FREE Angry Birds Rio & WSOP on Amazon app store NOW!!!

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but, just thought I'd share info on some free stuff.
I went to the Amazon website on my pc and had to enter my mobile number. Then they sent me a text with a link to download the Amazon store app. Here is the link and text if you don't feel comfortable giving away your mobile number.
" Amazon Appstore: Please download the Amazon Appstore app for Android to get apps: http://amzn.to/getappstore Reply HELP APPS for help. Msg&data rates may apply "
That link will give you access to download the Amazon store apk.
Although you might still have to enter your mobile number for the link to work. Not really sure.
Anyway with the opening of the Amazon app store. Angry Birds RIO is free RIGHT NOW!!! It is also giving away free paid apps ( like WSOP ) every day for who knows how long.
P.S. Amazon store app and account required to install/play games.

Downloaded this yesterday, is's great fun.
Using it. Really fun!

Did you post your app to Amazon App store? Nice?

Anyone post their apps to Amazon? I am thinking to post my paid apps to Amazon besides the official Market. It's quite annoying to remove linkage to android market in app's free version.
But it sounds that AT &T will block Amazon app.
I have posted my app, Smart Diagram, to it. And it is selling ok. 4 in a month. As a new store, i am quite impressed by Amazon effectiveness.
> Anyone post their apps to Amazon? I am thinking to post my paid apps to Amazon besides the official Market.
I'm liking it so far because the charts seem much more dynamic. My free word game "wordoid!" is hard to find in the Android Market's charts but has climbed to #2 in Amazon's charts for some reason.

Yes, this does make it tiresome when upgrading apps. You can automate the process though with build scripts.
That's a good idea to use build scripts to build the apk for both Google and Amazon. I wanted to post my apps on Amazon, but I was dreading rewriting some of the code and having to maintain to different copies. And the pro version of my app uses LVL which isn't compatible with Amazon.
How did anyone else handle LVL if you posted to Amazon. Just remove it completely and use the Amazon DRM? Ahhh...maybe I'll just stick to the Google app store.
I'd like to see some more feedback from people that have posted to Amazon though to get a better idea of how it compares.

I have uploaded several apps to amazon. But very few downloads are generated from it.

Novo 7 Basic transfer apps with my backup pro

So I am obviously a NOOB and a bit of a dim bulb too, as you will see.
I currently have 2 Android devices. An LG Optimus LTE that I got in Dec and a Novo 7 Basic I bought in Nov. Two opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to the Google Play market compatibly.
I support devs by purchasing my apps/donating from the play market, when I can. The problem with my Novo 7 Basic is that (in Canada at least) it only has the free version of Google Play installed and therefore not many compatible apps show up in the market for it, even though it clearly has the guts to run many powerful HD apps, especially since, thanks to infamouskid, I have Magic Code installed. If I could buy apps from Amazon market, then many of these apps would be available to me (when I have looked they are compatible). My Novo is upgraded to ICS. Fortunately MyBackup Pro is avail to my tablet in the market and it is also on my phone. So I use the PIN for the phone on my tablet in order to "restore" the apps to the tablet.
Now that Play is allowing one purchase to be used on all of the devices you own, I was really ticked off that many of the basic apps couldn't be loaded on my tablet without trying to find a link somewhere and take the chance it was ok...hence the lack of brain power part... obviously if I understood how to root ect I would get that you can use Titanium backup or in my case, mybackup pro to move the apps.
Using MyBackup Pro: I liked not having to unmount sd cards (and it really is a bugger to get the card out of my tablet). It takes longer, of course, to do it by WIFI (real long). I didn't like that it seems to be an all or nothing. If I download a new game on my phone, I would like to be able to transfer just it and not have the backup scoop up everything...this is probably just a new user lack of knowledge.
Anyways - many apps are now confirmed installed and working on my tablet. There were a few that wouldn't install (ie: Brisksaber, lol) and fewer still that installed but won't run (evil Gameloft).
I just wanted to point out this idea to those of us Noobs with Chinese Tablets, lol, as a great alternative to finding recompiled apps, or app links if you happen to have another Android device. I will include my apps now; you'll notice a bunch of "junk" since I've got little kids, lol. I first checked if they worked and then I moved many of the apps after the "Backup" to the SD card.
APPS (I will make a note of it not working or not working well, otherwise its going well!):

Golf Extreme - no it is laggy
Netflix - no won't open
Osmos HD - no won't open
Smart Tools - doesn't seem to be working right
Bricksaber - wouldn't install
Tintin HD - no - when it opens it tells me that the game is not compatible with my device. It is, but the licence won't let it work..I have nothing but problems with Gameloft games.....my phone came pre-loaded with some demo games (my carrier is bell), so when those game titles go on sale, I can't buy them at the sale price, only for $5 each....not likely! According to Gameloft, it isn't their Fault, its' Bells..according to Bell it itsn't their fault, its LG's...and according to LG...its Google Plays fault... I'll eventually get down to the business of root ect so I can blast those bloat games off my phone, lol.
If there are better ways of doing this transfer thing, please let me know!

[Q] Play, Amazon, GetJar, GiveMeApps, Which App Stores Do You Use?

I recently checked out App Brain which is as old as day. GiveMeApps has no developer fees, uses paypal and gives developers 100%. GetJar has a global reach and most if not all of their apps are free which is great and they have GetJarGold.
Which other app stores have you used? I even recently came across an "adult" app store (had no idea those existed until this morning!)
I only use the google play store. I used the Amazon one for a while because of the deals they had, but it really wasn't worth it, IMO. So now I just stick with the Play store. If I need to install something they dont' have I just download and install via the APK.
i am use google play and 1mobile market

New Freebie from Samsung!

Today, Samsung announced a new Kindle for Samsung app through their Samsung Apps Store. Rather than trying to rewrite their blog post (http://global.samsungtomorrow.com/?p=35871), i'll just copy from their summary:
- Samsung and Amazon agreed to launch ‘Kindle for Samsung’, a custom-built eBook service offering millions of best-selling books, newspapers and magazines on readers’ mobile devices including over 500,000 exclusive titles.
- Samsung and Amazon will also launch Samsung Book Deals, a service providing 12 free eBooks a year to all Kindle for Samsung Galaxy smartphone and tablet users. (Basically, they let you choose one of four books to get for free every month).
I already installed the app. It looks better than the official Kindle app in my opinion. And the first 4 free books to choose from are already up.

Can you check a few things out for me?
1. Does the Kindle for Samsung (KfS) link to an Amazon account and/or a Samsung account?
2. Does the KfS have access to the Kindle Owners Library (free book a month for Prime members)?
3. Can you link KfS to one Amazon account and the regular Kindle app to a different Amazon account?
4. If you link it to an amazon.co.jp account, do you get a choice of free Japanese books?
I have Kindle devices from both the US and Japan and this would be a great way to access both of my collections.
The ROM I'm using now doesn't have Samsung Aps installed so I need to fix that first. I'm concerned that my first login might link the device to a specific store.
UPDATE 1: I installed KfS and tested it side by side with the regular Kindle app. Most importantly, the KfS only works with the US amazon.com site. It let me log in with my Japanese amazon.co.jp account, but couldn't find any books in my libary and when clicking the store or other links ended up dropping me into the amazon.com site.
KfS version: 4.3.0.204
Kindle version: 4.4.0.71
When I logged into the KfS and entered my amazon.co.jp account details, it automatically changed all of the Amazon apps to the amazon.co.jp account. E.g. the Amazon app store, and regular kindle app were switched over to the .co.jp account. It was easy to swith back and both Kindle apps could use a different amazon account compared to the Appstore.
KfS does not have access to the Kindle Owner's Library.
UPDATE 2: After selecting a free book on KfS, that book is available to be read on your other kindle devices and apps.
UPDATE 3: Kindle and KfS work well side by side using different Amazon accounts. I have my regular Kindle app set to my amazon.co.jp account and the KfS set to my amazon.com account. I can access both and easily switch back and forth. Regardless of the free books (which are all free on the Kindle Owners Library anyway) this is a great feature to use two accounts.
I'm still using stock 4.2 on my G4 and noticed that the Samsung App wanted to update itself and ChatOn, and install a panoply of utilities, before allowing me to download Kindle for Samsung. Does anyone know whether those upgrades and installations add anything undesirable?
Cheers for the recommendation op.
I really enjoyed reading apocalypse z. Much more than I anticipated.
Not sure which book to pick next...
