That makes two of us. If you flashed it on a ROM slot that is most likely the problem. Make a backup of your stock slot, then try installing to that slot. It works no problem on my phone.

A boot loop should not have happened. When you enter SS select the Wipe option and use the "Swipe to Factory Reset" at the bottom. Then go back to the Whipe screen and select Advanced Whipe. Select Dalvik Cache, Cache and System then swipe to Wipe. Go back to the SS home screen and install the ROM. I usually wipe the phone 3 times before I install a new ROM. I hope that helps you.

Lol triple wiped top ensure cleanliness, that's old school. We don't do that anymore haha. We used to do that because there was an issue with cwm not wiping completely I think. It still holds on but it's probably overkill honestly

Maybe so but it's better than a boot loop and battery pull. I hate to ask but is your phone a Dev edition? I'm hoping it's just a retail version.

Old habits die hard lol. I find myself double and triple wiping too. Used to be pretty common when I first started back on the Droid X. I got that phone out my junk drawer for my daughter to play with.... Didn't realize how far Android has come until playing with the old DX again lol.

Yeah man times have changed, with everything. Rooting has gotten so much easier, just clicking an apk. Some people had to hold paperclips to their dismantled phones in the old days lol. Flashing is less scary, ota root keepers, recovery tools. In my day you had to work for it lol flash and pray you didn't see the splash screen twice. Wish I still had my og evo, still my favorite phone ever.

My Verizon Galaxy S3 had been stuck at the Verizon boot screen. Booted into recovery mode, reset the data, restarted, and, after about 10 seconds of hanging it went ahead and booted. Thanks!
I should follow up.
I did the same finally. reset my data despite my fear. My SD card data was left unharmed so i was able to use the rom on there to load and it worked like a charm.
Again my apps were removed and system settings were all gone but that is what it takes to load the ROM.
On a separate note i went from ICS to CM 10.0, i am running the Apex Launcher and i cant express how much i like it better than the stock ROM. there are a few things that hang and crash but for the most part it is worth the improvements.

I didn't mean to make it sound like that's a bad thing. Some people will prefer your rom because of the aokp features and some will prefer eriks for stock sony.
Either way, thank you for contributing your rom to the sgs4g development. It's very much appreciated
"flashing failed" in TWRP.
I'll try a new DL and let you know what happens.

2nd DL, "Checking state of BML/MTD..." and then recovery loops.
DO not attempt to flash the zip file. It is improperly compiled, I will have a fix soon probably by tomorrow or tonight.
If you attempted to flash and got stuck on a boot loop, flash back to stock OR flash another ICS ROM.

First what model of phone do you have? Second if it is indeed the t959v you're not bricked. To get into recovery hold BOTH volume buttons and power. Once the boot screen gets brighter let go of power only.
I do have t959v but i tried what youre saying but the screen doesnt get brighter it just says dim
OK. Try this. same button combo. As soon as you see the splash screen count to two then let go of POWER. If that doesn't work do it by counting to three.
Tried that to but still nothing idk how flashing a rom could cause this

to go to stock follow hechoen's saying, but on TEAM ACID logo, wait for a LIGHT CHANGE and let go of the buttons. That is how I goto recovery every single time.
I trying to put the Xperia rom that we just got in the t959v forum but it was a bad link that just puts your phone into a bootloop.

Or the 6th beer. lol Greg did you flash this yesterday?? And if you did did it break recovery for you? or DL mode?

How many people have buggy stock recovery?

I went into stock recovery yesterday, after purchasing the phone to wipe cache.
I like to do this with all my new phones first.
When I pressed on wipe cache, it brought me to a menu that asked Mr what package to install, and was showing me my SD card.
I then tried to data factory reset, which from my experience with other phones acted as though it was wiping cache??
It seems the recovery has 1 to many install from SD card options, and is throwing the menu off.
Can anyone else confirm this?
From what I can see only an update would fix this.
Sent from my XT1032 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Can confirm that selecting "wipe cache partition" shows SD content. Don't want to try the factory reset though.
Reflashed stock recovery twice, it seems broken by design

same here , the listing in recovery just isnt acurate to the job it performs ! - crazy slip up from Moto on this one i think .

Yes it is buggy, however totally operable!
"What? What did you say Ehsan? What knowledge do you have to bestow upon us, oh learned man of the great metropolis?"
Simple really. Whatever you want to select, just select the option above. Wipe cache is Wipe Data/Factory Reset, and Wipe Data/Factory Reset is Apply update via ADB.
So while I sit here and bask in the rays of my awesomeness, you should go and spread the word.

So it flashed successfully in Odin? You don't boot back into your rom, you pull the battery then continue onto the next step after putting the phone back into Download mode.

So you flashed the bootchain in PDA, waited for the tar file to flash, your S3 rebooted on its own and it would not boot back up? Or did something else happen? I've used that thread and many others as you can see in there with no issues.
Cuz unfortunately that sounds like a hard brick and there's two ways of recovering from that. The first way is doing this which requires you to have a class 10 sdcard that is the same size as your phone's internal storage. The other way is paying and shipping it off to a third party service like MobileTechVideos.

Stock Rom user PSA***

PSA **********
Custom recoveries can wipe stock Rom files when you wipe data. HTC started loading pieces of the gallery/camera app to data via a preload option. The files will show up in /data/preload on a stock rom. IF you use ANY recovery other than stock, it will ERASE these files if you wipe data .. and you won't be able to restore them (without /data backup).
Be careful and if you need to simply factory reset make sure you use stock recovery as it will NOT erase these files.

Lol wonder how many more there are
@mcp2009 @ethan.r.besbris
Local rom parties soon... lol.. I support this device because my wife and daughter have it... I like my one max a LOT for now
I will have to keep you both in mind since I like to test on devices I can get my hands on...
By all means, brother!
I'm more than likely grabbing one of these, so this is good info to know. Thanks
While I think the OP has a valid concern, and therefore made this post, I have not had any problem such as this. I flash new ROM's all the time, and haven't experienced any problems at all. I do thank the OP for making this post

You will likely be safe on custom roms as the devs usually include /data files in their rom too. This really would only apply to a user on a stock rom who inadvertently wipes /data.
The only problem would show when you go to edit a picture in gallery and want to apply a sticker to it.
If this applies to you, you will know it
