I moved from latest cm9 which caused some troubles when I want to call, unknown phone call appear and was unable to cancel it, only reboot helps. Then I found another ICS rom which look attractive for me - MIU in newest version because not all roms support GSM which i'm using as a carrier (european O2). After flashing I got message phone proces fails every 5sec, so I decide to do same as by cm9 to clear both cache and than flash again rom. After clear of all cache I was unable to install any rom, because I had message, it is not signed (tryied cm7.1/2, cm9, miu, some verizon roms).
I decide to sbf this phone.I take rsd lite v5.4.4 and try to flash 2.4.33 rom, but first time, I deplete my batery, ok, I have second one, change it and try again, everything goes like a charm but after 100% of proceed I get message there is some failure, I'm asked for driver to qhsusb_dload and bootloader writes
bootlader d0.11
code corrupt
and don't recognize cable is connected.
Is there some hope?
Maybe newer rsd lite http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348587 also try newer drivers http://androidevolved.com/forums/dr...orola-droid-2-global-usb-driver-download.html

Were you getting this message in ClockworkMod Recovery, or were you trying to flash custom ROMs in stock recovery?
As for the other, it sounds like you either have a corrupted SBF or your phone's internal flash memory has become damaged. If it is a problem with the internal flash, your only options are replacing the phone or trying to convince VZW or Motorola it should qualify for warranty replacement.
it looks that there is some problem with step by step from CM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1637429 same issue
on other hand I have win xp 32b and battery was fully charged before I start with "games"
I will try those new drivers, I will see if something differs
on other hand, I bought this phone on ebay without any paper, so probably without possibility to try reclamation on verizon/motorola.
edit : to question which recovery I used, I think it was stock recovery (x+power button, than both volume button after ! showed up)

You can't flash ROMs in stock recovery, only signed update.zip files from Motorola. To flash non-Motorola ROMs you need ClockworkMod Recovery.
If you manage to SBF successfully, you will need to install a root exploit first, then follow these instructions to install CWM: http://droid.koumakan.jp/wiki/ClockworkMod_Recovery
Hi
I tryied this step by step for sbf, it looks this currently is corrupted http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Motorola_Droid_2_Global:_Full_Update_Guide
To my current problem, it looks I have newer driver revision - 5.4.0, but this rsdlite looks like helpfull (now red icon instead of blue one before). phone was recognized. downloading sbf file from http://www.droidknows.com/showthread.php/364-Gingerbread-Full-SBF-4-5-608 , i hope it will be successfull
about original rescue mode, i don't have this knoweledge, it works only with signed rom, but it is good to know to future. I've already bid for some new d3, but some guy beat me by 1$, when I run for one shot of vodka ;D
i will update shortly if this help me or not, but it does not matter, thanks for help
edit : process failed, After 100% of flashing image to phone, it was unable to find qhsusb driver, it is possible somewhere to download it to win xp 32bit?
Failed flashing process. Phone(0000) Error switching phone to BP Pass through mode (0x70BE); phone disconnected.

I tried it my way
cut some mini usb cable which I have, you need red and brown wire, red is + so you need to connect it to the left pin and brown is ground to righ pin, two in a middle is just for checking state of battery - so now I have a charger for both of dead battery (facing screen to bottom and power button up)
than I created bootable usb via this instruction http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-2-global-hacks/170060-tool-ezsbf-d2g.html
now my jedy droid which cut apple is changed with red motorola logo, I get rid of code corrupt message and also have bootloader.
now I'm trying again rsd lite to flash 4.5.608 sbf image. I hope this will help someone in future, at least as one step or kind of fallback from state which I found.
I tried sbflite, sbf_flash but still no progress, I still have only red M logo, after that I get bootlader. as I understand, sbf phone shoul install also OS to phone, doesn't?
I also try to cler cache (/data) via recovery mode (default), but not help.
Should I try to install some rom via recovery? i asume i will need some differ rom than sbf

I have a theory of a possible way to fix this, but don't know if it will actually work.
From the sounds of what you are describing, it sounds like everything is flashing except the radio in rsdlite, and that the radio is possibly corrupted by the process.
If this is the case, and you still have access to Motorola recovery (booting with X pressed), maybe you could put the OTA update from 2.4.33 to Gingerbread on the SD card, and try installing the update from zip. The reason for doing this would be to flash the radio without using rsdlite. EzSbf does not flash the radio, so if a corrupt radio is your problem, it will be no help. Just a thought, hope it is helpful.

Do not follow any instructions for the D2G from the CyanogenMod website if you have ever had a stock Gingerbread firmware (versions 4.6.x) on your D2G. Everything on the official CM site assumes your D2G is running stock Froyo (firmware version 2.4.x) and will not work with a Gingerbread kernel.

The wiki article G.Y. linked says "Under certain circumstances (especially when using Windows Vista and Windows 7) there might be a problem with not all device drivers being installed correctly." This means that the problem is more likely to occur under Vista or 7, not that the fix only applies to those versions. If the same problem occurs in Windows XP, the same fix should solve it.

Just replaced Samsung Galaxy Nexus with this razor. Should be a step up right? Apparently I'm spoiled. Wife has the bionic so I'm familiar with the basic process.
Doing research, resetting the device like 15 times and reading a ton of threads in the last couple days, it looks like I have the phone itself actually rooted however I'm not able to fully install safe strap.
What's interesting to me is that I can use programs that require root access far as I can tell with no issue, root checker shows root is available as well. Trying to reboot into recovery though does not give me the safety strap splash screen to choose any kind of recovery option. Just rolls into DROID...
Is this pretty normal if the previous owner accepted the OTA update to take me to 9.18.79? Are we stuck?

Did you open safestrap and install recovery?
Sent from my XT912 using Tapatalk 4
Sure did. Says installed and from all the videos I've seen explaining the install/usage and my wife phone installation, I'm quite sure it's installed.
I've tried multiple versions just to be sure clearing data and uninstalling previous versions etc.
At this point I'm just not sure if this is normal or not because of the OTA version that's on here.

Thinking that the safe strap process should be the same but realized that there is a set of HD XT926 forums I should probably be posting in. Didn't realize the differences.

Just wondering, it wasn't clear, are you on the 9.18.79 build or not sure? A screen shot of your "about phone" screen could tell unless someone rolled back. Only reason I ask is, safest rap is great if there are no options but unlocked is where the real profit is.

yep, that's the version I'm at. I think I mentioned that in the original post. From everything I'm reading I should be able to install and run safe strap with no issues but it just doesn't ever bring up the menu. At this point I'm looking for alternatives I guess.

are you sure its not already unlocked?
if you havent already, i would flash back to clean stock, not just wipe/"reset", and try again. wiping wont get rid of or fix anything in the system directory.
First off don't attempt to flash any aftermarket recovery if your BL is locked, you might run into issues. Second, SafeStrap doesn't replace your stock recovery because you can't replace your stock recovery if you have a locked BL. To get into SS, just boot your phone normally. Once the phone boots, you'll get the SS screen that allows you to go into SS recovery or boot into OS normally. Once in SS, then you can start running backups, flashing, etc.
i didnt see anyone suggest he flash a stock recovery.
he got the phone used, maybe its already unlocked, i didnt see that possibility confirmed or denied.

When you say UNLOCKED, are you referring to the Boot Loader? If so, I do not believe that it is, just Root at this time.

100% agree with this, should be that simple. Happens properly on the Mrs Bionic so I'm familiar with that process. This phone doesn't produce the menu no matter what version of Safe Strap is installed (tried multiple).

Planning to go back to stock stock, beyond the wipe. I believe a previous poster mentioned that the standard wipe doesn't remove root. A fresh start may be my next step. Hoping the 1.32 Droid Razr Utility by Mattlgrof http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474393 will do that for me.

Used the utility to wipe the phone and reflash back to stock, at least that version. All seems good however moto chopper doesn't fully install root with superuser. I get the typical su binary needs to be installed and that fails.I did tried to run the updates in Play Store that was available as well as clearing data etc with no luck. read the post from the utility, the root in the utility is not the one you need to use. the correct one is in the post. (it actually says it in the command window of the tool too)

np, i did update it a few times, but working 6 days a week, i dont feel like messing with the root right now.
So I've just done option 1 with the factory reset, then ran moto chopper 1.32 and have good root. Confirmed. Ver. 9.20.1
Safe strap seems to be the only issue I keep having. The menu just simply doesn't come up while booting. Doesn't matter if the phone is completely shut off and turned on or rebooted.

Grns did mention that he might try flashing PhilZ recovery, that's why I said what I did. His OP also mentioned that the previous owner took the latest OTA, so it's highly probably that he's locked up (though, not 100% certain). I'm only suggesting these things in advance, so that he doesn't run into problems.
As for your SS issues, that's kind of weird. You should get the options as soon as the phone boots up.

RSD Lite won't allow me to flash anything but 4.1.2, it gives the error:
=
Code:
Flashed flashing process. 1/23 flash partition "gpt_main0.bin"-> Phone returned FAIL.
Long story short I am attempting to move carriers on a phone I bought off of ebay. To do that I need to "find" something.
Originally, I was rooted, unlocked and had CWM with an external backup.
I got stuck trying to RSD Lite back down to 4.0.4 and to RSD Lite back to stock 4.1.2. I'm thinking that I will get root again, install TWRP, create backup, TWRP back to ICS, get the thing I am looking for, TWRP back to 4.1.2, RSD Lite back to 4.1.2, reroot, install CWM and use an older CWM backup on my SD card to get back to the start. After that I plan to use an NV writer/reader and QPST to finish this.

I see you're just going to attack my comment about you doing potentially illegal things.
nvram, qpst, etc... are questionably legal stuff, let's not argue about it.
You should be able to use the RSD Lite application to flash JB. If you are downgrading to ICS, there's some additional lines which you have to remove from the XML file.
Make sure you are using a new version of RSD (6.0+)

Theoretically wouldn't using TWRP to downgrade to ICS not require anything other than root?
Part of the problem is I cant post or edit for five minutes between each reply. That makes this discussion difficult.
I think in general my original question refers to something that is perfectly legal. It could easily be said that modifying the user experience of any computer product at all is illegal take for instance anything Apple. Up until 2012 it was commonly stated that even unlocking a phone could be illegal. Axiomatically anyone may legally program their legally owned phone. This is an entire forum dedicated to hacking/creating useability out of legally purchased merchandise. Consider the first thread in the general forum which is physically adding a sim card slot to the phone to able to change carriers at will. I think it's a tad bit silly to approach things thinking the user intends to something illegal or with malice.

JB should work no problems. Downgrading to ICS, there's an additional set of lines to remove from the XML file. I'll try to dig them up and have Skrilax post it in his thread.

gpt_main0 can't be downgraded. Remove its line from the 4.0.4 FXZ XML file so RSD Lite does not try to flash it. Then you should be able to flash the 4.0.4 FXZ over 4.1.2 on phone just fine.

It's already quite some time ago when I needed to do it (from JB to ICS via RSD Lite), so I don't remember the exact edits, but it worked fine for me in the end.
The simple general rule is - when there is an error, remove the related line from the XML file and try it again .

This worked. Thank you for your help. I guess this was a little more simple than I thought it would be. It also had an odd side effect of completely changing the programming and the MSL for anyone else remotely interested.
OK, guys/gals,
I was stupid last night and changed my build.prop file to build.prop.bak, before I replaced the .bak file with my updated one my phone rebooted. Obviously now when I boot the phone it goes to a black screen and I can't do anything with it. I can get into stock recovery and tried a factory reset, but that didn't do anything except erase my data. I tried doing fastboot but every time I try to re-write my system partition it fails. I can do every other partition just not system. I tried reflashing the OTA kitkat with adb but again it can't fins the build.prop file.
So my question is am I screwed or is there a fix that I'm missing?
Thank for any help
BTW... this is for my RAZR HD maxx, not on the razr I am sending this from.

Since you already wiped data, you might as well just do a full FXD install with Kit Kat, if you weren't on it. You might be flashing the incorrect image and that could be causing the issue with system.
If you weren't on Kit Kat, you might as well just go full Kit Kat since you can root it and unlock the bootloader (if you aren't unlocked).
Other possible reasons why it's failing are as follows:
Bad USB cable - If you have the original cable, try it. Otherwise, swap out cables and try again.
Drivers are out-of-date. Update your drivers.
Are you using a USB 2.0 port? Don't be hooked up to USB 3.0.
Windows 8 has been known to cause issues, so if that's what you are on, you might want to try Windows 7 or earlier. If on Mac, I can't help you there as I'm not familiar with Mac.
I concur. Use my RSD Script Generator to generate scripts for the 183 KK FXZ, flash with KEEP DATA, root with towel root, unlock with motoapocalypse. Then you can downgrade back to JB (if desired) by generating scripts for 9.30.1 FXZ, and flashing the UNIVERSAL script. Done with unlocked.
I was on kitkat rooted. I did try the FULL.XML file from samurai, however red doesn't recognize my phone. I used fastboot through command prompt to flash everything except system partition. It won't let me flash, format it.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I am using windows 7 on usb 2 with 2 different factory razr hd cables, with samurai's info from another forum.

System is a LARGE partition so it sounds like a cable/port/driver issue if it's failing to send it properly. I assume you're using motofastboot.exe?

No. I am not. That's probably dummy move #2 I was using fastboot from the sdk... when I get home I'll try motofastboot.
Thanks

Oh yea you have to use motofastboot else system will indeed fail. That should fix you up. Sweet.
Success!!
Thanks SamuriHl, I have been a follower of yours since the Bionic, and House of Bionic. I am not a noob by any means however, every so often I need a little reminding. Thanks for putting me in the right direction. The Phone is fully functional again.

You're very welcome. If it's not unlocked, do so now.
I was unlocked on JB and went with the kk ota. I now want to go back to JB. Can I restore from an old 4.1 backup. I was using a different version of twrp when making the backup.

you can defiantly go back, i just dont know what will happen as far as twrp is concerned.
seems like at some point you would have a compatibility issue with the old software and the new twrp.
but i never tried it, therefore i didnt post to help you with inaccurate information.
there is a guide in my sig (skip down to the relevant parts), that will get you back to jb, but it is a proven method and doesnt involve restoring any backups.
Thanks for the response. I saw the guide. I'm just not that familiar with rsd. Thought restoring an old backup would be much simpler if it would work.

You can't restore an old backup. You can flash back to stock JB, but at that point, you cannot use any of the old ROMs as they need the old JB bootloader, which is now running the KK bootloader. That is in a trusted partition that you cannot downgrade at all. So, trying to use old JB-based ROMs will no longer work. So, if you were planning on going back to a JB-based custom ROM, it won't work from what I know once you have upgrade to KK.
But, if you want to go back to stock JB, then yes, that is possible.
You can use SamuriHL's RSD Flasher (which is in beta) -> http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/48904-rsd-flasher-beta-windows-only/
Or, you can use his House of Moto tool which is here -> http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/28162-house-of-moto-25/
He lists the instructions in both posts, so read, read and re-read a third time before you even attempt to flash back to JB. Three readings usually causes the light bulb to finally go off and it ensures you understand everything. If at that point you don't understand, then ask questions (and be sure you state you read it three times). Usually, people who do read three times figure it out and have no issues.
That's your only option at this point or stay on KK.
So there's no way to go back to the JB bootloader?

Like i said, no. It's in a trusted zone. You'll still have the KK bootloader installed, but you'll be able to flash back to stock JB and boot that.
You might be able to make it work, but as @bweN diorD stated, it's not a proven method to flash back to old ROMs nor use old nandroid backups.
I myself use Titanium Backup Pro to backup my apps and data and that works fine.
