[Q] Problems with AppStoreHQ on G Tab

Brand new G Tab owner. Just charged and started up last night. I received the notification of the 3389 release immediately and went ahead and let the update download and installed.
I'm just checking things out at this point keeping her stock for a while. I have a lot to learn about Android in general so I'm in no hurry to begin mods.
In just following the suggested links I ran into a problem with AppStoreHQ. There are two apps there, can't seem to find them on any of the other 'approved' app stores, Google TV Remote and the Nook reader from B&N.
I cannot install either of them, or any app for that matter, from AppStoreHQ. Anybody else having this problem.
I called Tech Support, thought it would be a good first test. I was surprised to get a real person in under 2 minutes. He was helpful, said he would try it on their G Tabs, and put me on hold. He came back in a couple of minutes and said they are having the same problem. He would report it to the software team and there should be a fix in 24 hours.
He also told there will be a general update for the G Tab in the next week.
Any help would be appreciated, even another way to get the apps I'm looking for.

You might want to go investigate the custom firmware threads in the developer sub-forum... They all have a method for gaining near complete access to the market.
OTOH if you actually like the TapnTap UI, you can probably find the Nook and Google TV remote apks somewhere online, then read about using adb to install them from your computer, or how to enable installation from foreign source directly on the gTab(can't remember if it's on by default in stock or not since I gave up on TnT a LONG time ago and have pretty much settled on TnT lite ATM...)

...just remembered... search this forum(and maybe the dev forum too) for info about applying some mods to stock firmware (root, Google market, etc.) if you REALLY want to stay stock... you're not going to learn a whole lot about Android in stock UI though as it's buried under the TapnTap UI... Vegan "ROM"(firmware) is closer to a vanilla Android 2.2 release...

Installation from foreign source enabled by default, since there is no official Android Market, if it were disabled no software could be installed. If you find the '.apk' files download them to the device anf tap them then install.
3389 has a bad bug of slowing down when woken from sleep state. Only cure is to reboot. so you may want to look into one of the unofficial but from Viewsonic updated, if you want to keep that "stock' feel. If not there are many options for alternets that each have a loyal following.

Facebook App

I dunno where to put this. Can someone plz help find the app version before the major UI change. I keep downloading various versions before 9.0 from many places and it still show the same new crappy UI. :'(
I want the last version before the changed design. It also allows adding pix to comments. I can't even find the link. Samsung did a Factory Reset when they are only suppose to replace the USB port.

I could be wrong, but I believe that the app renders the native website, therefore the layout changes are driven by the core website itself and not the app on your device. This wasn't always the case, but it's been a long time.

Thanks for your response. I kept searching last night and kept on using random search words and finally hit it. Its the app right before the UI change and that luckily FB added pix to comments before the UI change. I'm staying on this app until FB fix their messy app. Their current version, that I tested last night, are so horrible. I came across a page listing all versions and descriptions. They're workin' on a 10.0 already, so the 9.0 is short-lived. LoL Will check out the link you provided.
Btw, how can I do a Search on this forum? All I see are Search for Your Device. I'm also wanting the Dolphin apk app version before their UI change.

Quite a lot of questions about my OPO

There are some strange difficulties I'd like to solve but won't without help. The First one concerns actualisations - my current version of CyanogenMod is 12.1-20150914=NIGHTLY-bacon, soo the newest one. However I would really like to know why every two weeks when the new actualisations are available, there are always three of them? so with the one i installed came also ver 20150913 and 20150912, should all 3 of them be installed one after another?
2. Using google chrome my phone struggles to play a video from quite a number of players including liveleak, dailymotion and a few more I forgot now, if anyone knows how to fix it I'll be much obliged.
3. I think my dear friends is getting a bit senile =[ freezing once in a while (but still very rarely) and recently it rebooted in a very weird way - I got the black screen, android logo and suddenly it was on without loading (the whole process took about 5-10sec). Again the solution is greatly welcome.
4. Is the jellybean finally available on OPO? can't seem to find it

1. No, all three don't need to be installed, only the most recent one. I'm not sure why you're getting notifications for more than one.
2. Can't comment on this, I have no such issue.
3. There could be countless causes for this, it would be virtually impossible to give you a solution.
4. Jellybean? That's an old Android version, it's several iterations old now. This phone was released on KitKat (4.4.2). Why would anyone create a ROM based on an outdated Android version?

Well Marshmallow hasn't even been released by Google yet. There's a port of a dev preview but it's by no means stable. Marshmallow will be officially released at the end of the month, then we should get some ROMs a while after that.

Hi! A few of my modding friends made a new app, and gave me permission to share this with the XDA community. I hope you enjoy it!

Picat is a Kik mod based on Kik/Pikek version 8.10. Made by Spirit, Jess, Nem, Bran, Dorcus, Kilo, and mint. We started this project to give people something fun to use and also to get some good learning experience out of it. If you have used Pikek in the past then you'll already know what features it has, however it's more than just another boring retheme of Pikek unlike most mods it contains never before seen features and commands which you will love and find very useful. Some of which include
- !back (auto invites people back to the group)
- Auto forward (great for bypassing that annoying 24 hour pic ban)
- Anti timestamp (to auto ban annoying people)
- New games such as !guess and !hang
- OS/mod detection (let's you view what operating system another user is using and/or their modded kik)
- Real time lurk detection (much better than @whoslurking as it doesn't timeout)
- Empty profile pic ban (to auto ban users who join without a profile pic. Great for keeping out spammers as they usually don't have a profile pic)

App is crashing
I have tried both the light and dark versions of Picat and both crash as soon as I open them before logging in. I uninstalled all other Kik apps to try to fix it and it is still crashing. I had another version of Picat and out of nowhere it started to crash whenever I opened it and I have no idea how to fix it. I restarted my phone twice cleared app data, nothing works. Help?

I'm afraid I'm not aware of any issues since I'm not involved with the app, but if you still want my help, a good start would be to pull out a computer and look into "adb logcat." Running that when it crashes will provide us with valuable info about why the crash occurs.

Thanks, I don't know how to debug.

I found that it only crashes and refuses to run when there is something funky with my internet connection like things being blocked on restricted Wi-Fi.

Can't login. Returns to initial setup screen after solving the CAPTCHA.
Does this (or any other mod) remove that silly chat history limit btw? And how about an export feature?
That's basically all I'd want a mod for...

Is there a way to retrieve videos that have been sent to you but got lost due to relogin with picat?

Android Screen Pinning not working since last update (1.13.1)

First of all, kudos on such an amazing player. I've been using the Pro version for quite a while now, and I love it.
I've been using Android's Screen Pinning since it became available to lock MX Player on my phone, so I can give it to my daughter to watch movies without worrying about her messing around with anything else. Se navigates the player easily, chooses whatever she wants to watch, but she can't leave the app, or click on notifications, etc.
Unfortunately, the latest update seems to have broken it. Apparently, the "media browser" part and the actual video-playing part are now seem by Android as independent apps. If I pin it while browsing, I can't play any files: whenever I click on a file, Android shows the message saying "to unpin this screen, touch and hold back and overview buttoms". If I start playing a video and then pin it, I can't go back to the file selection screen, as only the video "thread" (I'm not sure I can call it that way) is pinned.
The same problem is happening on my Xiaomi Mi A2 with android 9 and my wife's Motorola Moto G7 with android 8, both running the Pro version of the player.

I can confirm this issue and already reported this to their support email. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.
