4.4.3 UK - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone received the update yet? I'm hoping we get 4.4.5 sometime this year, im thinking about complaining to Motorola as they advertised this phone to receive update pretty quickly...

Maybe you're not aware that 4.4.4 came out and Motorola stopped rolling out 4.4.3 due to a critical bug in OpenSSL. We now have to wait for 4.4.4, which should roll out in the next few weeks. No need to complain to Motorola. Just be patient.

To OTA kitkat or not to kitkat on Verizon (for future root)

Wonder if I should wait to OTA update in case there is an exploit that only works for 4.3
Just curious...
Maybe we're just waiting for motorola/verizon to allow us to unlock the bootloader?
Petition anyone? lol
Looks like the main reason not to upgrade is TETHERING IS DISABLED in KITKAT... which is pretty weird because verizon is now including it in their new "allset" plans.
I already upgraded on one of my moto G's... maybe I should keep this one as a backup... lol
I updated mine to kitkat. From what I hear, otg works better with kitkat. I'm in email discussions with Verizon and Motorola right now, mostly Motorola, atm. Just emailed Verizon today, so waiting for a response from them.

[Q] 4.4.3

I know this may seem a bit selfish, having just got 4.4.2, but what are our chances of getting 4.4.3 as the bugfix update that I'm hoping comes out to fix the WiFi/Bluetooth bug among others?
I'd be happy with a bugfix just to fix these bugs even if it wouldn't upgrade us to 4.4.3, but I haven't found anything online about a potential update coming from either Motorola or Verizon unfortunately.

I just received an email for a new soak test for the RAZR HD. Not sure if it's for 4.4.3, but I think it will address the issues some have experienced with blue tooth and texting, but I don't know for sure.
I would say, get Towelroot applied right now and unlock your bootloader, since 4.4.2 apparently re-introduced the exploit to allow unlocking the bootloaders on the XT926 phones. So, unlocking the bootloader will guarantee that you can sideload SU to obtain root one the newer OTA comes out.
Do it now because I highly doubt this will work after the new OTA. The Android gods have smiled down upon those with locked bootloaders and have given you a second chance on doing this. Don't lose this chance now that it has been given back to you for a second time.
Thankfully I unlocked the first time an exploit was available. I made the mistake of blindly taking the OTA that fixed the exploit then got lucky my replacement phone was on the software level before the exploit was patched. First thing I did was unlock it haha
I've actually been holding off on root in the hopes of a bug fix coming. I'd rather not go through the process of unrooting a couple weeks after I get everything the way I want it just to have to get the bug fix OTA. But that's good to know there's a new soak test incoming. 4.4.3 or not, it'll be welcome.

My Nexus 5 doesn't get Lollipop!

I bought my Nexus 5 a month ago, I got an update from 4.4.3 to 4.4.4 right away, but since then.. No Lollipop. Doesn't matter what I try.
It's stock, brand new. I sold it to my dad because I'm an HTC guy and I got cold feet, and now he's all like "You sold me a ****ed up device, I don't think I'd get updates anymore".
I don't want to manually flash it, I just want to get the OTA like I'm supposed to. Why the hell don't I get the OTA after a month?! My friend bought it 2 days before me and got the OTA right away.
Please help guys.
Don't worry. Lollipop is a bugged mess

The very same thread pops up multiple times a day.
Its a rollout. It could come today, or it could come in a month. Flash/sideload it or stop complaining and wait.

SM-G930T Official Nougat Update *NOT VZW

Hey everyone I was just wondering if anyone who has the Nougat Beta, have you gotten the official update yet? and if so when is the soonest we could possibly be getting a zip file? I tried the VZW version and it was smooth for about the first week, then I noticed some random rebooting and battery life issues as to be expected since it was only a first beta version. Not rushing anything but I'm a little impatient as well as some of you are to get your hands on the Nougat goodness. The whole reason for me even flashing the TMO version is because I bought the Metro PCS version and usually their updates roll out a lot later than TMOs updates. Thanks all

OTA December Push?

Greetings!
I have (2) unlocked Pixel 2's (not rooted) and neither have seen the OTA update to 8.1. Am I the only one experiencing this or are others still waiting for the push? I'm fully capable of grabbing and installing the new images but wanted to see how Google handles these. It seems a bit weird that this has been released but not pushed.
Thoughts?
The pushing out is always done in phases, with just a few getting it in first few days then a larger-scale rollout after that. Some have received it without taking any action themselves, but I think the majority haven't yet.

Ok.... Thank you. This confirms it isn't that i need to be too concerned with. A phased approach is better in catching problems early on without impacting majority.
Yeah it will take some time to arrive (totally random). If you want to rush this you have two options:
Option a) Download the full OTA and upload it using ADB from the PC to the Android Recovery.
Option b) Now that there's an official OTA from 8.1 DP2 to 8.1 stable. You can try enrolling into the beta, after doing this, there's a chance you receive the OTA to 8.1 stable because Google roll outs the OTA to all the enrolled people when released. If you receive the OTA to 8.1 DP2 unenroll before applying the OTA and keep waiting.

Will it come to rooted phones? And will I lose root after applying the OTA?

I received my Pixel 2, two days ago and after going through the usual setup, I was offered 8.1 update(size a little over 1GB). Phone came with September patch out of the box. From my previous experience, it may take up to 2 weeks to get the update, but average about 5-7 days.

Thank you. I'm trying to be patient on this one. The only reason that I have questioned it is due to not being able to root my phone as is. I'm suspecting that with a fresh update to 8.1 the process steps will work correctly.
It's funny in that all i want to do is to block ads. LOL
That you again for your insites.
Weird. I own a Pixel 2 yet the December OTA offers an update for the Pixel 2 XL. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I avoid the update?
I got the update, something like ~600 MB. I haven't noticed any differences yet aside from the AR stickers in the camera, which are kind of fun.
I have a question in regards to getting the OTA updates.
I'm in Australia and got my pixel 2 xl on a plan with Telstra as they are the exclusive carrier here. But I use a Vodafone sim in the phone.
Will this cause me to not get the OTA updates?
Way too long time passed, and I'm still waiting. This is pretty annoying. Now I enrolled to beta to get it, but still nothing. -.-
Are OTA updates not possible for unlocked and rooted phones?
Everytime I try to install the OTA 8.1.0, my Pixel2 downloads the update and installation fails with the error message installation problems.
don't bother. 8.1 is trash. the battery has gone to complete crap on this phone now since 8.1
