SM-G930T Official Nougat Update *NOT VZW - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Hey everyone I was just wondering if anyone who has the Nougat Beta, have you gotten the official update yet? and if so when is the soonest we could possibly be getting a zip file? I tried the VZW version and it was smooth for about the first week, then I noticed some random rebooting and battery life issues as to be expected since it was only a first beta version. Not rushing anything but I'm a little impatient as well as some of you are to get your hands on the Nougat goodness. The whole reason for me even flashing the TMO version is because I bought the Metro PCS version and usually their updates roll out a lot later than TMOs updates. Thanks all

OTA update?

Is it normal that I still haven't gotten any OTA update? Im over in NY and went to stock ROM, went to stock recovery, and unrooted the phone. When is the OTA update rolling out until? Did it stop? I keep getting connection failed when manually looking for a software update.
And I don't want to manually use the LG tool because I am afraid of bricking the phone and don't want to go through the trouble of unbricking it.
I never got the OTA either and it was announced they stopped. The LG updating didn't brick my phone either.
I was actually wondering the same thing.
I called Tmo CS over a week ago, and he swore that I would be getting either an email, text or phone call, letting me know that I would be getting the update. He was nice, but I think he was new (didn't seem all that sharp). I did ask him about the rumor that they stopped the OTA, and he said that there was nothing about that in his system. He said, according to his system, it was still active. I asked him like 3x lol.
I have a refurb, so can't use the LG update tool. I know there is an alternate way of doing it, here on the forums, but I'm just too darn lazy lol. I will be calling Tmo again, in the next few days. If I get any useful info, I will pass it along to you.
I like my G2x, but honestly...between LG and Tmo, this has been one, huge clusterf**k. Thank God for the devs here, and around the net. They have done what LG and Tmo have continuously failed to do...made me a happy G2x owner!
ive had the same issue trying to do it by the phone so used LG tool and .... bricked my phone
i called Tmo and they exchanged my phone at no cost. the new one came with Gb preinstalled.
Why not just screw the OTA and grab one of the great custom, pre rooted roms. I did the OTA thing and had to re root. Ran the official update for two days and got tired of the thing. The custom roms spoil you.

I'm running EB 2.3.3, and love it. And thanks to EB, I also love my G2X again. But I would like to have the new baseband. And I can only get that from the update.
Really, what I think it comes down to (for me), is that I want T-Mobile to step the hell up, and stop jerking me around. How do you release an OTA...but only to SOME? I've just never heard of such a thing. And how do you release your "flagship" phone, then realize it's got issues, and then try to sweep all the owners of said "flagship" under the carpet...where you don't have to deal with them any more? It just makes me sad. I used to brag to all my friends, how much I loved T-Mobile.

I kind of sympathize, but people recommend custom roms as a blanket solution to random issues way too often. Don't get me wrong, I love EB and CM, and xboarder's rom is fantastic, but the first two don't have a2dp and the latter won't still give you a new baseband. For people like me who have a non-functional gps and rely on a2dp, the official update is pretty critical.
Also, is there any evidence suggesting T-Mobile actually pulled the update? I think I know the post where this rumor started, and for what it's worth, a pretty knowledgeable rep told me about a week ago that the OTA is still rolling out, and will continue to do so through August. If the roll-out is slow, I don't think its too surprising considering what little space lg has to screw up again.

Well here it is posted on T-Mobile Support forum. The post says its created by T-Mobile so I'd say its legit, not a rumor.

Actually, although EB 2.3.5 doesn't have A2DP, EB 2.3.3 does.
And the mms works SO much better than other ROMS I've tried.

Latest Firmware For T-Mobile 7.0 (SM-T217T) 4.2??? Upgrade Options?

I just got this stupid "upgrade" tablet from T-Mobile less then 2 months ago while they were running a special and I'm shocked to see how neglected it is. Is 4.2 seriously the "latest" update for this hunk of junk? I thought I was mistaken when I noticed how far behind it was so I decided to install KIES and make sure I wasn't missing something. It does in fact say I have the latest firmware.
What are my options for getting this thing updated?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

your only option is to root it and install a custom rom. you might actually find a 4.3, 4.4, 5.0 based rom.
I have the SM-T217S (Sprint) (wifi and LTE) and it got upgraded to 4.4.2 last month. It canceled my root and I had to find a new way to root it. Weird how T-Mobile models did not get the update.
I've been looking around and I can't even find a custom ROM that will work for the tab. I just got mine at nearly the same time as you did. T-Mobile is definitely the worst when it comes to sending out updates. I had the P-1000 before this and had pretty much the same experience. I'm thinking of just selling mine and getting the Sprint version so that I can at least upgrade it. I might even just Get an 8 gig tab 4 and buy an sd card because I highly doubt that T-Mobile is gonna give out an update now if they completely skipped KitKat. Oh well.

Update from 25R to YNG1TAS2I3

I've got a family member who got a Oneplus One about a year ago, still running the old 25R as I killed the OTA when we got it as at the time some of the more recent ones had battery issues, they'd like to update as the camera isn't great on this version, is it worth it?
Obviously they're using early firmware that's a year old now, is it worth updating to YNG1TAS2I3 or should we leave it as is as it seems to work.
Thanks.

I heard that CMOS12.1 update is rolling out this August, so you can wait for this update and check out it's review and flash fastboot images if reviews are positive in terms of battery life, performance and other factors which you are looking for.

Yeah I thought about that, but based on all the other updates the first few have been junk so thought maybe the last 5.0 update may be better than the first few 5.1 updates, but want to know if people recommend it as if it's worse I have to do the downgrading back to 25R which is always a pain!

OTA December Push?

Greetings!
I have (2) unlocked Pixel 2's (not rooted) and neither have seen the OTA update to 8.1. Am I the only one experiencing this or are others still waiting for the push? I'm fully capable of grabbing and installing the new images but wanted to see how Google handles these. It seems a bit weird that this has been released but not pushed.
Thoughts?
The pushing out is always done in phases, with just a few getting it in first few days then a larger-scale rollout after that. Some have received it without taking any action themselves, but I think the majority haven't yet.

Ok.... Thank you. This confirms it isn't that i need to be too concerned with. A phased approach is better in catching problems early on without impacting majority.
Yeah it will take some time to arrive (totally random). If you want to rush this you have two options:
Option a) Download the full OTA and upload it using ADB from the PC to the Android Recovery.
Option b) Now that there's an official OTA from 8.1 DP2 to 8.1 stable. You can try enrolling into the beta, after doing this, there's a chance you receive the OTA to 8.1 stable because Google roll outs the OTA to all the enrolled people when released. If you receive the OTA to 8.1 DP2 unenroll before applying the OTA and keep waiting.

Will it come to rooted phones? And will I lose root after applying the OTA?

I received my Pixel 2, two days ago and after going through the usual setup, I was offered 8.1 update(size a little over 1GB). Phone came with September patch out of the box. From my previous experience, it may take up to 2 weeks to get the update, but average about 5-7 days.

Thank you. I'm trying to be patient on this one. The only reason that I have questioned it is due to not being able to root my phone as is. I'm suspecting that with a fresh update to 8.1 the process steps will work correctly.
It's funny in that all i want to do is to block ads. LOL
That you again for your insites.
Weird. I own a Pixel 2 yet the December OTA offers an update for the Pixel 2 XL. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I avoid the update?
I got the update, something like ~600 MB. I haven't noticed any differences yet aside from the AR stickers in the camera, which are kind of fun.
I have a question in regards to getting the OTA updates.
I'm in Australia and got my pixel 2 xl on a plan with Telstra as they are the exclusive carrier here. But I use a Vodafone sim in the phone.
Will this cause me to not get the OTA updates?
Way too long time passed, and I'm still waiting. This is pretty annoying. Now I enrolled to beta to get it, but still nothing. -.-
Are OTA updates not possible for unlocked and rooted phones?
Everytime I try to install the OTA 8.1.0, my Pixel2 downloads the update and installation fails with the error message installation problems.
don't bother. 8.1 is trash. the battery has gone to complete crap on this phone now since 8.1
