I keep getting data drops where it will drop mobile data completely and wont keep a connection with wifi. It still says its connected with wifi but it wont transfer any data, with mobile data it wont even show a data connection on the status bar.
I hear this is a common bug that a lot of people have, I get a good connection on stock 2.3.3 so I am currently stuck. I was running 1.9.9 MIUI and have this issue on anything else I try.
I loaded a stock build.prop w/ MIUI and it killed my cell network connection, no connection at all and it froze on reading SIM, but my wifi connection would not drop, and was flawless. Is it possible it is a setting in the build.prop that is being added or overlooked in roms?
I am having this same problem.
I recently purchased a G2x and installed the latest stable CM7 right off the bat, and started experiencing random drops to the EDGE network. This and a dead zone in the center of my house led me to believe my phone had a reception issue.
I have flashed back to the stock rom and my dead zone is gone, completely, and the data drops stopped.
Google searching hasn't led me to any answers and my next stop will be the CM forums.
Since I upgraded to Jellybean I have a problem with my data connection while my phone is idle.
This disconnecting of data only happens when I use my Data, and not with WI-FI.
When I don't touch my phone for about 15-30 minutes, I won't recieve any push-messages (Whatsapp).
I searched for this problem, and do believe the problem lies with the idleing.
When my phone is idle I think my Data will shut down and will only reconnect when I wake my screen.
Sometimes it will recieve the messages at random moments, maybe when the data gets refreshed.
This makes my phone pretty much unusable, because I want to recieve my messages when I need them.
Does anybody know a fix or a ROM where this "data sleep" is disabled?

Hi!
I was about to post kind of the same question about phone idle!
I am experiencing the same problem when my phone goes to idle!
I also loose the wifi when phone screen is off...
Everytime i wake the phone, i dont see the wifi signal... then, after maybe 2 sec, wifi (or mobile data) is connecting, and i recieve mails & things...
I think that's why i have a bigger battery life in JB instead of ICS ...
I experienced this bug with a few ROMs, il PA, TSM, CNA, etc... (stock or custom kernel...)
Any help will be welcome...

I've tried lots of roms and kernels, including GB, ICS, JB. I also tried different radio's (for i9023). I did a full wipe for every Rom install.
I don't have any problems using wifi, so I think your problem is different.
I use WhatsApp Messenger. When my phone is in sleep mode, I can't get any messages when using data connection. No problems on wifi so far. I followed this faq for WhatsApp problems. It's still not working properly.
I'm starting to think it's hardware related. Any help is appreciated.
I think I've got the same problem. Since I've flashed Androxide JB, my phone isn't syncing on data. I did revert to ICS, but it didn't help.
On wifi, background sync is working fine.
I tried different carriers, roms, radio, kernel. All of them didn't work.
Any solution available?
I also experienced this problem after flashing Androxide JB. Different SIM card doesn't work either.
I am also having this problem. Have install slim bean 3.0. connection seems to drop when the phone goes idle. anyone found a fix?

In settings, go WIFI, hit menu soft key, advanced and there should be a menu called "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep", click it and set your choice.

I am on the CM10 nightlies right now and was using CM9 and still had this issue. I don't use data all the time so I turn it on/off whenever I need to download a picture or there is no WiFi where I am at. The thing that has happened to me a couple of times is that when I turn on my data, the 4g pops up next to the bars but they stay grey even if I try to use something that requires an internet connection. I usually reboot the phone so it can start working again and I get blue bars again after the reboot. It only happens when I turn off the data after it's been connected I guess. Does anyone else have or have had this issue and know if there is a way to fix this?
Phone is stock. No rooting or anything.
Randomly data just stops. Maps won't load traffic, browser won't load pages, facebook won't load updates...no data.
Requires a phone reboot, or switching to wifi and back to get it to start again.
Anyone have any tips on what the cause might be, or how to fix this?
thanks
From what I can gather it's a common error, I myself have data drop outs quite regular, but mine doesn't require a reboot.

I also have this issue. What I usually do is toggle airplane mode back & forth and it works for me. Its a known issue that's supposed to be fixed with the next update.

+1 on this issue. However it's been more noticeable in the last 10 days.

Having some issues on my Nexus 5. These occur on stock, PA and Stock + GB. I haven't tried other ROMs, but I would like to stay stock honestly.
Fairly regularly my phone will lose its data connection, but still show as being connected. The LTE text is still there, and if I pull down the quick settings it is white like it is connected, not orange like it has a partial connection. But if I try to browse to a website/use any app with data connectivity, it fails. I have to toggle airplane mode to get data back. It is quite annoying as it sometimes occurs while I am streaming music in the car as well and cannot easily manipulate my phone to fix it.
Is this a common issue? Or could it be a possible hardware problem?
I seem to have this too. I can see data arrows up and down in the quick tile.
Usually it's when I drop to HSPA from HSPA+
Very annoying

Yes, even I face this issue as well and I do the same Airplane mode toggle thing to fix it.. Gets on my nerves sometimes!
Well, that's a shame.
This was in the rumored fix list for 4.4.3 I believe.

Common issue. I suffer from it as well.
