Synopsis
Okay so I am working on an app based pie that doesn't require root. It uses accessibility services to manage itself. Please don't tell me how we have so many variants of pie, if you are not a fan just move on. My long term goal is to diverge from what current variants have. I created this due to the shutdown nature of the new pie for PA 4+. I have yet to implement a lot of features. I am just throwing this out there to get both ideas and bug reports. Suggestions and requests are welcome but I promise nothing.
Current Features
Code:
- pie controls
- custom coloring
- autostart
- works in landscape and portrait
- system wide function (minus lockscreen and notification panel)
- pie custom sizing
- trigger area custom sizing (width and height)
- cm11 theme support (pulls navbar icons from the system now)
Goals (not promises)
Code:
- gravity other than bottom
- clock
- notifications
- google now/search access
- [STRIKE]custom sizing[/STRIKE] DONE
- animations
- notifications and quick toggle access (like in 4.3 version of pie)
- [STRIKE]themeable (via cm11)[/STRIKE] DONE
- per app coloring
- appstore support
- icon and slicker UI (I could use help with icon)
Bugs
Code:
- having pie up while screen lock requires reboot to end
- occasional pie gets stuck (reboot will fix)
Downloads
Code:

[URL="http://bit.ly/T0MRH8"]Version 0.0.3a[/URL]

[URL="https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxTrKYFvIq0JaklXYTJQOEd6bE0/edit?usp=sharing"]Version 0.0.1a[/URL]
Changelog
Code:
Version 0.0.4
- recoding of detection code to boost performance
- support for sound (not integrated yet)
Version 0.0.3
- quick fix to bug introduced in 0.0.2 where landscape pie wouldn't work
Version 0.0.2
- slight redesign (added gap between buttons)
- recoded pretty much everything, the old code was ugly and not modular
in order to the most basic things I would have to do a lot of coding and
going forward that is not good
- custom pie sizing, you can now choose small, medium, large
- custom trigger sizing, increase the size of the trigger if you find it too
small the only problem with this is accidental hits will be more common.
I added this last second so you need to reboot to apply (I will fix this in
the next update)
- CM11 and custom firmware theme support. It now pulls your navbar buttons
from your systemUI so it will look like your CM11 theme or touchwiz or sense
Version 0.0.1
- initial release
How to Use
Turns out a few people were confused on how to use this. Swipe up from the bottom to activate, go over the button you want to use and then release on it.

Yeah that's the goal. The only thing I would add root for is for people to hide their navbar if they have one. Otherwise all the functions I have in the app will go without root
Okay so apparently this doesnt work well with xposed enabled. Its works but its a hit and miss. Like some times registers it other times it activates google now. I will give it another try with xposed disabled.
And one more thing it doesnt seem to work in landscape. Dont know why but I shall check.
The customization features do work and they are pretty good. Simple yet powerful.
I shall keep messing around with it for more time.
EDIT:- On second try. I tried it on my note 2 and it works perfectly I think the only problem I am having is becuz main device has on screen navigation bar that's why. So if u have hardware keys u will be all right. On screen buttons might need some work.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes this is meant to replace navbar (on screen buttons). If you use gravitybox or a variety of other stuff you can hide the navbar.
Thanks again and I am working on a big update so stay tuned.
And for landscape it always puts it on the bottom of the phone so in landscape it will be on the long side down. Try that.
Subscribed, will keep an eye on this project as I'm a big fan of pie navigation.
You got featured http://www.xda-developers.com/android/dbpie-brings-pie-controls-to-non-rooted-users/
I'll give this a try. looks good.
I cant use it. Im on a Galaxy s5 and the Service it's eneabled but i cant fin the way to show the controls

Same issue with me. I tried it on Moto e 4.4.2 (not rooted). it doesnt have hard buttons. well i'll try a reboot i guess. but apart from "enabl/disable service" and "color" options. no other option works in settings. you probably have not made them available yet i guess since its alpha. but just reporting.
EDIT: After reboot got toast message that DBPie auto started" But nothing else happened.
Sounds interesting
This app sounds great, specially that you don't need root. But i almost don't see the purpose, at least for me because if my phone is non rooted this app would work (which at the moment it is not, have it enable but nothing happens) but to remove my on screen nav buttons i would need to be rooted. Unless I'm missing something, I've never found a way to permanently remove the nav buttons (and have the keyboard work) without having to be rooted, which at that point I would just use lmt. I look forward to the app progressing but would like a way to give the nav bar within this app and not need root. Thanks
Same problem as stated above. I have nexus 5 running 4.4.4
Well I guess apologies. Its working alright. But hard to make it appear. The space to enable it for devices having onscreen keys is bit too small ..
Have to touch edge of top border of existing onscreen keys to make it appear

What is the icon pack you are using?
If this would completely replace the onscreen buttons on my Moto G I would pay for the app instantly. I think the constant onscreen buttons are a waste of screen.
Can you please tell me which CM11 theme and icon pack you use? Those Settings look so gorgeous! <3

It's called flux, it's one of my favorites. It's a cm11 theme so you need a custom ROM (I use Paranoid Android)

So back around christmass I built my mod form here [MOD]Battery Bar into an app and put it on the market
it has the features of the MOD version but you don't have to mess around with modding your system files.
it uses a persistent service and overlays the battery bar on the top or bottom of the screen.
Android Police were Kind Enough to Feature it on there Blog

I have the Battery Bar Pro, latest version from the Play market (v2.0).
I have the option checked to hide the battery bar when the statusbar is hidden (for full screen apps). I am fairly certain this worked a week or two ago when I first upgraded to the Pro version.
However this no longer works. No matter what I do with that option (checked or unchecked) the bar always shows when the statusbar hides.
Phone: Motorola Triumph
Android: 4.0.4 / CM9 alpha 0.6.11.0
Battery Bar Pro version: 2.0
Not sure if this helps or not, but I have the Height set to 2. If I rotate the phone in a fullscreen game, I noticed the bar height changes to 1! Sure enough, if I use 1 as my height then when the phone is rotated it hides the bar properly. It still won't hide in portrait mode though.
I do not have the free version installed.

thx for the confirmation on the dual install, i'll look into it.
pvy, any chance on ever adding multicolored battery bar? Like at 100%... it would show green, orange, and red colors at once instead of just green? It would make things more colorful and interesting also a bit of nostalgia for the old Windows Mobile 5 battery bar app. Sorry, I know I have asked this before but not sure if the idea got passed or forgotten or what Eitherway, great work guy!

Thx bro
Is there any difference in battery/cpu resources used between the mod and the app? On the one hand, I already have a crapload of apps and don't wanna add another unless I have to so I'd like to use the mod. On the other hand, I'm lazy when it comes to doing mods like this, so I'd prefer the app. Then again, having another service running sounds like it would consume (some) additional resources so again, I prefer the mod. On the final hand, I'm extremely unlucky when it comes to doing mods like this, so I prefer the app...
I have no idea what's going on...
:thumbup::beer:
Edit: nvm, looks like the app has more features. Free version worked as advertised, getting the paid version, nice work here! Keep it up!
Is there anyway you could maybe add a % left somewhere in the drag down ?

ive noticed a stronger LTE connection.. Touchless Control is more responsive in louder environments. I like being able to switch launchers with ease.. I go from the stock moto launcher to kit kat to nova so easily to show customers (i work for a Verizon Indirect retailer)

- The status bar transparency (only enabled by default on the lockscreen, though Nova supports it as well) is kinda cool, but it also looks kinda dumb since Verizon made Motorola keep the icons blue istead of white for some reason.
- On the bright side, I can now see the battery percentage inside the icon at all times since it's white-on-blue instead of white-on-white like on Nexus devices.
- I like how it now displays full-screen album art on the lockscreen while music is playing (though now I'll have to put some time into higher-res artwork)
- Being able to select my launcher directly from the system settings is pretty convenient.
- The drag-to-focus update for the camera is a pretty cool.
- I enabled ART but honestly didn't notice too much a difference, and had to revert back to Dalvik due to WhatsApp being incompatible with ART.
(Minor) downsides:
- The battery icon is no longer aligned with the signal bars
- The notification icons are still blue
- No KitKat dialer (yet?)
- No camera icon with on the lockscreen

Just a reply, after you enable battery percentage, you can remove the app and the change stays. Seems like all Android devices 4.4 can do the percent naively, this just toggles this setting.
Wonder what other hidden settings are in KitKat.

One plus is that I lost root lol. I need it as everybody else!
I'm a Fitbit user and take a lot of pictures. For me, the update (Fitbit support and touch-to-focus) obviously makes an everyday difference.
I use MX Player while I exercise, almost every day. Immersive mode with it is nice. More apps will have to adopt this before it becomes something I really care about. The thing where the lockscreen has music art is more of a noticeable design upgrade. Together, the immersive thing, lockscreen art, and transparent notification (I actually hide mine, though) make for the beginnings of a feeling of a polished and cool UX.
The thing to do would be to get two phones next to each other, one with the update and one without, and see if the updated one really is snappier (including task switching).
EDIT - Totally forgot: The wireless charging sound respecting my volume setting as well as the volume coming back on in the morning after Assist finishes sleep mode are huge. SO glad to have those issues resolved.
Yeah, so after a ton of fear of making the move to 4.4 Completely worth it.
When it started booting back up and rooted still (YAY) 4.4 is amazing.
Gravitybox + Xtheme (nexus 5 theme), you really can't tell the difference.
Just cant wait for Xposed to support ART. every reboot switches back to Dalvik
Another downside to 4.4 if not rooted is it removes native USB OTG. Menova USB drive no longer works without 3rd party software. Kinda pissed about this one.

I wanted to have my Quick window case working with CM11 based roms so I went to work. I found Alex Burka's "Hall Monitor" app for the Galaxy S4 and figured that it would be a great starting point for our device. I ran into problems because the way Hall Monitor works is by receiving changes in the proximity sensor and then verifying that the Hall Effect sensor has changed states. On the LG G2, the window case doesn't trigger the proximity sensor when it closes and thus causes that method to fail. I decided to change it to use the light sensor instead and it seems to work pretty well. I also had to edit the app to point to the right place to check for the state of our hall sensor and the dimensions to match our window vs the S4's.
I haven't done extensive testing on this app yet but I figured there are a lot of others that want this feature and can help test it. I still need to modify the layout of the alarm snooze / dismiss buttons and the phone answer / hangup buttons, so you may want to hold off on using those features. The screenshot shows the torch feature enabled in the window and that seems to work.
Features:
Close case and the clock comes up for 10 seconds (adjustable) and then phone locks and sleeps.
Open case and the phone wakes and the lockscreen appears (I haven't gotten it to unlock it yet).
Background color picker
Clock text color picker
Torch button in window

Pick custom music widget (WIP)
Use your own widget for window instead of the default (WIP)

Installation Instructions:
Download the apk and install it like any other apk.
Open the app and check the "Enable" checkbox and be sure to grant it the device administrator rights when prompted.
Check the "Root Enable" box and grant it root permissions.
Profit!
I tested this application with root so I don't know what issues you may run into if you don't grant it root. The device administrator permission is necessary for it to interact with the lock screen. This is my first attempt at modifying an Android application so be gentle.
Special thanks to Alex Burka for creating the Hall Monitor application and sharing his code!
Enjoy!!

Not using this now, but maybe in the future at some point. Just went back to a LG rom because of the quick window. Thanks for your efforts
I just tried with the 1/1/14 cm11 and not having any luck getting the clock to show. It does lock the screen but no clock. I can sometimes see the clock screen when I'm opening the case, but it disappears and goes to the normal cm lock screen. I did rollback to an older cm (12/12/13) and it works there. I can stay with the older cm but wondering if you had any ideas what might be causing the issue on the newer nightlies. This is the verizon g2.
Thanks for the hard work. This was what was keeping me from cm as well.
EDIT: Works with the 12/30 nightly
Another 'issue/caveat'. The app does not appear to work correctly in the dark. Makes sense since its using the light sensor.
Houston's rom recently fixed the smart cover detection such that when I close the lid the screen turns off. Not sure if this helps but there might be hints to detecting it in his code?
Sent from my LG-G2 using Tapatalk
This is great, do you plan on continuing to develop it? If so, are you going to post sources? It would be nice to hack on it a bit and try to achieve some LG ROM level functionality, since we have much more room to make use of than on the S4.
I found the code change that's causing the screen to close in the nightlies after 12/30.
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andr...mmit/635b0420991288cb1cb80b9baea0544b6da232f0
But it doesn't appear that that config string is an option presented in the UI to actually turn off.
Nice app, looking forward for updates and more functions.
Thanks
Nice job.
I'll test on PA.
No luck running cm11. It wants to work but nothing comes up with when the case is closed. when I open it i can see the window pop up for a couple seconds on top of my home screen. not sure if they latest fix to allow the magnetic wakelock works is jacking up your work. On that note im excited to see someone working on this.

This is great, do you plan on continuing to develop it? If so, are you going to post sources? It would be nice to hack on it a bit and try to achieve some LG ROM level functionality, since we have much more room to make use of than on the S4.

I went back to the stock rom for now but I haven't given up on this. Yes, I will upload my source code and post a link in the OP, in case anyone wants to contribute.

That functionality was all I wanted from CM. To turn off the screen when I close the lid and unlock it when I open it.
I've tried to install this on LG stock ROM (with root), it gives me "package parsing error".
It's not working on my LG G2 D802 with Cyanogenmod 10.20.

Where would this file be located? I'm not huge into development.. But I want to play.

my phone started acting up freezing and rebooting after flashing some of these...anyone else??
@DruoGaby, I would venture to say that any of the developers would do their best to help, but I hope you understand that your post is to vague to help with.
Lets start with:
What device do you have?
Who is your provider?
Are you Rooted?
Stock or custom Rom?
Stock or custom Kernel?
Recovery?
What did you flash before you noticed issues?
I can help you the best I can, but this thread is not for that. Please read the posts and issues that have already been talked about in each of the related threads.
Thank you
Although root is more important to me, a good wishlist item would be to modify Samsung pay to work on rooted devices. Not necessarily impossible once devs see how it works. Just like when Google Wallet worked with certain devices, there were some mods that worked on non supported devices

That's a good point of view, I referenced a reset for Knox, but a possible work around for Rooted devices is another way to achieve the same result.
I'm currently set up with Google wallet, but haven't tried to use it. Lol. I forget every time I could try.

It works fine..... I still use Google Wallet. If Samsung pay won't work, no biggie for me. I prefer root over that
The slightly modified 5.1.1 rooted kernel does maintain the night clock fix unless you are talking about the 5.0.2 kernel. If these fixes are just for 5.0.2 and not 5.1.1 you should put that in the OP

remove select keyboard notification from status bar (a constant annoyance for those of us with custom keyboards)
Thanks, to all the Devs who make a decent phone great!
It would also be great to remove ICE - emergency contacts from first spot in contacts list

Please dont take any of these wish list items the wrong way Ram. We all appreciate what you're doing for us, its just a consecrated location for the majority to request future mods.
As individuals, different options benefit more than others.

Currently iam testing this app. I think iam very much happy with the test. Will suggest this to my friends.
The plus point i noticed in this app is , it do not require any usage or accessibility permissions.

There is a delay of 2 to 3 seconds for the app to show animation, and that can be really notable with naked eye . When I click home button it won't show animation immediately after 2,3 seconds it starts to show up.
good app . looks nice and fluid very material good to know they are developers who care about material design..
bought the pro version
good job
edit: it works very well with my s8+ with an overlay navbar thank you
Im currently using it.. and found that it approximately uses 110 MB of RAM which is quite large.. please try to fix it
Thank you for this item. Nice working.
Are long press functionalities still working ?
Great app ever but free overlays are very less?
Nice app. Needs some improvements.
But lags a lot in a Snapdragon 400 device with 1 GB of RAM. I'm using falcon with RR 5.8.5. Sometimes the animation gets stuck in the middle and stays there forever.
But I don't expect it to work super fluid on a device like falcon because of hardware limitation.
Pretty interesting. Trying it out now. Awesome that it doesn't need root or xposed
**(Update)**
Very sporadic on my LG V20 H918. It mainly only activates on my home button and then will play a few more times randomly without even touching the navbar.
Animations are pretty cool though. Nice & smooth and the animation speed setting is a good idea.
Definitely looking forward to this app's progression ?
Working Nice.:good:
Tesla ROM N on honor5x 2gb RAM. Will check battery.
ช
Downloaded the app and checked out the free animations, since those ones were well made I decided to buy pro. But I've noticed there's a slight delay between pressing the button and seeing the animation. Also when I switch apps by pressing the recents key twice the animation plays which looks odd. I'm not a developer but I think this app would work better with Accessibility services listening for a home button press.

The animation is played after the home button is pressed, so definitely there is very small delay which is not noticeable. A 2-3 second delay means the issue is device specific, most probably due to low RAM. I will try to minimize the existing small delay in the future updates.

Hi, its strange that the animations play randomly on your phone. However there is a small issue where you press the recents button and select an app and the animation plays, may be that is what you are talking about?
Thank you! Do stay tuned for new animations and updates.
Works really well on Pixel XL with stock Android 8.0.
Only downside - I now have two additional persistent notifications: one from the system (app running in the background) and one from the app itself.
