Hi guys, I've got a Note 8.0 and I'm happy with It because I can use It as phone (3G version).
Does the LTE version of the note pro support the phone functionality? Can I use it to make phone calls? Of course I work with bluetooth earphones.
Thank you
Antonio
The answer is yes. I use my Note 12.2 with LTE to make calls, send texts, surf the web, etc. I'm using lg tone bluetooth stereo headset. Works like a champ.
Yes, I've used it (P905) to make phonecalls through my Bluetooth headset and my regular earphones.
Thanks

Does anyone have any experience using this and SideSync with a Galaxy phone? I just realized a couple days ago, while watching an LG presentation, that we probably had a feature that was similar.

The LTE version of the Note 12.2 has basically the same phone dialer, text message, browser, etc. that's found on all Galaxy phones. It's just displayed on a 12.2 screen. Wanna make a call? Tap the phone icon and dial away like you would do on any modern cellphone. Rince and repeat for text messaging, email, web browsing, etc. That's the point of getting the LTE version. It turns the tablet into a giant cell phone and you get the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, instead of the Samsung Exynos processor to boot.

- Buy the tablet
- Start the tablet
- Open the app drawer.
That's it.
This is full 100% unaltered stock. These apps came pre-installed out of the box.
This is the p905 4G edition, not the p900 WiFi Only. The WiFi only model doesn't have a 3G/4G radio.

Ah, yes. There you have it. US Branded versions are notorious for shortselling their customers in this manner.

Is there any way to get the stock dialer and message on the 907a?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-P907A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The dialer and message apps are already on it you just have to find a way to get them to work. I have the Verizon variant and downloaded a dialer app and when I tried to run it the tablet asked what app to use at default and the dialer app was one of the choices. But it wouldn't run. It is also listed in the app manager under all apps.
If it's listed as an app in the app manager, you could probably add a shortcut to it through Apex or Nova. Or possibly with Zooper Widget, which also has shortcuts to apps.

Quite good but the fps is a little bit low
This is true. Other downside of SideSync: no word gliding for you.
I did discover some upsides, including being able to drag files from my file manager onto it, and opening a movie from my phone that played on my tablet (instant media streaming).
And like an idiot, I still haven't tried placing a call.
Help, no Phone
Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, I just had major surgery and some problems concentrating
I just purchased the Verizon Note Pro 12 today and there is no phone icon anywhere..
I have searched through every spot on that thing and cannot find it. I have the Note 3 phone and other samsung stuff so I am pretty used to their systems..
..Is there something I need to do special to find this because I am about to having a multi-hundred dollar discus.
Yes it is 4G, yes i have the Sim card inserted, yes it told me my phone number, but no phone or dialer icons exists, and I am supossed to be using this on a trip in a day and a half so would like to know its functions.
Thanks everybody..

I forgot about that one +1
The voice wasn't working for me. The video was but I could only see their video, they couldn't see mine.
EDIT: Scratch that. Voice works both ways. Video still only works one way and I still don't appear to the user to have voice/video capability, but I can call them.
It installs okay for me. Running superaosp v6.2, but the voice chat options are grayed out. Maybe because of my rom?
Edit: okay now it's working. Weird.

If you have a 2.3 rom on it, it might. It seems 2.3.4 might be required for it to work 100% though. If you are running 2.2.x or lower, it won't work since it uses the new camera API in Gingerbread.
Does this enable me to dial to any phone number using my Google Voice account (ie no cell phone minutes) similar to the function in Gmail on a PC?
I think it works only on WIFI. If I try calling someone on mobile data, it asks for WIFI connection. Anybody else having this issue. Sorry if I am missing something very basic here ( CM 7.0.2)

just look at the link in the OP:

No voice nexus one
Tried several versions on my nexus one:
gtalk1.3.nowifi.ffc-signed.zip
JVQ_Talk2_v1_2.zip
talk1.3.nowifi.v2-signed.zip
used adb to install
All claim to be talk1.3
But I don't see any voice icon, and in a chat, selecting 'more' shows voice chat is grayed out.
I DID enable voice/video.
Only thing I can think of is I'm on 3g, not wifi ATM. But several of these versions should allow voice on 3g, right?
If you want to make calls from your tab just go to the market and get NetTalk it is free and work great using both wifi and data for placing calls. Only downside is no inbound calls, hey but I am sure someone will build a workaround.

I can't find this app in the market, can post a link to it? Thx.
EDIT: found it in webmarket, but says its not compatible with galaxy tab....does anyone have a link to the apk file?
Groove IP and Google Voice, it works like a charm so far. I have my Tab rooted and can call normally, but I wanted wifi calling, without Skype. This app did the trick, it's actually pretty amazing. This should work on a wifi only tab as well.
The app is like $4 and worth it. I am still tweaking the call quality settings, but I am happy. You can find the Facebook page if you need to talk to the dev, and he/she seems pretty responsive.

If your using CM9 or 10, this works great: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823701
yes
I was sick and tired of trying to find a straight answer, and ended up buying one without knowing.
Here's your answer : YES
The samsung galaxy tab 7 plus (the version with 3g, NOT the wifi only version) can be used as a normal phone to make calls and send sms WITHOUT any additional software.

That's interesting. I wouldn't have thought so. I believe the other responses on this thread are about the wi-fi only version of the Tab. I know mine is. The OP didn't specify which version, leaving everyone free to make assumptions. :silly:
I was thinking about purchasing a Samsung Galaxy Music Player 5.0 for my mom but for the price/specs I notice a used Infuse is a better deal. I was thinking of just buying a used Infuse off ebay and turning it into just a Music Player/Camera. Is there way to make the phone work with out a sim card? and without it displaying no sim card?
Yes u can use it wothout the simcard but will show a sign in the status bar that there in no simcard.

I gave my daughter my hd2 when I left t-mo. I put android on it (basically the only way that phone was usable) and she uses it for games and YouTube just fine. I even found an app that was free that gave her a phone number and a way to send and receive texts with as long as she's on wifi. Next time I'm playing around I'm going to see if I can use that number to sign her up for a voip service.

You can use Google Voice in conjunction with app such as Talkatone, get a number from Google and make/receive free calls and text over WiFi.
I use this setup with my N7 and it works great.....no data plan or phone service required...and even better, these are free apps!!!
Also set the phone to airplane mode. Then toggle on wifi.
Airplane mode may stop it from searching for phone radio signal and conserve battery. I don't know if not having a sim card in will already do that.
Airplane mode on her phone is constant.

Hangouts, tango, Skype. There is no option in the stock dialer app for video calls.
I think the standard video calls fell out of favour several years ago so some don't bother adding it as a feature

The network supports it. Me and my friend haven't find any 3rd party dialer app or anyithing. It is a pretty useless feture for me, because video call price is high, but for my friend in the country where he lives the price of the video call is the same as the normal call.
I read it somewhere that video call is not supported at all in the USA through carrier networks. I think that could be the reasone why it is missing. D820 and D821 share the exact same software.
I think its missing because no one really uses it. About 10 years ago, it was popular for about year but after that no one used it really as its pretty pointless. Particularly now we have better data infrastructures and people can use their allowance
