Hi guys,
I am trying to root my Sony Z1C (D5503) and I have read about the new towel root method. There is a topic on towel root and Xperia phones including Z1C (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784900&page=7) but there is nothing about using this method with a Mac and I can't figure out how to do that.
There is a way to put the adb drivers on mac (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1917237 although I was not able to reset the path, not sure why) but that's as far as I went.
I cannot post on the development section for now but I thought that maybe some other users stumbled across a similar Mac/ Towel root issue as this new method works with a lot of phones.
Or to put it simply, if not with towel root is there a way to root relatively easily a Z1C on mac ?
Thanks
Since you are not yet able to post in Development, you can post this question in the Q&A Forum.
Here is a Nice Tutorial on getting the requisite Post Count. Postcount limit in developmental fora
Will do it right away thanks !
Yeah, I didn't find anything useful to say but didn't want to spam to get to 10 posts ^^ ! Oh well, it will go up soon enough

I've read some guides and what not for rooting my Transformer, and I'm still lost.
I just need the stuff that came in the OTA update that was pulled, and I'd like root access.
Can someone write an idiots guide to doing all this....
I'm not sure why this was moved, seems it would be better in the devlopment section, but whatever.
Still, anyone?

It's because there shouldn't be questions in the dev section. Also the posted guide in the dev section from apache14 is as detailed as it ever could be (every step is explained in detail), what more are you looking for?
Rooting methods involving adb can look intimidating, but if you read carefully and follow the directions its really not that difficult. I haven't rooted my asus yet but I recently rooted my thunderbolt and xoom. The asus method looks no more complicated.

Hi all I know there is a lot of guides on here for rooting Xooms, but after trying to root my Australian Xoom and bricking it I would really appreciate if someone can write a guide detailing all the steps from what software is need to how to root and install HC3.1
Like I said I know there is a lot of guides on here but I cant risk doing the wrong rooting process again, as the shop wont fall for a faulty app install twice !
Many thanks to all the devs on here making our Xooms so much better!!
What about this one

Hi yes I have seen this one but the guides it links too are not really newbie friendly, they assume I already know what they are talking about

I had no idea what adb was until a week ago, i just went through it all step by step. Its not that hard to learn, as long as you follow it exactly as written you can't go too wrong. If you have any problems there's heaps of people here who can help you anyway.
There is a few guides in the Q & A section, which is where this should have been posted also.

Not development. Moved to Q&A.
The methods for rooting the A500 don't work on the A200. I was wondering if anyone has had any success with this.
What I really intend to do is wirelessly pair the PS3 controller to it. Works fine over USB without a root, but who wants to deal with cables? NOBODY.
No clear documentation available in the dev forums for it anyhow, if there is a method. The lack of an A200 forum itself had me a bit cockeyed too.
Alternatively I've heard something about programming the tablet's MAC address into the controller? Haven't been having very good luck finding out more information on that through google, either.

At this time there is no root. Tab Is still purty new and has an update about to drop. Seems no one wants to work on it and then loose that work when ICS hits. There is no forum and may never be one. Hard to say. Sucks tho..the lamer a100 has one.....
yeah they just pushed a new update last night in fact.
Would probably be nice to lump the Acer tabs into one forum if thats the case.
Recieved ics update and waiting for root
So I got the ice update to the device and it works great. I'm hoping to see root instructions very soon. Does anybody know if someone is working in this?

Cause I can't post URLs yet I found "unlockroot . com"
So I found this site has anyone tried this as of yet. Says it can root ICS for the a200 so I'm actually curious if this works. I'm not able to do it till later tonight so if anyone gets a chance could you let me know if it works?
Tryed "unlockroot"
So I just got home and tried the unlockroot method with no success. i installed the drivers from acer put it in usb debugging mode. Clicked root and it showed the device. I didn't get any errors but the device did not root. Total bummer. If it works for any of you guys please let me know maybe i'm doing it wrong.
How would you know if its rooted?
how to know if you have root
If you install a root application and check if it works that's the best way to know. For instance if you try to install busy box it will fail if you don't have root. If you have root it will successfully install. That's the best way I know off.

Thread moved to Q&A due to it being a question. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
Failure to comply with forum rules will result in an infraction and/or ban depending on severity of rule break.
Root in progress
There is a thread on AcerTabletForum. (What a pity, no a200 section on xda )
A method to root 4.0.3 leaked is described
http://www.acertabletforum.com/forum/acer-a200-general-discussions/3589-solved-acer-a200-rooted.html
and sorry for my very poor english
I've been advised that Titanium Backup is the best backup solution for the GT-P6210. That's fine and lovely. Apparently I have to root the device first... There appears to be dozens of topics on this but no concise - dare I say 'idiots guide' - to rooting.
I'm a newbie to Android but have been nobbing around with Windows for longer than I care to mention so I would like to think that I'd be okay with doing this, I'm just looking for a nice and simple root guide to set me on my way.
Would anyone be in a position to point me in the direction please?
err did you forget that you've already ask...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1555297
hey so ive never rooted an android device and the shield tablet root thread is kinda dead and i didnt understand it. so can anyone give me a really thorough explanation on how to root my tablet, also ive already installed lollipop.
Hi,
I am assuming you men shield tablet, not 2.0 version?
It would be best to ask for help in the thread you are trying to follow.
Is this it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/shi...t-root-nvidia-shield-tablet-lollipop-t2972316
I will say this.... It should be as simple as following the instructions one step at a time... Exactly as they are written. If you don't understand it, you likely should read up on this some more. Before you do anything. Asking people will just lead to them quoting the same instructions to you.
Doing this stuff to our devices is dangerous if we are lost. If you value your device and don't want to ruin it, I'd read as much as you can from your device section and learn about the things you don't understand.
Just my 2 cents. ?
Good luck!
