I'd love this feature too. Especially for playing videos that have the audio and video tracks already separated (eg. m4v and m4a files of the same name). Ideally in this case the app could detect that the video file had no audio and then pick up the similarly named audio track and play that.

yes, this is the MOST WANTED feature I need for MX Player (or Pro).
I got a huge movie collection in MKV files, many of them are not packed with my native language audio stream and my littlle child is too young to read subtitles, actually I can get the native autio stream perfectly match these movies.
so now I have to repack these MKVs to enable the audio selection in MX player, this will change the original files that I cannot continue seeding them

edit: and the external audio stream files may in the file type of MKA, DTS, AC3, etc.

asking for media player

I have a dreambox and it have iptv it runs with vlc and is in a video .m3u. I want to playback that on my htc desire. Is it possable?
m3u is an MP3 audio playlist. That's not going to be very useful for video.
vlc should be able to serve videos over rtsp, and all Android phones are able to play rtsp. You just need to make sure they're encoded as H.263 or H.264.

No audio in video mp4 video format

It is because Galaxy S can't playback audio with 6 channels , i did not try this my self but that is what others observed.
Yes, I think it's limited to 5.1 channel audio encoded videos.
Also, that 4608kbps audio rate is awfully high.
Try using rockplayer and see if it works.
Was having a hard time w a video, wouldn't work in act1 nor the stock video player, worked great on rockplayer
Free on android market
Keep in mind Rockplayer is purely software player , it will not take advantage of phones Hardware acceleration , it will not play high resolution with good bitrate without dropping frames like crazy.
It would be better just to recode audio track.
I was just curious, because this was the same file that I had on my SD card that was in my BB Bold, which was able to play it???

Feature Request: Subtitle/Lyrics Support

MX Player is a good apps for playing video files. It support many video formats and subtitles.
MX Player also capable plying audio files. But I think, MX Player still lacks of feature as music player. One of them is, lyrics feature.
The lyrics can came from metadata tag from the audio file itself, or just like video subtitle (searching subtitle files in the file folder).
I hope MX Player will be able to show plain lyrics (.txt) and also lyrics with timestamp (.lrc) and common subtitles (.srt, .ass) while playing audio files.
Thank you.
MX Player is primarily a video player. If you want audio player features, you should go with something like Poweramp Music Player.

M2V & M4V is already there in supported extension list.
DAT is a common extension. It may contain any data like text, graphics or videos. VCDs use it as a mpeg container. Just add it to Settings >> List >> File extensions. It can be played in S/W decoder.
Similarly M2P is a streaming container for MPEG2 & ASX for ASF. Since MPEG2 & ASF are supported by MXPlayer, Just add these extensions too in Settings >> List >> File extensions. It can be played in S/W decoder.

Exporting the High-Res audio from videos?

Hi, im having the following issue when trying to share the videos i recorded with my HTC U11, hope there is some fix for this.
I recorded a video with High-Res and the only way to share this video is with .mkv format, but the video needs to be edited and when is imported to Premiere there is no audio, neither if i convert the video to mp4 with media encoder, also tried to convert with VLC but no success.
Is there anyway or option that i missing to either extract the audio and insert it on a mp4, or convert the entire video to mp4 with audio?
Thanks.
Try media converter by antvplayer.
