My inspire keeps powering off at ranodm times and has gotten worse. If its plugged into a power source it will stay on, but the second its pulled off theres a huge chance that it will just randomly power off. I've wiped the battery stats, factory rest a bunch of times, tried multiple roms and radios and can't find a solution. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

I know it sounds like he's being an ass, but I think he's right. I have the exact same problem. Used CoreDroid, MIUI, & HoneySense 4 & 5 and they all randomly rebooted. I noticed that after I powered back on, the battery level would be significantly different. It got progressively worse as the battery level drops. Once I get to about 23%, it just turns off when I try to do anything. I speculate that the sudden increase in battery drain from the screen getting bright & the radio draws more current than the battery can provide.
To test, I got my phone to the point that it would turn off every time I booted it. It would show the homescreen & say that it had 18% battery. I then plugged it in to the USB charger & it works fine. I'll be replacing the battery ASAP.
this happend to me on CM7 and MIUI twice and the first time i just flashed off of CM7 and it stooped and on MIUI i just rebooted the phone while connected to the charger then when it was completely booted up i unplugged it and it was fine after that but that time it was caused by letting my battery die down and then i kept booting up my phone to completely deplete the battery and did this about 20 times and it wouldn't die so i just changed out batteries and when i booted and it would immediately power down like the battery was dead so thats when i plugged it in and powered on and it worked, and i know its not the battery because i have 4 batteries

Ok then, you "know" it's not the battery - so what is your speculation? Until I get the spare batteries I ordered today, I won't be able to fully test the battery theory. I can only say with certainty that the phone doesn't shutdown while plugged in.
I could also go along with another theory - The Thunderbolt got a recent OTA update that makes them randomly shutdown. Is it possible that a piece of that code made it into the new Gingerbread ROMs? I didn't note the issue running CoreDroid 6.4 (a GB build but the last to use EXT3 instead of EXT4 and was also released before the TB OTA update), but only after upgrading to 6.5. Could it be some finicky problem with EXT4?

Actually, forget this part. I forgot I used HoneySense 4.0 with EXT3 & still had the random shutdown problem.
with it plugged in do a nandroid backup and then restore to stock then restore back with only restoring system and data
I know its not the battery because it will stay in CWM for several minutes and much longer than it does on without any random shutdowns. Going to try the return to stock and reflash method and post back.
Ok, so that I get this right, the test plan is to: flash back to stock, re-root & then reflash to a new ROM such as Coredroid 6.8? If that's what one of you are going to do, then I'll do it also so we can see if we get the same results.
Well, I actually downgraded to RUU_Ace_Cingular_US_1.80.502.3_Radio_12.39.60.19_26.06.04.06_M_release_166557_signed, went through Bubby's One Click and the damned phone shutdown upon boot to the first image of Bubby's. I figured MAYBE something was wrong with Bubby's One Click as I had originally used the ACE hack kit.
I reverted back to RUU_Ace_Cingular_US_1.80.502.3_Radio_12.39.60.19_26.06.04.06_M_release_166557_signed again & decided to use it for a minute to see if it shutdown and it DID!
There is either (A) a problem with my battery or (B) a problem with the charging system on my phone. This IS NOT a firmware/radio issue! It may be different for you, but I'm positive about my phone now. I'm going to wait until my new batteries come in on Wednesday and if it acts the same, I'll be replacing my phone under warranty. I should also note - I've never overclocked this phone, so I don't want anyone fear-mongering the N00BS about "see what overclocking will get you"!

Yes. I noticed the shutdowns started about 1½ to 2 weeks ago. It got more frequent as time went on. The phone is practically unusable now unless I leave it plugged in. I suspect that if it is indeed the battery, it may even start shutting down when plugged in since the phone will turn off if you remove the battery when it's plugged in. Just a hunch.

Well, bummer dude. I called AT&T and they said that the battery was covered under warranty & they'd be happy to send me one right out. The only problem was that they didn't have any in stock! They offered to credit my account with whatever I have to spend on replacing the battery myself. When I get the 2 batteries from Amazon & make sure they work, I'll get the credit for them applied to my account. It was only $25 for 2 batteries & charger shipped.
I called my local AT&T Corp stores to see if they had any batteries for the Inspire & they didn't either. Me thinks this widespread shortage of batteries could be indicative of a bigger problem.
WoW! Here's the feel-good part of this story....
As I posted earlier, AT&T service didn't have the battery to send me. I couldn't find a battery anywhere - I called the 2 AT&T Corp strores, BestBuy and Batteries +.
I went to the AT&T Corp store where I bought the phone & signed in for help. The girl came over to help as I was explaining to her what was happening & telling her that I wanted to take the battery out of her demo phone to make sure it was the battery. If it wasn't, then I could call service back & have them ship me a repalcement phone instead of having to wait until the batteries I ordered off of Amazon arrived.
She told me that she didn't want me to mess her floor phone up & offered to go in the back & get a phone to test with. She came back with a new battery still in the plastic. I popped it in and sure enough, it has been the battery! I told her thanks and that I felt a lot better knowing that it was indeed the battery.
She insisted that I keep the new battery since there were none to be found & she would "adjust" the phone she took the new battery from. I assume "adjust" is speak for "send it back as defective". I'm really positive about the whole experience, especially since she didn't have to do that at all. You can bet I'll be going back to that Corp store & buying from that rep when I'm ready to get my Samsung Galaxy S II!

Uh...did you read ANY of the thread or just post a reply? It seems rather obvious that there's a battery problem. Maybe you could do some of the same or similar testing we did to see if you have similar results?
The only thing I didn't say in all of this is that I got my phone on 2/14/11. So I've had it almost exactly 4 months before the problem really came up.
I just got my new One S a couple of days ago, and I'm one of the lucky few (or many maybe??) that don't have a problem with the chipping of the MAO...
I'm having a different problem though... Or actually i think it's two different problems.
One of them is the following: (and this is probably my own fault for not starting up the battery properly)
I got the phone friday in the mail, but I hadn't yet gotten my micro sim, and I had to leave for the weekend so i left the phone at home and brought my old one on the trip, but i forgot to shut down the One S, and the battery of course died over the weekend, even though I was supposed to fully charge it first to get the battery going..
But here is the problem, and this terrified me!!!
I couldn't get the phone started for like 20 minutes after I plugged it in to the charger.. The power button just made the three buttons in the bottom flash a couple of times, without starting up the phone... Eventually i got it going, but it really scared me.. Now when the phone runs out of battery it still needs around 5 minutes of charging before i can turn it on again... Am I the only one experiencing this?
The other problem, and this is the big one..
Two times the phone have shut down on me without any provocation... I pick it up, and hit the on-button, and the phone boots.. Meaning it was turned off.
And this is NOT because the battery died, as it has been at around 40% battery left.
Does anyone know why this happens? And if there is anything to do about it?
Also am I the only one?
Try a master reset; if it keeps happening, contact whoever you bought it from or HTC and exchange the handset.
Anyone come across this? I put it on standby last night after reading a bit of my book on it, and it had around 50% power remaining. This morning, it was totally unresponsive; pressing the power button does nothing at all. I've charged it for 12 hours in the meantime.
I've done the following all with and without the power attached:
- Pressed and held power for 15 seconds through to a minute
- Pressed and held volume up with power to attempt to get into recovery for up to a minute
- Pressed and held volume down with powerfor up to a minute
- Pressed and held power while touching screen (read that one off another forum)
I guess potentially it could be on and in a crashed state and unresponsive to the power, so maybe in a weeks time when it runs out of juice, I'll be able to charge it and power it back up, but in the meantime, I'd welcome suggestions.
A few weeks ago I updated it to the official ICS build that was released, but did the update myself rather than using KIES, as KIES didn't even recognise my Tab's firmware original version. It's been absolutely fine before the update, and since. I only mention it because I've read about the Samsung build of ICS being prone to self bricking itself, but I couldn't determine what the symptoms of this vulnerability were.
Thanks for any help offered,
Will
did you try connecting USB cable and plugging it into your PC? did u get any activity? can ADB recognize your tab?
I think your tab just ran out of juice and the battery's protection circuit has kicked in. Try taking it to an electronic shop and plugging in different chargers preferably one with an output more than 2.1 amps to kickstart the charging. Plug it in and wait till the charging animation starts.

Had the same problem while on holidays. Once the battery goes below a certain level, you won't be able to charge it through USB any more. Instead you need to use the wall charger.
I think it's bad enough that the 7.7 doesn't have a micro USB port, but things like that are just stupid and Samsung made a big mistake here. It don't think it's the same with the newer tablets though. It's also not possible to just buy cables or chargers for this strange Samsung port, so when you forget your wall charger at home at some point you won't be able to use your tablet any more.
As long as you charge with the USB cable early enough, you can avoid it though.
A few months ago I experienced the same thing, the Tab just wouldn't turn on anymore.
I tried all there is without any luck.
Contacted amazon and they replaced it with a new one in less than 48 hours.
So far not Problems with the new device.
I have the P6800 and this morning I took it off charge. Put it into standby and only used it for about 20 mins then left in standby all day. It had about 95% remaining when I did so.
Picked it up this evening and the lower left area of the screen was warm and it would not switch on. Didn't think of the ADB idea but will try this next time but I had to reset it and when it powered on tonight after the reset, it was down to 15%. Within about 2 mins of checking stuff it was down to 3%.
Something is running when it is in standby but as I can't switch it on I can't check with BetterBatteryStats or CPUState to know what is wrong.
It does this every day. I am tempted to do a factory reset and reinstall only limited software.
Dave...
I see this thread is a little old but this has just happened to my P6810 too. A pity nobody reported back what the end result was.
My device had at least 95% battery last night but today I can't get it to respond at all, I've tried the wall charger and still nothing.
Anything else someone could suggest for me?
Edit. I tried getting anything from it connected to my PC but it couldn't find a device there. However I then tried it on the wall charger again and now get a blue battery icon, quite big, with a five step animation indicating that it is charging.
No idea how it went flat as the battery on this lasts a long time assuming the screen isn't on. When it boots properly I'll have a look at what the most recent apps I installed were as it has only done this once. Before this it has been perfect for the three weeks I've had it.

hhmmm, interesting.
I was having trouble with wifi just before this happened. Both my GS2 and this have been claiming to connect to my wifi but aren't actually getting an IP address from it.
I can't remember if it was last night or the night before but I manually set an IP address, the signal strength is fine as my abode isn't very big.
After it has recharged I'll have a poke and see what I can find, thanks for the reply.
So my device seems to be working fine again. It had gone SO flat that the date and time were incorrect!
After I could power it on I had a look at Better Battery Stats and nothing looked wrong so I have no idea what happened. None of the apps I'd installed the day before it played up had long wakelocks and weren't running when I turned it off.
For reference they were:
My Tracks
MyTrails
Google Earth
AndSMB
I'd turned both of the GPS tracking devices off before I turned it off for the night.
It hasn't played up since but it hasn't been long so I'll see what happens.
Yeah, the sleep of death is incredibly annoying. Honestly, the GTab 7.7 is a **** device. Samsung made way too many mistakes and won't do anything to fix it.
A similar thing happens to me every once in awhile. The way i check to make sure everything alright is to see if it boots into download mode. I just leave it plugged in for a couple hours and it eventually comes back on.

this is why my 7.7 is the last tablet/phone from Samsung i'll never trust them they are just bombarding the market with new devices and leaving the old ones to dust

Unbelievable! ... this trick still works ... thank you very much for you help ...
^^ yo, this 'trickle charge' trick did NOT work on my (long) dead P6800... any other suggestions??
Quite strange because my Samsung GT-P6800 tablet was fully charged, it went completely blank dark as if it was off. To my amazement, SMS keeps dropping and calls kept coming in. Yet it is still as blank as though the tab was off. I pressed the power button and the volume up bottom for it to reboot. It rebooted without the screen coming up. It has been blank for two days now. What could be the cause? And what possible solution can be given?
Hello All!
Three days ago I updated my GS3 to JB 4.1.1. I also ODIN'd TWRP onto my phone as a recovery and loaded SuperSU with an unlocked bootloader onto my phone along with BusyBox. I fell in love with my phone again as JB ran smoothly and I was even able to use Wallet Installer to get Google Wallet onto my phone. However, tonight, my phone seemed to experience a case of Sudden Death Syndrome. A common issue found by googling why my phone's failure to respond to boot commands and power commands.
It will not respond to attempts to boot into ODIN mode, my TWRP recovery and the only sign of life on my phone is a solid red LCD that lights up only if I remove the battery and leave the device plugged into a wall charger. Once I try to reinsert the battery, however, the LCD goes away and the phone once again turns into a coffee coaster. It's taking a lot of strength not to throw it against the wall. (I picked the worst week to quit smoking.)
I don't believe I hardbricked the device because three hours ago at the time of this post, I went to sleep and the phone was working and I was able to send and receive messages. I believe that rooting my phone actually made it even more stable than normal. I just can't believe my phone could just suddenly die. Could it be another case of Sudden Death Syndrome? (Corrupted NAND?) I bought this phone in August and many cases of SDS for the GSIII seem to occur within 150-200 days of activation, which would put me in that window. If I answered my own questions, please feel free to tell me. I'm just trying to explore all options as an exasperated user dealing with what seems frustration after frustration and the one release I have from that stress just **** a brick.
I am covered by Asurion Insurance (and if the crack on my screen will not be enough I plan on running it over with my car for good measure to get my money's worth) but I really do not want to have to file an insurance claim unless it is absolutely necessary.
Phone died just last night 12/29/12. The battery was running down, then beeped once like a warning to charge it. Plugged into the charger and no light whatsoever! The battery icon would come on for a second and then nothing. Left it on the charger over night. Nothing. No red charging light, no boot. Pulled the battery and re-plugged into charger. Same charging icon on screen but nothing else. Tried every combination of removing battery, sim card, memory card, and plugging it in to the charger and still won't boot. Tried a different charger and also my laptop. Nothing. The S3 is a USA Verizon variant. 16gb. Black. I guess it's off to Verizon this morning to get a new phone. Phone is only 45 days old!!!
You could try leaving it on the charger for a couple hours then booting into recovery and reflashing your rom. I've seen a couple instances reported on xda where the battery simply just gave up below 23% and refused to turn back on.
Edit: example, not even a couple weeks old...

Update: Brought the S3 into Verizon. They pulled the battery (Like I did a few times!) and somehow got it working again!! FM ! Phone reboots and turns off and then back on. BUT..... if you turn it completely OFF and plug it in to charge then the same as I mentioned happens again. STRANGE. The only way to get it to reboot is to pull the battery and keep it out for about 30 seconds. Put the battery back in and it'll reboot again!!!! Is it me or is this a strange quirk???? The previous times I pulled the battery it was out then back in. This time I took it out, waited 30 seconds and VOILA! It works. Thought you might like an update. Verizon S3 bought on 11/17/12. Rooted and not oc/uc'd. Using Clean Rom 5.5.1

That's good news..thanks for the correction.
My S3 Frontier was a problem child when I first got it a year ago. It would never stay connected to my phone, and all I did was tinker with it and reset it over and over again for months. I was ready to Ebay it when the Tizen 3 update was pushed. Since that time, this watch has worked great, up until now. About a month ago I got new iPhone. I had a LG V10 Android phone and was a little concerned that the iPhone would mess up the watch. The Samsung app on IOS was a bit limited, but it still worked fine. About 2 days ago, the watch all of a sudden started eating up the battery. It went from 100% to 31% in about 3 hours Tuesday morn. I charged it over night, and yesterday it was fine. Today it was OK up until an hour or so ago. It went from 71% to 17% in just over an hour. I was not even using the watch. I have wifi on auto, the display always off, brightness on 6, heart rate monitor off, and no 3rd party apps installed. All I use the watch for is to keep me alerted when I get incoming texts, weather alerts, and it tells me to get up off my arse sometimes and move! I do not use it to make or answer calls, GPS and location is off. Up until now, when I would put the watch on the charger when I went to bed, the battery would be at 70-75%. I have about 20 or so watch faces all from the Samsung store and have uninstalled Facer and Watchmaker. I do not see how the watch faces could be causing this when the screen is off, but I do not know all the technical details on how this thing operates. The Samsung app on my phone does not show anything out of the ordinary running on the watch. Does anybody have any ideas before I rest this thing, or worse yet, chuck it and just go back to using my $10.00 Walmart watches!!?
Won't hurt to try another factory reset before you retire it.
Same thing for mine was great then all the sudden drains battery like crazy.
I just did ANOTHER reset from the watch, and also removed and reinstalled the Gear app on my phone. Afterwards, did not install anything on the watch. It is still draining way too fast. This morn at 6 it was at 100%, after not using it at all, it is at 82. It is still setup as in my original post. The only thing I can think of that may have caused this was a small update that got pushed on it a few weeks go. Either way, I am tired of fighting it! I may have to contact Samsung, but I think it is out of warranty. If this thing gets the Tizen 4 update, I will give it another shot.
I just thought of something. Is there a way to reinstall Tizen 3.0.0.2 again manually without hacking the watch or sending it back to Samsung? Maybe resetting it is not enough and it needs to to be wiped , then have the OS reinstalled.
I just started experiencing the rapid drain as well? Noticed it yesterday. Put the watch on at 7am and by 11am had the warning pop up that battery was at 15%
If you Google this, there are lot of folks having the same problem with this watch. I was just on a Samsung forum where several people were reporting this issue after the 3.0.0.2 update. The thing is, my watch ran great after the 3.0.02 update! Better than it did on version 2. My problem started after no updates. My best guess is another patch or the Tizen 4 update (assuming this watch will get it) may hopefully fix this. I am found no resolution so far.
I would say try a couple things. Turn Wi-Fi off completely. Mine gets hammered when I have it on in any way, and you COULD be seeing it poll like crazy in Auto. After testing that, I'd also try turning the BT off too (Just to test)
Mine started doing this two days ago and I made no changes (I always have Wifi off, heart rate once every ten minutes, AOD off, , no GPS, non-LTE watch). I usually get up to three days and now if I fully charge it by 9pm is't dead in less than 11 hours.
I have this problem as well, started yesterday. Looking through the apps, seems like s health is the one to blame! Before once charge was getting the phone still at 77% by the end of the day....
Same here, since a couple of days ago, Samsung Health draining the battery. Can´t be a coincidence.
I guess it is possible the battery is going bad, but rechargeable batteries normally do not start losing capacity at one year of age, and it is normally a gradual process. I tried turning off wifi, and that did not help. Between 6 this morn and now (8.00 am) it went from 100 to 88% and all it did was show a few text messages from my wife. To add to my misery, the Samsung app just updated on my iPhone and now the program crashes whenever I open it and to go the Gear apps and faces. I can try reinstalling it, but it will reset the watch AGAIN, and I will have to start all over. If I was Bruce Banner I would be turning into The Hulk right now!!
son of a b!tch... i was hoping that it was a fixable thing, seems like its a widespread issue. Im having the exact same problem. started 2 days ago. Factory reset the watch and didnt even install any apps on it, just configured the watchface to diable the AOD and bezel wake. Its been fine for about 10 months and boom... utter failure. guess ill start a claim with samsung
Yes mine has worked great for over a year then all of a sudden 2 days ago it started going from 100% to dead in 3 hours or less.
sooooooo, i submitted my claim info on samsungs site and no more than 30 min following, my gear started turning its watchface on while on the charger very randomly. Did it about 6 times. Stupid coincidence? poltergeist? or are they digging into the device?
