[Q] Droid Razr HD XT926: Motorola QC Diag port driver install - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't get my phone to appear in (Win8.1) Device Manager as a Moto QC Diag/COM port. I'm using the (Moto) v5.9.0 drivers. I've tried installing the drivers, not installing the drivers, and updating the drivers manually. I never see a Moto QC Diag port option. If I install the drivers automatically, I see Mot Composite ADB Interface, Motorola USB Networking driver, DROID RAZR HD (under Portable Devices). I'm booted into BP Tools, USB debugging is on, my SIM is out. What am I missing please? Thank you in advance.

Thanks. Ya, I tried the Motorola Device Manager 2.4.5 file. Swapping out to another driver package hasn't resolved the problem. I've also tried on a Win7 Pro machine directly hard wired to my modem. Same problem with it.

[SOLVED]
first, THANK YOU dragonhart6505 for your youtube vid how to install motorola qc diag driver for unlocking motorola droid razr m/hd (xt907/xt926). your words "hit vol up so phone boots properly" was what i was missing.
let me explain as i know i'm not the only poster with this problem, i just haven't seen a solution posted. till now. it has taken me weeks to find the answer.
i thought i was booting into bp tools mode. i did the three finger salute. i scrolled to bp tools. let phone boot and plugged it into usb port. no qc port (not even one that needed a driver). couldnt create a virtual serial/com port either using hw vsp. got a lan error. cdma workshop stated no answer from my phone. i could ping the ip though with no errors. all because i wasnt in bp tools mode as i thought! UGHHHHH!!!! after scrolling to bp tools, hit vol up (no dont scroll to factory reset). youll see when you do it. now i can manually install the qc driver.
the other thing i learned along the way was that with windows 7/8 (yes, and 8.1) the qc diag driver must be manually installed.

The 2.4.5 driver has motport.inf dated 2013-03-19. So anything newer than this will require manual installation. If one knows the PID for the device (in Device Manager / device / Details), one can edit motport.inf to simplify installation.

This is the officail Motorola QC Diag port driver .

[Q] windows 7 x64 adb not detecting device atrix 2 mb865

I have a motorola atrix 2 mb865. I have tried almost all the methods on xda and on google. Nothing seems to make my computer detect the device in adb.
I have tried all the three usb connecting modes with the usb debugging on. uninstalled and reinstatlled drivers from motorola.
I have also tried installing the adb driver as a legacy device under windows. nothing seems to work. the phone is always detected as a portable device.
How do i fix this?

Need more info, pc/mac and win7,8... If you need the drivers for windows use the ones in the first post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943851
Make sure to reboot after installing.
Also make sure usb debugging is turned on under developer options under settings on the phone.
Windows 7, and windows vista on our laptops, both do not work. Downloaded drivers and still no connection. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers on both systems and they failed.

USB debugging was set for both devices as well. Just odd that they won't even become recognized by the USB drivers. One drive allows it to at least charge but that's it so far.

Q: Downgrading from 4.4 CM11 to 4.1.2

I was interested if it is possible to downgrade from Kitkat with cyanogenmod installed on it to 4.1.2. I have Motorola Droid Razr HD and I just hate 4.4 (for some reason).

Sadly I cant really use RSD Lite, since it doesn't detect my phone for some reason (probably because it's not OEM). Is there any other way of doing it without rsd lite?
just to make sure, did you have phone in fastboot with debugging enabled while having it connected to a pc running newest version of rsd lite on a usb port not usb 3.0?

Yes, and everything is as it should be, except RSD Lite 6.1.6 (which is the latest version as far as I know) does not detect it. Bootloader unlocked, I have root access, everything is OK. But still it won't show up in the list.
Have you uninstalled all the drivers and everything? I'm going to assume you are Windows 7.
Also, ensure you are connected to a 2.0 usb port. You don't have 3.0 USB ports do you? If so, those don't work from what others have reported.
Also, have you tried several different cables? If you have the OEM cable that came with your phone, use that. If that doesn't work, the cable could be bad.
If it's not showing up when you connect with the phone booted up normally nor under fastboot mode, then that points to either a driver issue or a cable issue.
I had an issue where the driver was old, so I went into Device Manager and saw that it showed my phone (Motorola USB Phone) but it had an exclamation mark next to it which meant it had trouble with the drivers. I then uninstalled all the drivers and eventually, point it to the drivers in the Android SDK (Google USB drivers) and that fixed it.

I have all the drivers that were necessary to flash, set up recovery, install CM11, so I don't think it's a driver issue. I'm using Windows 8.
I do have 1 USB 3.0 port, but for this operation I use 2.0.
And the cable, I am using a different cable, I don't have OEM anymore, so that might be a problem here. Thanks, I'm going to buy the cable from Motorola I guess and will post results here.

That's the issue then. Windows 8, from what I've read, is very finicky with Android and ADB.
Go to this thread as it might help -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583801
otherwise, I would suggest either going to a Windows 7 machine or even a Unix machine. Worse comes to worse, you might be able to hook up a Virtual Machine (using either VMWare Player or Oracle's Virtual Box - both are free) and set up a Ubuntu Linux and try it that way since Linux doesn't need the SDK USB drivers. ADB and Fastboot will work right out of the box.
I actually have another PC set up with Ubuntu directly (not in a Virtual machine image) and it works just fine. I have a Windows 8 laptop, but that's my wife's so I don't hook up my phone to it. My other machine is a Windows 7 64-bit machine and it works just fine (and it has two Ubuntu virtual machines that work with my phone just as well).
So, now that I see you have a Windows 8 machine, it makes more sense.

Thanks for the link iBolski - I am in the unfortunate situation, that my laptop came with Win 8.1 and has just two USB 3.0 ports.
Hopefully some of the suggestions will get RSD to work, otherwise I may need to start my Linux learning adventure sooner than planned..

The only isssue is, if all you have are 3.0 USB ports, then you are hosed as far as I know. Some have reported getting it to work on USB 3.0, but I have no idea how they did it.
A goggle search might help lead to some answers though.

I will do some deeper research on google.. first pass didn't yield any viable information other than "it doesn't work"
Are you saying, that USB 3.0 may not even work under Linux?
I used to have the same problem... I solved by doing the following:
1- first go to window's device manager and check that windows is recognizing that there is a new hardware but it does not has the drivers for it
2- install morotola's drivers (if you haven't already)
3- look where the motorola's installer store the files in your machine
4- go to device manager, look for the unrecognized hardware, click properties and install the proper driver manually
sorry I can't give you more details cause I'm currently at work.

I believe so, though I'm not 100% positive. But, from what I've read, USB 3.0 is incompatible with Android phones in general.
I have a computer with Windows 8 and 2 USB 3.0 ports, everytime I try RSD with one of the two 3.0 ports it doesn't work. Fortunately I have a USB 2.0 and it always work. I always use RSD 6.1.4 because for some weird reason this is the only version that detects my xt925. So it might not be the comp or windows 8, but the cable or drivers, as stated before. The latest drivers are on Motorola's website and they're updated to work with Windows 8.

Device manager detects moto g as usb input device

I am on windows 7 and device manager detects moto g xt1032 as usb input device. I downloaded usbdeview and uninstalled every driver for every device ever on my laptop and plugged the moto g back in same result. Downloaded moto g usb drivers from xda and tried updating the drivers, it says windows has determined it already has the best drivers.
I couldn't find any other drivers and oddly the filename of the drivers package downloaded from xda says Moto_winxp_drivers.zip, but it seems to have a bunch of driver files.
Yesterday it was detecting the moto g as 'xt1032' in device manager and I messed around with drivers and it is now back to usb input device. I don't think there is a problem with the laptop, might be some sort of software issue, but not sure what.
I should mention that this moto g is not operable as it is stuck in a boot loop with the occassional android robot laying down and red exclamation point. So there is that but I am trying to sort this out and get it to show on adb and then install something on it.
I also installed motorola device manager, no help. Seems the problem might be usb drivers since the package I downloaded from xda is from 2013 and I couldn't find an updated package.. so if anyone knows feel free to post a link. thx
Drivers from 2013 should be fine, considering that the device is also from that year.
Can you boot into fastboot? Which bootloader is installed?
There is an unbrick post in this forum. You can try going through that, it includes installing unsigned drivers under windows.

Unable to Root Moto G Turbo 2015 Edition

Hello All,
I am trying to root Moto G Turbo 2015, however the same is not been recognized by the system.
Things that I have tried:
1. Tried Motorolla drivers as in shared in the thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/problem-moto-g-recognized-pc-t2793861
2. Tried with official Moto Device Manager
3. Tried to manually point Intel ADB USB drivers
4. Tried on both Windows 7 SP1 x64 and Ubuntu 18.04
5. Tried with multiple USB cables
None of the methods have worked out yet. Can you please give me a solution?
PS: The USB Debugging is already enabled.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
Have you tried KINGOROOT
Website: https://www.kingoapp.com/
If you still can't root try installing custom recovery ( I suggest TWRP)
However most of all you might need to unlock the bootloader of your phone in order to root.
Website For Bootloader Unlock : https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
Anyways since your computer is not recognizing the device try uninstalling and removing all the drivers using USBdeview
Website: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html
This software will remove installed drivers of any device which was previously connected.
Make sure you have a high quality USB cable , it might also affect the connection.
And also make sure that no dust or dirt is in your phone's micro USB port.
If non of them work there might be a problem with your phone's micro USB connection.
I heard that these phones cannot be fixed as they are sealed and removing the battery can cause problems to the phone. Or even worse the phone will simply die.
So make sure you do plenty of online research.
Regards

One time on my Win10 Laptop ADB wouldn't see my Moto phone. I think I had to dig into the Device Manager as per this fix,
