Need more info, pc/mac and win7,8... If you need the drivers for windows use the ones in the first post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943851
Make sure to reboot after installing.
Also make sure usb debugging is turned on under developer options under settings on the phone.
Windows 7, and windows vista on our laptops, both do not work. Downloaded drivers and still no connection. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers on both systems and they failed.

USB debugging was set for both devices as well. Just odd that they won't even become recognized by the USB drivers. One drive allows it to at least charge but that's it so far.

I wanted to root my friends ns4g but my of won't recognize it. He had a galaxy s 2 as well and it was the same issue.
I installed pdanet, Samsung drivers, different USB cords, nothing!
When I plug it in nothing happens, then about 5 mins later, USB not recognized. I manually tried to put the .inf file through the windows 7 wizard and still nothing.
Like I said my ns4g works perfectly fine, when I plug his in nothing works at all. I don't understand this at all. I have a 64bit system and made sure everything was for that. Can anyone help me out?

Can you mount usb in either recovery (if applicable) and android? Have you tried with usb debugging enabled? Also, does it show you no android device is connected in device manager?

in device manager it only shows unknown usb device with "!" symbol. Yes for debugging, and cant boot into recovery, there is no recovery as its not rooted.
help someone please! lol
There was something i read about the fast charge widget messing up the ability of the nexus to properly connect to the computer and a fix. Part of its design is to block USB file transfer when connected to a computer. There were several phones that couldn't connect after loading the widget.
Before i go and waste a bunch of time researching and digging for this. I would like to know if your friend has installed the fastcharge widget on his phone.

Its soo strange. I plug my phone all good, I plug his NS4G, no detection. It's strange.
Same thing happened when i was trying to root his tmobile gs2. No driver worked.
did you install tbe drivers by booting into bootloader while pluged in?

yeah, didnt work. Factory Reset the phone too.
Try a different USB port on PC and pull the battery for a min.

Try drivers from Samsung support page. It took me a bit. But usually the pdanet drivers work. You could try another pc that does not have the drivers for the nexus.

I've tried looking everywhere for help on the forums. I don't know why my PC won't recognize my S3. I've tried everything, I'm using the right cable, ive tried all my usb ports, I've downloaded the samsung drivers, reinstalled numerous times. My pc itself isn't showing the phone in the device manager nor is my phone recognizing that it is plugged into the pc except for showing a charge. Idk what else to try...any help is appreciated. Thanks

Are you referring on how to connect S3 to a PC so that you can Odin the phone?
If so, you have to install Android SDK on your PC first. Here's a link. Do a YouTube search as well....there are how-to videos that will walk you thru it.

What operating system are you using? Have you tried disabling any internet/virus/malware protection software temporarily? This may help alleviate your issue. If on Windows, do you hear an audible sound when you connect/disconnect your phone to the PC? Also, try different USB ports if you haven't already. Windows is a fickle beast sometimes
I have a motorola atrix 2 mb865. I have tried almost all the methods on xda and on google. Nothing seems to make my computer detect the device in adb.
I have tried all the three usb connecting modes with the usb debugging on. uninstalled and reinstatlled drivers from motorola.
I have also tried installing the adb driver as a legacy device under windows. nothing seems to work. the phone is always detected as a portable device.
How do i fix this?
Hi, I'm running windows 8.1
I've installed nexus root kit with appropriate drivers. I've rooted my nexus 5 which still runs 4.4.
But since a few days, I can't see it anymore using USB connection, neither as a multimedia neither as a photo device.
A bit disappointed with this since I need it !
I've tried to follow NRK steps without success.
Any idea or suggestions ?

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I'm having the exact same problem.
It's literally like earlier today I had my Nexus connected to my computer and it showed up as a drive as per usual. Then I disconnected it for whatever reason and a bit later when I tried to reconnect it, it no longer showed up at all. I've tried it on multiple computers, in both media and camera mode with usb debugging on and off. Basically I've tried the obvious stuff, but it just no longer shows up.
If you guys used ABD to sideload 4.4.1 or 4.4.2 then you will need to take off the drivers for that before your Nexus will be recognised as a standard media device in My Computer - it's because the ADB overwrites standard Google USB drivers
Had same issue yesterday
Turn off usb debugging. Mine only recognises it as a storage device with it off

Interestingly enough I had the problem with the PC not recognizing my phone.
When I turned USB debugging ON, *tada* it worked. I don't know the background why this even makes a difference.
However for me it worked.
Disabling debugger change just nothing, neither than disabling developer tools...
I used Wugfresh's Toolkit to get the drivers. Make sure you use the usbdeview tool to delete any other drivers on your computer associated with the device. Then I did the install of the PDAnet drivers through the toolkit. When installing the drivers, there is actually a prompt that comes up on your phone that you have to "ok" as well. After two hours, that is how I got the drivers to work on Windows 8.1.

I did this. But my phone now is only detected as a Camera and not a Media Device. Any idea why this is?
I can't get my phone to appear in (Win8.1) Device Manager as a Moto QC Diag/COM port. I'm using the (Moto) v5.9.0 drivers. I've tried installing the drivers, not installing the drivers, and updating the drivers manually. I never see a Moto QC Diag port option. If I install the drivers automatically, I see Mot Composite ADB Interface, Motorola USB Networking driver, DROID RAZR HD (under Portable Devices). I'm booted into BP Tools, USB debugging is on, my SIM is out. What am I missing please? Thank you in advance.

Thanks. Ya, I tried the Motorola Device Manager 2.4.5 file. Swapping out to another driver package hasn't resolved the problem. I've also tried on a Win7 Pro machine directly hard wired to my modem. Same problem with it.
[SOLVED]
first, THANK YOU dragonhart6505 for your youtube vid how to install motorola qc diag driver for unlocking motorola droid razr m/hd (xt907/xt926). your words "hit vol up so phone boots properly" was what i was missing.
let me explain as i know i'm not the only poster with this problem, i just haven't seen a solution posted. till now. it has taken me weeks to find the answer.
i thought i was booting into bp tools mode. i did the three finger salute. i scrolled to bp tools. let phone boot and plugged it into usb port. no qc port (not even one that needed a driver). couldnt create a virtual serial/com port either using hw vsp. got a lan error. cdma workshop stated no answer from my phone. i could ping the ip though with no errors. all because i wasnt in bp tools mode as i thought! UGHHHHH!!!! after scrolling to bp tools, hit vol up (no dont scroll to factory reset). youll see when you do it. now i can manually install the qc driver.
the other thing i learned along the way was that with windows 7/8 (yes, and 8.1) the qc diag driver must be manually installed.

The 2.4.5 driver has motport.inf dated 2013-03-19. So anything newer than this will require manual installation. If one knows the PID for the device (in Device Manager / device / Details), one can edit motport.inf to simplify installation.
This is the officail Motorola QC Diag port driver .
