Device manager detects moto g as usb input device - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am on windows 7 and device manager detects moto g xt1032 as usb input device. I downloaded usbdeview and uninstalled every driver for every device ever on my laptop and plugged the moto g back in same result. Downloaded moto g usb drivers from xda and tried updating the drivers, it says windows has determined it already has the best drivers.
I couldn't find any other drivers and oddly the filename of the drivers package downloaded from xda says Moto_winxp_drivers.zip, but it seems to have a bunch of driver files.
Yesterday it was detecting the moto g as 'xt1032' in device manager and I messed around with drivers and it is now back to usb input device. I don't think there is a problem with the laptop, might be some sort of software issue, but not sure what.
I should mention that this moto g is not operable as it is stuck in a boot loop with the occassional android robot laying down and red exclamation point. So there is that but I am trying to sort this out and get it to show on adb and then install something on it.
I also installed motorola device manager, no help. Seems the problem might be usb drivers since the package I downloaded from xda is from 2013 and I couldn't find an updated package.. so if anyone knows feel free to post a link. thx

Drivers from 2013 should be fine, considering that the device is also from that year.
Can you boot into fastboot? Which bootloader is installed?
There is an unbrick post in this forum. You can try going through that, it includes installing unsigned drivers under windows.

[Q] PC does not recognize XOOM after root

Hi all
there are a few threads like this but not quite matching my situation so I will ask here:
Moto Xoom MZ 601 recently upgraded OTA to 4.0.4
a few weeks ago rooted device, kept same OS
ever since then when connecting XOOM to PC I hear the little dink sound indicating a connection
but there is no indication that the drivers are being installed/updated
and the XOOM does not show up under my computer (which it used to)
however there is an MZ600 icon under devices and printers (which there was not before)
but of course cannot browse the Xoom contents from that Icon.
this occurs with USB debug on and also off.
it occurs after uninstall of the moto drivers from PC reboot reinstall moto v2.8.8 driver and reboot Xoom and reconnect.
interestingly when I boot the Xoom into recovery and connect to PC get the connection thunk, the PC now makes like it is
installing drivers but this fails midway thru.
so short of unroot, any ideas how to get the XOOM recognized by PC when connected with USB?
(I did install wi fi explorer pro so can see files on XOOM on PC via wifi, but would still like to be able to work connected with USB)
thanks in advance for advice!!

Usb drivers for your android phone

USB Drivers are let your PC communicate with your device.
If you are executing some ADB Commands, you will need USB Drivers installed which will let the ADB server on your PC communicate with the ADB client on your device. If there are no USB Drivers installed on your PC, you will not be able to perform activities on your device via the PC.
First of All I would recommend you to install Universal ADB Driver Installer. The Universal ADB Driver installer detects your phone and installs the ADB drivers for it.This tool developed by drsmart is your solution to the “device not found” error you might get on executing ADB commands.

Thanks for the info. I tried the univ adb driver installer but it showed I already had the right driver installed. Windows explorer can see my phone but other apps like HTC Sync or myphoneexplorer can't. This only happened after I rooted & installed a new rom. Maybe the rom is faulty...

No access to USB debug
I give up and need some professional help...Ya both kinds.
Here we go, I have the Galaxy 3 d2att I747
Rooted
I was running CM 10.2 with latest nightly, I think 20131208 and decided to update to CM11 via my Cyanogenmod updater but before I did I had read somewhere I should change from CWM recovery to TWRP so I downloaded Goomanager and updated to the TWRP version for my phone then went for the KitKat update and thats when the trouble began.
I am now stuck in a boot loop even if I try to boot into TWRP all I get is the TWRP boot logo then straight into boot loop again. I am almost positive I did a factory wipe as well as cache/dalvik.
Not being able to use TWRP to get into recovery I thought I would just use Odin but I can't get any of my laptops to recognize the phones USB, I just get the windows usb driver error and have tried to install the drivers manually via device manager using my samsung 7 chronos with windows 8.1 and my acer with windows 7. I updated drivers using Samsung Kies and from the website, no luck.
I also ventured into an area that I have no expertise in but I guess thats how we learn so I downloaded the Android SDK thinking I could use it to download and install the google USB drivers that way, but I can't get out of boot loop to make sure USB debugging is checked. The only thing I can access is the stock download mode which would be great if I could use the USB connection.
What am I missing? Any suggestions?
USB Not Recognized Error
I noticed that my phone suddenly stopped being recognized on both my Windows 7 and Win8 laptops. I have been trying to fix it with the drivers but to no avail. However, I plugged my phone in with a different USB cord and voila it was recognized and working. Maybe this could possibly be a simple fix.
My computer stopped recognizing my Skyrocket
Hi Everyone,
I also am having trouble with my win 7 computer recognizing my Skyrocket suddenly. I have been using several KitKat roms and they have been working just fine, except for some reported bugs that the CM devs are working on. I even was able to connect to the computer and explore both my internal and external drives. Then suddenly that stopped and the computer gave me a need to get drivers warning. I've tried to download drivers from Samsung and the computer says they are already installed. I also tried the universal driver download and got the same message. Any help would be appreciated. Like the others on this forum, I wouldn't be able to odin if I got in trouble.
Thanks for your concideration,
drewfs7270
I switched to a different rom and now it's working again !

Also, any mobile manufacturer website has guides or direct downloads for drivers. Otherwise uni drivers suffice.....

mtk preloader driver unable to install/unplugged appears
mt65xx unplugged when I try installing my device, I tried uninstalling all preloader vcom drivers in my laptop then restart and when I try to connect my device mtk mt65xx preloader just pops up in device manager then suddenly disappears and unknown device shows instead. I also tried manually update driver for unknown device then select the folder where my mtk driver is saved still unsuccessful? I've also searched and tried many other ways out there still no luck. Can anybody give me a solution? By the way i'm using windows 7 x64.

soft brick
I face bad experienced, the tablet can not boot ( after install TWRP ) but enable to enter the fastboot mode and can be detected by the computer as android adb interface but adb can't communicated with the tablet. (list of devices atached)
I do have a backup file ( I make it before soft brick, I make backup using dd command, because I don't have cwm/twrp recovery ).... but how to flash it ? Tablet chipset is wonder media 8980 OS android 4.2.2
I can not flash it by adb/fastboot.
Maybe someone here can give me a little guide for how to....
I really appreciate for your kindness
Hey, I made an expirience, which might help other users as well.
I have a Sony device (Z1C) and use Windows 10, maybe this will help for other brands and for other Windows 10 users.
I installed drivers for my device and was able to use adb. When I put the phone into fastboot mode, it was not recognized anymore. I found out, Sony has a seperate (updated, maybe?) driver for fastboot mode. When I tried to install this, the driver was not signed and Windows refused to install it. However, you can enter the UEFI (successor of BIOS) and enable installation of unsigned drivers (at own risk). Then I was able to install the fastboot driver and controll my phone in fastboot mode as well as in adb mode.
In conclusion: You might think you installed drivers, because you did, but maybe you did not.
Even on LineageOS page, many people fail to mention that, you DON'T and SHOULDN'T install any generic or universal ADB driver if you have Samsung device. As you can just install Samsung USB Drivers officially from Samsung site. Samsung USB Drivers already contain ABD interface driver just fine so Universal ADB driver is redundant for Samsung phones.

[Q] Droid Razr HD XT926: Motorola QC Diag port driver install

I can't get my phone to appear in (Win8.1) Device Manager as a Moto QC Diag/COM port. I'm using the (Moto) v5.9.0 drivers. I've tried installing the drivers, not installing the drivers, and updating the drivers manually. I never see a Moto QC Diag port option. If I install the drivers automatically, I see Mot Composite ADB Interface, Motorola USB Networking driver, DROID RAZR HD (under Portable Devices). I'm booted into BP Tools, USB debugging is on, my SIM is out. What am I missing please? Thank you in advance.

Thanks. Ya, I tried the Motorola Device Manager 2.4.5 file. Swapping out to another driver package hasn't resolved the problem. I've also tried on a Win7 Pro machine directly hard wired to my modem. Same problem with it.
[SOLVED]
first, THANK YOU dragonhart6505 for your youtube vid how to install motorola qc diag driver for unlocking motorola droid razr m/hd (xt907/xt926). your words "hit vol up so phone boots properly" was what i was missing.
let me explain as i know i'm not the only poster with this problem, i just haven't seen a solution posted. till now. it has taken me weeks to find the answer.
i thought i was booting into bp tools mode. i did the three finger salute. i scrolled to bp tools. let phone boot and plugged it into usb port. no qc port (not even one that needed a driver). couldnt create a virtual serial/com port either using hw vsp. got a lan error. cdma workshop stated no answer from my phone. i could ping the ip though with no errors. all because i wasnt in bp tools mode as i thought! UGHHHHH!!!! after scrolling to bp tools, hit vol up (no dont scroll to factory reset). youll see when you do it. now i can manually install the qc driver.
the other thing i learned along the way was that with windows 7/8 (yes, and 8.1) the qc diag driver must be manually installed.

The 2.4.5 driver has motport.inf dated 2013-03-19. So anything newer than this will require manual installation. If one knows the PID for the device (in Device Manager / device / Details), one can edit motport.inf to simplify installation.
This is the officail Motorola QC Diag port driver .

[Q] Moto G 4G unable to install MTP Driver

Hi guys,
After trying to sort this myself for several hours and failing, I figured I had better ask someone else. Basically I have installed Bliss Rom onto my Moto 4g which is working fine, however I am attempting to go fully back to stock.
When I enabled ADB driver on the phone, the drivers did not install at first so I ended up manually finding them and installing them but this process involved me uninstalling all my old drivers.
The ADB driver is now installed fine, as is the USB Device driver, however MTP driver just keeps coming up as 'Driver not installed'.
I have manually reinstalled Motorolas driver package, I have also tried to manually select a driver but the only driver listed (under update driver>browse my computer for the driver software>let me pick from a list) as MTP is installing and staying with the yellow icon and not working.
I tried restarting several times to try force windows to automatically look again for a new driver but its still not working. Can anyone suggest something I may have missed?
I am running Windows 7 x64 incase its relevant.
Using motorolas drivers and forcing a repair just comes up and says 'Driver not Found' in windows driver check.

[Resolved] Solution - windows 10 aristo fastboot not detected

Hello. If you're on Windows 10 like me, you're probably having an issue unlocking your bootloader because the device is undetected in fastboot mode.
I downloaded LG drivers, Google drivers, etc and nothing worked. I finally resolved the issue by
1. Uninstalling all Lg driver software I downloaded
2. Installing the LG PC SUITE software (*This should do it*)
3. Ran PC suite & hit "connect" - it told me my LG USB DRIVER was missing and offered to install it for me from within itself. I hit the button to install said driver.
I ran the installation twice and suddenly my laptop made a sound indicating my device was recognized. (I also watched my Device Manager refresh with the correct devices). Also, LG PC SUITE has adb built into it so the driver was certainly there.
After this, I ran fastboot devices and mine was good to go!
I hope this helps!
