Processor speed in Cyanogenmod. - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I have the latest Nightly of CyanogenMod and I note that the minimum processor frequency is 1190 mhz maximum equal. Now try to change it, but always returns to that frequency, it affects the processor? Or that the device is hotter? Thanks for answering

Use No Frills CPU Control to set the Min processor frequency correctly and tick the set on boot option to ensure that the setting doesn't change.

I use performance control and I put set on boot and doesn't work

[Q] SetCPU Help?

Would setcpu work in this case just to lower clock speed of the phone? I'd like to lower it when the screen is off.

yea, if you're rooted, setcpu works without any problems. I have my at 1000 mhz min & max but you can set it however you like

It works, but you have to re run it every boot up, because it gets confused (you'll see an error when you run it after a reboot)
Gotta wait for a real update to it to support the stock kernel correctly.
Setcpu
Anyone successfully using setcpu on the nexus s? Seeing any benefit in battery life?

Mine doesn't wake up when in conservative...

What governor are you using? Per directions of app, I try conservative but the phone never wakes up when using a sleep/conservative profile. Same thing happens with the superpower app with or without OnDemand force.

I have the same problem, I've tried a few different setups/governor settings and I still get the same issue. I have to pull the battery to get the phone to turn back on. Also I think the phone actually shuts off, according to an app called System Panel after I rooted and set up setcpu the phone shutoff shortly after I went to bed for the night.
same problem. I set min 100 max 400 for screen off profile, never wakes up.
On the epic, 100mhz is too low for the phone to wake up so 200 is the min
Snce the ns uses a humingbird, that might be the problem too
Try conservative on 200min 1000max and see if it'll wake up

OS Monitor puts the cpu at 100,000khz - 1,000,000khz and shows it changing so yes stock will do it too. However, what they want to do is make sure that, at certain times, the cpu can't reach its full speed and that stock will not do
there is a new version of set cpu 2.10
did anyone try it?
on 2.04 it was still acting crazy
I was having the same issues with the phone never waking up -even with the most updated version of setCPU- and having to pull the battery to get it back on so I uninstalled. However, I flashed the Team Whiskey ROM with the 1.3Ghz kernel and it has been rock solid since. I've overclocked the processor to 1.3Ghz while awake and using on demand governor with 200mhz min/400mhz max when sleeping. No problems so far.
SetCPU 2.10 works properly on Nexus S
just confirmed, it doesn't show weird numbers anymore

2nd core

Is there an app for turning on and off the second core besides the terminal?

I use system tuner and force my 2nd core on at startup.

Why would u want to turn it on and off manually? Something called mpdecision had been pre-baked into every rom (stock or not) since the phone was released. It controls whether or not the second cpu is active depending on load. As long as u are using a performance oriented governor setting, when u start a game it'll automatically switch it on.

Use Tasker for Cpu control

Hi in was thinking about create some profiles for Cpu control on Tasker for example :
Whatsapp Cpu max 800 min 200
Facebook Cpu max 850 Min 200
I have to think more about whichj app change the Cpu..
Is a good idea? For save some battery

Go ahead..:thumbup::thumbup:
A 50mhz difference isn't gonna save a 1% of battery lol just let the phone scale to your needs

I have playing all this day with the Cpu speed and ja ja I have to experiment more with which speed is correct for each app for now my phone is slow as hell when unlock the screen for at least 6 seconds I think is Joice defender Cpu on idle is 300 I will rise to 500 and test

I'd say listen to bbrad. Your phone can handle it.

Off course, because the cpu load varies constantly because of the user and/or system demand.

Always 3 active cores?

Hello, on my Note 2 running official CM 10.1, there are always only 3 cores that are active and one is always offline no matter what governor I used. So how can I make all the cores active or this is the characteristic of the kernel? Thanks.

Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Your device doesn't necessarily need all four cores to run, the more cores that runs that means it'll need more power, hence the battery drain.
The phone sometimes only uses two cores or even one, depending on the task you're running or what tasks are you multitasking with.
It all really depends. I'm not a super tech guy, but I don't see it impossible to enable all four cores, but it just seems quite pointless.
