Someone is offering me a g2 +$75 for my note 3 - T-Mobile LG G2

Hey everyone. As stated above I have a note 3 and someone I know is offering me a lg g2 plus $75 in cash to trade. I could use the money but I'm not desperate. I love rooting, and flashing custom roms. I was looking at the dev thread and I see some good roms like cm 11, some kang rom, gummy, and I think I saw pac too. What worries me tho is that the last posts in some of those threads are a month or more old. Is development slowing down for this device? Overall, are you all happy with your g2? Any advice for me?
I'd really appreciate it.

EDIT: sorry, one more thing: when I look at original dev thread, there's NOTHING in there. What gives?

Most roms are not device specific. If you look in the generic g2 section you'll find a lot more.

To whom it may concern:

Why is there not a separate section for Nexus S 4G? Having to sift through all these threads is ridiculous. Come on Admins/Mods, lets get on the ball here.
I think we need a cdma nexus section. At least to separate roms and kernels :/

Roms yes, kernels... not so much ;D

It would definitely help from a users perspective, bricks are highly likely if users make a mistake.
Separate sections for CDMA and GSM versions of the same phone have been done in the past, the same should happen here.

I thought about this too.
I originally was against separating them, but I'm seriously going to carve my own eyeballs out if I see one more thread about Google Voice.

Please do it I agree because its really really confusing and one can be mistaken easily

The different versions of the same phone thing could use some rethinking anyway. Lots of forums at the top level just clutter everything up, split communities and break dev synergies.
You know what would be nice? A required selection for each thread, indicating which variant(s) it applies to and a corresponding filter for the forum view.
i agree we need separate sections but what id love to see is the addition of more roms such as miui and sense for the nexus 4g. stock is good but it would be nice to have more options.

How would separate sections change that? Separate sections would allow you to find compatible radios and roms easier and with less risk of bricking your expensive new phone.
i have to say this is probably the most disheartening thread on the forum. its sad to see that the nexus s owners were at first irritated that that sprint owners wanted a seperate forum, now i see many of those people in here, not saying it outright but wishing we were off here instead of clogging up crap. i dont blame them one bit, its just kinda sad..
I was confused at first but it is really as easy as following this simple rule.
"If the Rom or kernel doesn't mention NS4G in the thread title or first post, don't touch it."

I think u know what he meant.
But aside from that, (for ex.) I go thru the q&a section every couple days and see if I can help out with issues. This process is also confusing now with 2 phones in 1 topic. I find myself looking for other forums now with ns4g activity. I don't get what the big deal is.

Who actually is it that has the power to create (and creates) sections or topics?
Uncle Jimmy says hello
As a NS4G owner and a long time modder of phones....if you dont know the difference between cdma and gsm...and radios, roms, etc....then honestly gtfo take your **** back to the store and buy a jitterbug.
Simple
With that I like to thank vandamm for is valiant effort to make a ref for cdma phones...

The process for creating ROMs on the userland side is pretty generic to Android, you may want to do some generic Android research.
Personally I'm fine with the level of ROM development. Quality, not quantity.
I am perfectly fine with the roms we have as well but i would also like to strech my horizions and be able to contribute. "Having roms that we are fine with doesnt meam there should be less development" with that said i would like to return to my first post and get.sone.help in learning

As I said, do some searching. MikeyMike01 has a pretty good tutorial located somewhere else on XDA - captivate forums maybe? Or generic Android possibly, I don't remember.
Thank you for the reply i will look into that.
P.s. This is the kinda response people need to hear

New AT&T E980 forum

We in the Optimus G section wait to new AT&T Optimus G Pro E980 forum to be opened. See this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2273275 plz pay your attention.
And one minor advice, make a one big section named AT&T G Pro with minor subsections for other alternatives like F240, soon to be released E985 and coming new F220K. It's bad and deluding to have this http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1921 and then this http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1928 and then on the top of it this http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1838 It deludes ppl and make it difficult to share opinions, answer common questions and look for ROMs

If this were a petition, you'd have my signature. This will be a fairly popular phone.
People who will not buy it: teenage women, older parents whose kids told them to get the" Galaxy phone."
People who will: anyone who can understand that companies do learn from mistakes, people who can look at specs and realize that there is no competition in this price point.

New forum for AT&T LG Optimus G Pro (LG E980)
We really need a separate forum for this device so that owners can discuss it in one place as opposed to under the normal Optimus G forums.
It's a fantastic device and deserves at least a little bit of love. :good:

I agree that there should be a dedicated LG Optimus G Pro forum. The LG AT&T Optimus G forum is starting to become cluttered with mixed threads which make it difficult to keep the device discussion on topic.

How is it that other phones get a dedication section before the phones are even released yet this one is coming up on a week of being out and nothing? Not even a mention of it on the front page.
Why you no like LG or AT&T?! Lol.

I think they don't make forum it intentionally so to not make a competition for GS4
I'm at a loss here as to why we are having to beg just to get a forum for this device. Only thing I can think of is maybe the forum admins don't think there will be enough demand for the service and therefore a waste of time trying to moderate a thread for it? (Just guessing here..)
Please don't punish us because LG & AT&T didn't market this device properly. We already have root on it and I suspect that some of the devs who worked on the OG would at the least be able to port over some goodies for us. (Yes- the root method for the OG works for the OG Pro and it is the simplest root I have ever seen!)

You just dont understand. Its the "Pro" version of an existing phone. And its not hate. Instead of making a thread dissing what is available, you should ask a mod to do what you need, and dont forget mods have lifes. Its about attitude. Any way at&t sucks, lol

No, it is not. You sound like saying "Galaxy Note 2 is just Pro version of an existing phone Galaxy S3" right? Wrong. E980 is totally different phone than E970, everything is different, SoC is different, display is too, design, camera, radio, wifi & BT diffierent, IR blaster
Ffs keep it on topic. The Optimus G pro guys are cluttering Optimus G fora, so please make them their own section.

Best ROM right now...

I've had a couple ROMS on my phone but I'm possibly looking to switch again. Ive been on Axism for a while now. I like it but have had some gps issues.
Is there a good daily driver out there right now? Opinions?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
honestly it depends what you like. For TW I cant tell you. I've used hyperdrive which i find pretty stable and a great daily driver. I don't use TW much. CM, I like Rootbox and Paranoidandroid, great features pretty solid too.
There is no best rom.. Just find something that works good for you.

These types of threads get closed down. There isn't any best rom there never had been and never will be. Lastly I don't think the Q and A section was meant for people who can't make up their minds about what rom to choose. I know I sound like a douche but this isn't a support site per se.
I'm not looking for support. I'm looking for opinions based upon experience.
If I was asking for a guide or instructions (which many people do), that would be support.
I'm asking what opinions are on the best and most stable daily driver based on experience.
So many elitist forum police on XDA. It's ridiculous one can't even ask for opinions in the Q and A forum without someone scolding them.

Liquidsmooth v2.9 (AOSP ROM) is what I will highly recommend.
Flash BMS 3.4 kernel for even better battery life and you're set.

I completely agree, it's impossible to tell you what's a good daily driver. They are all good in their own way, and this same question gets asked almost every single day.
This isn't even scolding, you can ask away but when you can get the same answer a couple pages back it gets extremely tiresome seeing the same threads pop up.
For anyone reading this thread who wants advice on a good daily driver, look at all the threads, find the features you like, try it out on your phone and see if it plays nice on your hardware.
Additionally, here's a thread already made that has everyone's experiences on their rom of choice: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2030478

I'm a big fan of MOAR rom. I've tried CM, Bonestock, PA, and Liquid Smooth. MOAR has all the features I look for, leaves out crap I don't use (not a fan of PIE and Halo), is stable and has good battery life. The themes are really nice too- love Soylent Green.

well its pretty annoying to give the same answers to people who are unwilling to put in minimal amounts of work to find the answer or who expect be spoonfed some opinions on roms.
these threads get closed literally every single week.
there are no best roms out there. thats an opinion and very subjective. everyones phone runs different, everyone uses different apps and features in their roms.
if you dont like the correct asnwers to your questions then dont ask questions that dont really have answers.
nobody was rude to you, they gave you the best possible advice. read, test, try, decide what you need/want. ive run more than 15 different roms and theyve all been DD worthy.
No such thing as a Best ROM

Need your opinion based off experience

Situation is as follows -- Broke my gnex yesterday, called asurion, they were out of 32g gnex so they are sending me a white verizon 32gb s3. Cool. I start medical school in a few days and won't have time to play with tons of roms, but I can't stand samsungs skin.
In your experience, what is the best "one and done" ROM? I've been running cyanogen on my gnex should I just do same or what?
Thanks for helping me as I don't have time to research properly myself

Maybe a mod can move it for me. My apologies.
only you can decide whats best for you.
if you want a one and done without the samsung look but with the stability, function and stock options check beans rom. its got a great AOSP theme that will be famliar to you.
any of the AOSP roms are pretty stable also. id recommend slimbean personally.
but again, everyone is different. so read, and try some out.
Sorry, no moving, but thread is closed as the above post says it all.
No best rom as that is very subjective.
