I want to switch back to S-ON for warranty purposes. I have dust under screen so I have to send it to HTC. I've tried a RUU, but it stopped at sending and didn't flash anything.
Could you help me with some ideas ?
P.S: I S-OFFed it with AlphaRev.

I don't believe that this is possible currently although I believe that they're working on a method to enable you to do this

I suggest you read the incredible s alpharevx forum threads and also post there as he monitors more closely than here

checked my DS under direct sunlight and saw 2 dust inside the screen
So this is what my friend is talking about, that HTC phones are prone to have dust inside the screen.
Is this covered by the 1 year warranty? are they gonna replace the phone or they will open it and remove the dust under the screen?
currently it is not possible to s-on again after s-off using alpharevX as the hboot is protected
a friend of mine once sent a rooted device for warrenty & they didnt notice it maybe you can try that if you like
Guys from AlphaRevX are working on it, but there's no ETA.
What about extracting the HTC RUU, open the rom.zip and remove the HBOOT and RECOVERY images and then flash the system & kernel ???
( never mind i posted in the wrong thread and it has nothing to do with S-ON )
i need to know if anyone in the los angeles area that can put the s-on feature on my phone my friend did a root and i unrooted it and put back the stock rom but i dont know how to turn s-on in order to get updates on my phone again please helpppppp
You better tell us how he got s-off. I cant imagine he is actually.

Did you or your friend achieve full S-OFF? If so, how? It's kind of a big deal. I personally don't think you mean Security off to security on on the bootloader; maybe you mean stock recovery?

I think he meant "unlocked" bootloader, not S-OFF.
The only thing he wanted was to reclock it.
Thread should be closed as he did what he whanted to do by himself.
He's clearly stated it though twice that it was s off and now s on u can't get mixed up lol either were getting trolled or he doesn't know the benefits of s off lool

If you don't exactly know what you do, that's not so hard to mix up...
The worst thing is that WE keep on discussing about something we all know as a mistake.

Some phones (very few) are shipped s off. If it is so, then just keep it that way and update through xda. We get all the new stuff anyway

If he really had s-off it wouldn't matter cause he wouldn't need to relock the bootloader he could flash ANYTHING he wanted. oh well thread topic looked cool for a second. Anyways...

Just think it's a noob looking for attention. If he did want S-ON, he would've replied. I think he pretty damn well knows what S-OFF is, just wanted some attention for a few days.
He did replied to the first responce to his question and then the semi flames started for him not knowing any better. Noob for sure. He will know the difference now or and hopefully search before posting next time. Hopefully by then he knows the true status of his phone that's just something we have to deal with during this stage of a new phone. Once development picks up and there are more threads and more people posting useful information for the noobs to learn from it will make things a lot better.

Hey everyone im just sold my one s and bought one x but one x is not good as one s im truely sure about that worse battery life worse user interface performance maybe just screen is better i really missing my one s anyway my question is WHY one s's development thread is so weak (?) one s deserve better.
Yay, So it's true, the one s is better!!
And about the dev.. we have less because everyone thinks that the ONE X is better :\

Development will thrive when S-OFF starts, I know I might try making a ROM if we get S-OFF, only reason I'm not doing it now is because I don't want to render my warranty void.

Has HTC gave S-off to any of their other devices? I really don't think it will happen.
Don't want to jump in too much. But I had to at least say something. I'm curious what you mean when you say s=off will increase development... We will get more accomplished or attract more developers? Either way we said that for... Many, many months with the amaze... When we finally got s =off its been several months since and there has been no increase in development. Only one example but it was enough for me to think that's not the answer that we need
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
HTC definitely won't give S-OFF. We will probably get it eventually, though. Getting it will not directly make more ROMs, but it will certainly make more people root their devices, which probably will lead to more ROMs.

Not trying to discourage you from building roms but that's just a lame excuse for not doing so now. Do you really think HTC warranty terms will change when we get s-off? Again, lame!

Oh ok thats relocked vs locked. I never had any problems though returning my one s with relocked bootloader but I had to return to T-Mobile and not HTC. Not sure if HTC is strict and checks everything.
I have a one s running viper 1.2 and its amazing on the one s great battery life and performance. This weekend I unlocked and installed the one x viper rom on my big brothers one x and my one s feels way speedier. The one x feels uncomfortable in my hands and looks bulky while the one s is sexy and packed with power. Just wish there was a bit more development for the one s.

I heard via Twitter that someone won a s off One S at androidbbq.
His Twitter acc is @just_reboot
Maybe some devs could contact him and help him extract the bootloader? Is there a posibility for us to use it then?

No, even though he might have the S-OFF One S, you don't. The permissions are still the same and you won't be able to edit anything on YOUR device. You guys still need to find a method, nothing has changed.

The microphone is broken on my phone and I got to send it in for repair. I was wondering whether there is anything more that I have to do besides a RUU to return the phone back to a completely stock state before I send it in? Im s-off running viper xl with a custom boot splash and radio and super cid.

Hey bro. Are u sending it to htc for repair? Or verizon? I would assume htc, since it is a "repair". If so, then u really dont need to return it to stock. They dont care unless its something software related, but since its hardware, u should b good. After u run the ruu, u should b stock anyways, no?

You would think incorrectly. HTC reserves to right, and has, voided warranties for flashing custom ROMs.
Its been discussed on the "international" One X forum, that some folks have had warranty claims denied due to having ever flashed a custom ROM, despite returning to stock. Apparently, they still have some way to tell, even if you RUU to stock. Although they will honor the warranty if the bootloader is unlocked, but a custom ROM never installed. Inconsistent and a bit strange.
But HTC warranty service probably varies a bit by region. So its at least worth a try.

Well, from my experiance, ive had all hardware problems. I sent a device s-off but with a stock rom. Had no problems. Probably a good general rule though, to return to stock.

Why take chances? Flash back to stock and s-on. Why give the over-worked, under-paid factory repair tech a reason to deny warranty repair on your borked phone?

Good to know, thanks.
Most folks on here in the US seem to send their phones to AT&T (which seem to be pretty lenient). So its good to hear a report regarding HTC US.
Everywhere else I've read, HTC can be pretty brutal.

Ya bro, ive had all positive experiances with HTC. Im on my third replacement DNA from them. All free replacements. One cracked screen, one bricked, wouldnt take a charge, or boot, and this 3rd, which im waiting on right now as a matter of fact. fed ex should b here any moment. It had a blue blotch, or "smudge, within the screen. But all of them i had absolutely no problems getting them warranted out.
If they get a phone which is s-off, for all they know, they sent out a dev phone on accident. Ive seen it numerous times.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Flashing a custom rom can cause some hardware issues, so I can understand why HTC wouldn't warrant it.
If I was returning to HTC, I would change the CID back and RUU but leave bootloader unlocked and S-OFF, this way, if they decide to update the software to the latest, you can still flash and whatnot.
I thought you had to relock to run the ruu?

If you're S-OFF you don't need to relock to run an RUU and since S-OFF doesn't actually give full access on the oneXL without an unlocked bootloader, best to just leave them both.

Hey y'all
So I have a bricked Htc One Xl (AT&T) and I was wondering if there is a solution to fix it. I don't have money because I'm a student and I do not have a job ( looking for one at the moment) > I was wondring if there is a solution to fix it and get it better. I don't even use it on cellular because i cancelled all that. Now I am looking for a free and good method but if it's not possible to fix it. I'll probably sell it for parts because the screen is flawless new because it had a screen protector and its in good condition. Any helpers please?

I was actually S-on with SuperCID and rooted . But i changed roms and once I flashed a stock rooted jb rom it stayed at bootloader no matter what but i did flash boot.img seperately as i had hboot 1.14.xxx . So went to recovery and saw that sd card was un mount. I thought i screwed up so panicking my dumbass restored with a ruu at the newest update which is 3.18
You can try this

It may work for you but if not it will need jtag. If you are still interested in selling it after, pm me and I will purchase the phone for rom development purposes and jtag it.
