Incase book jacket (iPad) - Fits like a glove

I had one of these for my iPad so I tried it on my TouchPad and was surprised at how well it fit!
Power and volume buttons, headphone jack, speakers, charge port, and the camera are spot on! It also has the elastic strap to keep the case closed, a feature missing on many other book cases including the HP one
Did some searching and found an awesome $9.99 price, with fast $.99 shipping.
Order took about 1 week to show up at my house in full retail package.

I assume this case doesn't allow for the touchpad to lay in "typing mode" with a small angle, or even stand up at all for that matter?

I will try to throw up some pictures tonight for you
You are correct that the typing mode angle is very low, but it does stand up just fine.
Nice.
Can you post a video on youtube of it? Or photos. How do you like it so far?
Pictures? Let us know!
The TouchPad fits really well in this case. It's made of leather on the outside and felt-like material on the inside..I think. It is a pretty snug fit, and the cutouts seem fine (at least to me anyway). I don't think anything significant is covered....the only thing that is inaccessible with this case is the microSD slot...I think all the speakers are exposed. I really like how the front flap is secured by the elastic band. Also, the stand seems pretty stable to me.
I also believe they sell a white and blue version of this case. It's like $10 on eBay as well....so it's cheap
I wish it was thinner, but I'm happy with this case. I have attached a bunch of pictures. Hope this helps!!!

Galaxy tab 8.9 Book Cover - Ivory

Today I get Galaxy Tab 8.9 Book Cover. Very nice and solid material (high quality plastic). Looks good and expensive. Little heavy... In it tab is stable and does not fall out.
More pictures....
...I don't see volume button cut-outs.
Dont have..... Must be open to get volume controls.
I have the same case, it's really good quality (but rather expensive too). Mine does have the volume buttons cut-out though, odd.
I also have the same case (dark version) and I don't have cut outs for volume OR power
Whoops I was mistaken, I don't have access to the volume rocker when the case is closed. Never had to use them that way anyway so it's not an issue to me.
I was going to start a thread reviewing this case but someone beat me to it! The photos do a good job, so I won't post my own unless someone wants them. I'll give a review of it though in this thread.
The quality of this case is top notch. The back of the case, where the galaxy tab 8.9 clips in is a thicker type plastic which offers rigid protection. The flap which covers the screen is a thinner material which I can't place. An extension of the front cover creates a flap, that when closed, uses a magnet to snap in place. The clips which the tablet snaps into come right around the edge to be flush with the plane of the screen. There is a cut out for the power button and headphones, but none for the volume rocker. The left and right edges of the tablet in landscape mode are slightly exposed. The case doesn't add a lot of bulk or weight, offering the minimum material necessary for protection. Maybe not noticed in the photos are two features which help this case out. One is the rubber grips on the bottom to help the case stand the tablet up. The other is a thin strip cutout on the back which allows the end of the flap to support the tablet at about 15 degrees, which makes for the perfect angle for viewing and typing while laying on a desk.
The only problem I can find with the tablet is that when the case is open, the rear facing camera is blocked by the flap. I noticed this complaint in a few reviews on the GT10.1 case and the solution is to rotate the tablet 180 degrees where the cover is dangling down and the camera is at the bottom of the tablet. Problem solved.
My overall impression of the tablet is great. I'm very happy with the case. It's a little pricey, but sometimes you have to pay for quality. The ivory color is sharp; a good change from the sea of black cases out there. All in all I would buy it again. In fact I might be doing just that if my wife wants to trade in her 10.1 GT for the 8.9 because she's jealous of my tablet AND case.
EDIT: To add some high quality photos, since I had them.
Just received my case (in black) and loving. I am trying to work out a way to toggle the screen on and off when the case is opened, perhaps using Tasker and the light sensor. However, the Power On option isn't available in Tasker. Anyone have an idea how to make this work?

Is it the official samsung case ? it looks like the official one on the 10.1.
If so, can you give me its reference number
Official samsung case, yes
EFC-1C9NIECSTD for white version
That looks really nice. It would be perfect for my wife, if she gets an 8.9 Tab.
I have the black version and love it to death. I thought the price was too high before buying it.
I was hoping for somewhere around the $50 range. But, oh well, it was very well thought out and the quality is excellent.
At the end of the day I'm super happy with it and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Nice looking case!
I can't really tell from the pictures, but I'm pretty sure there is no access to the dock connector when the tablet is in a stand position, right?
So having a USB flash drive connected for the purpose of watching movies is out of the question, right?
Edit: nevermind.. dumb question I think I'm gonna go with the keyboard dock or something..
just got mine in black. I rock all my cell phones "naked" so I dont have much experience in casing, but I couldnt be happier. quality stuff.
Nice, but when you close cover, you can hear music because it cover two speaker too

Designing the ultimate case...

Hi everyone,
Post #1!
Some background info about me... I own a company that produces various software and hardware products for the diving industry (dive data trackers, underwater photography optics, marine life ID guides, etc.). As a result, over the years, we have acquired CNC machines and high-resolution 3D printing machines capable of making just about anything we can think of.
Recently, I picked up a Skyrocket (coming from an iPhone... wow, what a difference!), and an Otterbox Defender case for it. The case is robust, but is "just" a case... nothing more. So, over the past week, I drew up some 3D designs for my own case (similar to the Otterbox Defender), and produced it. The case consists of a 2-piece hard shell, screen protector, and a tough/grippy polyurethane rubber sleeve that protects the phone within the hard shell. The rubber sleeve that I made (via custom mold) is black, but I can make them any colour of the rainbow.
The dimensions and general vibe are basically the same as the Otterbox, so I thought to myself "where's the fun in this"? Duplicating designs is simple, but I want to take it to the next level. Here are some of the features that I am toying with:
-The capability to accept a 3800-3900mah extended battery, while still offering the protection of an Otterbox Defender (just ordered a few of these batteries, and will make a design immediately for them, since I'm pretty sure no one else has one on the market)
-A kickstand
-A slot for a credit card, bus pass, work ID, drivers license, or whatever
-A bottle opener
-A slide-out standard USB stick
-A magnifier which swivels over the camera to give better macro photography capability
OK, so some of these features might be a little useless, but I'm trying to come up with the ultimate case.
Attached are renders of the current design (the hard shell only, excluding the polyurethane rubber outer sleeve).
What would make a case ideal for you? Suggestions?
Thanks!

Wow! A slot for credit cards and ID is such a great idea! Perhaps taking measures to make sure that it's sand-proofed too. Then it would make a great case for taking to the beach or whatever. You have the potential to make alot of money off of this...hahaha.
Make a horizontal belt one that will fit the skyrocket with a siedo active case on it and you will have the market cornered. Even the ones that are out there now and claim to be the right size are not! A silk-like material lining the inside for better protection and extraction would help. Put a strong fastener on it (so it won't open until you want it to) and a finger hole in the botom (again to help with extraction) and it will be good.

Produce these and I'm SURE your case will make some bank. Possibly even make different versions to target different groups too? Like, maybe not EVERYONE wants the bottle opener, or maybe not the magnifying glass. Idk. Just thinking some marketing.
Nice.
But I think you should keep it simple. A bulky case isn't necessarily a good case.
I like the idea of a kickstand and a USB stick, though. You know what would be cool? Make the case attach to the usb port and link the usb stick to the phone.
I would like something that you snap onto the a gps suction cup mount that had a flat piece that would just slide into the back of this phone. All you would have to do is slide it on. As long as the grip on the mount was firm enough you could move turn it on its side.
Case and car mount would be a big plus for me. I dont want to buy a cheap car mount or a car dock that I have to take my case off just to it.

i agree...something thin but sturdy, a kickstand is great. A magnifying glass would be awesome, for the usb, totally useless since the phone is already a thumbdrive. i would love a case that doesnt make my phone 2x thicker but still gives my drop protection. but the best feature would be a matching dock that would allow me to be connected to my power source and habe an extra jack to have a connection to my laptop...a little like the evo docks for gs2 i9100

I agree that bulky cases are not the most popular, but the problem is that the small one-piece injection molded cases cost pennies to make when produced in the quantities that they are. so they can be sold for just a few dollars.
The manufacturing process that I'm using not meant for MASS production (my machines can produce around 5-10 cases this size per day), but is capable of producing things that is impossible by injection molding. I feel like the "skimpy" case market has already been saturated.

Don't you need a micro-usb/standard usb cable in order to use the phone as a thumbdrive? The idea would be that if you're away from home, you'll always have a universal usb stick with you to toss data onto. Then when you get home and have your cable handy, you can transfer the info to the phone/PC.
As for the dock with a splitter - have you seen the MHL adapters that are available? This cable does basically exactly what you're asking already - it is a micro-usb to HDMI cable, which has a second micro usb slot for connecting the phone's power source. Or am I missing your point? Here's a link to what I'm talking about:

[I can't post links yet since I'm a new user... hopefully you can figure out the link above. Or just do a search for "MHL Adapter Samsung" and you should find several of them available]

Aside from being a mechanical engineer, I'm actually an underwater photographer/videographer, so trust me, I'd LOVE to do this (and might just make one for myself...). But waterproofing a case would add a fair amount of bulk, and would require o-rings... not to mention that the plastic that I'm using is partially porous, so would let water diffuse through it eventually anyway. Thanks for the suggestion though!
This is all good stuff folks - keep the ideas coming!
Keri
Are you just planning on designing one case or do you plan to offer options.
The Lifecase for the iphone is a waterproof case. It's very thin and ads little to no extra bulk. It's actually thinner than most of the snap together hard cases on the market. It added about the thickness of a nickle to the overall bulk of the phone. Sitting next to an iphone in an otterbox, the waterproof case looked like an actual phone while the otterbox looked like a small black rubber brick.
This case would surely be the ultimate, I must admit!
I know that some people like those kind of cases, but I don't, I like the feel of the phone. I can't stand bulk, I wish more bumper-type cases were made.
I know this has really nothing to do with this phone but would you be willing to make cases for other phones. I'd be really interested if you'd be able to make one for my dhd .

hey, def exactly looking for what you are making!
however the question for you is this:
what kind of cnc/manufacturing process would you use. The reason i ask is because a great sturdy case with the features you want would need to use different types of material (hard plastic and rubber mainly) fused together. as far as i am aware common cnc machines can only carve out of a single piece/material and then perhaps you can manually put it together...
this manufacturing works great if you want a case entirely made out of hard plastic but i tend to argue that a good protective and grippy case needs a combination of several soft and hard materials.
for example:
the inside would preferable be a hard rubber for shock absorption and grip to the unit itself. Same materials could be used for the edges.
The credit card holder would need ideally one side grippy the other sidy hard/smooth plastic so you can easily slide out the cards but they dont fall out by themselves (my speck iphone 4 case is an excellent example!
i have tried skinnier credit card cases for my iphone 4 but after prolonged use the clip that is supposed to keep the cards in looses its "push" and the cards will start to fall out. (this could be easily fixed by using better polycarbonate materials but would probably quadruple the price.
One of the biggest problems i face personally is the fact that when using a good skin there are no compatible docks yet.
i had the following combo on my iphone 4 and absolutely loved it with the only downside that i had to dremel out some of the case's bottom side to make it fit my car mout and iphone alarm clock.
Speck Products CandyShell Card Case
Magellan Premium Car Kit
Personally i would be willing to pay north of the $100 mark for a good combo like this and i am sure there many people wanting the same thing. given that this is a fairly new product there is still money to be made. my cad/catia experience is limited but maybe ill draw something up and see if you can manufacture it as a prototype.

Cad file for case
Hello OP! I was wondering if you ever built a cad model of your case. We have a 3d printer at out facility too and I would love to try out your case design if you don't mind sharing it. I would of course be willing to pay what you see fit. Thanks!
UI would be fibbing if I said I am not totally interested. I would really like an otterbox style commuter case that has a kickstand, a card holder (I would stick my rfid bus pass in it). The rest sounds interesting but I am not sure I would want to add a lot of bulk.
I cannot wait to you a sales link and some good pictures of the final product.
Oh, dear. Kudos on the first case; it looks awesome. I've had my skyrocket for about a month or so now and I can not find a case that I like. The kickstand and credit card holder on the same case would make me pay $50-$100 for it. The only thing I would be worried about is my phone getting scratched up on the inside of the hard case, you should try adding in some sort of material like otter boxes have on the inside. And will you post a couple pics of how it looks on your phone with the outside rubber shell on it so we can get a feel of how it looks on your phone. Thanks and good luck bro.
I would be extremely interested in a case that fit my seidio extended battery with a kickstand and a place to put credit cards I would pay 50-100

I think you design a case for people who still want a really thin phone but with like scratch protection like as thin as possible

Galaxy S 5 Car mount

Recommend the best car mount here for Galaxy S 5.
A bit more expensive, but the CraigsDocks Dock is billet aluminum and low-profile and is true one-hand operation and adjustable to work with S2, S3, S4, Note series and now the S5.
http://www.craigsdocks.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-s4-note-2-3-car-dock/
I've had mine a year and won't have to buy a new one when I upgrade to the S5 because it fits all large Samsung superphones.
It's also adjustable to work with ALL cases, including the extra large cases that have built-in batteries.

The air dock is what ultimately tipped the balance for me getting an S5, after seeing it I knew built-in Qi charging was a must have and since Sprint only offers the Nexus 5 in 16GB flavor (not nearly enough, I've got 15GB of stuff on my SD card today which easily exceeds the 12GB formatted capacity, not to mention 2 years from now).
Hope they will make something like this one :

It looks nice but the expense of it, $70 +20 for the charging coil, then still need a car charger so there's another $30(for an OEM)its a lot of money.
I got one of these a while back and its quite good, just make sure to hold the back of the phone whilst removing or sometimes the back cover comes lose on a clip or two with S4, the magnetism is quite strong.

Because its so hard to plug in USB lol, is it really worth an extra $75? Also there's no way that thing could output 2A so charging is going to be much slower, just my opinion.

notice my cd changer is curved out but the rubber "fins" still fit snug and very sturdy. They are rubber and do no damage. if for some reason it just will not fit in there on your car model, you can always send it back worry free (with Prime) but it shouldn't be a problem. the grip has a light rubber pad and is controlled by a spring action adjustment. I love it because i can easily place my phone into it by pushing my phone up and in. I take it out with the same motion, press up and pull out. it is made in Korea and the material and parts are very well made.
I really don't know why some of the people here are buying 50-70 dollar suction phone mounts. that is a total rip off.

Upon inspection of both of my vehicles, it looks like it will work really well and actually sit at a great height (within arms and eyes reach) and not block any controls to anything else (only blocking a clock in my Civic and a clock/temp screen in my Highlander)

I ordered a similar one, well basically identical, and it fits superbly in my 2008 honda accord exl. It sits just below all the controls. I was some what worried about it not reaching out far enough as the cd player is recessed when compared with all the radio and nav controls. But it's about as perfect as possible. The best part about this mount in my opinion is that it keeps a person like myself from having to many items on the windshield. Without this I'd have- Radar Detector, Phone, toll tag, and gps, way to many things, phone being the largest of them all. Anyway, I'll take some pictures and maybe a mini review later. I highly recommend to anyone who want a good out of the way docking solution.

thanks! I'd love to see pictures. I have an '08 civic ex... by looking at my dash, it seems like it would sit above all my controls and only cover up that little screen that shows the radio station and the time.

I'll take pictures when I get home this afternoon. I forgot my camera at home today. Was a bit flustered this morning. But I'll get you some pics for sure.

G6/G6+ cases & screen protectors

Well, let's see how this develops...
As for a case, I got these two for starters:
https://www.amazon.de/Spigen%C2%AE-Elastisch-Stylisch-Handyh%C3%BClle-Schutzh%C3%BClle-RA-Schwarz/dp/B07B9SKC5K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1527018512&sr=8-1&keywords=motorola+g6+plus+h%C3%BClle+spigen&dpID=510FXckhR3L&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
https://www.amazon.de/iBetter-Shock...pID=51XML3FlA7L&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
I like the Spigen better, they do quality cases for a reasonable price. Look and feel is way better than the iBetter.
Hi @Howlbeck,
I don't recommend the first one... I have a similar one for my Moto G5+ and it makes the phone very big. It's pure plastic!
For the second case, it may be thinner. So if you purchase it, please comment about it.
Any idea for a good screen protector?
Regards.
i bought mine like the first one and its really thin but it can absorb some falls and protects camera .

Sure! here you are:
I cant take a photo of my phone wearing it because i havent other device.
Same here - only difference: my one has "spigen" plus the logo imprinted. The other 2 pics are the IBetter.

To be honest, Manos:
I don't like cases at all, but I need them to give me some protection for my clumsyness... ;o)
When I'm at home or at stationary work, the case(s) comes off.
The one Motorola includes with the device is ok, but... Big but.
I do like soft, transparent cases - but they tend to fade to yellowish pretty quick, doesn't matter if you are smoking yourself or not.
As there is no soft transparent case available as of yet - the Spigen it is.

Me too!
I'll continue searching for a very lighty case.
Thank you!
Can anyone suggest me a case that adds grip to the phone since the glass back makes it very slippery? Too bad dbrand's grip case is not available for the Moto g6 plus .
As there are not many cases available right now, I think any case gives you a better grip currently. It's a matter of getting used to handling it without a case - as mentioned above, being inside I don't use cases - only while being outdoors as mentioned above.
As for cases making the phone bigger - well
The G6+ already is big, so I don't really care about a few more mms as long as it protects the device properly. Spigen did a very good job in the past, so I tend to coming back.
Compared to our Nexus 6P (Huawei) - this is "smaller" overall, barely bigger (taller, mostly) than the old Nexus 5X (LG) but - between Mrs. and myself, one of us will be using it. For an entry/budget Project Fi phone priced at $199 + tax, free shipping, I am very pleased with how it feel, look & setting it up, waiting for the case to arrive (delayed in transit ... by a day)
This is what I ordered, found it on Amazon - not a major "brand" name but appeared to provide the extra protections that we usually look for, and should not be too bulky. Otherwise, it does feel slippery especially with one-handed mode and we are know, sooner or later, it will be dropped accidentally - a little extra help on the corners & edges won't hurt. If a better & nicer case come up, I don't have a problem spending more or having an extra one around.

Once I get that, will put up pictures & have a side-by-side with the N6P (and, most likely, before I ship out the N5X ... battery is starting to not hold its charge, taking advantage of the "generous" trade-in allowance valued at $95, not bad - net cost to get the G6 is something I can live with, i.e. minus NFC, no G.Pay)
Been using Supershieldz's Glass screen protector and pleased with it, got 2 of them, so always have a spare around, just in case - put it on easily this afternoon, almost got it perfectly but at 98.5% - missed 2 spots with tiny dust trapped, but, who's going to notice it when device is powered on - only notice it when screen is dark/blank or powered off. Here's what they look like now.
Hi,
Regarding the screen protector, someone has used this "full screen" version?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/SDTEK-Moto...ns&keywords=SDTEK+Motorola+Moto+G6+Plus&psc=1
The other option is the "classic" glass:

I like to know the difference.

The first one has the cutoff around the earpiece, speaker & front camera openings, covered the front of the smartphone all around (and it's priced higher) ... should be precision cut - careful alignment & placement when installing is a must.
The second one is easier for them to produce with the simple cut out, and "could" leave some of the digitizer/screen area "less" protected ... installation is basically the same but a very slight misaligned placement should still be fine during the installation process. It's similar to the one that I just installed yesterday - with a protective bumper case over it, the odds of scratching or damaging the Gorilla glass is still fairly low. Plus, I make it a habit to always order an extra spare & set it aside, just in case - the old one that I used on the Nexus 5X has a lifetime & free replacement warranty, no questions asked - just proof of it being worn/damaged & they quickly mail a new one at no charge (worth paying a little more for those brands upfront).
On a side note, this Moto G6 ... is "cute" and slim, feel "small" in the hand but with the 5.7" widescreen ratio, is very nice for the price level - too slippery to use without a case when holding it (especially with the glass back.)

The full one has the black border on it, which also covers up the works motorola which I like...here is a pic of my wifes phone with the screen protector and an amazon case
Screen Protector x2 $6.98: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2X-ZenTech...ector-Guard-For-Motorola-Moto-G6/332666677282
Case $8.98 : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B4YHKTP
My Amazon G6 case arrived, and it came also with a clip-on face plate for belt carry ... something that is "nice" but I dislike, the hardware/spring doesn't look solid & could break - won't be nice to drop this at a height of several feet, unlike using one of those bulky Otterbox. Not going to use it - I either carry mine in a pocket or otherwise, use a BDU-style canvas pouch (in black).
Here are pictures of the G6, it's in the middle, for comparison with the Nexus 6P (Huawei) and the (LG) Nexus 5X (without the same style protective case) "naked" on the right for comparison.
The HD glass protector do leave a little area around the front surface of the G6 without "coverage" - dusts & lints, dirts could collect around the rim of the case/frame, so a periodic cleaning will be necessary, see the 2 close-up pictures.
We also have the old Motorola Nexus 6 and that's "big" compared to these - the G6 is about the same size as my dual-sim Huawei Honor 5X which I use for travel - the Moto G6 is very comfortable & feel solid being held in one hand with the case, providing a non-slippery hold ... and, it slide right into my old canvas belt pouch for "rough" day-to-day carry outside.

Keep in mind the full ones only have the adhesive around the outer edges and can pop off easily if you don't have on a case that protects the edges. But at the cost, they last a long while in my experience and look great!

Thank you for the info. In that case I'll wait until some intermedium solution will appear.
Regards.
I got the Poetic Karbon Shield, nice slim case, fits really good and adds a bit of grip on the sides. https://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Karbo...529368131&sr=8-4&keywords=moto+g6+poetic+case

For every phone I buy a Spigen case. I also bought for Moto G6 and I was not disappointed.
