[HOW TO] Force 3G (WCDMA) use. - Android General

There are some roms that does not allow the "3g only" option, especially kitkat-based custom roms. This can make you lose your mind to find a solution or even uninstall the rom, but you can easily solve the problem.
NO ROOT REQUIRED
--------------------------------------------------
1 - Open Dialer
2 - Type *#*#4636#*#*
3 - Open Phone information
4 - Scroll down and find Set preferred network type
5 - Choose WCDMA only
6 - Return to home and you are good to go!
--------------------------------------------------
You need to set everytime you boot your phone!

Hi. When I use this code on my Asus Zenfone 4 (A450CG) the Phone Information section is not visible. Is this normal?

force 3g
This does not work on LG G3 Lollipop 5.0 Software Version V20h-234-10. Is there any way to force 3g on Lollipop?

I found a solution how to force 3G on Lollipop 5.0
Ive downloaded Toggle Network Type 5.0 apk.
It works for me

[HOW-TO][E SS/DS]*UPDATED*Workaround for problems to save APNs manually on ICS ROMs

As most users already know, there is a bug in the dual-SIM ICS FTF if you flash it on Xperia E, not being able to manually save APNs. Infact, not being able to create them at all.
Well, I had this and fixed this problem on xmoose's XBoosT ROM , but since its based on the stock ICS firmware, it'll work for it too.
Here's what you want to do to fix it :
METHOD 1:
Disable 'Data Transfer" : Go to Settings > (under Wireless and Networks) More.... > Mobile Networks > UNTICK 'Data Enabled'
Go Back, and turn ON Airplane Mode
Wait till its completely turned on
As soon as its turned on, turn it back OFF
Now go set up your APNs!!
Hit the THANKS !!
P.S : I believe the bug was because the ROM could not detect the MCC and MNC port numbers of your respective carrier. But this fixes it. Weird.
UPDATE: Looks like this bug exists in the Dual SIM variant too. To fix it on DS phones, follow these: OK, it seems the bug isn't device-specific. Just try either method (if Method 1 doesn't work, try Method 2)
METHOD 2:
NOTE: You'll need a working Wi-Fi network with for this!
Connect to any Wi-Fi network
Go to Settings > Dual SIM card > Untick SIM 1, and then tick it back again
Go to Settings > Xperia (TM) > Internet settings
The APNs should get downloaded and be working!
(Thanks to @TheRealSS for Method 2)
Will try this,if you are sure it works, let @UltraGamerHD note this in his Official thread under "How To"

[Q] [ROM][WIP][NAND] Omni - 25.10.2014 - WiFi Error

Hello to everyone,
volk204 has released this sensational rom for the remaining BADA-Users among us. Thank you for your support - this keeps the Samsung Wave S8500 alive.
I'm following this development for a long time, but this time it seems I need some additional help. I installed everything correctly - read all the available posts until now, but haven't found a solution for the WiFi Problem.
What's not working? After setting up all options like e.g. ("wireless&network" category -> Mobile Network -> Preferred Network type -> 3G only), the Wifi is still not connecting. I tried to wipe the cache, reset the phone to standard settings, re-flashed it. With or without sd-card no success .
Would it be possible that my network operator has something to do with it? I mean I still use a smartphone with no internet usage (except WIFI) - so there is no broadband package included.
Maybe someone is able to help me out
thanks in advance

Hello Dukekox
Sorry I cannot Help you for your WiFi Problem but Perhaps you will accept to spend a few minutes to Help me since you succeeded to install Android on your Wave S 8500
I am new on the Forum and not an expert in Flashing ROMS
I have a SAMSUNG 8500 with Bada I would like to suppress Bada and replace it with ANDROID
I Tried the procedure listed in the Topic by Volk ROM][WIP][NAND] Omni 4.4 - 11.12.2014
i could Download Bootfiles ( I have unzipped is it the right thing to do ? ) Startkernel and FOTA i have also Multi loader V5.67
i do not understand the following and I do not want to have my Phone Bricked ! - -
What happens after the Android recovery and see on the screen " Partitions had been prepared" ? Bada is stil in use ? You still can Boot on Bada ?
ROM means the Android File ? Where can I download this ROM ?
I copy the ROM on the Root of SD Card - OK
How do you do for the the Action Install ? Open the Folders in the Phone - SD Card - find the File of ROM an click on it - It opens Install ?
Do you have to set the Phone in - DOWN LOAD MODE ? vol low -+ camera + power
More personnal Questions - Which ROM did you actually install ? KitKat 4.4.4 ? Gingerbread ? Cyanogen mod ?
Too bad if you cannot have the Wifi - You can however have the applications on Playstore ?
Does it suppress Bada ? - Is it possible to reinstall Bada ?
Many Thanks in advance for your Help - Georges

Hidden menu codes? 6045I

Was wondering if anyone knew dialer codes for this phone? In particular I'm trying to try and force Band 4. At home my phone keeps jumping back and forth between band 4 and 12 and band 4 is much faster .
Thanks
engineer mode: *#*#2637643#*#*
or *#*#4636#*#* or *#2886#

Is there other hidden menu codes? i'm searching especially the one for audio that unleash sound volume, thanks.
I still haven't found the one for unleashing the volume, there's a site, claims for engineering mode a code, which on my device enters drx switch, not engineer mode, which is actually *#*#2637643#*#* no "audio option" so no idea if this even applys to an idol3.
imho most simple thing is to install Quick Shortcut Maker app from Store.
with that you can make shortcuts to these hidden menus without any long codes.
(you just need to know the menus' name - ie. 'Phone information' for changing network modes)

i dont know if it works or not, but in samsung stock rom..usually the lte band is changed from service mode.
The service codes such as *0011# than entering Q than 0000 etc only work on or before Lollipop, you can try if that ROM is Lollipop (I have J7 2016). I also wanted to change Jio band but no solution.

code is working but method is not working in my samsung galaxy j7 marsmallow version.
I found this in the j7 group
Hunny Malhotra:
so guys here it is how you can change lte bands on samsung j7 for better speed in jio..
step 1 - first download nd install
"SHORTCUT MASTER LITE" from play store..
step 2 - then open it nd go to secret code explorer above on right side.
step 3 - then select system apps under options nd scroll down.
step 4 - go to code "2263" click on it and press "launch 0"
step 5 - then u ll reach service mode nd see stack 1 nd stack 2 there.
step 5 - go to stack 1 ( if jio in port 1)
nd go to band disable.
step 6 - select lte there nd disable band 5.
step 7- then press back 2 times above on right.
step 8 - then go to band selection nd open lte/gsm/tds/auto mode.
step 9 - now select band 40 as preferred nd close it.
here u go..
but speed depends on others factors too coverage in ur area..or u already on same band etc.
but still u ll get almost double speed what u r getting rightnow..
u can also disable band 3 but that might result in lost of networks in case u r in poor network area.

Emergency call only.

Hi all, I have the title problem, mi nexus 5 won't take signal with my Wind (ita) sim. I have tried two device, galaxy ace plus and galaxy S5 and they can take signal using same APN and located on the same desk in my house.
I've searched a lot on XDA and other forums to get a solution, but I can't find anything that's can help me. I can't seen it to Google because I can't find his original box and the original receipt.
My phone can take signal only using "xTraSmooth" rom, but is very old and I want to use Pure Nexus.
I've added this string to my build.prop it was posted as a potential solution:
"#settings
telephony.lteOnGsmDevice=1"
And I've changed *#*#4637#*#* option to LTE/GSM/wcdma auto (prl)
But at every reboot it set itself on LTE/GSM, with or without the build.prop string.
I know that is a common problem, but no one found a real solution.
Thanks in advance.
If everything works on a stock rom, you need to use a different custom ROM.

Today I will try to flash xtrasmooth or a stock factory image, thanks for the tip
----\\\UPDATE///----
Flashed same xtrasmooth, inserted string in build.prop and i do the trick with *#*#4636#*#* and the phone set itself to LTE/GSM auto (prl).
I wanto to use my nexus, why this phone have a lot of problems?
----\\\UPDATE 2///----
Flashed miui 8 global by Dio_S used the build.prop string and now work, i have to be lucky with a rom now? i don't like miui, and i will test other rom, i hope in a normal rom...
----\\\UPDATE 3///----
(i hope last update)
I've searched a lot to reach the best solution with this phone.
Now im using DarkRom and i've found a solution! Or something like a solution, hahaha.
I've downloaded "Nexus5 field test"
Give root permissions (magisk or super su, think doesn't matter)
Select three dot
Hit "Root Settings"
Select three dot
Hit "Settings (view)"
Hit LTE
Hit edit
Write your service code (id you dont have this code use this guide to get it using adb https://forum.xda-developers.com/go...radio-enable-lte-band-3-nexus-5-d820-t2928561 )
Use these settings:
Lte Enable/Disable (enable)
Band26 (disable)
Band41 (enable)
Band25 Proirity (1)
Band26 Proirity (1)
Band41 Proirity (0)
hit back to reboot and now should work, if not i don't know.
You have to reboot every time you select Airplane Mode and it will work!
Good Luck!
Can i up this post? If someone would to test my solution i will be very happy!
