is there a bootloader that you can go to via power + vol down like HTC devices? if so, there might be a factory reset option
i have no idea if it'll work, but this is the best solution i could think of

thanks for the reply. but when i say there is no recovery that means no options in bootloader only the droid system logo plus it will not connect to adb at this point so cannot push any file to the tab.
most of the chinese tab's are coming without recovery so some people create recovery for such tabs via memory card. even someone have created for this tab also but for his bad luck, usb debugging is not ticked so he cannot push any thing.
i think the last option is to jtag but very less chances there could be software drivers to jtag this tab. all in all its dead story

I'm sorry to hear that. That's why I never let people touch my devices. The same thing happened to my HOXL back in the day

There are lots of persons who brag about this and that, and they handle a device they do this type of things...
It is better not to give people with little knowledge access to device that they cannot handle..
Ps : try other key combinations while powering on might just hit a jackpot

Factory Reset a chinese made tablet.

I have this Sanei n77 tablet. and it locked with too many pattern attempts. (My Brother thought it was pretty fun.) it asks for google username ans password but as the tablet had been given to me by my uncle i dont know it. Plus internet connection is not there too.
I figured Factory reset would be my best bet. So tryied to boot into recovery mode through different hardware combinations (Vol - + Power | both vol + power | Vol+ + power. is there any other combination?) No success. so i tried it through adb. no Success. apparently usb debugging is off.
Now what? any directions? is there a way to allow me to try the pattern again as i know it? is there another way to boot into recovery?

Hi,
I am not a developer. This will be my first smartphone/tablet.
I ordered a N79 from eBay (Chinese manual only) and plan to activate it on Page Plus Cellular. I foresee many frustrating problems and hope you will please help me.
Do you have a user manual in English, and if so, could you please email it to me?
Also, if you think I made a big mistake, let me know and I will cancel the order.
Thank you so much,

Hi.
I see you have a N79. Finally there is someone else in this world that has one that I can talk to. I hope you will take the time to help me since 1) there is no manual in English that I know of and 2) I am new to Android and tablets in general.
I have had mine for over a week and have not set up cell & data service yet. I am waiting for an H2O wireless sim card to arrive and will try them first since they are insanely cheap. I also have a ConsumerCellular sim card and am holding that as a backup in case H2O doesn't work.
Everything else I am intuiting and trial and a lot of errors.
Two questions for now: I have tested 2 movies (downloaded from the internet onto my desktop then sideloaded onto the 16GB micro SD card via the charger/USB cable) using the built in MX player and the audio lags behind and the video occasionally stops and starts. I even Handbraked one and lowered the bit rate to be under 1000 thinking that might help.
Any ideas? And please remember I am not a developer and really don't want to root it. Playing movies on the treadmill is one of the major reasons for getting it.
Where is the microphone located? I know the earbuds have a mic, but when I start using it as a phone I just want to hold it to my ear. And eventually maybe I'll try the voice commands etc.
Thanks again.

i had the english manual in pdf when i received the sanie it was located on the internal storage but my dumbass erased it..
Mines didnt work at first when i put in my t mobile sim card so what i did was reset the tablet with the sim card inserted and let it boot back up and everything worked fine i didnt have to change any settings regarding the network everything worked calls text web etc
The mic should be at the bottom of the tablet.. one way to check is hit the dial-er app and once the numbers pop up try to turn the phone around or upside down and the dial-er pad will not move so that should give you where the mic is at usually the speaker located at the bottom of the dialer pad. as for the mx player make sure you have the codecs updated because mines only has lag on 3gp videos.. the best files that work on mx player are mp4 formats.. i also tested different video players with the same result 3gp videos lag...

Hi sorry for the late reply, but I had some problems with my internet suplyer.
First, I liked the tablet a lot. My brother love it also and, recently my pc broke, he lend me is laptop in exchange for the tablet.
The best way to root it I think it is the program framaroot. I leave here the version 1.6.1
Hope this helps you and the others.
About the manual... I'll ask my brother to see if it comes in the internal storage like another member said. I'll send it to you them.
best regards everyone
ok so i purchased another sanei n79 for 26$ on ebay seller sold it for parts and once i received it it was in perfect working condition.. It just needed to be charged.. any way the sanei had a pattern lock so this is what i did
Turn off the phone-tablet
Then Hold down the Vol + and Vol - at the same time for about 10 to 15 secs and it should take you to the recovery.
I was able to wipe/factory reset.
This phone-tablet had CWM as recovery so good for me..
hope this helps i am about to root this tablet the way i did before
I have a post on here as well on how i rooted this tablet..
Guys please stop answering posts when you don't really know the correct answer. It pisses me off.
Factory resetting a Chinese tablet can't always be done from a tablet. Some sanei devices running rockchip SoC can be wiped from recovery. But others running Allwinner chipsets Cannot be resetted using recovery. All Sanei devices have their firmware images uploaded on Sanei site with instructions.
The site is in Chinese though. If you change the language to English you will NOT find all firmwares.
If you need a direct link for your Sanei tablet then tell me and I'll send you a direct link to the download link with detailed instructions.
Sanei N77 has different firmwares since there's a version that has one camera and a version with double camera. So tell me which version do you have and I'll send you the firmware

[HELP] Cannot factory reset a Kyocera Hydro Wave (C6740N) on Metro PCS

Greetings to all the developers and registered users on this site... Yes, this is my first post, but I read here pretty often and I used the search function, trust me! Seriously, I've tried all I could and I am at my wits end, but this is technology, we can't let it own us, we gotta continue owning it and that's what online communities like xda help us do, so thanks for all your past, present, and future contributions here. So I got this Metro PCS Kyocera Hydro Wave (C6740N) that I can't factory reset for a number of reasons, but mainly because I believe that there is either no boot-loader or no recovery partition as a result of Metro PCS flashing the ROM...
Anyway, lets get to the juice:
- Device powers on/off, but no combo of Vol -/+ and Power buttons bring up a recovery menu or anything (holding any combo down just boot-loops)
- Device has no SIM and no micro SD card, and the battery is not removable
- Device is locked... Like, pattern-locked/google account info/too many attempts/yada yada yada
- Device has no data and no WiFi connection active, so I could not use the google account to get past the lockscreen
- Device does not have USB debugging enabled/Google drivers for ADB do not work (Windows 7 auto-detects when I plug in the phone and installs a generic Microsoft driver which cannot be removed even after uninstalling the device, and also I pointed the Device Manager to the correct Google drivers I installed with the Android SDK Tools, as well as the Samsung Naked Universal Drivers I found on this forum, and Kyocera ADB drivers I found through Google which all failed, Windows returned a message stating that the most up-to-date or best driver for this device is already installed)
What I've tried (everything possible really):
- Hard reset/Recovery from phone: FAILED
- Connect to Linux and install ADB, then tried running the adb shell, adb devices, fastboot devices, etc but phone not detected: FAILED
- Connect to Windows 7 and install ADB (Android SDK Tools), I literally checked every single box and installed Platform-tools, google drivers, everything, got to the command prompt as admin, cd to the ADB directory, ran same commands as in linux, also tried commands on several forums and posts like adb shell rm /data/system/gesture.key to remove the lock but everything: FAILED
- Connect to Windows 7 and attempt to install proper drivers using RootGenius, MoboRobo, PDAnet, and several other suggestions which all were oblivious/unable to detect the device despite Windows recognizing it, so they all: FAILED
- Connect to Windows 7 and attempt running ADB through a Cygwin terminal, but the command "sudo" was not recognized/not valid, so: FAILED
- Connect to Windows 7 and use XRYViewer to extract data from the phone, possibly to see the system files and get an actual understanding of what everybody is saying you need to mount from the recovery partition, but no clue how to use this, since I can't find an XRY file in the internal storage, so: FAILED
- Connect to Windows 7 and access data/recover data from device using "Wondershare Dr.Fone for Android" and "iLike Android Data Recovery Pro" but both programs instructed me to enable USB Debugging, which is not possible, so the both also: FAILED
Despite this being my first post, I have scoured the forums here in addition to every other forum and webpage regarding this issue as well... There just isn't much about this phone except negative reviews, and I have come to the conclusion that on this particular model phone, I am out of options... I have a paperweight... I'm not very familiar with Android... So please correct me if I'm wrong...
Any input?
I'm curious if there are any options at this point, I have been trying to get through to this phone on several computers for the past couple days and it is frustrating me... Any input from the community would be much appreciated...
Mojo2XL, I guess you did not find an answer?

may be this:
*2767*3855# - Think before you give this code. This code is used for factory format. It'll remove all files and settings including the internal memory storage. It'll also reinstall the phone firmware.
I found code in internet, but may be it works? can't check, my "wave" comes to me from USA by post for a few weeks..

Did you happen to get the files the other member posted that was only available for eight days?
Mojo2XL - Sort of.
I saw a youtub video (sorry no link) that says there was a OTA update that changed the phone's firmware that solved all the problems mentioned here. Thing is I have no carrier and cannot find this new firmware, but, I am still hunting....

Hey hold the buttons as follows volume- & power at the exact same time while your phone is off be warned if you phone was preowned you need the goole account originally activeated with that phone if you do not have that then your in the same vote as me i cant remember any of my gmail account info to my wave from when i had it active I have litterally tried every thing to recover the info and i still can't recover it

I accidentally stumbled upon a something weird. I've managed to make the camera crash to the home screen somehow. I believe this was a result of holding both volume buttons and opening numerous menus while using the camera. My guess is that it overloads it after a certain amount of times and causes it to crash. I've gotten the android UI to crash like this before. I will try to recreate the scenario and update you guys on this. it's on a Kyocera Hydro Wave. Running android 5.0 I believe. Try going wild until the phone starts to lag. eventually stuff will crash and the lock screen may go with it. use this to your advantage and enable USB debugging as quickly as possible because it will reset itself after about 30 seconds. Someone else on YouTube has recently told me that it worked for them. I would look into doing that.

Is there anything a little more realistic possible? Lol, I can see an update available, can't connect to WiFi to update haha. The stuff they lock these phones with anymore i swear
I'm new to this forum, but NOT new to this site . I have visited here on numerous occasions seeking the help that needed . With that being said, I would like to offer a Bonafide, Tried and True way to factory reset the Kyocera Hydrowave . I KNOW that this work's for I have done in on numerous occasions for a friend of mine that works for Metro PCS ....
Step One: Completely power off the phone .
Step Two: Hold the Power AND Volume DOWN Buttons SIMULTANEOUSLY .
Step Three: DO NOT release any buttons, even when you get to the Boot Menu . (Very Important, If you don't do it right, you have to start all over lol ) .
Step Four: Once inside the Boot Menu, ONLY release the Power Button; or the Boot Menu will close and you have to start all over again .
Step Five: Use the Volume Down Button to Highlight the Wipe/Factory Reset Option .
Step Six: Use the Power Button to Select the option .
Step Seven: Watch the bottom of the screen for the progress, and then use the Volume Up Button to restart .
And there you have it . I hope that this helps out SOMEONE out there, because I feel good giving back for the help that I have received on here .
PS.( If you would like for me to post a Video Tutorial on this, can someone please tell me how to post the Video; I guess by me being a Newbie on here, I'm not allowed to do as of yet ) . If Anyone needs to contact me, as I'm not on here very often, my email is [email protected] .

As unrealistic as it may sound it actually works Trust me on this. its similar to the LG attack which... is nothing but entering a long password.
betanews.com/2015/09/16/bypass-the-android-lollipop-lockscreen-by-entering-a-really-long-password
Just give it a go. it already worked for one dude on youtube. it takes a while but it honestly works. If you can get it, update the phone as soon as possible turn the screen timeout off and let it update. when the phone resets the update will install and you will be able to factory reset.
I mean it couldn't hurt. if you're locked out with no factory reset and ADB tools won't work what else can you do?

Recover Data from (unrooted)Nexus 5 with broken screen without UBS-Debuging turned on

Hello,
as u can read in the title the screen of my (unrooted!) Nexus 5 is broken due to a bicycle accident. The phones flashes if I receive a new message but the screen just dont turn on. Unfortunately I have USB-Debugging disabled...
Now my question is, how can I recover my data? I really need it and ofc have no backup
I read a lot but I still have no idea...
I think, because USB-Debugging is disabled, it will be a lot harder.
(Note: Because I am new, I can't post links, so I replaced "www" with "[worldwideweb.]", sorry )
I found the following tutorial on YT:
[worldwideweb.]youtube.com/watch?v=B7Z_r0Z0CEo
The problem is ofc, that the Nexus hasn't got two charging ports...
Also I found this:
[worldwideweb.]androidphonesoft.com/resources/enable-usb-debugging-android-broken-screen.html (search for "Method 2")
but there is the problem, that this tool is only available for Samsung-Devices...
Now my last hope is, that I can recover my data with adb, but also there I got the problem, that I have USB-Debugging disabled...
(And I dont know, if I have to root my phone? (and if it is even possible without working screen?...)
So my Problems are:
- No USB-Debugging enabled
- No Root
- PC recognizes my phone but not more... (in CMD: "adb devices" doesnt list any device...)
So is there a way of recover my data? It's very important for me and I would be very grateful, if anyone could help me and accompany me through the process with instructions!
I had the same problem and couldn't find a solution. I tried for 3 entire days with any method found or that came to mind. Finally I decided to change the screen with one from eBay ,the cheapest one . If you find a solution let me know. The closer I could get was using an app that was supposed to let you control and see your nexus 5 screen on your PC screen. This app of which I can't remember the name had some bugs, maybe was an old not updated app, because I could see my nexus 5 lockscreen and an arrow controlled by the PC touchpad to simulate the touch, but sadly nexus 5 couldn't react to the arrow movement,a and nexus 5 screen was not full but only a part

But I think, that ur USB-Debugging was activated, wasn't it? Because I don't think, that this would work without USB-Debugging activated...
And then it would be easy, with USB-Debugging enabled there would be like 100 ways
I found no way to retrieve data . How would you do with Usb debugging? Or maybe I don't remember correctly and was for the fact that I had a lockscreen pattern and so Usb debugging is useless... Sadly I have a lg g watch that was not settled as a trusted device to disable the security or had home wifi area to do the same. Maybe there was even the fact that after a reboot you have to put the screen pattern the first time before the automatic unlock. I even tried to recover the partition from bootloader , but if I remember correctly it was hanging after some minutes. Don't ask me why emmc was god on nexus 5, I use the PC to do phone repair, and I'm a technician. I had the same trouble copying the full sdcard partition from recovery, and even restoring it to a new nexus 5 .Because the LCD was not as the original one and I sold the repaired for the same price of another not repaired n5. In the process of copying sd card partition content , it hangs another time. Seems to not digest the copying of some files under android subwoofers. Sorry for the confusion but I don't remember correctly, it was a nightmare. I had 2 infernal weeks because N5 is my first device even to work and I had to use my second phone , a really ultra cheap and underpowered Deco 77x(dual core1ghz with 512mb of ram) which has an M and even an N ROMs that works better than the stock 4.4... Slow as hell but the only way to save my work since my mother steel my galaxy Nexus. Try only to think I had to do some tries for 2 days, order the new screen, change it at a level that was invisible and good for the new user, wait for the new, try to restore a tarp backup to a different phone, find a way because it's not possible, copy sdcard partition , copy manually all the files which broke the full automatic copy process, compare all the folders files ... It was a PITA. Now I backup every month to a Usb otg Kingston key, at least I have only to restore it to a different device and do the sdcard things.... It's slow to create a backup but I can do it when is in charge, because the USB key do charge pass through and this is greaatttt even to watch movies (don't do that always, Usb key reach a really hot temperature, but case ,Usb port or phone shell reported not even a minimal sign)
The copy stopping could be a windows 10 bug ,never had that in 7 ... This new os is s*** ,has many small fu****g bugs... I wish I never updated ,I found those bugs after 1 month so I can't go back.

Ok, so there is no good solution? :/
Can I just replace the screen with a cheap one from ebay and then use it again? This should work, shouldn't it?
You can try yourself, but I found no way, I don't want to discourage you, but I tried all comes to mind and all gone wrong, and I'm an average user. Yea you can get a pretty cheap display... I tell you the truth, I didn't changed it for a new one after the repair because the display was not good, but because I was in warranty and here in europe Google gives you a refurbished unit if you have problems with a warranty of 2 years. So because my phone repaired was 90% the same as a new phone but battery starts to degrade I took the chance to request a refurbished unit because of the battery and to reset my warranty to two years. Mine was a 2013 unit, and I asked for a change other 2 times... I m in warranty til 2018 now . Going back to the display, from a technician examination, I can tell you that all the display I bought to repair my customers units seems to be original displays with original touchscreens, only slightly variations in colours calibration like on preassembled units. Only the plastic frame sometimes seems not legit, because 2 times I found it a deeper black and more rough (like sandstone of one plus one)
So I simply buy myself a new display and replace it and then I should (ofc) be able to backup it, right?
Is there a difference between like 30$ screens to 60$ screens on ebay for example?

Hello,
as u can read in the title the screen of my (unrooted!) Nexus 5 is broken due to a bicycle accident.

Yeah but I think, that I have to know what I should press after Volume down + Power on (for 10secs I guess)...
Which Linux version should I use?
Then I would create an bootable usb-stick with Linux and would try it

Wait wait
Turn the Nexus 5 ON , and other android phone with OTG SUPPORT.
Connect OTG cable to Other Android device.
Now connect your Nexus 5 to the Android device via USB cable.
Connection goes like this:
android device - otg - usb - Nexus 5
Now you can see contents of NEXUS 5 ON *other* Android device.
Hope it helps.

No.
You take Another Nexus 5 or any other device from a friend.
Connect OTG cable to the friend's device then connect ur Nexus 5 to your friend's.
Then your files will appear in ur friend's device.

Forgotten passcode - no wifi, data or debugging on.

Hi guys,
Im in big big trouble. I have samsung A5 (2015) which I did not use for the past few months. Now when I decieded to sell it and to put my pictures and docs
on hard disk, It happened that I forgot my passcode. So the device is not connected with the internet, and debugging mode is off. I have many files in the device itself and not on SD.
I tried ADB with no success - that's how i know that the device is not in debugging mode.
I opened my google account to check - the device is not active.
No custom recovery installed or ROOT - everything is stock.
I tried to call on the number to try to connect to wifi when in dialing mode, but than I remembered that I redirected my calls to my actual number.
So is there any solution? I searched the web for the past few days and I'm about to lose hope.
Thanks in advance!

Well I'm not sure there is any way to get those files off of the device without remembering the password. If the files aren't too important and you still want to sell the phone, just boot to the bootloader (power off, then hold power, volume up, and home at the same time until bootloader loads) and use the volume down key to go down to wipe data/ factory reset and click volume up to do it. Of course you won't get to keep the files, but the password wouldn't be an issue anymore.
Thanks for the answer. I would like to make everything possible to save the files first, but as I continue to research.. maybe Im out of options
I managed to log in my Samsung account "find my mobile" where I have an option to remotely disable the passcode, but since I do not have internet connection Im not able to do anything.
So sad.. files are there but I can't reach them.. because of my stupid head..
If some have any idea - I'm ready to try whatever.
Thanks in adnvance!

I actually just thought of something. If you are able to remotely remove the password, but can't get to the wifi, you might be able to use an OTG cable (micro USB to full usb) and get a USB to Ethernet adapter to plug your phone into your router for a wired internet connection. I'm not sure if this would work for Android or for this specific phone, but that's possibly a way.

[SM-T397U/Soti MobiControl/Help] My Dad just found this cool brick essentially...

My dad is a home improvement guy and apparently people left some things behind and the new owner didn't want them. One of these things ended up being a Tablet, now I'm understanding why it was given up. It starts and immediately loads into Soti MobiControl and I can essentially do nothing with it. I've both Factory Wiped Via recovery mode and tried to remove the sim and booting into safe mode which also didn't work.
The next step was to even see if I could do anything Odin related to it and I can't enter download mode I'm assuming since it appears to be an old work device, they likely didn't have USB Debugging on. So that wouldn't work for me either.
TL;DR
I have this tablet that has an app on it that doesn't allow me to do anything with it and so far what I've tried has done nothing. Does anyone have any clue ?
Hi!
Since I don't know what this app do or what it can restrict, I'll be having some issues but I'll try my best to help you.
First, Can you boot into system and go to settings? If yes, then go to About device --> Build Number --> Tap 7 Times.
^_^
After searching about Soti Mobicontrol, I found this:
Uninstaller
Please try this and reply.
