Lag on Razr HD with stock 4.1.2? - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys!!
finally my phone arrived!! so happy, big screen and very fast and smooth :laugh:
but now i got a problem...does anyone have a little bit laggy on the phone????? it actually happened after i update it to jelly bean 4.1.2...it came with 4.0.4 ics
ics seemed a lot more fast and smooth than JB 4.1.2
i installed nova launcher and i can see that apps and some stuff open a little big laggy...even when i open the drawer it opens a little laggy.
any ideas?
i rly didnt want to root the phone...actually i wanted but if i root i lose the warranty, so
any ideas of what can i do to make is smoother and not rooting?
i really wasnt expecting for this...i thought this phone was better. i feel like my galaxy s2 was smoother.

[Q] Should I Root my Asus Transformer

Hey guys, so im in a bit of a pickle. I have the The transformer B80 model and now after a while of waiting i can finally root it. What are some of the benefits of rooting this?
I have rooted my phone already (Nexus S) and this helped with carrier related issues and battery drainage. The main reason i rooted my nexus s was for an early release of ICS.
So back to the main point. Transformer B80. What are the benefits of rooting this device?
Thanks a lot for your opinions and help
Speed increase in home swiping and faster app loading and running. Removeing asus bloat is huge for me as well. And the themes are super cool too! Do it man! Its super easy!

Im a little scared to over clock, and i am obsessed with ICS and i heard that it is comming out for this. Im pretty sure there is a port for it already, but wouldnt it be buggy. Should i just wait for the ICS release and then root? Man i hate deciding
I don't overclock myself but even without oc you get a speed increase. If u like ICS then u could root and run prime rom. It's not ICS but looks alot like it and is very smooth. It's a tough decision but considering ICS is eventually coming you can't go wrong. I still say root, it's as easy to root and flash as any of the devices I have owned.
thanks, ill do it when i get home . and there will most likely be an ics rom with tweaks when it comes out.
My first tab (BB TF101-X1) and have the same question, been lurking/reading for little while. Looking at Razorclaw+CWM+Prime. So far running bone-stock, watching for ICS.
What I noticed is that some root but stay with stock rom. Why not go further to custom rom.

Absolutely. The ics custom rom will be even better!

[Q] ICS or GB?

There were such topics. But today we have April. Some things have changed.
I would like to know what do you prefer, what do you have on your Nexus. I went through ROM threads here and there are almost all ROMs with ICS. Yesterday I played with a smartphone of my friend where he has GB and I was stunned how quick it is. Samsung Ace, quite weak phone. But it was really fast and smooth. I use ICS because.... it's just nicer, better, everything. But every ROM I tested is quite lagy in opening apps etc., especially after some time when cache is filled.
I would never expect that I will be thinking about downgrade. What do you think? Howdo you feel about it?

Though i never have tried the gingerbread firmware for the nexus s,(i bought it used buy a friend) i would never in my life downgrade now, because the looks of Orginal Ice cream sandwich is so beautiful and crisp So never
Agree, but it is also lagy which you really don't need to notice until you try iPhone or lower Android versions.
I've used Nexus S for 11 months, so I spent a reasonable time with GB. In my experience, ICS is a huge improvement from GB in terms of speed and design. Everything is just so smooth and fast. A lot of people are saying that GB is much faster than ICS but in my experience, it's the other way around.

I'd love to say the same. But I have the biggest problem with opening apps which is really lagy. When I played with other phones on GB, that was absolutely instant, and when the apps were killed it was almost instatnt. But for my Nexus with ICS this is a problem. I am quite desperate with waiting all the time. The worst thing is tapping on contact to let pop up the contact dialog.
Yep, until ICS 4.03 these lags occured, but now with 4.04 they where gone. Is much better, GB-like responsiveness.

laggy ? which rom ? .. ive used bms stock ics, kongs miui and pixel rom .. none have lags especially with apex launcher
Your experience could be explained by transitioning from view to view? The transition animation in GB was a lot quicker than the default animation time in ICS. For this reason, I've been using 0.5x than the original 1.0x. If you wanted to remove all delay when opening an app you could use 0.0x times.
In my opinion, even if GB is "faster" the experience with the better apps, better APIs make it much more worth it to use ICS. I mean take a look at the MMS app in GB, then take a look at the MMS app in ICS: huge difference! Also, the Email app is much better.
GB is much faster but at the cost of user experience.
Good afternoon, how are you?
I particularly prefer ICS. It seems that the phone is smoother, faster. I have not experienced any kind of problem, or reboots, or loss of coverage, no nothing.
Graphic appearance is also important, and I think ICS improves enough to GB.

I can't stand the ugliness of gingerbread, but ics has poor battery life and keeps rebooting on my phone.
That's why I'm using miui gb. Works well and looks good too.

Agree. My Nexus lasts two days even though I call, send messages and use some internet.
I hope the lags are the problem of 4.0.3. I use Codename ROM, so I wait for the update on 4.0.4. Hope it helps me!
ICS is way better than GB. It has really come a long way especially after the release of IMM76D 4.0.4.
I use Pixel ROM 1.72 + Air Kernel 3.9.5, The result is a pretty awesome battery life. much better than that of GB, and lots of free ram. Its very stable.
I have had my share of ****ty roms on ICS especially the ones leaked by google, but the tables have turned, and ICS is very good now. and much smoother than GB. My phone goes by for days without a single reboot or lag.
I hope this was of help
Are you running stock 4.0.3? Or have you tried any specific ROM?
When ICS was initially brought to our devices, it was laggy and I did return to GB...but now (with all ROMs bases on 4.0.4 with kernels running BIGMEM)...I don't see any reason why going back to GB....just not worth it lol!!

7.0 Plus horrible lag please help

Can someone please help me get rid of the horrible lag on this tablet its unbearable..I have the wifi US version.
Thanks
A friend of mine got me the US P6210 (EULA3 Firmware) on holiday and bought it back to the UK for me.
I know exactly what you mean mate. The lag was horrible. Id open ONE browser window and it would crash after some time! crazy stuff.
Anyway the only way I solved this problem was by installing a new ROM. Its the Galaxy ROM HD by Ace9876. The visuals are exactly the same and you wont notice any difference but the ROM is highly optimized and tweaked for speed and stability. That, you can notice! Since I installed that ROM I have no problems with lag or stutter or whatever. I can have 10 tabs open in the browser and no lag whatsoever. Amazing.
First youll need to be rooted and also have Clockworkmod installed. This thread shows you how: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379532
Then you need to install the ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697123
Enjoy.
I was able to minimize some of the lag by rooting, removing the bloat, then installing a different launcher (like go launcher or adw)

4.1.1 OTA still gives lagginess

Opened my brand new Tab 2 P5110 10.1 yesterday and immediately received the Jellybean 4.1.1 OTA upgrade (UK).
I have noticed there is a certain lagginess when scrolling. Not a lot, but it is noticeable.
I even notice it when scrolling web pages.
I installed Apex launcher to see if that would help with the UI, (as I know there are options to speed things up), but the lagginess is still there.
I'm actually kind of underwhelmed by my Tab, after using my GT-N7100 Note II, and I can see I'll just end up selling it on if it doesn't improve.
Anyone recommend a ROM that will speed up my lovely TAB?
It's rooted, and can add CWM easily enough. No external SD card.
Thanks in advance.
lag free kernal
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950052 try this kernel out it will remove ALL YOUR LAG and help with your gaming I tested it and it worked flawlessly its for rooted stock ROMs I hope it helps you
Thanks.
Will this work on 4.1.x (Jellybean) rather than just 4.0.4 as the original post?

Interesting but i came from a Note 2 to a P3100 (needed a bigger screen) and after flashing to jerky bean i too had high hopes after using the note and it being blazingly fast. The simple truth was i noticed that due to the lack of memory compared to the note and its whopping 2GB RAM, it did lag the more apps I had open. I have managed to solve this by disabling a ton of Samsung stuff, and i regularly hit the clear all icon to shut down apps in the background.
Sounds like a hassle but it really isn't and doing this keeps my tab running blazing fast with no lag.
Bottom line i don't think the tab will run the same as the note 2....but of you figure out a way, if be interested to know.
Had a friend with the same problem on his 10.1 and he's done the same as me and he's seen an improvement.
I also installed holo launcher and have to confess I've never looked back!

No it will not work.
Maybe you can try any custom ROM in here.. . They get running smooth too.
There are Zero jellybean custom roms based on stock for P5110 I flashed the official CLK7 version with Odin and rooted it, then uninstalled the samsung bloatware, and it runs pretty fine, but it could definitely be better...

Problem is: there is always something not working properly with custom roms thats why I dont want to flash just yet.
Best would be clean, optimised stock rom with custom kernel.
I like the way it feels its just the lag is unbearable....

[Q] A Rom that makes Tab 2 as smooth as an Ipad 2

I'm in the same ROM searching boat as a few others on here but can't find a definitive answer.
Recently got the Tab 2 and after reading some good reviews I'm really disappointed with the endless glitchyness. I've got an Ipad2 which is smooth as silk but I don't get on with IOS at all. Have an Android phone and love it and originally bought a Motorola Xoom and ended up selling it because of the glitchyness and bought the iPad. Couple of years on whilst I didn't expect the Tab 2 to match the Ipad I just wasn't ready for the constant sticking when even doing the simplest of tasks such a browsing and I'm not overloading it at all. On the face of it the Tab 2 seems no better than the Xoom. I hope I'm wrong.
I didn't want to start rooting as I did with the Xoom (then in an effort fo make it smoother) so I feel I'm back to square one but am hoping there is a Rom that can make the Tab 2 as smooth as the iPad. If there is or if there is another way to smooth it out if I'd really appreciate any help there is out there. Have done a hard reset a couple of times also without much, if any, improvement. Thx.
Have you updated to Jelly Bean? It's pretty much smooth. I use the stock JB without root and don't have anything to claim about, and I also use Nova Launcher Prime since the 4.0.3 wasn't that smooth.

So are we saying this is the smoothest ROM out there currently? Is this ROM also stripped to the bone? I'm tired of bloatware.

Do try ripper rom by txr33 and use kkboot kernel by ketut..you will get a smooth debloated rom. You can have as high as 9000 antutu score.

Thanks for that, will give it a go. Is it a reliable Rom? Roms on my old Xoom used to crash all the time, I'm assuming things have moved on.

No immediate out of box issuses with my GT-P5113 I too ran Zapblaster for a bit, but was having Dropbox issuses. Switched back to Shackatus' stock rooted deodexed ROM. Very nice, smooth and pretty much no bloat
