Could we get some love for the Viewsonic Viewbook vb730 on XDA? I know that it's not that popular of a tablet but it would be cool to have a place for questions.
Agree... Should any big head of Xda help me on this? New firmware? Best software for this?

Do you have the vb730? I'd like your thoughts on this device. How much drive space is set aside for apps. This looks like the tablet for me. I just think the reviews do not give it justice.

Yes I do. I am using a Vb730. I do think it is a combination product of tablet and E-reader.
The Internal Memory is 8GB and the space for data application is about 5 GB/8GB. But you can expand the capacity by Micro SD... I am using 16 GB Micro SD card (around 30$ I think)
For an e-reader, it use LCD screen so could be not very good for your eyes.
For a tablet, it is not multiple touch screen so you can not use two of your finger the same time.
Most of the Android software can be installed by using Explorer software of this. It is quite simple. However, you could not install Android Market Software... But you can use Amazon Application...
I do think it is quite good with the price you have to pay...
Thanks. Now just waiting for Christmas to get this or the Galaxy Tab 7. I really think the vb would suit me fine.

I usually just uncheck screenorientation and then use snote in "landscape" i find snote better cos it has other cool features. I have physics course at school now and I honestly have no idea on the math part cos its been 2 years since my last physics course. Luckily I just bought my note 10.1 and I do all my homework (when I do) with it and when im on a lesson im the first one to finish our tasks cos i use snote my teacher asked me how i suddenly can do it so fast and i told her that im just so freaking good. I'd like to see her face when shes checking my exam which I obviously have to do without my note.. that's a little off topic but I find it to be a very good example on how good our device actually is

Yeah it could be much better I agree hope they develop snote more cos it has a lot more potential than it actually shows right now. Maybe the most important feature for me is splitscreen which sadly doesnt work on other applications..

Did anyone come to any further conclusions. I've had a look around the play store, and the main options I can see that remain even remotely affordable are:
- mindmeister
- simplemind
- iMindMapHD (more pricey)
- connected mind
- snote with shapes enabled (I find these hard to edit)
But none claim any form of stylus support
Any feedback on which are the most usable for quick editing, navigation, use of handwriting (to name a node, or add notes to a node) and especially any comments on whether or not the spen helps

Hi,
I try iMindmapHD, however it doesn't support spen. Now, i usually use Qill App to draw and take notes. This application supports to draw lines and shapes too. I can try.
Have fun.
Mindjet
I've been using the Mindjet program in windows version for years. I've tried many Android apps, but I went back to Mindjet because
1. It works the way I do.
2. You can customize the look a great deal.
3. You can standardize node to make it easier to recognize later.
4. The files are compatible with the Windows version.
Your mileage may vary.

Interesting idea, but the app is £5.50, has no comments & minimal description -- though the pictures look nice
Any app at that price needs either a demo period and/or restricted free version so that the user can see if it's suitable
http://elevenworks.com/touchdraw-features/ gives some info (though android isn't listed on their website), though again it's unclear how usable the s-pen might be, or the app generally.
I've sent them some questions at https://twitter.com/touchdraw

It'll help, but not make it free. He stated the cost of TouchDraw is £5. On the market here in Canada the cost of the app is $13.50.
With that said, how do I get this $5 USD voucher?

Here is an option...
Samsung ativ win 8 tablet comes with snote. I have often sent my snote files from 8013 to my friend can open them on windows 8.
We just need to get an installer out of it that will work on other win 8 laptops.. and hopefullt win7.

I copied the .snb file to my PC, extracted it with 7 Zip, navigated to the snote folder, and opened the snote.xml in Word. It gives me all the text and is very readable. It didn't, however, give me the photos and videos I had embedded in the file, but I imagine (not being a computer geek) that those instructions are contained in the other .xml files, as I have a folder in the archive that also contains those elements.
Yes, it would be great if Samsung could port the S-Note to Windows.

I have a new Samsung Ativ T700. It uses an Intel Core i5. In the metro environment there is an SNotes app that is the same as on our tablets. Well, actually, the tablet is better, but you can copy your notes over and then import them into the Win8 version. Works fine.
I'm lost on what your referring to I guess because I don't have a ATIV, but can you clarify what is a metro environment?
Google "Metro UI"
I don't understand how people today STILL don't realize 90% of all questions in the universe have already been answered on Google.
Did I know it was a ui ? Sorry I assumed someone could answer a simple question without being a ****.

Icryan, the problem is that it's not just you. It's pretty much anyone blind or too lazy to use Google.
Nothing to do with being a ****. I'm teaching you and others like you the solution to the rest of your life.
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
Try working in retail tech one day, you'll see how many times the same simple question that can be answered by the FIRST link on Google gets asked.
IE: how to MUTE the VOLUME * face palm*
If everyone were like you, every forum would be FILLED with IDENTICAL question threads, and eventually NO ONE knowledgeable will bother answering after repeating the same answer 10 times.
Just Try it, help yourself get some perspective.

I knew what you were talking about (vaguely), but for kicks, I Googled metro, and didn't find anything, results improved after using metro environment, but barely. It might seem obvious to you, but not to someone who isn't sure as to what they are looking for.
Using your analogy, there is a difference between teaching a man how to fish, as opposed to telling him to throw a hook into the water.

Now, upon seeing this, he/she would have had enough terms ["windows 8 metro"] for retrieving a relevant Google search result.
clearly, In this case, simply READING would have been faster than posting a message and waiting for someone to post an answer.
But that's your choice. Kind of like double clicking on internet links, sure it'll work, but it's a waste of everyone's time and effort.

It depends what kind of music-making app you're looking for.
If you want score notation, Ensemble Composer Pro
Pocketbeats/FL Studio have Android versions as well if you're looking to make music without the notation

Thanks for the reply. At the moment, I am not sure what kind I am looking for. I am trying to get an idea of what's available but most likely an app that adds music notation is what I need.
Avoid anything requiring real time input as latency on Android is horrific. So my honest advice is to buy an iPad if you want to create on a tablet. Better yet buy a laptop for the same price and run Reason. Job done.

App that adds music notation, Ensemble Composer Pro would be your best choice. Everything else is single-track oly, but if you can live with that that shouldn't be a problem.
Sadly in terms of music composition apps, Android isn't quite there yet...not ones that require full-on notation and traditional score anyway.

I wish there were some developers here that could fix the latency since Google has no plans to do anything about it. The music apps are the one thing I miss from iOS. The number of people this would be useful too seems to be a very small minority though.

There is an application out there for android that is supposed to do all that but you need an apple ID and password and it goes through some servers in China before going to apple so I'm not sure it would be worth it.

Honestly, it would be irresponsible to share it. I remember when it was doing the rounds, and it did actually work but it sent every IM, sent AND received, to and from a server in China. The privacy concerns are obviously high, not just for the Android user but primarily for the unaware iOS user.
I don't think that kind of thing should be encouraged on XDA.

Yeah, that app also had the ability to download apps in the background. There was a some saying that since it went through that server in China, it could have have the possibility to steal data from Apple IDs. Like credit card numbers. Its a shame, because it did work pretty good. Hopefully since Hangouts is on iOS now, maybe someday they'll be nice and bring iMessage to us.
Another solution would be to convert everyone to android so iMessgae would become irrelevant.
