Hello everyone, been reading these forums.for a while now. . Recently registered. I have a question you all might be able to help me out on. I've been having fun flashing roms left and right since the unlocking of the bootloader, love this phone. Screen, removable battery, speed, eveverything. Only downfall is my signal issues. Flashed new modem, tried just about everything, still everyone is choppy and.I'm dropping calls. Also been informed people have tried calling me with my phone not ringing. Coming from a razr maxx and before that OG razr, then droid x. My question to all is I have a friend who's willing to trade his razr maxx limited edition (red and black kevlar) and 100$, for my s3. What do you guys think? Stick with the s3? Wait for official JB? Hold out for Razr HD? Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Personally, I'd rather have the GS3. But if strong signal & battery life are your 2 number 1 features, then maybe the maxx is better. You should be able to do better than $100 cash in the trade.
You sure it's not that your S3 is defective? If you have access to another S3, maybe try it in the area you use your S3 most often.

I second this.
I'd Odin back to 100% stock/bloated and run it for a little see if the connectivity issue is resolved. If not bring it to verizon and tell them to fix it/replace it. I wouldn't take a step backwards to a Razr Maxx or no Maxx.... ick. hehe

I agree I think I would be extremely disappointed going to the Razr Maxx from the S3...I would think that it would be defective and flashing back to stock via odin, or having Verizon replace it for you would fix the problem...I think your best bet is to see if you can get better service with your S3 first before making a decision some might say your bound to regret.
Well Motorola is great with unlocking bootloaders./

Is that sarcasm? Because I didn't think any of them that were locked got unlocked....
My mother also has the SGS3, coming from an HTC rezound and is experiencing the same problems call quality/signal strength. Must just be a weaker radio in the samsung devices. All of my motorola devices were flawless when it came to not dropping a call.

Did you have dropped calls with your previous RAZR Max or droid x?
And is 4G coverage where you are good? Coming from a RAZR Max, I definitely prefer gs3.
My opinion - if you're going to trade it in, wait for RAZR HD. It looks slick.

Seriously...If your going to downgrade that much, well then go all out and get a iphone.
Go back to stock first and see if you have true signal issues
Droid RAZR MAXX is a downgrade

Thanks guys, I LOL'ed at the iphone downgrade. As for the previous questions. The 4g in my area is pretty decent. With the maxx, I was always connected, but more importantly I never dropped a call. I am going to odin back to stock and give it a go for a bit. Ill keep you posted however, the question remains. . . If I continue to have problems, what do I do? I really don't want a Factory refurb. Idk, maybe I'll try dumping it off to someone on CL.

If the MAXX is the red and black employee edition, double check to make sure it can be transferred to another person. There was some fine print attached to the employee edition razors.

I agree, my Son has a Razr Maxx (ALL he cares about is battery life) & I would hate to trade with him.
Coming from a rezound I've missed two calls. Regretting slightly. So I feel you. I'd go with the maxx if you need better reception, battery, and don't care too much for roms
Synergized GS3

That is a supremely dickheaded move. Since you don't want a refurb you are going to screw over someone else and sell them a $500 phone with a bad radio and no warranty. Real classy.

Hello there!
Does anyone knows if car dock from previous generation RAZR/RAZR maxx fits on the RAZR HD (regular)?
I was comparing the dimensions of both Maxx devices and they are pretty much the same.
I'm interested in an OEM car mount but the old one is much cheaper now, so that sounds like an alternative.
I tried an eBay/universal car mount but USB port and right-side buttons aren't accessible at all.
Thanks in advance!

I have the one made for the HD and it is incredible. It's worth the money and even fits my HD with a diztronic case on it!

Sorry, but the usb ports on the OG Razr are on the bottom ... usb ports on the Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD are on the side. Thus, it won't work!

i really like the dock for the hd compared to the dock for the og razr...with the hd dock you just sit the phone in the dock, lower the top and go...:good:
Here's another question, is there one dock for the HD and the maxx HD? Or is the thickness difference prominent enough to merit a separate car dock for each device?

Hi,
I just received the Motorola Car dock for Razr HD/Max HD, and it works great.
As SaddleTramp said, 3 options for the dock :
- Adapter Razr HD
- Adapter Razr Max HD
- Razr HD/Max HD with protective case
The phone automaticaly switch to car mode when you plug in into the dock.
It launch car application, enable vocal command.
Really good !
Is there any Canadian with original Motorola dock for Razr HD I can see on Ebay and amazon.com no can. retailer is selling them ? Or any alternative ?
I had my good old Droid X car dock "tweaked" to RAZR Max's HD... a little use of file and sandpaper did a trick and save me couple bucks. If interested I can send you more details.
Please send me the information. Thanks!

I have a droid Maxx (that's the model number when I go to "settings" - "about phone") specifically, XT1080.
Is this the same as the ultra, or merely very similar?
I'm trying to determine if I need to keep looking for another forum or if I'm already in the right place.
Is this where I should be if I have a Maxx, or is there somewhere better?
Thanks.

Hey, welcome to the forums! Yes, Ultra and Maxx are exactly the same. The only SOFTWARE differences are the phones say either ULTRA or MAXX. Hardware is exactly the same, really only the build of the device jtself is the biggest difference. The Maxx is XT1080m, by the way, but it doesn't matter really.

The only difference is size of the battery and that the Maxx has wireless charging, the Ultra does not.

And the Maxx has 32GB total raw memory, the Ultra 16GB. So, aside from battery, memory and charging, the entire hardware package is identical.
Awesome, thanks to all for your warm welcome, looking forward to exploring this area of XDA, in the past I've spent time mainly in the nexus one, lg g2 (nightmare), galaxy nexus, and note3 forums.
The Maxx is a complimentary device in my arsenal, and have been very pleasantly surprised by its power, speed, and subtle simplicity. (Really though, no torch option by default?)

thx, now another question i was unable to answer by searching...
If I cannot unlock my bootloader through Motorola (used their tool to check, but my device is not eligible) can i still unlock?
I have a Verizon Droid Maxx, and it is NOT a Dev Edition.
If so what's my best route?
THanks

Screenshot attached, sorry for delay, I missed the notification somehow.
I'm getting worried that I won't be getting root on this device.
I feel it could definitely benefit by removing a brunch of the stock crap apps... titanium backup... Servers... Every good app needs root it seems....
Again, if there's a FAQ on this device I'm missing please link me there, I'm just not finding the info that is normally documented for devices.
Thanks.
