Hello everyone, been reading these forums.for a while now. . Recently registered. I have a question you all might be able to help me out on. I've been having fun flashing roms left and right since the unlocking of the bootloader, love this phone. Screen, removable battery, speed, eveverything. Only downfall is my signal issues. Flashed new modem, tried just about everything, still everyone is choppy and.I'm dropping calls. Also been informed people have tried calling me with my phone not ringing. Coming from a razr maxx and before that OG razr, then droid x. My question to all is I have a friend who's willing to trade his razr maxx limited edition (red and black kevlar) and 100$, for my s3. What do you guys think? Stick with the s3? Wait for official JB? Hold out for Razr HD? Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Personally, I'd rather have the GS3. But if strong signal & battery life are your 2 number 1 features, then maybe the maxx is better. You should be able to do better than $100 cash in the trade.
You sure it's not that your S3 is defective? If you have access to another S3, maybe try it in the area you use your S3 most often.

I second this.
I'd Odin back to 100% stock/bloated and run it for a little see if the connectivity issue is resolved. If not bring it to verizon and tell them to fix it/replace it. I wouldn't take a step backwards to a Razr Maxx or no Maxx.... ick. hehe

I agree I think I would be extremely disappointed going to the Razr Maxx from the S3...I would think that it would be defective and flashing back to stock via odin, or having Verizon replace it for you would fix the problem...I think your best bet is to see if you can get better service with your S3 first before making a decision some might say your bound to regret.
Well Motorola is great with unlocking bootloaders./

Is that sarcasm? Because I didn't think any of them that were locked got unlocked....
My mother also has the SGS3, coming from an HTC rezound and is experiencing the same problems call quality/signal strength. Must just be a weaker radio in the samsung devices. All of my motorola devices were flawless when it came to not dropping a call.

Did you have dropped calls with your previous RAZR Max or droid x?
And is 4G coverage where you are good? Coming from a RAZR Max, I definitely prefer gs3.
My opinion - if you're going to trade it in, wait for RAZR HD. It looks slick.

Seriously...If your going to downgrade that much, well then go all out and get a iphone.
Go back to stock first and see if you have true signal issues
Droid RAZR MAXX is a downgrade

Thanks guys, I LOL'ed at the iphone downgrade. As for the previous questions. The 4g in my area is pretty decent. With the maxx, I was always connected, but more importantly I never dropped a call. I am going to odin back to stock and give it a go for a bit. Ill keep you posted however, the question remains. . . If I continue to have problems, what do I do? I really don't want a Factory refurb. Idk, maybe I'll try dumping it off to someone on CL.

If the MAXX is the red and black employee edition, double check to make sure it can be transferred to another person. There was some fine print attached to the employee edition razors.

Keep the S3!
Definitely keep the S3, no question!

I agree, my Son has a Razr Maxx (ALL he cares about is battery life) & I would hate to trade with him.
Coming from a rezound I've missed two calls. Regretting slightly. So I feel you. I'd go with the maxx if you need better reception, battery, and don't care too much for roms
Synergized GS3

That is a supremely dickheaded move. Since you don't want a refurb you are going to screw over someone else and sell them a $500 phone with a bad radio and no warranty. Real classy.

F*ck it I'll buy a RAZR Maxx n do a straight trade with you lol

I don't normally do the +1 thing cuz it's kinda stupid... but +1
Title. Not sure if I'd do it, though.
Not in a million years. I'd rather have the 2012 model anyway, though.
Why would you want to?

If anything, the software will be better. But I'm fine with my MAXX HD right now.

A lot of things should be and probably will be better than the RAZR HD with the X. But after all your current isn't that bad though other brand owners will tell u it's rubbish Not going to get the option in the UK

I don't think I would trade my MAXX HD in right now, but I can tell you I hope some of the devs are able to port the firmware over. While I doubt I would use touchless controls, the new notification system is something I can see myself using a lot.
i guess two questions pop into my head...why would you want to, and why should they?
If you complain enough you *might* be able to get a alternate device swap for it but it would be rough. If you have an unlocked bootloader on your HD you are giving that up as the Moto X on Verizon does not have an unlocked bootloader. The dev version will though.
I guess the way I look at it is the Razr HD will eventually get 4.2.2 or 4.3 and if I cant wait i will just enjoy CyanogenMod until they do. Now if you have a regular Razr HD and not the MAXX and you have a locked bootloader or dont care about locked bootloaders then go for the X. Just complain enough and they will probably let you switch. I would wait a month though after its released to try as you dont get a new X or any new device as you only get refurbs. Have to give time for refurbs to show up in order for them to think about switching you.
I complained alot and they kept asking me to send my phone for repair. After three sends, I gave up, unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom rom. No more over heating issues now.

Well, I'm due for an upgrade and I was checking out the Maxx that's being released on the 20th with Verizon. I had the X2 and I thought it was a pretty good phone, so I was just wondering what you guys think about the Maxx.

I'm wondering what you think I could sell my razr hd for - spotless screen, a little bit of wear on the corners, otherwise fully functional.
I've only seen locked bootloader listings, and mine is unlocked.

Check eBay. I'm seeing some starting around $230.
Has anyone tried this? I know you could do it with the OG razr.
By looking at disassembly videos I don't see a problem.
You would probably not get the wireless charging.
Any ideas?

Is the battery bigger in physical size than the ultras?
Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
It works, but you will need to replace the Ultra back with the back of a Maxx iirc.

Hey are you sure about this? It means if I buy a Motorola Droid MAXX XT1080M Battery Door and Maxx battery I can use it on my Droid Ultra?

This is a disassembly video. This topic was addressed in the comments and the said: ". If you put the maxx battery in a ultra, it will automatically change the phone description in the settings menu of the phone to say droid maxx instead of droid ultra." How cool is that I'm thinking about giving it a try.
ya!
Yes me too. Just take a look at this:etradesupply.com/motorola-droid-ultra-xt1080-battery-eu40
