Hi, i'm new here on xda forums, i own a galaxy tab gt-p5110 and i flashed the lastest official JB 4.1.1 BTU (United Kingdom, since there's no update for my region and ICS is pretty slow and laggy), i decided to use Nova Launcher, since allows to create shorcuts to certain activities (or settings) that usually you can access in the settings menu, mean i was looking for diferent settings actions and i found that there are in the factory mode, actions to an "SPenTestUI" and "S-Pen detection test", also in factory test there are actions for s-pen hovering and accuracy tests there was even a settings tab for some S-Pen options (i dont remember how was the activity shorcut called since i flashed another JB 4.1.1 official rom) so, my question is, there was planned a posibility to use a kind of special s-pen on tab 2? or maybe it was a feature that didn't get to the final product, or note 10.1 and tab 2 10.1 share the same ROM with just a little of things different?
by the way, sorry for my bad english
The S-Pen would never work on the Galaxy Tab 2, because it's some screen hardware involved that our tablets don't have : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34674186&postcount=18

yeah i know that, but what i mean is, was the s-pen a planned feature that didn't get it to the final product?, or maybe the note 10.1 and tab 2 10.1 share a similar system base (or even the same) or there was maybe a special pen for the tab, why are those activities there ??
Hardware problem

Hey everyone,
I was trying to add a caption to some of my photos, and all the free apps I tried out had a ton of ads and a terrible UI. So I wrote `Captioner!` which is free, got a nice UI (holo) and no ads even in the free version.
You can get it from Google Play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appaholics.captioner
There's a Pro version which allows you to make full size images (the images in the free version are downscaled to a mobile friendly size suitable for sharing on WhatsApp etc). The update which I'll be pushing out to the Pro version tonight will also allow you to change the font color etc.
There is no compulsion to buy the pro version. The free version does *everything* you'd need for day to day captions, at no cost.
Here's some screenshots
http://imgur.com/a/aQDzG
This is nice. Easy to use. Well done.

It's a great app - the only thing that would make it better would be the option to edit a picture within the photo viewer rather than having to open the app and then select the picture.

Hi All I owned a note and note two before thinking I wanted bigger and getting a z ultra.
The ultra turned out to be just too big to be practical so I now have a note 3 and am about to e bay the ultra.
But when I look at them side by side there are a lot of elements of the ultra that look much better than the note three. When they both have the same resolution, I want to make use of that resolution even if the fonts become small.
Particularly chrome seems to show pages much better laid out on the z ultra with much more info on a page. See that attached picture which shows that although the screen on the ultra is bigger it also has smaller fonts to fit way more on the screen.
I have switched the system font to "tiny" and am using nova launcher to fit more on teh desktop.
Any ideas how to get applications to behave in a more tablet like manner on the note three?
If you're rooted, I would suggest changing your Dpi to 360. Hugeeeee improvement for me!
no root and I am not keen to unfortunately. It breaks the barclays bank app and although some people have found a work around it never worked on my note 2 so I went back to stock.
Anything else I can do?
In that case, there isn't much you can do unfortunately as that's the only way to control scaling.
ok, thanks, I will consider it again.
that said if you look at the two screen shots it is not just scaling, the one on the experia z ultra looks like a tablet version of chrome and the one on the note 3 looks more like a mobile version. There is a menu button top right next to the tabs in the experia which isnt there on the note.
maybe that is to do with the soft keys on the xperia
if you change the DPI what does it do? it cant change the real dpi of the screen of course but does it scale absolutely everything to look smaller or bigger?
Do you need software to do it after root?
I have used an app called BuildProp Editor (from play store) to change the dpi of the device to 400 as I feel the stock DPI of 480 makes everything ridiculously big. Of course you need root for it to work, like has been said before.
If you want to activate tablet UI for some applications, what I do is install xposed framework from xda, and then install the App Settings xposed module. That allows you to set individual dpi for apps. You can also activate tablet UI for some apps by using that module.

Unfortunately app thumbnails appeared in 4.0, so it's not possible to see them prior to this version

I played a bit with this app today and I have to say that it is a very nice. And I only tried the free features . The only thing that makes me not to use this app is the ram consumption, over 100 mb.
OP if you can make it lighter it will be a really great switcher :thumbup:

The RAM consumption is mainly due to thumbnails saved in cache (= smoother app). I'll do my best to lower that number, or maybe add an option to let the user choose between using RAM cache or not?
Thanks for feedback :good:
[APP][4.0+] Fancy Switcher - Your new Task Switcher
Looks pretty good. I'm going to give it a try. Thanks
Hey I tried the free app and I would like to request some things:
1. transparent background like in stock switcher
2. Option to list the apps under each other instead of next to each other (also like in stock
3. Different position of clear and settings button. Like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
4. Option to disable app drawer icon
5. Notification icon: isn't there a way to just keep the notification and not the icon? The space is very ugly. Swipe home button for example lets you disable the icon and has just a message in the notification bar with no empty gap...
And then I have a question: what is the + symbol standing for when I pull the last app away from the screenside?

Well, thanks for suggestions
1. Planned for next release
2. Why not, I try to develop a different switcher compared to the stock one, but I'll think about it
3. Looks like you really like the stock switcher, don't you ?
4. That's a good request, but not an easy one... I'm definitely going to look into it
5. Consider it done for next release
And finally, the plus symbol let the user know he can swipe back to show other apps. Is it too much for you?

Well, I use swipe home button to get into stock switcher, that makes it better and faster than every other switcher out there. But your app look very cool and promising. And, what lacks the stock switcher, it's customisable. Yet it is still simple and elegant.
There are two reasons why I suggested to chance the button positions: first, I think that it would look more symmetric, and second is that they would be easier to reach. Especially on my note 3^^
Oh and I found a bug: when I re-enable the notification icon, the app crashes.
My device is btw SM-N9005 (international note 3 with snapdragon 800) running on android 4.4.2 kitkat samsung firmware (leak), cf-rooted and xposed framework installed.

This is absolutely right.
I think I can make only one simple button where you pointed out (the "close all" button), and leave the settings in the menu key, in a more android-way.
It's the first time I see this bug. It happens every time? I hope I will get a crash report from the Google developer console.

I can try to send a bug report.
Maybe you could do it (again like in stock switcher, lol) that you make a row of three buttons under the the switcher (in the position I pointed at on the screen) : task manager, settings, clear button.
I like it that you always can reach the settings from the switcher itself.
I also like the plus symbol, maybe you could make an option to enable/disable it, and also different themes (like only the plus symbol without the stuff around or the color or something like that) I already guessed that it stands for the gesture, but I wanted to be sure.
And what I really love is the animation of the clear button , it's really cool!
Edit: sent report

The report could really help fixing weird bug like that.
I'll set those buttons up in future release.
I love animations, I try to make all of them as beautiful and cool as I can . So if you have an awesome animation idea, let me know !

I have two ideas that maybe go too far:
First one: support of xhalofloatingwindow; that could be in different ways
1. Longpress on a thumbnail could open a menu like this:
2. The smart-slider option could open apps in xhalo windows.
The second one is even crazier;
First, take a look at this video:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/997cyp7ed4hn13d/SCR_20140115_032447.mp4
Now I imagine that when you do the gesture from the smart slider and then drag it up/down it could change between the running (and only the running) apps like in the video;
I made a quick drawing how it could look like (of course not so ugly xD)

Thanks for the awesome app switcher! :good:
I have one thing that bothers me, and prevents me from using it as my default switcher. I wish that when I don't have any apps open it would show an empty switcher. Sometimes it can be hard to differentiate between whats gray and whats not, and I like to have it this way just in case a friend or someone else is using the phone so they can't see my recently "closed" apps. I see from other post that you are working on some upcoming features in new releases , so just wondering if this is something that can be done.
Thanks
But other than that GREAT WORK. KEEP IT UP!!!!
Cool app. I got this basically for the swipe to switch to the previous app function but the RAM usage is too much. Is there a way to maybe have option not to use as a full task switcher but to only be used to switch back to the previous app only.
Nice idea! Well done!
How about other translations? I can do the German one
