[Q] HTC ONE m7 will not read sim - General Questions and Answers

I have an HTC ONE m7 that is about a year old and is rooted and running omni rom. It has been rooted for about 6 months and I had been running cyanogonmod and everything was running fine until last week when I got the dreaded sim card error. a restart of the phone did the trick. 2 days later it happened again and this time a restart did not work and my phone was out of commission for about 4 hours as I tried everything to fix it (including a full wipe of cyanogen and a fresh install with omni rom) with no success. Then one random time I restarted it popped back up and everything was fine. Now over the last few days it keeps giving me the sim error and only goes away after random amounts of time and restarts. If the error does go away and I have service. I get 4g LTE for about 10 minutes before I lose the ability to make any calls/texts or have any data connectivity. I have tried the scotch tape trick with no success as well as changing my APN. I'm sadly starting to think this may be a hardware issue.
As of yesterday I have found that my phone will now read the sim if it is cooled down. Meaning whenever it is even the slightest bit warm the phone will not read the sim at all but once I cool it down (laying it on top of an AC vent) the phone works as normal.
Any thoughts??

Randomly Turns off multiple times a day???

I have had my white Skyrocket just a day short of 1 week. Today is the first day it has just randomly shut off and three times so far. Has anyone else experienced this? I was talking on it for about an hour with 90% charge, ended the call, set it down, and picked it up 30 mins. later and it was off. When I woke up this morning I watched some Youtube, checked some emails, and 10 mins. later off again. I had to take out the battery and turn it on. I'm rooted with the ICS rom.
Try flashing the stock kernel and see if it persists.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Most likely it's the Kernel. Flash stock-ish kernel and that should fix the issue.
I will give that a try then.....thanks
Did it work?
I also have the same issue. Rooted with Sky ICS 2.3.6 and my phone just randomly turns off from time to time. I'll be use it and then it turns off and the power button doesn't work. Have to take it out of my Otter Box Defender case, take the battery cover off and pull the battery and put everything back together.
AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket
Sky ICS 2.3.6 ROM
CPU OC Kernel
YES! I'm on my 2nd SR, since release for same reason.
My first Skyrocket began repeatedly restarting, a few days after purchase. I thought I had the problem solved, after attributing the issue to an extra 16gb micro sd card, I took from my t-mobile Galaxy S 4G. But now my new Skyrocket, less than a week old, began the same **** 2 days ago - ALSO, after installing an extra 4gb card i had. WTF? The screen suddenly flashes white and the phone starts a continual process of restarting, until I'm able to get it to factory reset.
Well I flashed back to the "stockish" Kernal and i have not had a single random power off in over a week. Thanks.
I recommend using the CM7 + KA_G CM7 kernel. Its awesome. Way better then stock + I don't experience random sleep of death like I do with regular rom + DA_G overclock kernel.
Thanks for reply. It's been fine since my previous post, before which, it took 4 to 5 hours for me to get it to remain on, long enough to complete a factory reset.
Additionally, I'm wondering if downloading/installing "warez" for extended periods, most of which I'll just uninstal (tech addiction), could be reason for the shut downs??
I never had this problem with my first phone.
But my replacement phone has powered off a few times. It does have an SD card installed.
A couple times while unplugging/removing it from my car dock (3rd party charger). It just powers off. And I have to manually power it back on again.
And several times while plopping it lightly down on the table or pressing/holding the phone in a weird way.
Also once or twice while ending a phone call.
I'll prolly take it back soon. I'm outside of 30 days though, so I'm in no rush as I'll just get a refurbed phone I'm sure, and have to take my chances on getting one with a crap screen. While my current phone has a perfect screen (no vertical lines or blobs).
I've had the problem with custom ROM's, kernels and also on more than one reflash of stock ROM/Kernel.

Trade phones? Mine has lines, but it probably has the best hardware out of all skyrockets.
1.89GHz stable, no problems with any ROM's, no SoD problems, nothing.
?
JK lol, I love my phone. <3

[Q] Problems registering with network [SOLVED]

I have been having problems with my phone recently. I was previously running stock 2.1 rooted on Wind mobile. It had been working fine since I bought it in Dec 2010.
I seem to recall leaving my phone unplugged for a short amount of time (like a couple hours) and then when I picked it up the battery had been completely drained (while idle). I plugged it in and started it up after a bit and the battery was suddenly running super hot, and it would reboot quickly after starting. The only time it stayed on long enough to check the temperature I saw 57c. I left it to charge and came back and the battery temperature seemed to be normal again.
However now since then I have been having a lot of trouble registering to the Wind network. Half the time it is showing as roaming, or cannot connect at all. Sometimes, like as I am typing this, it will show that I am connected to the home zone. I can make calls now, but I cannot receive any. I have flashed the phone to CM7.2, and initially the phone worked but the next day it started having the registration problem again.
I tried the SIM card on another phone and it worked. Anyone have any suggestions?
Or you got fryed your phone module.. or fryed sim card.
First of all i'll recommend to replace or try another sim.
Just a little update...
It seems to have been working better in the past week, I could connect properly 90% of the time, but couldn't sent any text messages.
I went to replace my SIM card at the store, they gave me a new one and now it seems to be working 100% fine. So I guess the sim card was the problem.
Something to note is that the sim card was the original one I got when I signed up, and my permanent normal number wasn't on the card, only the temporary one assigned to me for the first day. So that may have been causing the problems I started having.

strange sim card issue One XL

Searched for last couple hours, no avail. htc one xl evita. recently flashed 4.2.2 ruu (5.18.502) downloaded from htc sight directly. flashed just fine. phone booted up fine. it is att branded, but I am using it on straight talk with the att version sim card. this has worked just fine for couple years on my old one x that died. and worked on this one xl for a week no problem. the phone did have issues with battery level not showing correct, as it showed 99% all the time. but everything else worked fine so left it alone. after about a week tho, the phone made a strange squeak sound and shut off. rebooted no prob, but got hot fast and as it connected to network, it died again, this time battery "dead". I have done factory reset, wiped the cache, triple checked apn settings, reflashed ruu, but no help. the sim works fine in an older, 3g phone. and my one xl operates perfect without the sim. wifi is great. no battery or charging issues at all. but as soon as I put the sim in, and it connects, phone dies, as well as battery, as i have to plug it in for a few minutes to get it to reboot. every time it reboots tho, the battery goes back to showing 99% charge no matter what.
the ruu stated it was for the one x evita, but my understanding is evita is the one xl, so im assuming htc site gave me the right one. everything worked great for aweek, and now its jacked.
any help, ideas, tricks...??

Takes forever to get connection but not with EE card.

Hi, my mom bought OnePlus One from ebay.co.uk. Phone had one problem - it doesn't pick up any network. We took it to the repair and they repaired it for 45 pounds (they showed us that phones gets connection with EE maybe after 5 minutes when phone turns on). We got home, got inside 3 networks SIM card into the phone. Firstly, it just showed ''No Service'' so we waited a we minutes - no result. Then we restarted the phone and waited 30 minutes - it worked! Okay, we thought everything gonna be ok. So we got outside, and phone just freezed and I had to restart it. But then connection is just doesn't appear anymore. It just shows ''No Service'', what can we do about it?
Okay, now after those flashings I can't get any connection even with EE card it just shows EE card. I reverted the phone back to stock, and then tried to flash OxygenOS using this tutorial http://oxygenos.oneplus.net/Flashing+instructions+for+Windows.pdf I will tell if it works. But I searched on internet a little bit more and I founded that some people tries to fix that problem with modem flashing? But I can't find a normal modem for OxygenOS or stock CM13 on OPO.
Oh, and there's a strange with going on. Voicemail just won't go away from that time when we got phone from repair. If you swipe it out it will went back after some time....

Help with 7Pro connection issues

Hello guys. I'm at my wits end and looking for some help.
I bought a new still sealed in the box Oneplus 7 pro off ebay back in April. Bad idea I know. Everything has been fine up until earlier this month when I started to notice that often times when I looked at my phone it would have no signal. After a few minutes it would reconnect automatically. I thought it was Straight Talk at first but it started to happen more and more frequently, and eventually it no longer would reconnect on its own. Since I was frustrated with the service I was getting with Straight Talk I switched to Verizon and the problem persisted. The phone will work fine for 10min, an hour, or half the day. Suddenly it will completely lose all signal. I've tried turning data on and off in the quick settings, or removing the sim card and reinserting and neither will not work. The only sure way to get the data back on is I either have to restart the phone, or turn the data on and off in the dialer diagnostic menu. Those are the only 2 ways to always get the data back on. After it comes back on it will work for several minutes to half the day before losing connection again.
Im currently running 10.3.3, but before this I was on 10.3.1 and had the same issue. I have reset the phone countless times, reinstalled the OS multiple times, tried different network types in the diagnostic menu and nothing works. I don't believe its a hardware issue because switching the data on and off in the diagnostic menu always works.
Does anyone have any clue whats wrong and what I should do? Thanks in advance.

at this point, you could try the opened beta https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/beta-15-rolling-t4114211. you could also try a different kernel to see if that helps.
I finally got off the stable and updated to the beta and the problem persist. Is there like a baseband firmware that I can flash that will upgrade the radio in the phone? Maybe that would work.

I had that happen to me with an old device when I would select LTE only on my device. Have you tried changing the band from 2/3/4 G to only 2/3 G. This is not a solution to correct your problem, only a test to determine if your signal will remain constant.
Also, since your got the phone BNIB may need to contact 1+ support directly, as I believe you should be within the 1 year manufacturer warranty.
