Rogers SGH-1727R - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hey guys a little help please. My phone is giving problems and I want to root and install a custom ROM. I have experience with this and I'm not a noob. I was just wondering that I have the Rogers version SGH-I727R. I'm running official jellybean 4.1.2. How can I root and which ROMS can I install?

It's all here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652398

Flash Noob

I have a rooted skyrocket, with touch clockworkmod, and i was wondering. If i were to flash a rom onto my skyrocket, and i decided to return to stock, can i still flash it using cwm or must i use odin? I saw a thread earlier informing to use odin to get back to stock, but im just making sure its ok that i use cwm instead thanks. Sorry again, im a noob
Cwm will stay on your phone. Just use a rom thats rooted. (If it doesnt say its not then it surely is) all will be well.

ty, (i used up my alotment of thanks button) ya it took me awhile, i was really tired of the same probs and queation users where having, how to odin, which cwm to use, how to root etc, so i got fed up of rewriting the same answers, made a post, i kept adding to it and the mod made it a sticky to replace the other outdated stickies
the rom i was referring to is {STOCK} {ICS} {UCLF6} {4.0.4} - CWM5 ZIP - DeOdexed - ZipAligned - 10-JUL-2012 , its not rooted but is cwm flashable

if the dev of the rom says its ok to use rom manager, fine, but if you are having problems w/said rom dont go trying to find solutions if your first problem was using rom manager, you just wont know if thats the cause or not.
cwm is your friend, its easy to use, and gives you the user the the power of android........yes i said it , i almost wrote the power of grey skull(heman quote)

U can use rom manager but problems are much more likely. I recommend doing any cwm activities from within cwm itself. I flashed for the first time 1 month ago and I fully understand where u are coming from. It may look intimidating but once u start it is quite simple

[Q] I need help running T-Mobile GS2 roms on my Skyrocket.

OK so I came across a thread that said you would be able to run T-Mobile gs2 roms on skyrockets and I wanted to test it because I love the roms on the T-Mobile gs2. I grabbed the conversation file that the thread provided and I got the T-Mobile gs2 I wanted and began the process. I backed up my current rom and then wiped every thing. I flashed the rom and then the conversion file like it said. I rebooted the phone and it just sat at the Samsung boot screen. I thought it was normal so I left it there for a while and came back and it was still stuck there. Can the skyrocket really run T-Mobile gs2 roms? Did I do anything wrong in my process? I was able to restore to my previous rom so I'm not freaking out, but I really want to run the rom I found. Is there anyone that can help me? Please and thanks in advance.

Simple answer, you are flashing a TW based conversion kit to an AOKp based rom. Just use an AOSP, CM10 and alike kernel to that rom and you should be good.
Disclaimer: do this at your own risk.

Rooted Phone and New Update Push ICS

Hi All,
I am a Newb, but have basic knowledge. So I rooted my phone but left the standard OS on the phone. It's Rogers Galaxy S2 LTE (Skyrocket) version. So now there's a new OS update. So on the phone I downloaded the update and the phone reboots to CWMR once rebooted. I don't know what to select in that menu? Anyhow have any ideas. The update does not install.
thanks
You need to be stock to receive updates. You need stock recovery

What version of ICS are you running? To take the update you need the stock recovery of the version of ICS you are running. Or you can flash the new jb official rogers rom that is listed in the dev thread via cwmr. Check out mohans thread

You can't update with a modified recovery. I'd highly recommend checking out a ROM from one of our devs instead instead of just going through stock updates, you already have the recovery and root in.
And don't worry about the guy above

I'd say this is the safest thing. A rom made by the manufacturer who, logically, should know better about their own device than a community of voulenteer developers. It's rooted, official and has everything you need and more.
It's the same rom you got via OTA/Kies but repacked for CWM. :victory:

Does anyone know where I can download the new Samsung Rom for Rogers? I would like to install it. I currently have 4.0.4 installed.
Unless someone recommends to install the CM10 instead...I just don't want to have to keep installing new ROMS. I want something stable.
PS: Thanks for everyone's help!
