Hi
My Sensation is having problems with the WIFI in my home. When I visit other people and use their WIFI I dont experience the same issues, which leads me to believe that it is an issue with my router.
The problem is that I have to turn the wireless off and on again on the phone a few times a day, because it suddenly doesnt work. When it happens the phone shows full WIFI bars and tells me that it is connected, but it doesnt work. But after turning it off and on, it always works again.
I have tried changing the channel to 11 in the router but that hasnt helped. Is there a solution to this very annoying issue?

Besides obviously getting another router, have you tried removing the wifi connection from your list, reboot and then adding the wifi back on like a new connection? Besides not knowing your current setup (what rom you are on, if any) and when you select menu to bring up the advanced menu, is the 'avoid poor connections selected' or available as an option? Also is there a wi-fi frequency band option? If so make sure you have auto ticked off.

Im on stock 4.03.
I have now tried your suggestions. Removed the wifi connection, rebooted and reconnected. I will let you know how that turned out.
I dont have any of the options in the wifi menu that you mention, however I do have the option of using a static IP, would that maybe help?
I still have that issue when on ICS 4.0.3/4 Sense 4. But not Sense 3.5/6 and Jellybean. I put out a logcat but they told me to use WiFIX but that never did me anything. They also told my my security on my router WPA/WPA2 is not supported well in Sense 4 or something. I'm just patiently waiting for someone to help me with that same problem so I can try ICS stock and Sense 4.

Any change? As for the static IP, I wouldn't mess with it unless you know what you are doing in that respect.

It still doesnt work...
My new idea is that it could be something to do with the router. According to some threads ive across the phone doesnt like wireless n networks and wpa/wpa2 security. I think my router is setup with those two things. I guess I will try changing that. If that doesnt help maybe setting up a static IP would be worth a try

I would change my security but I have about 10+ devices connected in the household and once you change it they don't reconnect; you have to re-enter the password and everything. The downside in my household at the moment. But as for the StaticIP. I wouldn't mind doing that to be honest. Let me know how these two options work out for you because I might make a change to my router settings if one of these works out.
I had the same problem after upgrading to ICS. It seems that even if you have set your ip to static it still wont connect to the internet. This is because there is no option to change the subnet mask address from the usual static ip config. Try installing any DNS setting tool to your phone and check the setting on your ip again. Hope this helps.
Hi there
P6200 WiFi+3G
So I installed the new official release for Open Austria JB 4.1.2 but I am having a BIG annoying problem with WiFi :/
I tried to connect to my router which is WPA2/PSK secured but it just doesn't wanna connect! stuck on connecting then "saved" and nothing happens!
I've tried everything and every method:
wipe data/factory reset
re-flash
rebooting both my router and the tablet
changing my router's security to WPA,WEP and OPEN
It used to work just fine with Aorth's port of CyanogenMod 10 but I wanna use the official release!
Any help appreciated, thank you
P.S: I solved the issue by ignoring the feature and using this workaround found HERE
my wifi is working fine
maybe at one time i also had the same problem. i restarted my router and it was solved. now it is working fine.
Maybe country code is not set correctly , was a problem with me before, malaysian tab in US, search WiFix manager in PlayStore. Also wifi Connection Manager free by roamingsoft is a good app to get you connected and stay connected.
Also check your router to make sure you are on a channel that not many other people are, for less interference. Good luck. Wifi has been working without issues for me on JB.

I think that the only possible solution to get the wifi drivers from HC 3.2 stock rom or from any other p6200 working rom.
If someone could help me with that, I would really appreciate it
if wifispot is not visible then try to change chanel on router i had similar problem on stock ics only chanels 1-6 was visible idk
I have tried to change the channel to 11 and also changed SSID to a short one but still same results.
I have got this message too: "authentication error occurred"
The weird thing that when I made my network set to OPEN, I got this message!

I too have the same problem !!!
The European version is JB is the XXMC3, .... but I'm in Italy! and the wifi does not work, and it worked perfectly with ICS.
I think the problem is similar to that of the Galaxy Note 2, but I do not know comne solve it.
I tried to do all the wipe, but nothing to do. Can anyone help me?
same problem here works with SOME routers but mostly it just says "saved, secured" or just authentication problem on open wifi
tried format / factory setting, reflash nothing works
had the same problem with 4.0.4 but it went away for some reason after a while
I have same problem

I have same problem with My Galaxy Tab P6200.
When I connect to a fine wifi : "type password -> authentication -> obtaining ip address -> Connected"
With my wifi when I typed password it's say: "saved, secured" and no wifi icon.
I have an ADSL router and connect to wifi router, wifi router like a bridge network, so DHCP in wifi router is disabled.

sounds like a UK vs US problem in the setup on your device. Try changing the wireless AP channel to channel 1 or 2 and see if that fixes it. If so, that is the problem. In UK mode, it won;t see wireless channels above 6

have experienced the same problem before, problem not with your tab but your router (something to do with router not able to automatically adjust or identify your tab after the upgrade and detecting a conflict), try going to your tab advanced wifi settings, select static i.p. address and input manually your tab i.p. hope this solves your problem
Im having the exact same problem that the OP had. Was a solution ever found, other than flashing another ROM? Id like to keep the factory JB but no wifi is a big problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
How do I change the channel on my router to 2? I havent tried that yet.

I have no idea what is going on and tried many suggested fixes like forgetting and reconnecting, resetting router, i even did a factory reset for my phone and tried few apps on the play store. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks so much for your time:crying:

Can you connect to any other wifi network?
If yes, then there is a problem with your home wifi router.
If no, then there is a problem with your phone.
EDIT: After a bit of searching, i came up with this,
Your wireless network may need to have your devices mac address before it can recognize and grant wifi access to that device. It turns out you need to add the mac address to your router so that it can let the device associated with the mac address connect to the network. If you don't know how to do this, or can't find another solution, call your network provider for assistance. They should be able to help you out. I cannot tell you how to fix your problem because I don't know (and don't want to know lol) your router address / IP address and password.

Hi guys,
Since a few days I have started facing a strange problem with my OnePlus. As soon as I connect to my home wi-fi the whole network slows down. The latency also goes for a toss. Packets start getting lost. I checked this extensively by monitoring packets and network on my laptop. What kind of problem is this? Can anyone help me with resolving this?
Regards.

No, not yet. Moreover, because of people's suggestions I reset my router to factory default and am now unable to configure it properly with my Airtel connection. I have been trying to configure it all evening, but to no avail. So now using original Airtel wired modem. Basically, I'm f****d up.
Will call Airtel engineer tomorrow.

Did you manage to resolve your wifi problem?
I bought the Moto G (2015) 2GB RAM / 16GB ROM for my wife and she's having problems with the home wifi. It often says there is a "connection error" and loops to try to connect again and then fails. Her work wifi seems to function ok.
Having read about similar problems with older moto gs, people recommended (1) turning on and off airplane mode. (2) changing channel number of router.
Both sometimes work and sometimes don't. But it's not really a permanent solution. I'm a bit reluctant to do a factory reset and reinstall everything if it won't resolve the problem. The device came with the latest firmware already installed (5.1.1) and I haven't rooted or unlocked bootloader so should be a pretty clean install.
Anyway, would like to hear that factory reseting could resolve this issue or not before trying.
Thanks for any advice!
Mine does it every now and then. I just unplug my router, wait a minute, plug it back in, and then it connects.

Yes. It works for me too. But what happens if you're on a public or work wifi where you can't reset the router? It doesn't really seem like a long term solution.
Is this a standard problem with this phone? Anyone else have a similar problem or preferably a solution?

Yeah resetting other than home router is not the answer. It's an Android issue as all my phones do it from time to time. I haven't been able to figure it out. The other "fix" if you can't reset the router is try going into the Wi-Fi settings, and forget the network/name, and then add it back as new. It takes longer, but it could work for you. That's how I get around it when connecting to work when it won't auto connect.
Hi, I had also faced the same problem with a open wifi network which is free for 15 mins ..
Other than that one ..i had every router connected to my phone..
I was thinking the problem is not in your phone.. It's in router which might be old
Because old routers will have 802 a or something which are in compatible to some phones..
Or the router is not allowing your phone to get connected.. As your phone is latest and it has advanced protocols inscribed in it..
Do one thing.. Shed some light on this now :
1) router model (if known to you)
2) phone models which got connected to that router and it's operating system version (like 5.1.1)
And there is also one more point.. I found our phone might find problems connecting to 5ghz band router ..while it works fine for smaller routers like 2.4ghz
We can decide when you dig some info about the questions I mentioned...
We will get answers
Just turn off wifi and then turn it on it will fix the problem

You would think it would be that simple, but it's not. It just sits there "Connecting", then nothing, then "Connecting". Keeps cycling like that.

My router is a netgear CG3100Dv3 (using WPA2-PSK [AES] encryption) and uses 2.4 GHz. I don't think it's the router's fault though because I've had many friends connect with a variety of phones and none of them have had the problem before. I currently have a Oneplus One (android 5.0.2) and have used a Nexus 4 and Samsung Galaxy S (1) on this router without problems. Maybe it's a problem with android 5.1.1 as I guess not many of my friends have it yet. I've written to motorola support but they still havent got back to me.

Strange. I've never had a problem before with wifi. Maybe I've been lucky until now. Yep - have tried forgetting and reconnecting to wifi signal. Again, a temporary solution that will quickly become irritating when there shouldn't really be a problem for such a simple operation.

It's a temporary solution but a pain in the arse if you have to reset the router every few hours. And as I said before, what happens when you can't connect to a router which you can't reset? (i.e. public, work)
Change the router's channel, then refresh the wifi in the phone.

Firstly i agree that our Moto G has some kind of issue with some routers.. but there will be solutions for them from the ROUTERS POINT OF SIDE to make it work
i have read about your router .. Things i suggest (if you have already done them then let me know )
1) your router has option to change MODE to get speeds more than 150mbps.. try changing that 802.11 MODE , restart your Phone and Router and also keep CHANNEL to AUTO , try changing the security WPA to others also..
2) your Wifi of your phone will have a MAC address , copy that and paste in your Router to allow this device..
i am still finding info on your problem..
the reason why i think your Router can solve the problem is : i had once read about 802.11 b/g/n/ac types.. i am getting a doubt that they are the ones causing the problem.. if you are aware of it
have a look at this bro once : http://www.smartmobilephonesolutions.com/content/cant-connect-to-wifi-on-android-smartphone
in this he said that Wifi fix apps can solve the easy problems..:highfive: , hope you find solution

Ok. Will change channel to auto mode. It was already on "up to 300 Mbps". Will also put MAC addresss in the router.
However this still relies on having access to the router. What happens when you don't have access. If this is going to happen on many routers then I prefer to return the phone and buy one which never has this problem.

I'll give a wifi fix app a go to. But they just seem to automatically delete known wifi SSIDs and passwords.
Another option would be to root and install new ROM and radio, but would prefer not to.
It seems like a lot of Nexus 5 users on 5.1.1 are having wifi problems too:

Just a quick update if there is anyone else reading this thread with a similar problem.
I changed the channel mode to auto and that has seemed to fix the problem. The moto g seems to connect without problems now. I didn't enter the MAC address nor used a "wifi fix" app so far.
Fingers crossed...
I have the same problem. Wifi just stops working and had a ! Symbol beside the wifi icon. I have probably had a 100 phones and devices connected to this router without a problem. I have changed a bunch of settings the router and it didn't help.
Disabling wifi off then on works, but that is no solution. I will try anther Rom or kernel. I am on resurrection 5.1.1

My problem was slightly different in that the phone wouldn't even connect to the wifi signal. It would cycle continuously between "connecting" and "authentication error".

Thanks for your help! I'm still a little wary that the phone will have problems in the future on other routers, but it's a good enough fix for now. Hopefully a later firmware update will sort it out.
Unfortunately, my wife took the moto g on a business trip last week and could not connect to any wifi signals (her colleagues did not have a problem).
Not sure what to do now. I'm in contact with motorola support but they don't have any suggestions yet (apart from blaming the router - which has never had a problem with any other devices!)
