Almost Any HTC phone under 200 $. They have great camera's.

Might want to do a little more research. But I can tell you this.. if you want a good camra on your phone make sure it has 2 LED flashes other wise its Garbage.. mega pixels aren't the only thing you need to look for.

You should go for Sony or HTC phones

What phone??? XL, EVO, RazR, SGS2, Galaxy Nexus.

Hi all,
Looking to get a new contract and i'm torn, i actually work as tech support in a phone shop and i'm stumped as to what to pick, I'm a big fan of sense but I'm an eye out, the razr for example is a lovely looking phone but it's senseless and it is a motorola, i've heard bad things about them.
The XL is a beast but it's only single core, i love the size, it's perfect for me and the screen is very vibrant plus it has snazzy headphones.
The evo is everything i want but it's a little small, i know the screen size isn't tiny but next to the xl it is, an xl evo hybrid would be magic.
The SGS2 is hardware wise a decent phone but again i'm not a fan of senseless phones.
And finally the Galaxy Nexus, one of my colleagues has it and it's a gorgeous looking phone, it does everything very well and it hides the fact that it's senseless very well.
I may go for this, but I can only get it on the three network were i am plus i wouldn't be able to get it today, as i don't have my ID.
I'm using the Lumia at the moment and it's a lovely phone but the lack of apps and the restrictions, the price of the apps, the whole experience is being hindered by these limitations.
anyone with experience of these phones, hands on or if they have them, what would you decide on?
Are there any phones in the near future which i should hold out for?
Any help would be good.
Cheers.
I think that you should buy the SGS2.
not getting this sorry... according to your sig you own already 2 htc devices where the sensation is quite new and not much of adifference to the sgs2. would either pick the galaxy nexus or wait for the s3.
My priority list for fones--
1.)Galaxy Nexus (for sure)
2.)SgS2 + 2000mAh battery(will get ICS later on, but i am patient enough for that)
3.)XL (size is downside for me coz i Have BuTTerFingers

If the razr had ics i would switch over to verizon in a heart beat. Phone looks so niceeee and has.good specs as well.

from ur selection i really would go with either the galaxy s2 or galaxy nexus and since im a vanilla lover id def go with the galaxy nexus ...nexus phones ftw.
go mess with the phones at the store and decide for yourself. threads like this are pointless, imho. each device will have its fanboys and haters.
all i can say is galaxy nexus looks superior to others for now. wait a few months and something better will drop, dropping its value to 300-400 bucks.
Galaxy S2
Why?
The most powerful GPU
Best camera
Great battery
Fast UI that NEVER lags
Super lite and thin
Brilliant display.
You're a veteran of three HTC devices, so I wouldn't even look at the Evo or XL. Razr... Motorola... bleh.
Go for GN or SGS2. In that order.

I'd go for the GN for the updates.
yeah, other phones get it... eventually, but with a Nexus phone, you'll always be up to date, months in advance of everyone else.
plus phone looks great... not too crazy about the build quality as it's a Samsung phone but, nice design non the less.
5mp vs. 8mp... mp don't mean crap. what's more important is the sensor. (have not tried out the GN's camera to comment. just stating in general)
don't buy into the Beats Audio nonsense. it's pure marketing. better headphones/EQ settings out on the market.
Dare I suggest either the note (friend has one and it is huge) or wait until ces / mwc
Or get the nexus

Shame on you,
It does not have the most powerful GPU, iPhone 4S and the iPad2 have the most powerful GPU. It doesn't have the best camera, two of my friends own SGS2 and after a month or two they both experienced a lot of UI slowdowns and lagging. Surely there is a point of being too thin also considering it is made of cheap plastic? Loving the ancient WVGA display!
I'd probably go for the Razr it looks lovely!

Did the PW ask about an iPhone or iPad???
In terms of overall Pic quality/video quality the GS2 is the best in the PW's list.
Majority of users and reviewers will tell you the GS2 hardly slows down, its the one high end Android that can be compared to iPhone4S and WP7 phones in terms of a UI thats fast and smooth.
If it was cheap plastic there would be tons of complaints of back covers breaking, screens cracking, plastic quickly chipping etc...all over the web, and the press would be all over it, yet wait...theres none of that.
The "ancient" WVGA display has been praised due to the Super AMOLED Plus tech it uses, and is up there with the Retina display.

Are you kidding, I've done first hand comparisons to the Evo's cameras to the iPhone4 and the iPad2 and the Evo killed them easily.
The SGS2 cam is slightly better than the Evo (again first hand experience) more accurately detects lighting conditions on auto.
The Sensation camera is slightly better than the SGS2 (firsthand) capturing colors better on auto. I do love its camera button, pressure sensitive.
I haven't used the other phones so..
The cameras specs do not make it a good camera if it can capture in 1080p but its blurred, wrong exposure, colors over/under saturated, etc...
But the phones aren't all about the camera. Depending on what you want from it you need to consider how well it would be supported. What kind of accessory items will be available, like car/desk docks. If your a flashaholic then look at what phone threads get the most active developments.
My 2 cents

[Q] Big dilemma on which one to buy. Galaxy S3 or One X?

The time has come to sell the best phone ever (HTC HD2) and i will be selling it only because i am not happy with the camera photos and videos quality otherwise the phone is still awesome especially with miui android roms.
I read & watched all the reviews of both htc one x & galaxy s3 but i have a big dilemma and i hope you will help me decide which one to choose. What i like on htc one x is the awesome display that produces correct colours but i don't like the camera quality in videos and the noise in the photos. On galaxy s3 i like everything expect the display which is worrying me because of the pen tile problem with whites that look like blue or purple and the lower ppi density.
I don't care about benchmarks, battery life, user interface and all this things because i know that the custom roms will fix problems on both phones at some time.
My questions are:
1. If a buy htc one x is there a possibility in the future with a custom rom the camera match the quality of galaxy s3 both in video (higher bit rate and fps) and pictures (not so much noise)?
2. If i go for galaxy s3 will the developers manage to fix the display colours a bit or it's something that can't be fixed because of the pen tile technology?
Please don't answer me like an htc one x or a galaxy s3 fan i guess my questions are more related to the developers
buy the galaxy s3 . I am a proud owner of the phone . Its really very good . You will love it .
From what I heard, you can go into the Settings/Display/Screen Mode and change it around to help with the color problem on the amoled.
As far as the pentile/non pentile screen goes. When you get to dealing with such a high ppi (<300) it is physically impossible to see any pixels. Remember apples advertisement for the retina display. You literally have to have a microscope to tell the difference.
The amoled on the sgs3 will look better at angels and also consume less power. (Go to battery settings and see what takes up most your juice. so the screen taking less power is a huge bonus)
Also, touchwiz is more stable than sense. Not as flashy and good looking, but more reliable and faster.
im in the same dilemma
Galaxy S3

1.the fps rate on hox cannot be repaired with a software update ,as it goes down to the cpu. Ie hox will always have lower fps during video recording.
2.there is no problem in s3 regarding the display until you compare it with hox,and yes hox has better display by a slight difference.
And there is no problem in s3's screen its great , again if you dont keep s3 side by side to hox.
Im going for s3 ,get the one which matches your requirements.

I faced the same issue, what could possibly replace the hd2? I went for s3 due to removable battery and expandable storage. Screen is amazing, I've not had any of the pink screen tint, it's got really good viewing angles. I'm also on day 2 from a full charge!

I would go for Galaxy S 3. Has better battery life, amazing display, design-wise I also like it more than HTC One X...
im in the same dilemma 2, but:
i will go for S3. we can use USB OTG officially,we can use MicroSD and more storage
NO DOUBT!!!!
I had an HTC one X ... sold it to my brother and now I am at S3...
I didn't see ANY advantage of HTC one X (except for the Sense4) !!!
FOR S3:
- Better battery (almost 80% more using time after installation of stock rom)
- Better video recording
- Display quite the same
- Can change battery (for me it is essencial, change battery after 2 years or have an extra with me...)
- Option to put external micro SD
- Bigger display (almost the same)
- Display quality almost the same.
- Will be more easy to put jeally beam (Sense 4 will be a block for Jeally bean).
- More reponsive

There already exists a camera mod for one x which enhances it a lot and u can even take larger size images
If u want better screen, love sense and tegra gaming go for one x
There is very good developer support for one x, it even got working cm10 jellybean ROM before s3

I would go for S3, because I like Samsung in general (own a Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus) and from those reviews that I've seen the camera is much better on S3 as apposed to HTC One X. Also there the battery is replaceable on S3, which allows you to use extended batteries, when on HTC One X you can get battery cases. The last one is more of your own preference, but a lot of people get picky here and dislike the internal battery solution on HTC One X that requires you to take it to service if you ever need to replace battery.

S3 ...
There is no dilemma, go for Galaxy S3. A phone with proof of regrets.
Galaxy S3. The Dual core A15 in the S3 has about 20-40% single threaded performance improvement over the Tegra 3 (T30) in HTC one X.
Also the custom rom support for the Galaxy series of devices is also excellent. Not sure if it makes a difference for you or not, but I would consider that a solid plus for the S3.
The phone has excellent battery life, a great screen and very good performance. Not to mention it is very well supported.
BTW - I am assuming this is the US version of Galaxy S3. If you are talking about the international version, the performance would be about the same. But the rest of the advantages will still hold.

Really depends what you're looking for, and a bit hard to tell since the samsung ativ hasn't really had alot of coverage.
Im going for the 820, as it looks like it's going to be the right size for me, and at a fairly good price, for what it brings.
And i love the design/toughness that the phone seems to have.

Remember the ATIV S (stupid name BTW - my friends call it the "Eighty-Four-Ess") has a couple advantages like a removable battery and bigger screen with more ppi. I still like the looks of the Lumia better though.... and the colors of course.
I fully agree with you MasterDBA, the Lumia 820 (217 ppi) has really poor ppi: less than my old Touch HD (244 ppi)!!!
But the looks and colors of the Lumia are by far fancier.
Actually, I don't think you can really compare the L820 with the 84S p) as they are not targeting the same market...

Ah sweet, can you give us your thoughts on it when you have had time to get used to it as I have one on order, should get it sometime next week
Nice enough, totally destroys my 4s for dataspeeds
at home 4s 3 to 7mbps, 820 10 to 17mbps
Gmail push email is slow, average 5 minute delay (I assume a update will cure that)
battery life is about the same as a 4s
The UI is well nice a fast, in app fluidity is nice too.
There is only one volume level for everything which a bit of a pita.
As expected there is the app level gap, but there are workarounds
I like how once you email contacts, FB and twitter are setup its all linked up so I can see whats going on without having to use many separate apps.
still feels a little beta, very very late beta, very close to gold.
Nice thanks I'm coming from a Sony Xperia s so hopefully the battery can't be as bad as that.

Have had my Lumia 820 for 3days now and although I prefer it's performance to my Lumia 900 I have managed to run it out 3 times, So I hope now that the battery level starts to improve, Under moderate usage I struggle to get through a day, That's with 2 Email accounts synced every hour, Location on, Only a weather app running in background and screen sensitivity normal,Then again I guess that's why they introduced wireless charging lol, In the long run I really hope a firmware update can fix this issue, Similar to the fixes for the Lumia 800 earlier in the year, Compared to my Lumia 900 the 900 has a slight edge where battery life is concerned, Maybe a higher capacity battery will help but nothing is available this early not even the original Nokia Batteries, Am now thinking I should have waited for the 920 :crying:
I found the GMail syncing to be plain awful
It would stop doing push email after 20 minutes and then email retrieval was sketchy at best
I returned mine for a full refund.
How is the voice call quality with speakerphone and regular holding-up-to-your-ear?
Phonearena gave a poor review based on call quality http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Nokia-Lumia-820-Review_id3188/page/4
But I'd rather hear from real users who know what they're talking about. In the store you aren't really allowed to properly test out the phones.
The quality is as good if not tad better than my Lumia 900 but the volume needs to be cranked up higher specially in the speaker phone mode.
Imho, since the 820 is being sold as a mid range phone, the reviewers are determined to find compromises overlooking the fact that spec wise other than the camera and the screen, same as the 920.

I agree, I got my 820 yesterday and there's absolutely nothing wrong with the voice quality. Everything about the phone is great, especially not being a "flagship" device. I'm using my One X over WiFi to type this just because the XDA app is better on android...hint hint XDA devs, since WP8 is suppose to be easier to dev for, how about a better (and free) XDA app? Just a suggestion, I don't know coding so I'm not going to ***** and moan to much about it.

My wife just picked up the 820 at the ATT store today. ATT is running unadvertised special on all 3 of their winphones in the store until Sunday evening:
Nokia 820 $0 with 2-year contract
Nokia 920 $49.99 with 2-year contract + free wireless charging plate
HTC 8x 16GB $149.99 with 2-year contract
So basically $50 less per phone compared to their website. No special offers for 1-year contract or retail pricing.
Just setting up the 820 - disabled NFC and the high-sensitivity touch screen setting (for gloves) both of which suck extra battery. Otherwise its good to go out of the box.

You wouldn't even notice the ppi if you didn't read the specs. The images is sharp and the colors are magnificent, the blacks are deep, better than on the 920. Colour-wise the 820 has the best screen ever. And it also comes with super-sensitive touch, wireless charging and Nokia apps.
Meanwhile the ATIV S offers a huge screen, cheap plastic body... and that's it.

i expect good and sincere help cause i love xda
*EDIT* and one more question what can be the price of used 808 as i have no idea at all about its resale

Haven't you answered your own question???
Questions should go to the proper forum section, but we have camera discussions here too.
With that said, not to leave you without an answer, the PureView 808 is obviously the best camera phone on the market. The good news about the GS4 is however that it does awesome good light photos which at 13MPs are good for digital zooming or later cutting which is usually a problem with phones (no optical zoom). The bad news is that, despite improving tremendously, absolute dark shots are still problematic, and if half your shots are taken during nights or very limited lights, the Lumia 920 is the one to choose. If 80% of your shots are taken in low but not dark conditions, average lights and ideal scenery, the GS4 is an excellent all-around performer for a phone.
But you can judge the quality for yourself over this thread:

price of a used around 320-350$ for now

pls suggest me. i will not go for 920 cause windows phone sucks! well, Symbian sucks ever worse but its camera is comparable to DSLRs so im asking just to confirm from u guys.

No, its not comparable to a DSLR, but its much better then the S3/S4 and all the other phones. If you want a good low light phone, go for the 808/920 or htc one.
But if you want to shoot REALLY NICE pictures, you should get a dslr.
For example the Sony Alpha 57: currently avaible for 440€ in Germany. The supplied objective is ok but you can improve the quality with an alternative one.
All the phones avaible ARE NOT WORTH COMPARING WITH A GOOD DSLR!
None. If you are going on a trip, you should get a DSLR.

I am sure you have never handled a DSLR. Don't spread FUD here.

and here,
http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_808_pureview_low_light-review-775.php
it is said that, "The Nokia 808 PureView is on its march to becoming iconic, trashing the Olympus PEN E-PL2 Micro Four Thirds camera in our blind test and then matching the Canon 5D Mark III for resolution in the process."

Technically, Olympus E-PL2 is not a DSLR. It's a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera.
And "Micro Four Thirds" should have told you the size of the sensor. Compare this to a size of a typical APS-C sensor.
If I am looking to take photos, I would rather get a typical DSLR.
Matching 5D Mark III in photography? I would better ask the editor to get his eyes checked. 808 is neither good phone, not a good camera. It's much better than typical mobile camera, but can't be compared to a good DSLR. It even worse than a point n shoot like RX100.
I don't need photography lessons from blind test in GSMArena.
808 is comparable to my 5D mark III? Please. I'll advise you to stick with your current phone and get something like Canon 650D or 60D.

If you just want the best camera but not the window phone based phone, why not try HTC One which owns the ultrapixal camera. But note that the best camera on smartphone is still the pureview camera on Nokia Lumia 920. And the windows phone system don't sucks like what you imagined.

If 2 micron is ultrapilxel, what do you call a 5 micron? Elephant-pixel or dragon-pixel?
I wonder if you know that even a 6 year old phone like Nokia N95 had a bigger sensor and bigger pixel-size. In 2007 they had a phone with 1/2.5 inch sensor and 2.2 micron pixel pitch.
Don't remember anyone calling it ultrapixel!

ultrapixel is just a marketing term aka a name. is it so hard to understand that? HTC figured that it would be rather embarrasing to sell a flagship with only 4MP on board so they coined this term.
Its like apple coined the retina display term. theres nothing to do with retina there. its just a name.
And how big fat and heavy was that n95? 808 is best cameraphone out there but nokia coundnt sell it. people dont want fat phones anymore. not most people.
Seems like you don't want a dslr. If you want REALLY GOOD picture quality and that's all you care about you could still get a decent digital non-dlsr camera which is much smaller than a dslr. I mean you already got a decent phone anyways so why throw so much money on 808 that's got nothing but a camera? Better spend something like $350 on a decent camera with superb quality. That price range can already get you something much better than any smartphone camera's

Captain Obvious strikes back with vengeance.
i know it very clear 808 just cant compete with DSLRs but u should give the credit where it is due. 808 does compete with some of the low end DSLRs and i said LOW END!!
and 920 is only better than 808 in terms of steady videos cause of its OIS and thats it!
808 captures true colors and u can get the punchier colors while chossing vivid mode or increasing the contrast
i just wish, GOD just WWWIIIISSSSHHH that HTC had used some high quality and higher pixel count sensor in ONE! that would have been awesome!
ultra pixel of HTC ONE is like the 12MP sensor of N8 when it was introduced years ago! and then Nokia perfected that with 808. i was literally hoping a great phone from HTC this year at least, but alas... Ultrapixel should be evolved and it definitely would be, into something comparable to what Nokia did with 808!
now my current wish is Nokia choses to go Android and introduce Pureview Phase 3 phone with FHD screen and camera with double the performance of 808... (just a wish )

HTC desire SV

I really thank xda developers team for all the tremendous efforts done to make the site one of the best smartphone guide out there if not the best!
I've been a smartphone junkie since Nokia n95 and the HTC touch pro and I've owned a lot of phones throughout the years and I ended up with the Sony xperia Z and loving it deeply and lately I decided lately to buy a 2ry phone coz I will be traveling frequently.
I chose to buy a dual sim phone as to have a chance to go around with 2 carriers.
I made my survey and I was torn between the beefy his spec gadget "samsung grand" and the sexy looking design and appealing UI of the "HTC desire SV". I chose HTC.
I searched xda forums to get to know the desire SV overall performance and user satisfaction feedback of the device but unfortunately I didn't find a dedicated forum for it.
So I decided to post a topic for it to allow the phone owners to discuss everything about it.

After using this phone for a while, I'd like to say my opinion in general....
Pros: High quality refined dual SIM Android device, Beats Audio, good screen size, replaceable battery. It also comes with 25GB free Dropbox storage with a 2 year validity.
Cons: No HD video recording, no front facing camera, low resolution screen (for the size), software glitches out of the box with no dev support until now and still no sign of SW upgrade from HTC (even though some sites talk about a future release of JB), low ram (786mb)
HTC sense integration is week on this device.
There is lag on multitasking. Sound is muffled when laying on its back owing to the speaker position, but good quality in general.
Touch responsiveness is sometimes annoying, needs more than one press to act, don't know if it's a matter of lag or is it a software bug.
For some reason the network sometimes disconnects and needs a reboot to get it to work, portable tethering needs refreshing frequently.
Battery is ok, it reaches almost 20% at the end of the day with moderate use.
Camera is not bad, but at low light condition it's not satisfactory.
The overall performance is ok but could've been better.

Desire SV is the flagship dual SIM phone from HTC and is currently the best dual SIM phone that you can buy in terms of specification. It comes with a 1 GHz dual core processor along with a 768 MB of RAM, 4.3 inch LCD 2 display, 4 GB internal storage expandable to 32 GB, it also has an 8 megapixel main camera which features an f/2.2 aperture and autofocus lens with LED flash for detail and accuracy in images even in low light conditions.
