Recently I found out EZpdf Reader app has a feature "Open in New Tab". I love it.
However, when I tried to show my dad how to use it, the feature didn't work right in his tablet.
Normally when you tap the feature, options come up for file management/browser apps available on the device its running on. My dad and I both have ES File Explorer. Selecting the feature in EZpdf Reader on my tablet, the option shows up. Selecting the feature in EZpdf Reader on my dads tablet, it automatically opens "Downloads" to search for a desired PDF file. I tried to clear defualts, but EZpdf just doesnt seem to want to provide any other options for apps on my dads tablet. Can anyone help explain why this might be

Is there any way to directly change file associations in Android? I read you should be able to it this way:
Going to the app manager, selecting an app and then there's a Launch by default setting.
But it says there No defaults set for every app. For example Adobe Reader opens when I click on a PDF file. Still it says No defaults set.
Is that even the proper setting or am I looking in the wrong place?
Also if it is, is there any way to easily switch between file associations?
I assume this is because you have only one application able to open PDF on your device.
On my device I have 2 applications able to do it and I have the pop-up window that appears when I want to open a PDF.
I confirm that's the right place.
What application would you like to open your pdf with?
The problem came up when I installed Documents to Go whose PDF reader was slooow. So I wanted to use the default PDF reader that comes with Revolution HD. For some reason I couldn't find it anymore, so I installed Adobe Reader (but that's offtopic here... ).
So if I got it right:
If you install more than one app capable of opening a certain filetype you get asked when you open that filetype. You can also set a default app and then you don't get asked. This default setting can be removed through the app manager.
That so?
Correct
So, I tried my first ePub book from my library today. Figured out downloading it on the tablet, but made the mistake of opening it with MyLibrary. I hadn't used this stock app at all until now, as all my reading has been things I've purchased or downloaded for free in Google Books.
It is, in a word, unusable.
It flickers constantly and doesn't respond to touches on the screen 50% of the time. It's not like I have a staggering number of documents on my Transformer -- it's only detecting a grand total of 45 things, almost all of which I would never want to open with it. Unfortunately, there's no way to limit it to a specific folder branch, but I digress.
My problem is that having opened my ePub file with MyLibrary, even though I intentionally didn't choose a default application on opening it from File Manager, it now defaults to opening in MyLibrary, even after a reboot. I've confirmed there are no defaults set for either MyLibrary or File Manager, and indeed even downloaded an app that listed all defaults on my system, and removed the only two that it found.
Still, the ePub will now only open with MyLibrary.
How--without rooting or wiping--can I get this hateful application either disabled or unlinked so File Manager will allow me to open the book in another app? I have other ePub-capable apps (eg. Nook) installed, so it must be possible to get my book into another app, but I can't for the life of me figure out how.
Easy, if you have Nook installed then go into file Manager, tap on the Nook folder then you will see MyDocuments folder. Move all your epubs into that folder and open the Nook App. Top Left select "My files" then hit the refresh icon top right. All your epubs should populate the screen.
Oh yeah, My Library is a piece of junk . . . lol
Just go to Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All. Scroll down to the Mylibrary app, select it and you should see 'Launch by default' there. Select 'Clear defaults'.

I know several ereaders came with our Elocity A7, but were removed because my grandson said he would never use them.
However, I am using the A7 now and I would like to use one of the eReders.
#1- What eReaders came with the A7?
#2- Which one is the "best" and allows me to read free books?
#3- If there is one that is the "best" (my neighbor told me he thinks these were originally on my A7 = Adobe, Aldiko, FBReader, Kindle), how might I get it back on my A7?
Please advise and thank you.
P.S. Adobe Reader is still on the A7, but when I clicked on it, it wanted me to sign a license agreement. Is this an eReader?
I saw something on http://www.elocitynow.com/freeapps.shtml, but I am confused as to which one to choose. I think Aldiko would be the best "free" ereader, but in the body of the site it states to install from flash drive to "After copying the file to your portable media, insert the flash drive into the A7's USB port (left side) or insert the Micro SD card into the card slot (top). Tap the center smart button to access the desktop, then tap the "ES File Manager icon to access your external media. Just find the app, tap it to begin the install, and you're done.
Just what does that mean and what is "smart button" and "ES File Managers?"
I see "OI File Manager," and if that is correct area, what do I do then?
Thanks again for any help.
Hello, I recently dumped my Ipad 2 for the Gnote 10.1 and am running into a small problem. Im a military pilot and have a TON of flight manuals, all annotated, highlighted, and bookmarked up with Iannotate for easy studying.
I have found Iannotate for Android, lacking and want to try EZPDF or Repligo (right now i have Repligo). Repligo will not open any document annotated with Iannotate. Neither will Snote. infact only the Android Iannotate and the Adobe Reader app will open them.
I cant be the only person seemingly locked into this now (i really dont want to have to re-do all of this).
Has anyone found a solution? the error I keep getting is " Error opening file. It appears to be damaged."
I have tried opening to Adobe.com, then redownloading (after a new annotation in hopes to put it in a universal Adobe format, but that didnt work).
Any Ideas?
In IAnnotate, you might try going to settings and choosing the 'email w/annotations'. Email to yourself and then open those in your new pdf reader. I use Mantano. Just an idea.
edit: I just tried that and did not have much success. I was able to open it up in IAnnotate and see all the annotations but when opening it up in EZPdf, Mantano, Moon Reader and Adobe reader, only the document showed w/o annotations. EZPdf wouldn't open it at all, saying it was corrupted.
I'm thinking it's something with IAnnotate not being able to save or flatten the annotations with the pdf/doc that is preventing it from being opened or viewed by another reader. idk. Maybe someone else has figured this out. Good question, tho.
Yeah... its only some documents. I have gotten a couple to work. so im starting to think it may only be a certain type of annotation, one that may not carry over. Havent decided on the best reader yet.. gonna check out Mantano or EZ now.. Repligo isnt all that super (it is better than Iannotate though)
You can add my vote for ezpdf

Try flattening the annotations.

Is there any way to delete the installed S-Note templates?
I NEVER use any of the templates, only the basic S-Note. But, whenever I touch the + sign, all of these templates pop up when I would like it to just go directly to a blank note.
I've tried searching for the templates in the OS but haven't been able to find them.
I'm using a Galaxy 10.1 2013 model running stock OS.
Thanks in advance.
