I have a note 3 rooted on stock rom kitkat and I just got a gear 2 neo and since getting it I have had one successful time connecting in gear manager. but once I got it connected I couldn't select any of the settings. Everytime I tried to select something it would pop up for 1-2 seconds then send me back to the main menu. So today I uninstalled and reinstalled in hope to try and fix this issue. I have tried almost everything. I have reset both the gear and my phone several times. I have tried force closing apps, uninstalling/reinstalling samsung apps, bluetooth settings. when I go onto gear manager now it takes me to the "paired and unpaired devices" screen and my gear pops up but when I try and select it the app just flashes a few times and takes me back the same menu. I have no idea what to do.
EDIT: I researched this problem some more and found one other guy with the problem and the way it was fixed for him was by chance. He just resarted both the gear and his phone and it worked. but for me I am still stuck in the "select device screen" making my gear completely useless If anyone might know why please help.

Hey
Got the Gear on release, and have ever since had problems with getting it to reconnect to my Note 3 on phone reboot.
I have no problems with the gear. If i turn it off, or get out of range from my phone it just reconnects no problem.
But if i reboot my phone, the only way to get it to reconnect is by factory resetting the Gear 2. In the gear manager it just hangs.
Ive tried the following:
- Factory reset my Note 3 - Fail
- Tried removing the pairing in gear manager and the reconneting - Fail
- Tried removing the pairing in bluetooth settings - Fail
The only way i can get it to work again is by factory resetting the Gear 2
And ever since i updatede to 4.2.2 I get random reboots on the phone. So it makes it a real hassel to reset the Gear every time..
Anybody else have any issues? Ideas? Help?
Cheers in advance.
Gear Manager won't connect to Note 3
At least you got it to connect in the first place. I've got a rooted Note 3 with a custom ROM. Just got my Gear 2 Neo yesterday. Gear manager won't connect at all, rendering the watch completely useless. I connected to my wife's S4 just fine, but it won't connect to my phone at all.
I've factory reset the Gear - no luck.
Uninstalled and reinstalled Gear manager - no luck.
Tried Xposed root cloak - no luck.
Reflashed my ROM with five different kernels - no luck.
Installed an older version of Gear manager - no luck.
Tried installing the APKs from connection fix for non-Samsung phones here at XDA - no luck.
What's left to try before I send it back for a refund?
Every time the device pairs, whether its the initial setup, the subsequent connections, resetting the phone, turning on bluetooth... whatever. Every 15 seconds or so I go through a loop - "Connected to Gear S2"... 5 seconds later a popup "Unfortunately, Gear Plugin has stopped."
I've factory reset the watch.
I've rebooted the phone.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled all samsung apps (gear manager, gear plugin, samsung accessory service)
I've factory reset the phone.
The ONLY thing I can think of - the phone is an international Note 5 (SM-N9208, N9208ZTU2AOJ3, 5.1.1), which I purchased for the dual sim, and the watch is a canadian S2 (purchased through Best Buy)... but this makes little sense to me.
Any thoughts?
Happened on Note 4. I completely reset the phone, flashed different ROM, etc. Gear connected. Then I tried restoring apps, Gear Plugin shat the bed again. Something about apps I had installed, screwed it up. And I have no idea which one.
Try to install it on a clean, "just reset" phone. If it works, then you may have an app screwing it up.
Yeah I tried that... did the install on a factory wiped phone. Gear plugin crashed. Ended up returning the s2, got my hundreds back heh.
i have a brand new s4
it does the same thing the hole screan goes like green then gives me the error code imsending it back inwould sayvits cuz the ribon cable isnt conected properly so is cant process what going to the screen thats just a guess
Recent update or something seems to have bricked my ability to connect to my gear. I've reset the gear, uninstalled and reinstalled, all to no avail. Even cleared data on accessory service.
Hangs on connecting to gear? Anyone else having that happen?

I am able to connect to my Note 4, but after the update I stopped receiving notifications. I restored the watch, tried everything in the notification manager and nothing happened. Then I turned offline mode on and off and it started working. But I turned off the watch over night and got the same issue again. Until now nothing made it work. Plus my watchface doesn't recognize the battery on the phone properly, so I guess it must be a connectivity issue. Tried everything on bluetooth and nothing. The watch became useless. I search for a new update every hour on the app but nothing shows up. Hope they solve it quickly.
2 days ago i had an update for my Note 4. Since than my Bluetooth is acting up like every 10 minutes. Either is closes and restarts on his own or simply disconnects. As my only device connected through BT is my S2 watch... i can't be sure its Note's4 fault... but its most likely

Hi, I have this strange issue. I had the Gear 2 for about a month now, and always worked perfectly. Yesterday I got the new update, no issues there. But today I decided to format my phone (LG G3), and in order to re-sync the watch I had to reset it. Up untill then, everything ok, but now it won't connect! It shows the bluetooth pairing alert, I accept on both devices, and then it keeps 'connecting to gear' on the phone and 'setting up' the watch. If I wait long enough, the watch will ask me to restart the process as it is taking so long, but the phone just keeps going. If I close and restart the app in this state, it looks as it had connected but unpaired from the watch, and again, trying to connect triggers an endless pop-up with the connecting message... any clues? I have tried clearing cache and resetting everything multiple times, I am clueless!!...
edit: I have done the reset-all one more time, reinstalling the gear manager, and now I have another popup saying "Download failed. Try again."
edit2: solved it!! there was something wrong with samsung not being able to download the necessary apps for the watch to work. I manually downloaded "Gear S Plugin" and "Samsung Accessory Service" and it worked. Phew!...
I was battling with this problem (xiaomi device) for couple of hours until found your post.
Thanks mate.
Got my S8+ at launch, reset my Gear 2 running Tizen and quickly had it paired using both the Gear app and Samsung Health.
Everything was running just fine until a about a week ago when the pairing stopped. I decided to reset the Gear 2 and re-pair it to my S8+.
After several unsuccessful tries, here's what happens:
1. Reboot phone and wait for boot to complete.
2. Start the Gear app (v2.2.17022862) on the phone.
3. From the Gear app select "Connect new Gear."
4. Power on the Gear 2 and select "Next / Next"
5. Back to the app on the phone select "Gear 2 (XXXX)"
6. Get a Blue tooth pairing request on both devices and confirm on both of them.
7. The Gear 2 shows "Waiting for confirmation from Gear Manager" and the Gear app on the phone shows "Connecting to Gear..."
8. Minutes pass and nothing else happens.
IOW, the Bluetooth pairing is successful but the actual link between the devices never finishes.
Any idea what I might try next to get this working?
TIA,
RIch
Having similar issue. eventually got a connection failed. This worked originally then I did the OTA update (I have an unlocked S8+) and the Bluetooth started acting up.
One post said unpair everything and now I cant get the phone to reconnect. Eventually Bluetooth recognizes the Gear2 and the Gear Manager (as disconnected).... and the watch stays in that factory reset mode.
Not sure exactly how, but I got mine working. After unpairing the Bluetooth connection, I also cleared the cache and data on both the Samsung Gear app and the Samsung Health app then removed both apps from my S8+ rebooting many times along the way. After reinstalling the Gear app and the Health app I was able to eventually get the pairing to be successful.
Sorry I can offer better detailed guidance. I hope you get yours working again too.
Thanks... I tried clearing S-Health's\Samsung Connect cache, unpairing the watch, deleting Gear Manager, and restarting. That didn't work. I'll give it another try.
Just out of curiosity, have you disabled anything like Bixby or Svoice? I have both disabled... I tried reenabling them before but that didn't help.
Nope. While I don't use either, both Bixby and SVoice remain active. Sorry I can't help more.
