I get poor reception where I live with my HTC Desire S and wanted to know which smart phones had the best reception.
Are there and phones that an external aerial/antenna can be attached to?
Thanks for any help (btw I am in Melbourne, Australia)

Hi
I am a new owner of HTC touch pro from Vodafone and i noticed some strange thing: when I was in my room and put vodafone simcard in my "old" nokia n73 i have full 3g(UMTS) signal on it (full coverage), next when I put the same vodafone simcard to my new HTC touch pro it has only GPRS (not full signal!) in the same place when i don't work on it, but when i started to use the internet on it, the signal has changed for HSDPA ("3g+" symbol), very poor reception but HSDPA (i've tested on dslreport with result 218kbit/s), is this normal? is it kind of power saving in HTC?
best regards
Hi, you've posted this in the wrong sub forum, this is the accessories section.
You're more likely to get help if you post in the main Raphael forum.
I'm getting a bad carrier signal on my Samsung C6625.
I swap my sim card between an Imate 8502 & HTC S620 and both of them manage a steady 1-2 bars of signal in my room.
When I use the Samsung C6625 I most of the time have no reception or one bar. I have to literally keep the thing on my window!
Are there any software/tweak suggestions for a better signal?
I might have to sell it.
I'm using the Valencia Remora ROM
On the UK O2 network
Windows Mobile 6.5.3 Std
I'm using the same rom ( same telephone ) ,
I have T-Mobile NL
But i have a good signal..

No it depends on your carrier signal strenght and covering! It depends not on your device because you also have a bad signal with you Imate and HTC!

I beg to differ.
A phone with a bigger aerial is going to get better reception.
So the phones internal aerial set-up does contribute.
Like I said with Imate & HTC I get decent 1-2 bars (never no service).
With the Samsung I get 0-1... mostly 0 (no service)
Hi All,
I have been researching the new HTC EVO 4G, and i love it. I have been an iPhone suck in the past and have finally realised why apple should stick to making things looks nice rather than function well.
I have been reading that the HTC EVO runs on the CDMA network which Australia had turned off in 2006,
Is there any modification that can be made for this brilliant phone to work in Australia.
If so please inform me as i will be buying one asap.
Thanks in advance
Hey, I don't believe there is anything you can do as you would have to replace the radio on the phone and associated firmware. Another down side to using the evo in australia is the is no 4g service available.
Technically (I think) it should work with Vivid Wireless which is a new WiMax provider. They are only in Perth at the moment, but are due to launch over east very soon.
The problem though is that Vivid is only an internet provider. If you wanted voice calls you would need to use their VoIP service (or someone elses).
Hello every one my name is Mike S.
I am the owner of a site called PremiumReview, i do reviews on Android base phones and other little things.
I'm looking to get a new Android phone I REALLY want the HTC Desire. But a few things its only available at telus and im on rogers(that's easy solvable, get it unlocked).
the biggest problem i am having is the telus does not have a EDGE/GSM network and only a CDMA/GSM. So I can load the phone up fine it will connect to rogers 3G network but if i get out of coverage of rogers 3G it loses all signal because the telus ROM on the phone doesn't know to look for EDGE only CDMA(that rogers doesnt have). So my questions is
1)how can I make the phone see Rogers EDGE network? and I would like to keep the HTC Sence UI
2)Dose any one have a modified ROM that they could send me / that could possiably unlock it to possiably a paypal cash reward. Expacly if it unlocks it to
I just bought a HTC desire (telus brand) to use on the att network. Will I have the same problem?
Hello everyone,
i just bought my nexus 5 and i'm quite afraid now.
I bought D820 witch is obviously not designed for Europe, I knew before buying it that i wouldn't be able to connect to 4G but I didn't know that i would have such a bad signal.
At home, I hadn't problem with other phones (Htc one, iphone 5 note 2, s3 etc) but with this one, i can't call, except in my kitchen and open areas (not always!)
Is there a way to have a better signal? (radio?modem?)
Or do I have to resell it because D820 is definitly not compatible with french networks? (bouygues)
Thanks in advance and have a good day!
(Sorry for my bad english)
Hi again,
obviously no one knows.
Anyway, I think i found a "trick" to improve it when you're in the same boat as mine :
In order to improve the signal when you have a D820 in Europe, you have to choose "3g" instead of "4g" (default choice) in settings.
Now I have better signal, still not as good as previous phones but functionnal.
Hope it will help!
Bye everyone!
