[Q] Is it possible to root Sony Xperia E1 (D2005) with a locked bootloader? - Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo (Dual), J, E

Hello,
I've wasted a lovely sunny morning trying to root the Sony Xperia e1 with no sucess. Also did tons of research on this matter but can't find nothing conclusive...
So... I know you can unlock it if you follow sony instructions, and as far as I know you can install root with a locked bootloader using a software called flashtool. I installed flashtool and tried to root my phone, as many people suggest in their videos and tutorials, but I got an error message and it screwd my google chrome ( I fixed chrome already). The error message it's similar to this one:
18/023/2013 09:23:01 - INFO - <- This level is successfully initialized

I installed all flash tool drivers available in the program and noticed that in the folder "devices", the model of my phone "D2005", isn't listed there - maybe it's because of this that I can't root ??? - .
I've thought of clicking on the BLU button, but since the videos and tutorials I saw didn't suggest this I got worried and afraid of screwing something up.
Well I would really love to root my phone and still have the thing locked so I can receive auto updates and don't mess with my warranty.
Maybe I'm missing something but I really got the feeling that it is possible to successfully go through this procedure and it's not necessary to unlock your bootloader and install recovery the traditional way.
Aditional Information:
Android version: 4.3;
Compilation Number: 20.0.A.1.21;
Thank you very much for your time and patience.
The best regards,
Absinto10

Towelroot.com then follow instructions, takes 5min to root. Install superuser and update binary after towelroot.

Where is the problem? Why can't I access root?

[Solved] Help me root my Z3 (Unlocked BL, Android Ver. 5.0.2, Build 23.1.A.1.28)

Hey xda-community.
First of all, excuse me for my english, i'm from Switzerland and had an iPhone (jailbroken (much easier!))
I'm getting really confused, i'm trying to root my Z3 for 4 days! Tried out different tutorials on different sites (while looking at the Device, Buildnumber and Androidversion + Instructions on the sites & programs) but it's annoying with so much undetailed tutorials (where to get .ftf, where do i find a "boot.img" <-didn't download anything from here)...
What I did until now:
Looked on my device with *#*#7378423#*#* if BL unlock is possible. It is.
Then I unlocked it over http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/ and it worked.
After reading about the Flashtool, i found this one: http://developer.sonymobile.com/services/flash-tool/
Used it in hope that it will root it, which it didn't when looking in the Service Info on my Z3.
I found later the real Flashtool by Androxyde and downloaded with the integrated XperiFirm the .FTF (Xperia Z3, D6603, CDA: 1288-9930, Switzerland, Customized CH)
After downloading, it unpacked the files and then the Firmware Selector window popped up. I disabled on Wipe: "CACHE" and "DATA" and pressed on Flash.
The Debug info showed text like this:
Code:
. . .
- DEBUG - (USBFlashWin32.java:65) - IN : CommandID : 4 / Flags : false,false,false / Data length : 0 / Data CRC32 : [00, 00, 00, 00]
- INFO - (X10flash.java:558) - Flashing finished.
. . .
After starting my Z3, the root button (the open lock icon) enabled for me.
Clicked on it -> selected SuperSU -> Ok -> then this:
Code:
. . .
- INFO - (RootJob.java:112) - Running part1 of Root Exploit, please wait
- DEBUG - (AdbUtility.java:270) - Pushing C:\Flashtool\custom\shells\rootit_work to /data/local/tmp/rootit

- DEBUG - (ProcessBuilderWrapper.java:93) - rm: /data/local/tmp/rootit2: No such file or directory
Can someone somehow help me?
You're not alone with having problems
I'm trying to root my phone, too, which is equipped with 23.1.A.1.28 firmware, but I'd like to avoid unlocking the BootLoader (though it's possible according to service menu). As far as I understand the various tutorials there's just one way to root my device - downgrade firmware to 23.0.A.2.93, root by using giefroot, then install a prerooted lollipop firmware.
Alas, downgrade didn't work for me -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/help/flashtool-downgrade-t3122477
Ok i found a solution and worked very good (just took some time at giefroot). I did this tutorial ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/guide-rootrecovery-how-to-root-install-t3017056 ). But before i began with it, i relocked my BL with Flashtool. I wonder if the Trimm Area isn't damaged after all

Sony Xperia E3 D2203 Brick

Hi!
Some days ago my phone's battery has just died, I was charging it all night, but when I tried to turn it on it started to Bootloop. Then I was trying to flash the original sony system, but the Sony Flashtool program needs to have USB Debugging to be on. On my phone it wasn's turned on, so Im stock at this point, I cant flesh the thing on my E3. I would really appreciate If you would help me if you can.
So the main question is: how can I solve the problem about USB Debugging if the phone is softbricked?
Sony Flashtool: 21/039/2016 13:39:03 - INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
21/039/2016 13:39:03 - INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
I was trying to connect my phone in flash mode, but it failed because of not having USB Debugging on. Is there any way to enable USB Debugging if the phone is softbricked?

Unable to root my XZ - please help

Hi all,
would anyone be so kind to walk me through the process of rooting my Xperia XZ (F8331). I need this to be allowed to run a network sniffer which I need to resolve a weird network problem I have with IPv6.
---- Long story & rants ----
I admit, I am running out of patience, sorry for that.
I have tried to root my XA F8331 (Android 8.0.0) for more than 2 days now with no success. Host computer is Windows 10 x64. I wade knee deep in outdated, incomplete, misleading, simply not working for some reason, laden with unclear abbreviations and all other kind of time wasting misinformation both in this forum and anywhere else. I tried to use tools like flashtool, magisk, superuser, supersu and some others but obviously either they didn't do the trick, require I do things I don't understand, require I intstall and use other tools I don't have, or they didn't work at all, or the descriptions on how to install and use them were so unclear that I didn't even get them installed or they crashed right upon start.
So please don't post the usual "have you read this ... " thread pointers, chances are high I have read it, and tried to do like described, but got stuck at some point where things don't work like described, rendering the whole thing useless. I will happily follow hreads, however, if you are confident that the information given is accurate for the XZ ( F8331) on Android 8.0.0 and up to date (9/2018).
Desaster status:
I think I have successfully unlocked the bootloader (using flashtool 0.9.24), since the phone when rebooted gives me a yellow warning that the device must be considered unsafe. This is also where Flashtool drops out, the next step (root the phone using SuperSu oder SuperUser) fails with a fairly non-helpful error message that "The part1 exploit did not work".
This is what flashtool has to say on loading:

I went with flashtool, because this brought me the farthest, other approaches like Magisk failed because they rely on me having mysterious images of something, which I don't have, and/or make use of some other mysterious tool (TWRP) which I am usure where to get, how to use, and how it fits into the Magisk process, or make choices in a bootloader which never appears on my Xperia (screen is just black/blank if I boot in fastboot or flashmode or use commands like "adb reboot bootloader"
Thanks to the forum restrictions I am also forced to post here, instead of using the correct section where it's all about ROMS and firmwares, sorry for that, but I had no choice.
Anyone who is able to give me a hand and help me out?#
Thanks, Armin
Now that you have unlocked bootloader ( you should have gone with official unlock method)
Just search for latest twrp for xz. Download it. Now turn the phone off and hold volume up and connect usb to pc. Flash the twrp using ADB.
Next step is flashing a rootable kernel. Just download the latest from the forum. Again flash using ADB command. Now hold power + vol up till phone vibrates.release the buttons and wait for the recovery to boot up. Now flash magisk zip,and drm fix zip. Viola,it's done.
Btw this is the correct section for questions and problems not development section.
Ps: there is no other way to root this phone. So if you don't want to work with ADB and Twrp you can kiss root goodbye.
Hi Joseph,
many thanks to you, I'll try your instructions when I return home tonight, and let you know how things went.
It already feels good to know that there is someone out there, I was already upon giving up ...
Best regards from Bavaria, Armin.

[QUOTE="Nimral, post: 77801422, member: 8902279"]Hi all,
would anyone be so kind to walk me through the process of rooting my Xperia XZ (F8331).
This is what flashtool has to say on loading:

wow! this is the first time i am reading some one has unlocked the xz this way ..
anways if the device is unlocked (as you say that warning is coming on every boot) then....
1. your flashtool version is OUTDATED, and for OREO it doesnt work ! it should be latest (as of now its (0.9.25.0) )
2. inbuilt rooting methods/EXPLOITS given in flashtool doesnt work for XZ,
3. simply flash twrp , DOWNLOAD IT FROM HERE
4. now take the appropriate kernel & DRMFIX.zip file from H E R E
5. download magisk & magisk Manager
6. put kernel.img , drmfix.zip, magisk17.1.zip & MagiskManager6.0.x.APK in the SD CARD of your XZ
7. [ rename the file to twrp.img and put it in [C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot] ] open minimal adb &fastboot, connect device in fastboot mode (blue LED) & type" fastboot flash recovery twrp.img " (without quotes ) & Enter. now disconnect the device, press volume down and power & keep pressing until you see the twrp.
8. goto install, click install IMAGE FILE, point to kernel.img from that SD CARD, select BOOT partition (very important) and do it.
9. now flash drmfix.zip, then magisk17.1.zip and clear cache and reboot device!
you are DONE!
p/s:- you can flash supersu instead of magisk but magisk has its own benefits and supersu is discontinued.

As far as I remember there is a whole bunch of drivers required for a XZ to fully function with all available Xperia software, and as I have been experimenting with the device a while and installed the Sony Xperia Companion and Android Development Studio in the end I wasn't able to tell where I got which driver from and what which driver was good for.
Since all this driver stuff required for rooting is about programming via USB, as far as I understand it, I suspect that the crucial driver is the one you can download from here:
https://developer.sony.com/develop/drivers/
Since it doesn't come with any installer utility I guess you need to install it via the Windows Device Manager and go the "install legacy device manually" and "from local source" path. You'll have to unpack the .zip to any local folder and point the installation wizard's nose to it for it to work.
Please let me know whether my guess was right.
Greetz, Armin.
