Before I start, I'm actually fairly happy with the battery life on the sensation. Today it's been off the charger for about 4 hours and I'm still at 97% with little use and some light browsing. So for general such as idle and browsing, it isn't bad.
I have noticed, however, that the battery life sucks when doing intensive things, such as gaming. I lose easily over 30% an hour when watching videos or playing games. The other day I was sitting through a boring meeting, so I played a tower defense game I had. I had about 60% battery life when I started and my phone died in about an hour and a half. My screen brightness was a bit higher than it should have been, but it wasn't full.
I understand it will drain a ton with heavy use, but 60% in less than 2 hours is insane. I took a 25 minute car drive with navigation and my battery dropped over 20%. That's just crazy.
Has anybody else experienced this? What percent/hour do you lose when gaming? It basically means I can't do much gaming or I'm at risk of my phone dying before the day is done.
Bro, what u think gone happen gaming for an hr, with its big screen on that long? Nothing u said I find abnormal from my experience with this phone, are my last 4 phones. Heavy use = drain
Yeah, I realize that it's gonna drain a lot with gaming. At the same time, I don't think 40% an hour is something to be expected. I'm hoping it was just a weird battery cycle.
yeah, i played plants vs zombies and the battery died real fast. However cut the rope doesnt drain the battery that bad. Depends on game but most phones have poor battery life when you do intense stuff.
the nintendo 3ds has a much bigger battery and also has a poor battery life. Battery technology is crap.
...batteries drain faster under heavier loads bro.

My stock battery its wank, easily lose 30% an hour on angry birds but I bought an anker 1900mA from Amazon and after taking it off charge this morning at half 7 I've still got 26% left as I write this, nearly 16 hours later.

Have you tried one of the Aftermarket batteries? I have the Anker and it's safe to say that it does last longer than the stock HTC battery for me.
This thread is kinda funny. You know i just realized? that when i dont eat, i get hungry. Also when i drive like a maniac I use a lot more gas. Another thing new to me concerning batteries, and its on topic because we're talking batteries.... I left my flashlight on this morning and now its dead. Normally when i don't use it it can go weeks without charging.. But please dont leave the light on, it causes massive battery drain!! 1 more thing.. When i'm nice and helpful i get "thanks". When i'm sarcastic i dont
I just wanna work for that company... Whip out the phone and play games during meetings. My apps in!
i only play games now when hook up to charger now

Haha, joke all you want, but coming from the G2X I couldn't kill 60% of the battery in 1.5 hours if I tried.
Go ahead and defend the device all you want, but something about this device destroys the battery more than normal when the screen is burning and the processors are burning.
I agree. This phone has much better standby and general battery life compared to my vibrant, but I have noticed that the gps really burns through battery, moreso than the vibrant.

I actually am really liking the battery life on my sensation, just was in a joking mood. Coming from the EVO 4g i get twice as long with my S4G. Think about it though, you have a 1.2,3,4,5,6,7,or 1.8ghz cpu, depending on Overclock or not, Massive screen resolution, awesome game graphics that take every bit of the CPU/GPU to run them. And it's All running from a tiny ass battery. Look at laptops... If you play a system taxing game for an hour your battery will be toast, and that battery is a lot bigger. I think for what it is, It does a good job.

Then what's the point? I have a mobile device so I can do stuff while mobile. Otherwise I would just hop on my computer or laptop.
I'm convinced by now that the only real solution is a spare battery.

I think my battery is shot or something is draining it like no tomorrow. I got 6 hours of use (14%/hr) with moderate use. I can't even get through my work shift on this...I have an anker battery on its way and I'm hoping that'll fix things.

The higher resolution screen might have something to do with it.

i just got att 3 days ago and they gave me a iphone 4..since i got it half off cause of where i work. anyways the screen on this phone looks pretty nice and the size is another plus..but im HUGE on the battery life.

This is the wrong place for this post. Please post in Q/A or General next time. The battery life isn't bad for me. I get about 20+ hours a day with medium use.
Mod please move.
oh snap i thought i was in that section.
edit: wtf i cant delete my own thread..
gay.
Coming from an Evo you'll probably think the Infuse has amazing battery life. People complaining usually have a rogue app or are victims of the random Gingerbread battery bug. I've experienced great battery life on both my rom and CM7. By great I mean ~16 hours with heavy usage... 4-6 hours of display on time (browsing and other random stuff) and 1-2 hours of listening to podcasts or music with the screen off. I'm usually connected to wifi except when I'm on the road and brightness is usually set to auto, sometimes to 30 or 40 percent. People have reported 2-3 days without charging if they stay connected to wifi and use the phone very lightly.
Yup, I've gone 3 days with light use and still around 30%. Of coarse, that's on infused though
I get 3-4 days on my captivate with 3000mAh battery makes my phone a lot thicker though
Not sure if they have good extended batts for infuse but the stock battery is a good size. This is my next phone when i resign next month.

I came from the evo....battery life at first was awful....but after some tweaking (thanks to you gtg, bedwa, entropy and linux_bozo) it is pretty comparable.
Tiered data= suck tho haha...just went into my 3rd $10 charge this month

So far no extended batt has tested at more than 2500 actual (despite claiming to be 3500).
Was just running through e-bay and I saw this...

Hello, I have bought one. It has greatly improve thé lifetime of my battery.
I have this battery. In 2-3 hours the charge level falls from 100% to 30%, but then it can hold a whole day of intensive use. I tried calibrating, clearing battery stats, nothing helped.
hey every one.... im going on holiday soon and sadly theres a stay of 6 hours half way through hahaha making the whole trip of about 16 hours!!!!!! :crying: going to china for a business trip.
anyways the phone isnt rooted... its completely stock. Any tips on how to save battery??? i will be listening to songs and probably watch a movie or two...
any tips on how i can make the phone last 16 hours?
does juice defender or softwares like that really work to save battery? It sounds like they will drain the battery by running in background...
oh btw i use poweramp for music..
is it not possible to turn the cpu frequency down with out s-off? or turn like one of the cores of to save battery?
thanksssss
Forget it.
To do that you should have 2-3 spare, charged batteries.
Mike
I just bring two extra fully charged batteries with me on trips and my wall battery charger from anker. I can charge my current battery and the extra at the same time. This is what I
Do now because I've been on trips and have flat ran out of battery! I hate that so now I always bring my extra anker and my old stock as backup batteries . This gives me three total. Honestly this is the best way to go in my opnion. Let's face it, battery life no matter how much we tweak it still isn't that great on smart phones. So I just bring extras and I'm set! Hope this helps out.

Also there is a battery tweak you can flash in android development. Take a look you will find it. You can under volt and this will help out a lot.
Sent from my Sensation 4G using xda premium
thanks for your replies.... Gonna have to go out tomorrow to buy a battery then haha... dont have any spare ones :/
i cant flash the battery tweak because my phone isnt rooted... its still S-on
S-OFF.
But seriously. You'd be lucky to make it through a single movie. Airplane mode since you'll be on an airplane (ha ha ha)
You should be fine listening to music. Keep the damn screen off. Bring a car battery with you and hook it up. Convince everyone you're not a terrorist.
Bring some ether and pass yourself out for 16 hours. Again, convince everyone you're not a terrorist.
I streamed the game the other night. Took just about two batteries to make it through the entire game.
Really having the spare battery is a nice convenience! If you can seriously dude buy an extra! It will help out a lot! Nothing I hate more than being stranded on a trip without battery! I've had it happen, couldn't even call my family! It sucked. So now I'm always leaving with a fully charged spare!
Sent from my Sensation 4G using xda premium
You could buy an external battery; this one has way more power: 11000mAh, which is 7,3 times the amount of the stock battery. Since you'll be in a plane, you could keep it in your cabin baggage.
And to lower the CPU's voltage, you'll need root permissions.

hahaha couldn't stop laughing!!!!! i wont be able to buy those portable chargers online because im leaving on monday... gonna visit the local store tomorrow and going to see which is cheaper.. battery or portable charger
thanks for the reply every one
Using airplane mode is the best thing you can do. The radio is tge 2nd biggest battery drain so shutting it off will help alot.
Keep the screen brightness low.
Movies will still drain it hard. But music with tge screen off should drain too hard.
Dont forget to have a power oitlet adapter for when you get there

I think using airplane mode should help disable sync also gps but you should have flashed a custom rom before it would have helped you...

I don't think soo...i don't have any pro knowledge about that...why don't you just carry your iPhone with you?
My old phone I turned it off at 60% and came back 2 months later and the battery went dead. Had to recharge it to power it on
