[Q] How do I sideload a rom on an older verison of CWM? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I happened to do the standard wipe data/cache/dalvik, and tried flashing a 4.4.2 rom. However, I realized that I had an older version of CWM installed, and have no older roms or backups on the device. I am having trouble connecting to the device via adb (I have the Samsung drivers installed, google would not install). How can I go about putting on an older rom to install or flash to stock? I'm really stuck.

If your recovery supports Mounting USB Storage the do this:
1) Boot to Recovery
2) Connect to PC
3) Mount USB Storage
4) At this point you should see a your SD card. Copy a newer recovery or a proper ROM and flash it

Can't Install any ROMS

Restored the Tablet TF101 back to stock rooted and everything worked. Installed CWM Did factory reset system wipes etc. Tried to install 3 different CM 10 all failed bad installation. Tried to installed the newest TWRP same thing I can't seem to install any rom from the external or internal just keeps saying bad?
What errors did TWRP tell you?
For TWRP why not download the GOO app from the playstore and find the option in the menu to allow it to install the open recovery script for you?
Had similar issues with my S4 with a particular rom but youve tried a few so i doubt its down to the download sites.
You may have to format the emmc and see how that goes as a last resort. (just make sure you have a rom placed on a micro sd as it will completely wipe the TF again but still keep your recovery)

[Q]Tab7.7 CM12 installed, Gapps failed, status 7 and no sdcard access

i tried to flash CM12 and Gapps 5.1.1 on the tablet. CM12 installed but not Gapps for some reason . The device rebooted into CM12 but without google apps. I might add that i cant type anything on the device without gapps as no keyboard.
i also cannot reload fresh rom and gappps into SDCARD to reflash as I cant see the SDcard from the file manager nor can I flash from ODIN any other working or stock roms (ODIN and my PC no longer see my phone SDCARD).
I can still see the SDCARD in recovery mode but since i cant find it in file manager or connect from my PC. I cant load any new roms and gapps to correct the installation. i can only install stuff via recovery mode if put in external sdcard.
i have supersu on the device...i guess that means its rooted.
it seems that i have two problems
1 ) without gapps , of course the device wont work properly. i have cm-12-20141128-UNOFFICIAL-p6800. Tried to install gapps 502 base from external sdcard. i get a status 7 installation abort error.
2) CM12 has rendered my sdcard not accessible via pc or file manager. so i cant put in files via external sdcard and move them to /sdcard in order for a reflash of rom from recovery mode.
Is my tablet now bricked?
Which Recovery Do you use? Try to Flash the latest from CM 12. It's from May 2015.
CM11 CM12 installation on Tab 7.7 P6800
THanks. I managed to flash official stock CSC rom from Odin and tab updated software ota and is now running on 4.1.2.
I have installed cwm 6.0.3.0-p6800.tar on the table and rooted with supersu v1.25+
Tried to install kitkat
cm-11-20141110-UNOFFICIAL-p6800
but when i got to gapss, i got a status 7 error using
gapps-444-base-20150515-1-signed
I also tried to install lollipop version but didnt get pass the custom rom installation..it didnt even start...at ......... FSfactory....... for at really long time so i aborted..
cm-12.1-20150502-UNOFFICIAL-p6800
gapps-511-base-20150515-1-signed
any advise?
Not sure about CWM recovery, but at last on TWRP, my laptop can see the SD card while in recovery mode. Did you try the 5.1.1 lollipop ROM from danielhk?

P5100 shows TWRP logo and resets

I just flashed many different versions of TWRP downloaded from their site(I got only the ones compatible with my P5100). After successfully flashing them all through Odin, I can't boot into recovery. The TWRP logo screen is shown and after 2 seconds the device reboots. I followed many guides, and they were all similar in this particular process. Am I missing something, or could there be anything wrong with my unit?

did you also installed a rom??
No. I'm running the stock rom, no root. I just wanted to get the twrp installed because I need to copy my personal files to an sd card. My stock rom is rebooting itself after completing the normal system startup. I can barely open any app. So I need to backup my files and do a factory reset. Any ideas? Thanks!
I think you need to get rid of TWRP and root the stock ROM, then flash TWRP using an app running on your tablet. Do not use a PC to flash the recovery. Also, if you are installing a zip, you must do it on the device, not through your PC.

That doesn't make sense. Odin exists for the exact purpose of flashing through a PC, in case your recovery or anything gets damaged.

No operating system in my phone

Hello
I rooter and install TWRP on my galaxy note 5 (SM-920P) with success.
after I started my phone on recovery mode to install a custom rom
in the wipe menu I mistakenly checked the internal storage space.
after I found that my phone does not contain an operating systhem it contains TWRP
I tried with oden to install official firmware but its not working
please please what is the solution?
thank you
What error did u get on ODIN. It should work. Choose to reboot to download mode from TWRP and flash via ODIN.
If not, Find an OTG cable, put a Custom rom ZIP in a USB drive and install via twrp from OTG SUB drive.
Thank you

updating twrp

i currently have twrp 3.1.1.0 multirom and wish to remove this and install the latest 3.4.0.0 as i am unable to install any roms.
Not sure if bug in the custom twrp but i cannot use it and have already tried wiping and cant get latest lineageos to install.rp
keep getting error 6 error 7. so i think twrp needs updating
I tried putting the .img file onto phone storage and off usb and install via "install image"
however i get
"select partition to flash image:"
Boot
it doesn’t list recovery for some reason so now im stuck with this
I have no images working i have tried getting old os to install but they are unable to work now and have already wiped the phone to make sure its clean install but i keep getting error.

There's no need to put the img file into the internal storage of the phone. Just flash it with fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Or, if you are rooted, use the official TWRP app, it should be even easier.
