Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I restore Factory Firmware if my Bootloader is locked?
Yes. However attempting to downgrade to an older version of Android may fail. Even with an unlocked Bootloader, downgrading cannot be guaranteed. It's also important to be aware that flashing the wrong Bootloader (motoboot.img) for your model can have serious consequences. Always establish your model of Moto E before flashing.
After flashing Firmware Image files phone gets stuck during boot-up | will not load Android?
Refer to the guide. Check you are naming the files correctly, and make sure you are flashing all of the 'sparsechunk' files - not just those mentioned in the tutorial. The 'sparsechunk' commands listed there are not to be copied exactly, different firmware images have different files.
Downgrading and OTA Updates
If you downgrade, it is advised to avoid all OTA Updates. These updates can result in a hard-brick (phone will not turn on) if you have a newer Bootloader than the one expected. For example, you have the Lollipop Bootloader, but have downgraded to Android KitKat.
How to Disable OTA Updates?
(1) Without Root access
It may be possible to do this via:
Settings > Apps > [swipe left to 'All'] > MotorolaOTA (or something similarly named) > Disable
(2) With Root access
Google Play Store has many apps that will allow you to 'freeze' the OTA Update service. Titanium Backup is a common example.
Alternatively, with a 'root access' file explorer, you can delete or rename the following files:
/system/etc/security/otacerts.zip
/system/priv-app/3c_ota/3c_ota.apk
These additional files can be removed or renamed: (If you still get an OTA Update notification)
/system/priv-app/3c_checkin/3c_checkin.apk
/system/priv-app/3c_devicemanagement/3c_devicemanagement.apk
/system/priv-app/3c_notification/3c_notification.apk

It's meant for model number XT1023. I can't comment on what would happen if you flashed it. You can risk it, or wait for the 4.4.3 XT1022 firmware image.

Do not flash US firmwares.
You will have problem in receiving signals due to different modems.
Global Single Sim Firmware will work well but you will get only 1 sim to use.
Global and US firmwares are different.

Background:
I've got a dual sim Indian variant of Moto E XT1022 and I use it it India.
Also, I'm using just 1 simcard as I've got another phone(the awesome gnexus) as my primary phone.
Question:
Just wondering, if it's safe to flash the us variant's 4.4.3 image.
I understand radio is different, but is there a way I can dump radio.img from my current 4.4.2 setup and then use it on 4.4.3?
Hope I make my question clear.

I dont think there is any change between single sim gsm phone to dual sim variant except for sim number ofcourse. But i am not sure about network. it shouldnt cause any other issues. But i dont see the need though. i mean, 4.4.3 will eventually come to dual sim variant anyway. so, why take risk? you could try i think. but no one will be responsible except you if phone bricks.
If you have both single/dual variants firmware, try comparing both with beyond compare. you might find out if its safe or not to flash.

I'm just wondering if anyone's tried this thing or if anyone can think of something that can go wrong if I do this.
I still am able to find out how to dump my radio. Doing a lot of search to find out how.
I'm sure I'll be the only one responsible if I brick my device. :good:
Thanks for your reply btw.

Click to collapse 1) If your not rooted and still stock... you dont have to worry about downloading it there.. But just in case, Just check which model you got, if its the international version, you should download this one: Blur_Version.172.44.4.falcon_umts.Retail.en.US for kitkat or Blur_Version.14.14.16.falcon_umts.Retail.en.US for jellybean. 2) Once your receive your moto g,you can update it to 4.4.2 since OTA is already out for US. I got mine from uk and i live in Mauritius, i received the OTA like others in the uk. 3) Never tried this, but it should work.. You will receive the OTA but can't confirm installation will be successful without errors . you could just disable the app (eg: moto assist) and it doesn't require root. 4) You don't need to worry if you have the 16gb or 8gb, since you will download the same firmware.

When you flashed your Taiwanese firmware over Hong Kong, you are using LG Flash Tool 2014. But when I looked on the first screen of this app I found very scary me option says: CDMA (but not GSM). Why this scary me? Becoz I'm from Poland, and here we only have GSM networks, not CDMA. My question is: did you use your flashed phone with GSM network or CDMA? Or, maybe you know that this option has no differences with flashing GSM or CDMA network and I should't scare about this? Sorry for this investigation, but, you know, I don't want to brick my expensive phone... Edited: 21:20, 16.11.2014. For someone who want to know and how - I made it. 1. Bought LG G Pro 2 [16GB 838 model] with preinstalled firmware D838v10d-HKG (that's mean Hong Kong). In this software I didn't have LTE working, but I know I should because of this nice piece of hardware. 2. I tried to root my LG by towelroot from beloved @geohot, but it says - "Device not supported" 3. I dug a xda forum and realize, also thanks to answers of @tainka, that maybe, when I change my firmware, I can root my device in simple way? (bcoz is hard way and harder too). 4. So, with heart in mouth I downloaded some kdz firmwares, even didn't know for what country those was, and try to flash... 5. I used great new flashing tool which works with LG G Pro 2 too and flash D83810f_00.kdz file. Newest firmware, but I didn't know for which country it was. 6. After going flash procedure from page above (you should change language for your preferences bcoz if not, you will see Korean signs as communicates) I get phone with 10f firmware with marker D83810f-ESA-XX. AnyOne know for which country it is? 7. After flashing I realized that my Mobile Data not working. GSM/Voice coverage was ok, but connection to Internet was possible only by WiFi. 8. So, I scared and tried back to my 10d version but I didn't have my original kdz file from Hong Kong, only one from Internet, D83810d_00.kdz - this is this name. Of curse, I didn't know for which country it was too. 9. And after second flash I found that this version was for Taiwan - D83810d-TWN-XX, and 4G (LTE) is working in Poland, and, better, now I rooted my LG G Pro 2 by towelroot with one touch! 10. I almost forgot - CDMA in LG Flash Tool 2014 didn't change anything for me. I got GSM network only in my country (and about CDMA network no one heard in Poland), I used CDMA option in LG Flash Tool 2014 and after flash my mobile works in GSM network. Voila. So, making summary: Hong Kong version of 10d firmware not working with LTE in Poland, and can't be rooted by towelroot. And opposite for this, Taiwanese version of 10d working with LTE in Poland and can be rooted by towelroot. And both can be flashed on my device without scary. Now I know it [emoji14]. Last but not least: thank you @tainka for your help. I hope this story help someone and prevent from mistakes. --==||==-- Wystukane z mojego Asusa U36SG Wspaniałego. --==-- Knock-knocked from my Great Asus U36SG. == TomeG2kc aka Tomasz G.

Click to collapse I have LTE on my device, same firmware and version than yours without flashing anything. You just have to change something on the build.prop once rooted. I read here on XDA the procedure, find out a little bit. Once done, LTE won't show on the settings menu to choose it but device will get LTE and icon on statusbar will show it. Regards.

Click to collapse You can try to reflash native baseband of 10d version firmware. But I can't guarantee it help you (bcoz of your country code), and of course, I'm not responsible if you brick your phone. You can find native baseband file inside archive of Gpro2 CN V6 rom, in ,zip format, ready to flash through recovery - at least, I found it inside that file (Gpro2 CN V6.rar) - you must ask uncle Google. And I flashed it on some v10f rom, and it worked. But, again, you will do it at your own risk. And please, report if working!
[Q] [QUESTION] Moto G Retail Version
Hi guys. I was using the Lollipop version 5.0.2, but I did downgrade to 4.4.4 KitKat I could not install the Brazil Retail version, so I opted for the Asia Retail. Is there any difference between them? (I'm live in Brazil) thanks!
Wrong section to ask questions, perhaps different radio.

cellular network state disconnected please advise
I searched this forum and others and could not find anything that answered my question. If I am posting in the wrong place I sincerely apologize. If I did something totally stupid to my phone please tell me...here it is: I have a text now moto g xt1032 with an unlocked bootloader, rooted, TWRP recovery. I canceled textnow service and then flashed a rom (XT1032 Retail US Optimized v1.3) to get rid of text now's horrible rom that was preinstalled on it. This is not my DD and if I totally ruin it I can live with that but I hope that's not the case. I thought everything went perfectly. I thought I might try to activate with TING. The MEID check said the phone was compatible (it did show an odd device name xtsomething instead of moto g) and they gave me a phone number and I believe my MSL but when I went to do over the air programming it wouldn't work because I can not enable data/cell network. It just says account could not be validated when I dial ##DATA#. Sooo... should I try to find a way to manually program or do something here? Or is this because of my baseband/kernal? My info: moto G xt1032 android: 5.0.2 baseband version: msm8626bp_1032.390.81.01P BOOST_CUST kernal version: 3.4.42-g6f35b04-00002 [email protected] #1 Wed Apr 15 11:59:10 CDT 2015 system version: 220.41.36.falcon_umts.Retail.en.US Build number: see above network type: cdma - EvDo rev. A Voice: In service/data:in service cellular network state: disconnected Thanks guys for being so helpful and awesome! PS will the xt1032 umts kernal be compatible with all of the above in case I need to do that?

Will these radios work in the US?
What are the C model numbers of Australian Mate 9s?
I purchased a Mate 9 off Gumtree, but it was from Vodafone and it's stuck on MHAL09C346B136. Apparently, there are virtually no updates for the Vodafone Australia version so I want to give the phone the FunkyHuawei treatment and change the model number to and unbranded Australian model that will actually get updates as B136 is freaking ancient... So if anyone knows which model for Australian that I should be using, please let me know! Also if you are in Perth and have messed with Funky before - hit me up, I would love to pay you to flash my Mate 9!! (Yup I'm nervous!)
I think its C636 like the australians P9 Models Edit: Wait, the p8 is C470 http://consumer.huawei.com/au/support/search/index.htm?keywords=P9&t=HotSearch Gesendet von meinem MHA-L29 mit Tapatalk

That's weird because my mate 9 is single sim... It only lists dual sim there.

Click to collapse I don't think FH lets you rebrand to any Australian models, check their website. Also, talk to duraaraa .. From what I understand, there are ~3 "C" models in Australia - Optus and Vodafone have their own specific models and then there is a "Carrier Free" model (sold by JB HiFi/Hardly Normal), which is actually a Dual-SIM model. The Optus/Voda is Single-SIM only.. MHA-L09C34 = Optus MHA-L09C346 = Voda MHA-L29C652 = Harvey Norman Dual-SIM model. Thread about rebranding talks about these 3 models also... https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...0-mate9-to-t3554656/post70992863#post70992863 C272 / C470 / C567 - ASIA PACIFIC / AUSTRALIA Note: C567 is USA and C470 is New Zealand.. I believe More info on regions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...gion-codes-t3555086/post70992958#post70992958 If any option is viable, it would be rebranding to the MHA-L29C636 branding, which has been detailed on the forums here etc... That has been said to be one of the quickest to get updates... rebranding from a Single-SIM to a Dual-SIM model works and it just makes the second IMEI just show as 0's.

Can you tell me if VoLTE is working on yours (if you are using a telco which supports it) ? The setting doesn't show up on mine, and I thought it was because I bought the C636 model which is not an Australian model / wouldnt include the AU VoLTE configs.. Tho my guess is the Optus / Vodafone models include their VoLTE configs in their specific firmwares.. Telstra of course do not sell the phone - so no specific firmware available..
