1) If your not rooted and still stock... you dont have to worry about downloading it there.. But just in case, Just check which model you got, if its the international version, you should download this one: Blur_Version.172.44.4.falcon_umts.Retail.en.US for kitkat or Blur_Version.14.14.16.falcon_umts.Retail.en.US for jellybean.
2) Once your receive your moto g,you can update it to 4.4.2 since OTA is already out for US. I got mine from uk and i live in Mauritius, i received the OTA like others in the uk.
3) Never tried this, but it should work.. You will receive the OTA but can't confirm installation will be successful without errors . you could just disable the app (eg: moto assist) and it doesn't require root.
4) You don't need to worry if you have the 16gb or 8gb, since you will download the same firmware.

Hello everyone,
I live in the UK and got my Note 10.1 Wi-Fi N8000 for last Christmas from my brother who worked in South Korea. Everything was in Korean and I switched it all in English and everything works fine.
The thing that bugs me right now is that I would like to upgrade to Jelly Bean but nothing new is detected when I hit the Software Update button... Do you have any idea why?
Is it simply not available for me yet and should I just wait more? That would surprise me as I noticed that JB has already been deployed in many countries now, and 4.1.2 update seems to be on the way...
Or more likely in my opinion, does it have anything to do with my tablet coming from South Korea?
In any case, what should I do to get Jelly Bean?
For now, my Note is working under the original ICS 4.0.4, and is not rooted. I am ok with rooting my Note if need be but if possible, I'd prefer not to use Kies...
Thanks for your help!
root and update with odin to get the latest 4.1.2 check the step by step guides first though so you know what you are doing.

you can't update OTA because the firmware that you are using is of South Korea.. so the only way to get JB is to flash it... and don't worry everyone here don't use kies... we use ODIN...
what you shoud do first is download these necessary files:
1. Odin - the flashing tool
2. the firmware you wan't to flash
optional:
3. root
4. custom recovery..

Thanks very much!
I would have a few more (newbie) questions still:
- Once I flash a new ROM, will I be able to get OTA updates or will it be never possible?
And actually I don't understand why using a South Korean firmware prevents me from updating OTA... How do the South Korean do then, they can't update OTA? If I got a South Korean IP by connecting to a South Korean VPN for example, would OTA updates work? Or am I totally wrong? :silly:
- About choosing the new ROM (I'll stick with the official ones for now), does the country matter or can I choose whatever I fancy? (I live in the UK right now but I'm from France so I don't know if I should choose one version over the other)
- And one last but not least thing: as my Note is from Korea, my device model is actually SHW-M480W and is not like N80XX.
As it is Wi-Fi only, it should correspond to N8010 but are you sure that flashing a N8010 firmware will actually work?
So, i heard the 4.4.2 update is already rolling out on Europe and the US.
My Moto G arrived today, so i don't want to flash it and lose my 1 year warranty.
Does anyone know when is the OTA update going to show up in Brazil? (Since we are always left behind by manufacturers when it comes to android updates.)
I have the XT1032 model, Single-SIM, 8GB.
Sorry for the bad english.
I'm waiting too
=\
Hope that you don't forget what has promised, right motorola? --"
some sites are sayng that the main reason that the brasil updates delay is the the Dual-sim version of the moto g, that needs a specific version of kit-kat
aparently you can install the UK version ROM (only one that works with brasillian frequencies,, But only works Single SIM) if you really cant wait
Hi! I have really mysterious problem with my Moto G. I have Global GSM (because I live in Europe) , 16GB model purchased in US. Of course I'm running stock US ROM (4.4.2). Yesterday I purchased mobile data bundle from T-Mobile, then enabled it and everything was working fine for ~20 minutes. After that mobile data icon disappeared. Now every time when I try to enable mobile data icon does not appear and for example Chrome shows me that I'm offline. Is that because I'm running US ROM in Europe? Also if this is important I have little homescreen lag with stock launcher on US ROM but my friend with UK works really smooth. If so can i flash my US model to UK ROM without problems? Sorry for such dumb questions but I'm new to Android (I was running iOS before). I was searching whole Moto G forum but didn't find any familiar problem. Is there any reason or I need to flash/wipe?
I have a similar or maybe the same problem.
My mobile data drops every now and then. Most of the times it happens when I leave home in the morning. Somehow the switch from wifi at home to the mobile data does not happen and I am offline.
I did not find a solution yet other then rebooting the phone which brings back connectivity.
I found some threads in the internet where Kitkat users with different phones face similar issues, but no solution yet.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=63524
http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/saOjkcCsPSo
I believe this must be a KitKat SW issue.
Or, maybe it is a Moto G issue, because I also ordered the international model in the US and use it in Malaysia, similar to what you did. Still I tend towards a SW issue in KitKat.
I will monitor this problem and post as soon as I have a solution.
The problem is you didn't just flash the US 4.4.2 ROM, you also flashed the US MODEM firmware which is included in the Stock Firmware Images. I was having something similar happen on a UK handset with US ROM / MODEM firmware. Flashing the UK 4.4.2 Firmware Image here solved it. I suggest you don't flash another region's Modem firmware.
FYI: Custom ROMs don't normally change the Modem firmware.
Just for my understanding:
In the US there are two versions to purchase, the "US" and the "International" version.
Since I live in Malaysia I ordered the "International" version, I suppose the thread starter did the same. Would this problem still affect us??
Since I doubt Motorola will do anything, you could experiment yourself. There is a Retail Asian Stock firmware image you could try flashing and see if things improve. Also there is now a 4.4.2 Stock Retail EU firmware image.
Asian Stock Retail firmware image (4.3):

EU Stock Retail firmware image (4.4.2):

Just flash a new radio. You can download radios from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2649763
So I just purchased the 1st Gen G for an incredible price off Craigslist tonight and seeing as I'm not a card-carrying AARP member I would like your help in figuring out which Retail US firmware to flash.
Been reading [GUIDE] Moto G - Restore stock firmware and scouring the firmware downloads for Retail US XT1034 but am left scratching my head, especially in regards to the file names in the second firmware source link.
Would someone point me in the right direction?
Oh, and service will be provided by AT&T if that matters.
Also just to confirm: I don't need an unlocked bootloader to flash stock firmware?
Bonus: Any danger in flashing stock retail firmware on a carrier-branded device?
Don't want to brick this wonderfully cheap device.
Thanks XDA!:good:

From what I've seen, you do need the unlocked bootloader. Just try it on the motorola site.

Incorrect, those firmware images are supposed to be flashed on locked devices by engineers before being sold. That is why some images are carrier specific. Also you will get a 'preflash validation' error if you have updated to 4.4.4 and then try to flash a 4.4.2 image.
@ZHXS, you can flash any XT1034 firmware you want without fear. Latest 4.4.4 images are posted in this thread: (actually look through thread)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546251
There is currently no 4.4.4 Retail US XT1034 firmware image. You can flash Retail Canada for now.
my sister bought this device for my uncle from consumer cellular. it says xt1032 but in the battery it says xt1034. also the latest update is 4.4.4. how do i upgrade to lollipop?
Hi guys,
Am I mistaken or is this the last samsung note pro in the known universe to receive an update to lollipop? I understand it's been a long wait for all note pro users. Does anyone here have an idea when this particular model SM-P905 (baseband no: P905XXUANA7 build no: P905XXUANC3) will receive an update?
Chris
why wouldn't you use odin ?!

Unless I've missed something, the firmware for my specific model isn't available from sammobile, so I can't use odin to update.

I guess you don't have to flash a specific firmware since you have the international 905 model !!
Mine was from italy and i flashed UAE firmware without problems !!

Oh. I feel so newb (And I'm a tech guy...awkward....lol). Mine is running stock kitkat (4.4.2). I rooted it a while back, but so far, have not flashed it with any rom. Correct me if I'm wrong - international version means that all the LTE/radio bands are unlocked? I can't flash it with Deodex.Root.Xposed, as I'm not running stock lollipop. Which rom did u flash yours with?
Chris
You should be able to use Odin to flash any of the released 905 version lollipop updates from sammonbile. You will lose your root however.

Thanks for the link, however, I live in Australia, so according to sammobile, there's no lollipop firmware for this country:

Since your going to flash it yourself just choose any region (pick one thats on 5.1.1) and flash that. Then just change the language and time zone settings during set up and you should be good to go. Many US customers with the 905 used this method when other countries were getting the original 5.0.1 update before them. Worked fine.

Thanks for the info. Cool. I'll keep an eye out for 5.1.1. If I'm not mistaken, most are 5.0.2 at the moment, except AT&T.
