[Q] question about CWM from experienced person - General Questions and Answers

Hi I have a question concerning getting CWM installed on my RCA 7 inch tablet (RTC6272W23). It is a ROCKCHIP based device (RK3066). itis on 4.2.2. I ffound something on this website, but being new to all this stuff I was not sure if this applied to my tablet or not. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2102679. I was wondering if looks like it applied to mine or not? I only need to install CWM so I can make a complete backup of the stock ROM, I will not be using it for custom Roms. I am rooted. Thanks in advance.

Hello
Man not to be an ass or anything but everywhere I look on line all I see is how this website is so great, but I have ask questions on two different tablet on here, and no one even replies. Hey got a lot of people looking at the question. I rate this site at minus 5 stars so far

It think it can be applied to your tab... Problems are ignorable and won't cause any disturbance..
To be on safer side make sure u have backups and stock rom available

[Q] Nooby question about ROMs

Hey guys, I'm new to rooting and Androids. I couldn't find any information, so I came here for help. I have a rooted Samsung Transform.
1. Do I need to have a special ROM made for my device specifically? Or will any ROM work?
2. If so do you know of any ROMs for it?
Thanks for your time!
ROMs are made specifically for your device.

Alright, thanks! Do you (or anybody reading this) know if there are any ROMs for the Samsung Transform? I can't seem to find any...
I dont think there are goiong to be an ROMs for this device for a while, or maybe never. Its a mid ranged andriod phone so not that many people ( Compared to those with high end devices ) who are apart of XDA will get it. Also its only been out for a month or so. It just doesnt seem like there are going to be ROMs for this device currently
Yeah. I was thinking the same thing, was just hoping someone would say something different :/

How to return to stock?

I bought a used transformer this past weekend and its already running prime overclocked to 1.6ghz. My question is how do I return to stock so I can install the icecream sandwich update when it become available? Every other android device I've owned has had a one click restore of some soft but I can't seem to.find anything here like that. If someone could please point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

i believe first everyone will tell you to search extensively about your topic and the answers are available.
i will however help ya out with the specifics of what your lookin for.(and just so you know the devs will probably get you ICS before asus does or very shortly thereafter, so you might want to consider your options once you do your research)
your going to wanna look up the differences in device serial number versions the pre b70 versions and the b70+ versions. look into the sbkv1 and sbkv2(secure boot key). its very likely yours is a pre b70 which for now is probably good. the later versions have a locked bootloader and the more powerful tool nvflash doesnt work currently.
i belive yours is older (but be sure!!!) and should be able to utilize the nvflash method of unrooting/unbricking. this is what you wanna reasearch....
im in the earning process myself and want to better the transformer community anyway i can and im a firm believer that knowledge is power...............but also comes with responsibility
if you have questions by all means ask but you really should spend some time researching your device and this community and exhaust your intelligence before calling on someone elses....i say this only because many more experienced members will really get on you for asking questions you can answer your self... youve gotten this far your on the right track.
beyond that i will glady help anyone i can and im learning as well so im hungry for the info i guess...
Anyone see what im saying as wromg or misguided plz let me know....
Yeah mine is the original purchased in may.

Hello,
I agree with the question. How can I return to the Stock ROM?
At the Moment i have the Revolution HD on mein TF.
I search, but i cant find the answer
thx for your help
Heck the easiest way I know of to flash to stock is nvflash a stock ROM. Just did that to send back my TF for an RMA, No trouble at all, Snag a stock ROM from Asus website (or here on XDA). Search nvflash and you'll be good to go, Very straightforward process, really.

Thanks for your answer.
I rootet my Pad with Brks_rootkit_v7.1.
I think this program was made a backup from original stock rom befor i rootet my pad. Is this correct?
Can i use Brks_rootkit_v7.1 to become to original stock?
thx
beagle5
Yep, if you have a backup from your stock made by brks rootkit 7.1 then you can put your tablet back to stock rom.
If you don't have a backup stock rom, then go to tabletroms.com and search in the forum for asus transformer nvflash unbricking tools, this is a tool from zerofeel. This solutions works really well and I use it to keep getting back to original stock rom, before I put a new rom and kernel on my tablet.
Good-luck with it and remember use it at your own risk.
But nvflash doesn't work with b70+, is there a guide to go back without nvflash? Besides that, i got the latest DE Firmware and i want to have a possibility to go back to stock before i root..just in case...is there any way?
I think the answer is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19339153&postcount=36

Help with root and rom

Ok guys so I hate this phone, I've never wanted to punt a phone up until now, It freezes, crashes, and is extremely annoying but I thought hey maybe if I root it and install a custom rom it make my experience with this phone much better since that's how it went with my G2. I know there are plenty of roms and root instructions out there I was wondering if could get some suggestions or recommendations.
So here is my question, rooting, I found this pretty neat one click roo for this phone, do you guys suggest it? Or is there a better way of doing it?
Second question, I've seen a rom for this phone called RAGE and that's it would you guys be able to suggest a great rom for this phone?
I've only ever rooted the G2 and used CM rom, so ima little new to the rootng world.
Thank you guys so much in advace!!

[Q] Bricked GS3 - Avoid Reccurence

Hello all!
This is my first post here and I thank all for comments in advance - they are very appreciated!
So I was very new to the aspect of rooting when I first got my Sprint GS3, but I read posts here and watched many tutorials on youtube and successfully rooted my device using Odin, then using Goomanager flashed CM 10.1 without a hitch. I had a custom kernel as well ( do not remember the name ), so when I updated my ROM I went hunting for new kernels as well. On an XDA (forgot the name/link) thread I found kernels compatible for CM 10.1, but when I flashed it my phone got bricked. No drivers found, won't boot into recovery or download, taking out and replacing battery wont work - not even an LED light. I said that I lost it and received a new one, but I was wondering why it got bricked (I have a bad gut feeling I did something as dumb as getting an international version kernel as I heard they would not be compatible?) And if there are links for a kernel for a stock firmware rooted GS3 - I have not seen one and I am nervous on finding more seeing as how I already bricked one phone. Thanks for the help!!! I just want to be more educated on this so I do not have to spend another 150$ in replacements. Thanks!

Just stick with the kernel provided in the rom you are using. The developer picked or made that kernel for a reason.

The reason that I wanted another kernel is since Cyanogemods stock one does not let me OC/UV and those are options that I would like to have

Only flash kernels that are in your device threads. Next time leave out what you did to get it replaced as that is fraud and not looked at well here.

Ok that is just dumb. Make sure you understand what your doing before you do. Remember the min you flashed a custom rom. You no longer have any warranty.

I'm taking my time now and i read as much as i can to see the issues others are having. been new here is like a kid with a box of new toys "want to play with all of them at the same time". thats another reason i registered, to thank all the great developers that take time to make such a great roms for us to enjoy :good:
I had a hard brick a few months ago I sent it it in for a jtag repair and it works perfectly it is a lot cheaper than getting a replacement phone

[Q] Best Close to Stock KitKat ROM for Tab2

Hey Guys,
I'm quite a Noobie when it comes to ROMS and I haven't ventured into Custom ROMS in any way before. But, because in the infinite wisdom of Samsung (my one B!TCH) is they don't maintain support for older devices like Apple do, I need to consider updating my Tab 2 to get some decent performance.
There appears to be about 4 - 5 ROMS that are being regularly maintained and I'd like to know which one is as close to stock Samsung ROM and easy to install with no requirement to Root the device. I have installed ROMS via Odin quite a few times, so I am confident in that area.
Ones I know about:
SlimKat
CyanogenMod 11
Mokee
SOKP
Cheers and thanks
Willo
Please some help!
People aren't answering because what you're asking for isn't possible. None of them are like the Samsung ROM and they ALL require a custom recovery and root. You can't install them over Odin. If you do root then try them yourself and see which one works best for you. That's part of the fun of Android!
Not to mention you posted a question in the General forum not the Q&A forum...
