Update about to role out. - Samsung Galaxy Core

Hey Guys, there is a good news for all of Galaxy Core Duos GT i8262 users. I had sent a mail to Samsung inquiring about the next update version of android of our beloved core. So here follows their reply...
Your question
Hi, I am currently using Galaxy Core Duos, GT i8262. I was wondering that should I expect any update version of android for my phone by samsung? May it be 4.2/4.3/4.4... If yes what can be the expected month...
Thanks

Don't worry, they will roll out the update for both the phones, even if they don't it can easily be ported to I8260.

I mailed them for the i8260, just to be sure. Will post screenshots here if I get an answer.

It would be nice to get Android 4.2,4.3 or 4.4.Let as know the answer to them on any updates to the Galaxy GT-Core I8260.Signed created the petition, which will surely help

Guys, I asked it through livechat, and there is no information about an update for our Core. I showed this thread and there are no records available and he said it was most likely fake because they don't know anything. Then I asked if it was possible to submit a request so we can get a ROM and that there is a petition running, he said that it wasn't possible unfortunately and that I just needed to wait until there is more information available.
@op could you please explain this to me? Because I was getting my hopes up. I asked for both the i8260 and the i8262, no info.

Will definitely wrong they. There is still active, however, the petition

So, Galaxy Core is definitely dead phone.
There is no hope for Samsung nor developers.
Core is very good phone and i will use core a lot months ahead but this is last samsung for me - Nexus is next step.

I had sent a similar question regarding this and i got an exact same answer...

This is the formal answer they use to give if anyone asks about update, but practically there wont be any difference. In recent times Samsung haven't provide a version update to any if its middle & low range device

NGA Developers is a site created for phones that may not have a stable home in the android community. This site is still in its new-born stages, and fast growth is promised as time progresses. I just felt like everyone should have a home in the android community, and that includes phones that may not be as developmentally popular as the Evo 3D or Sensation XE. All that is left to be done is release some feature and purchase an official domain, but before any of that is done, we need a dedicated community to help us out.
Just a quick note. On the forums, in order to access your phone's forum section, click the name of the manufacturer of your phone, then navigate to the phone itself (I.E. to get to the Samsung Galaxy Gio, begin by clicking Samsung on the forum home, and then select the Galaxy Gio's forum section, and there you go!) Just felt I needed to add that little note to avoid confusion!
So without further ado, head over to NGA Developers and make yourself at home. Also, PLEASE read the front page story titled "Welcome to NGA Developers, A Home for Many." Thank you all.

[IMPORTANT] [GUIDE] Getting ICS test builds from Samsung. [Community Project]

Hello guys, with your help, i think we could pressure samsung to release their ICS test builds (with RAM issues) - if they even exist in the first place.
To help, you just have to follow extremely simple steps:
STEP 1:
Enter this website..
STEP 2:
Fill all the required fields.
And insert the following in the message section (Credits to Hetalk):
Dear customer service representative
From previous conversations and official samsung updates, I understand Samsung did try to get ICS working for this device(Samsung S LCD GT-I9003).
It would be really helpful to developers, who are helping a lot of device owners, have a taste of this wonderful version of android, if samsung can help supply whatever source code they had when they tried to get ICS working for this phone.
It will also underline samsung's commitment to their customers of providing them best experience and support.
Hopefully, you will look into this and do the correct thing by supplying source codes, to make sure we stay samsung customer when we plan a new device.
Regards

Or you could be more rude (no swearing, just more aggressive), you can edit that message to suit your needs, and level of anger
STEP 3:
You'll receive an answer in about 24/48 hours.
The answer will *probably* be "We don't have plans to update the GT-I9003 to ICS.
Post the answer in this topic so we take a look at how they're reacting to the huge requests.
Now, reply to that message with the following (Credits to Hetalk):
Dear representative
Your response didn't even remotely answer my query or request.
Please read again and advise.
Regards
<insert name here>

Here, you can also edit it to suit your needs.
STEP 4:
Wait for their answer again and post it here.
*Will update when someone reaches this step).
STEP 5:
Please share this topic with anyone that cares, upload the link in your signature, tell your friends and family!
The main key of success here is numbers, huge complaints = Samsung will probably notice us.
Good luck.
-Skander.
Worth a try.
We have nothing to lose. So we should try.

Alright! pressure time, contact em all.
Nice idea. Give me their email id to contact them.
Less ram is just a fake reason for not providing ICS. If we observe carefully Nexus S which was produced by samsung itself has nearly same specs, same ram etc. but still it gets jellybean update officially by google. Then why not our phone...???

The problem is that ugly touchwiz.
Anyways, here's the link: http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=inquiry
As per my personal experience touch wizard takes less ram as compared to go launcher ex which I always use. But still I always get nearly 220 mb free ram for usage.
Samsung is just giving us excuses for not giving ICS.

That depends, in new valuepacks, touchwiz itself shows how bad it's optimized.
They simply don't want to waste their time with our device, so getting the things they already worked on for developers is enough i guess.
Skander1998, just copy paste your question here and whoever wants to email samsung, will send that same email thru the link.
I'll change it a bit to make sure it goes thru if they could make something that would filter the standard text out.
---------- Post added at 08:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:02 PM ----------
Email sent, albeit a fairly polite one, for a start.
Message:
According to Samsung the device won't receive an ICS update because of RAM issues, but did samsung even develop a working (or partially working) ICS build to find out the RAM issues in the first place ?
If so is there any possibilities for making those source codes open source for download?
Developers in XDA are currently porting CM9 to this device, and those sources (If even available) might be helpful to finally get a working ICS custom ROM.
I do understand that it's not Samsung's job to help with such stuff, but if the work is there sharing it would be helpful.
You can refer to this thread for the development topic on XDA:

Actually they have wasted so much time to give updates from 2.3.4 to 2.3.6 firmware update. Actually they just dont want to work on building kernel 3.x on OPAM 3630 chipset which they have rarely used for android devices. Anyway I have mailed them. I dont know how to mail in correct manner but I have used little rude language so that they should understand how much people are frustrated with samsung attitude.

And there is another problem...other company will sold us a machine that has a programation that can make a daily usage kernel for A LOT OF DEVICES. They want 250€ for the machine and its pattents.
I haven't got such money fot buy both things, but with the help of this crear comunity, we'll win our price!

One of the problem is that kernel un alpha version doesn't work in all Galaxy SL. I have bricked 2 phones with the kernel and it works in other 3.
It's very dangeorus to bring an alpha now.
Only solution is the other.
It's very dangerous...

Tomorrow I'll upload a pair of screenshots
i think you should contact the devs of this device and discuss stuff with them .. try to contact dhiru1602 , adipat , hetalk , lolation and vishal to show wt you have
alot of people say they can provide kernel 3
even the greatest devs as Dhiru hillbest and that we were rocked on android
I really do not understand why way this developer did not disclose it on XDA if prentend
and if I pay I might not get anything given the context
Time of need we more valid argument
if you have the kernel to take a screenshot for us to prove
it is easy to extract the kernel and let us share
I can not understand, then excuse me
Hi!
I have read your comments and I have decided one thing. I have a lot of work now. Then, I will show the screenshots and then, I'll continue the development without the money. I don't wanna make you feel obligued to pay anything.
Cheers!
OK goodluck man .. we wait your prove to kernel 3 ..
Waiting screnshots and then you will begin the story ..
Hope best

sorry but i lost you there....what machine is this ??? that too patented ???? dafuq
Who is this guy? He's never developed anything, he/she just made this profile on XDA to scam you guys. Stop giving him attention. If he were a proper dev, he'd know how to write "programation" (code).
I'll stop here, report this thread, and so should you.
Before there is any proof, and I seriously don't take screenshots as some kind of proof, I will consider this a scam to the community. If he really finished the work, he should publish the source code in github as a valid proof or something for me to have a look. And I don't believe that the €250 machine exists. Dear mods, please take your action immediately.

Wow...now a days this xda community is a joke. Anyway lets suppose this guy is has really developed kernel 3.0 then only screenshot is not enough for me. Screenshots can be developed easily with helpof photoshop But we want source code with debugging log, kmesg log, dmesg log....every type of log which can prove that kernel 3.0 is actually booting.
But if this guys failed to show such proof then get ready for lifetime ban.
fake
I hope this is not fake. But you do not have anything to make me believe you.
Please provide absolute proof by supplying the info asked for already. Until then I also feel this is leaning towards a spam and I am locking this thread until such proof can be verified. Saying you have access to a "machine" that will bring everything everyone wants for this device but then saying (with very few posts and a newer account) "hey give me money, I'll buy it for you" seems a little fishy, sorry.

[Thread] Source code for Galaxy S Advance

Hello to all,
I am here today to ask you why the Samsung does not release the source code, have been released for the Galaxy SIII Mini which has the same processor Novator U8500 and why but we do not have anything yet, maybe it will be a topic a bit useless but if you know why do not hesitate to write
Edit. The source code are here: Source Code for GT-I9070 and GT-I9070P
I think they know about that... and I presume these are not the sources they are looking for..
Nice, but I think that devs has knowledge about this... I think that those drivers are not enough for some issues in CM-based ROMs.
They'd have probably know this before hand

Those are the kernel sources not the cpu sources. Novathor is from st ericsson and not from samsung. Samsung must relase the kernel sources because android is open source but ste is free to relase or not their cpu sources

Let's Spam OSRC TEAM / Request for New Kernel Source Code for Galaxy S Advance device
Looks like we do not need a special thread to make a request the source code of the kernel, to TIM OSRC samsung, because there is already a thread that has been recommended by the engine of this forum when I was trying to make a new thread. Perhaps you can do to participate as well. Here ....!!!
And also you can report the latest results of our efforts in this thread too, I guess. Hopefully it can become a reality.
Regards.
It's a great idea to spam Sammy in request for the newest sources...sinces they have had the chance to update the kernel recently (compiled in January, released in Jule almost August?? sounds fishy...) They maybe know something we don't...maybe theres official kitkat after all...hell maybe theres Android L at the end of the tunnel, yeah i'm specula...i'm fantasizing...but i don't really see why suddenly update a device that is EOL since 4.1.2, 2 years ago.
We have the sources the user from china uploaded here on new year's eve but i thing no one has used them...or has used them to rewrite their own from scratch....so maybe new sources directly from samsung is both legally and perfomance wise for our phone.
Novafusion guys (maclaw) started spam sammy with an "example" message, and apparently it worked...i don't know if they have something new but they got a letter from sammy saying they would update sources.
I think the best way would be that...create a message that we just C&P spammin Sammy OSRC till they release something, but then again, just my 2 cents.

I think the best way would be that...create a message that we just C&P spammin Sammy OSRC till they release something, but then again, just my 2 cents.

I think that we need NovaThor sources (ST Ericsson), and they does not exist anymore.

I am aware of that also, problem is, who can we ask for sources...best case scenario Sammy releases their ST sources, but theres the legal barrier that altough neither Ericcson nor STMicroelectronics are taking liability of both the sources and the R&D invested, Novathor and all things related are now a STMicroelectronics product...and they are having a hard time.
From my PPOV, STM is gonna keed everything closed, use it later to make a new plataform (i think theyre with NEC now or some Chinese subsidiary in a joint venture), i really don't know if after a time of not using the plataform or by being cancelled they have to legally open their sources...or if theres a "expiration date" on them.
Since Sammy uses Novathor in 3 or 4 phones and Sony used it in almost all their phones in 2012(?) we are left with whats being already used.
I don't have any knowledge about the content of the leaked sources from the Xperia forum that the guy from China uploaded but i thought for a while they were just as good as our devs had already built isn't?

Not sure that STMicroelectronics cares much about Android anymore, other competitors didn't won anything from competing against Qualcomm and Samsung (with the Exynos), because they haven't done any major advances in performance or power consumption, also, Google strongly favors Qualcomm CPUs, they even use them on their Nexus devices for the most part (except Nexus 7 I think, because it uses NVIDIA Tegra, if I remember correctly), hope you remember Texas Instruments, big player, choosed to part ways with Android and most of their ARM stuff.
I wrote this on the other thread requesting kernel source. Unless Samsung has the igloo 3.4 kernel converted/hacked to work on janice (which was a rumor when we heard that was preparing a 4.2/4.3 OTA) hidden somewhere in Korea and they release that, not sure anything they could release would made a major impact on performance or battery duration.
What we are missing? Hm, a proper RIL (that is not the one I made, but should work with most Samsung libril.so's), and maybe some access to the Samsung Secondary bootloader (they won't release that even if they were drunk and on drugs)
Hey guys, it seems our efforts succeed.

I do not think so. I have noticed before, that the source code from the list of site pages OSRC there are only 20 sources for variant GT-I9070. And with the addition of a new source code told by them yesterday via email, the list has now become 21 source code.

Hmmm ... I guess you could ask them something more specific, perhaps my friends. If I see from their reply, it seems not so clear about what you mean from the email you send to them.
But, if what you ask is the same as what I or other users who ask here before as well, I think you can ignore the reply from their email.

So does this means a new kernal can be compiled for our device just like S3 mini???
But what kind of kernel does s3 mini have?! Isn't it just a 3.0.x kernel built from Samsung sources??
It will be merged with CM11 Sourch like what said by frapeti

Guys, before I answer your questions and refer to those concerned about the (current) of course. There are some things we have to think about it together. namely:
1. Our developers for now almost many are turning to other devices. It was miserable.
2 Only a few people (or more) that has a device janice from the developers had in this forum.
3 For this moment (maybe) we will still get a ROM update for Janice (Either Codina), but it was developed without a device (Surely "Janice experiment") is supposed by the developer. This is ironic. You can imagine how a carpenter make a house without equipment repairman? It was impossible guys!.
4 Related to your question above, then that should answer that, perhaps @Rox or @Paul L.
5. Honestly I will feel less excited again for a peek every thread of this forum, immediately after hearing the news that uncomfortable. Sorry for that.
Oh, yes, don't forget to always hope for the good of Janice. Because I've always believed in the magic of his.

i will prefer Android 4.2.2 operating system...
Cearly Andoid (with CyanogenMod).
I also tried iOS for about a year and somehow it is as if you are locked up in jail. admittedly a very stylish jail.
Android!
I am currently loving android 4.2.2 (slim bean) however once Ubuntu for phones is optimized and completed I feel this may steal the spot as best mobile os. I've used the new blackberry os and ios 6 and still just love android haha. The simplicity of ios is nice for less advanced users though.

Honery? I have no idea what you're talking about. I was answering his question as to my opinion on the best OS. As to calling me a noob for saying my opinion, I'd say you're just being a hypocrite. I can't answer questions on my opinion without being labelled as a noob? Oh, please.
EDIT: I don't know, I sure didn't spam, disrespect or flame the OP. Can't see that I broke any XDA rules.

Ok check this, the guy asked a simple question... "In your opinion what is the best mobile operating system today?"and your reply was this..... "I definitely prefer iOS and its wonderfully locked in system. Like, seriously, dude?"Now is that being a nice guy?Is it?yea i didnt think so,just be nice thats all i asked and as far as being a hypocrite,do you know me?do you come to my house and eat at my table?Yea well then how do you know im a hypocrite?and noone said you broke any rules,so dont have such a guilty conscience.
RootBox 4.2.2 for the win! Of course android is the best in a landslide....number one reason....unlockability and customization.
