Let me start by stating I am not a developer nor do I have any desire to be a developer. I have an idea for an app but I do not know what to do to see my idea to fruition.
From those who have developed and (published) apps:
- what are the best steps to go from theory to an actual published app?
- what specific types of people should I bring on the project? (developer, programmer, marketer, lawyer, etc.)
- what is the approximate time frame and momentary costs associated with developing an app?
- what are some of the pitfalls of developing an app?
- should I apply for an utility patent? If so, at what stage of the process should I do so?
Any and all information will be appreciated.
Anyone?

Hi All,
Has anyone gotten any details of Android bug 8219321 being discussed in the media? That's the Android master key talk coming up at Black Hat. AOSP bugs reporter is not showing any information (http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/list).
I'm wondering if the platform builders are using the default keys. Marko Gargenta discusses the four default keys briefly in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NS46492qyJ8. (Excellent video, btw).
Are there any controls we can place to mitigate the possible threats (assuming they are threats)?

From everything I have read, this 'bug' won't really affect anyone unless somebody manages to get malicious code onto your Android device. Therefore, the best way to limit the risk is to only install reputable apps from the Play Store - don't use other dubious sites or .apk copies, don't install brand new, unproven apps etc.

Thanks, I've been reading that stuff too. From http://bluebox.com/corporate-blog/bluebox-uncovers-android-master-key/:
Device owners should be extra cautious in identifying the publisher of the app they want to download.
Enterprises with BYOD implementations should use this news to prompt all users to update their devices, and to highlight the importance of keeping their devices updated.
IT should see this vulnerability as another driver to move beyond just device management to focus on deep device integrity checking and securing corporate data.
This advice is useless. For example, "device owners should be extra cautious in identifying the publishers [sic]." The code signing model using self signed certificates does not lend itself to identifying anyone. The relationship that exists is between Google and the publisher; and does not extend to the user. The only thing self-signed certificates ensures is that an app can only be updated by the same author. Even Apple or Microsoft's PKI and code signing model do not make those guarantees (read their CPS'es some time).
Below is from Nikolay Elenkov in an off-list reply. Nikolay does excellent work with Android security (http://nelenkov.blogspot.com/), and can be often found hanging out on Android Security Discussions (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/android-security-discuss).
They are using the 'master key' phrase to hype this up, but this has nothing to do with keys. This is related to the way Android verifies APK (JAR) signatures. A specially crafted APK can be repackaged without invalidating the original signature....

But, I have several question, hope someone can help me.
1. What else feature that you want suggest me add into the website?
2. Anyone have suggestion for me to work on marketing / SEO?

Suggestions:
- you can represent to 5 or top 10 apps as graphs in Apps Statistics and Developers Statistics
- you can put a description page describing how this tool could be used.
- put a about us page

Working with startups can be both challenging and rewarding. For a small design/dev shop this can mean operating under strict time and budget constraints. On the other hand, nothing can be more exciting when millions of people use the product you created. That is why i wanna share my experience with you and recommend you to check web development service cause that guys can create everything and help you with some marketing/seo.
Hello!
I am interested in creating an app that interacts similar to a pregnancy/fertility app - with a user specific timeline and information. I do not know how to code and have been looking into some online app building and managment systems. Many of the programs online look like they can build apps for events, businesses, rewards, etc...
My question is, does anyone know if there is a system out there that can deliver user specific content? For example, if I enter a date of an event (like a pregnancy due date) as I approach that date relevent information is delivered to me (at 3 months, 6 months, etc..). Any insight would be very appreciated!
Thanks!
If you don't know how to code you have two options:
1) Pay someone to do it , maybe 20k will be enough.
2) Design you app on paper , and try to find a partner.
my two cents and good luck
Appideas is a storage as well as a support for creative developers with ideas for apps and game. No matter where you are when the inspiration comes along, with this app you will not lose any ideas.
Select a category, where the planned app belongs to, choose a name, describe the basic idea and save the base frame until you find the time to develop the project.
App Ideas also offers you support your running projects. Changed your idea from the theoretical state into practical development, you have the ability to note individual subgoals as well as emerging bugs and work through it step by step and fix it. The development is divided into 2 stages, called Alpha and Beta, so after the first goals have been achieved, you send your app in the second phase and can register new destinations and mistakes. Futhermore you can stay connected with potential partners and mutually transmit tasks.
Has your idea become a finished app, it is stored in the Release-folder.
You can use App Ideas, made in beautiful material design for free up to four ideas. If you need more capicity, you can aquire the Pro-version. This is possible in two ways, which are explained to you in the menu of the free version.

I appologize if this is a dumb question, but I am new to app development, altough some experienced in php/html.
I want to create an app where user fills in forms. The app development is easy to find info about, but i also want a back end plattform where I read the submitted forms and organize users.
So, my question. Is there a sort of ready wordpress like plattform to customize, or should this be built from scratch? If so, which platform is the best?
One note I should add about Buddy (full disclosure: I work there) is that we maintain independent instances of the platform in different locations around the world. If you need to host your backend in Europe (for response time or data sovereignty reasons, for example), you can choose your app backend to be sandboxed in the EU. Likewise the US and likewise China (with Brazil, Singapore and Australia coming soon).
he best way to develop mobile apps is to use REST services. So now you can choose any thing.
Any language that can used for server side programming can be used.
Now it is up to you choose the language.
If you familiar with JavaScript then you can try nodejs. You can make small app server in it.
But if your server software design is very complex (containing threads and synchronisation) then java can be handy.
But there is no restriction of language.
Firebase should be also a way to go for this.
The best android back end services include, Parse, Kumulos, Kinvey, backendless, QuickBlox.
Concerning the forms where users can fill up information, would something like help out?

On Apple's platform you might need an iPhone developer - it is quite possible to create and publish an iPhone app using your form.
I did take the help of mobile apps development service in toronto to know the process which is described here: http://support.brightcove.com/en/app-cloud/docs/step-step-guide-publishing-apple-app-store-using-mac

I have heard good things about Hasura (Not affiliated in anyway). And I think parse - mentioned above - is no longer available.
I'm wondering why nobody mentioned Google CLoud or AWS. They are most mobile friendly for a good price
Hi, if you will decide to build from scratch, there are different options/frameworks. But If you use kotlin you should look to Ktor.
Backend options for an Android app
Here, The list of good backend options for an Android app:
1. Parse.
2. Back4app.
3. Firebase.
4. Kinvey.
5. Appcelerator.
