First 10% (from 100%-90%) seem to go very fast? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Maybe not VERY fast, but definitely a lot quicker than say 70%-60%, or 50%-40%, etc... anyone else notice that and happen to know why?

Yeah, same here and have no idea why.

I hope that's the case. .. I got the hyperion 6500 battery. Today's first full charge. 100 to 90 in less than 20 minutes

I wouldn't worry about that so much as total battery life.
Lithium Ion batteries are constantly degrading, and they have those smart circuits that may need a full discharge/full charge cycle to reset the low and high markers. That could be the cause of your observations (the high marker on your battery is no longer where it used to be, therefore the first 10% reading might be off).... but I doubt it because the phones are so new.

Yeah I'm going to do a full drain. Other than that, I love my s5 I always gotta get the extended battery

My theory, Samsung fakes the battery percentage and adds the extra juice to the last 10% so they can make the claim for "24 hours on ultra power saving mode with just 10% battery remaining."

Extended Battery

For users who purchased the extended battery (2200mah), how much bigger (physical size) is it then the 1500mah default battery?
2200 mAh is actually a fairly nice battery. My Droid X extended battery is only 1930 mAh but i get ~13-17 hours of battery life and the X has a huge LCD display. I could only imagine what the Fascinate would get with that big a battery and Super AMOLED haha.
The word according to a bunch of tests is the Droid X has the best battery life, about 3 hours than the SGS line on a single charge. On average with my Epic I'm getting about 12 hours without recharge, so a 2200 mAh battery should go roughly 18 hours. Again, mileage will vary from user to user. I do what I would consider is around heavy usage.
Just traded Droid X in for Fascinate and had the extended battery for the X. They gave me the extended battery as an even exchange for the SGS and I am seriously considering returning the thing. It is Ginormous and makes the phone look disgusting. The X's extended battery at least kept the phone looking good.
i'm very curious about the extended battery and the cover that comes with it. could you post a pic of the phone with them installed, plz?
The thing is huge.

Hmmmm makes he think twice about it now... I can't go twelve hours on standby without the phone going completely dead. The battery life I'm getting is the worst ever. How can it die so fast when its not being used at all?

i get 12-14 hrs without dropping down to 1/2 battery with calls paired w/bluetooth headset ,web, texting, emails, twitter, and beautiful widgets all running !! this is one of the best batteries on a android phone ive had so far !! right up there with my droidx !!
I gotta say it a great battery but I must decide what is more important to me longer battery or a case with belt clip hmmmm.

I'd rather carry an extra stock battery, then deal with that.
With the extended battery in.... It looks like the phone is pregnant, lol.

Not sure what's up with yours, but mine gets fantastic battery life. Full charge at 8am and I go a day and a half with moderate-to-heavy call/text/game/web use. I'm extremely impressed with the battery life. My girlfriend hardly uses her's except for web browsing on lunch, and she almost squeezes 3 days out of it!

New 2750 mah battery, best way to break it in?

Hey guys I just upgraded to the extended battery and was wondering the best way to properly break in and how long to charge for the first time, any help would be appreciated thanks

The best way I've seen, in my experience, to "train" a battery is to use it until it dies and then leave it charging overnight.
Yeah I would just let the battery do a couple charge and discharges

No need to do that with lithium batteries, they have no memory. This practice is from the old days of nickel cadmium batteries.

That may be true of the battery but is not for the phone.
Li battery's don't have a liner discharge and each battery has a different personalty lot to lot.
The phone learns the curve of the battery through discharge, so letting it discharge completely once or twice helps the phone more accurately display how much battery is left.
Oh okay guys, thanks fyi this battery is a huge improvement, I def recommend it, I actually used my phone quite a bit and from all day use only used 27 percent of battery and had data on, normally with barely any use id lose around 60 percent if not more with data off.. def like my thunderbolt again
edit: I'm on 3g only so I don't know how battery life would improve on 4g..

just to warn you.. i dont know what rom you are using, but keep an eye on the battery gauge while you are actually using the phone and make sure it's not 'sticking'.. i was running froyo bamfs on my extended and my percentage wouldn't properly update and i would have to restart it to update it or it would jsut randomly show up after a while... anywho i ended up going to GB and back to the stock battery, i hate how f***ing big that stupid thing is... its like holding a house phone.
You should probably clear battery stats and run a battery calibration app so it doesn't stick
Drive it like ya stole it!
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
Yeah I always calibrate with every new rom install, but went ahead and did it on the new battery once I was at 100, the battery isn't so bad once you get used to it, the case can have a big difference on the feel of extended battery.
Mostly I love the fact I can use the phone to the fullest and not have to sacrifice anything and still have 70 percent at the end of the night

Ontrion LifeCHARGE Battery Case

http://www.androidguys.com/2013/10/08/ontrion-lifecharge-battery-case-samsung-galaxy-s4-review/
I just saw this last night. Has anyone tried this case out yet? It looks intriguing. After adding the case, you're looking at about 4800 while keeping the slim design of the phone. Definitely an interesting concept.
Pelvic bump.
Surprised there's not more interest in this.

Yes.
The battery is being charged 24 hours a day. These cases kill the battery very fast by putting them under that kind of duress.

thats why you just turn off charging on the battery case. duh. But having a battery you can swap out anytime sorta kills this idea. So................... but for some reason i like the idea. weird.

This. You wouldn't switch on the charging when it's close to 95%. I turn it on when it's at 5% or less.
My Charging Case.
I don't have the exact same model but I do have a charging case and I love it. My battery would deplete quickly since I play music while working and emulators when I'm not. It can easily go 2 full days and a bit without touching a wall charger and almost 4 days if I don't play games or music. Your mileage may vary depending on what ROM you have running.

That's why you don't leave the charging on...the idea of a charging case is to be able to have a backup when your phone is low on battery. Obviously for a phone like the S4, it's not as sensible because you can just buy an extra battery and swap it. But it's still a cool concept.

Extended Slim Battery

Just received my 4300 mAh Battery from MPJ For my SM-G900T. I will be seeing if it is any good been waiting for like 3 weeks for it. I am hoping to get battery life close or better then my LG G Flex. I'll let you guys know if anything. Also if you have gotten extended batteries for your S 5. let me know what brand, how many mAh it has and how much was it.

This is what i got with the Battery. Its pretty good. It drops from 100 really fast. You hit 80 in no time. I'm not sure if the phone can read it or not. After that it holds for awhile. I usually charge my phone at work. Where I basically spend my day watching movies. I feel if you use it light to medium you can get easy over 10 hours battery. If heavy use then you get about 8. So all in all its a decent battery for the price
Sent from my SM-G900T
This is with heavy use. The other was light use with about 3 hours screen time
Sent from my SM-G900T
I use the anker 7500 mah extended battery. I can easily get 30+ hours now even with heavy use. Only downside is it's heavy as hell.. Lol
Will look into this if my battery drains quick. Cheers.

Battery Life Extension

To maximize battery life (I mean not how long it will last between charges but to maximize the long term lifetime of the battery - over the course of years...) you should never let the % get too low, but keep it topped off as much as possible, correct?
Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
Very true...
People keep showing off screen on times by draining their batteries to 5% or below, which in turn is hurting their overall battery health..It's advised to keep charging the phone frequently whenever the opportunity presents to charge and to keep the battery levels in between 30% to 80% most of the time... Especially since it's a non removable battery here on Note 5.
Came across many articles on Web regarding this subject.
