Hi, my G2x has this really bright LED light that goes for a good 5 seconds before it actually takes a picture. Is there anyway to stop this? If I'm on the receiving end it blinds me, as it does other people when getting their picture taken.
Its for the auto focus. It will remain lit for as long as it takes to focus. Not sure if you can disable but doing so would also disable its ability to focus.

Actually, it sounds more like the red-eye reduction flash mode to me. Instead of using "Auto" for your flash setting, try manually setting the flash type you want to use.
is this a serious question? TURN OFF THE FLASH!

Is that a serious answer? If you turn off the flash then the picture will come out dark, he is refering to the light that comes on before the flash.
Yea I just had some pics taken with my phone. It was dark, and when they hit the button, the LED light came on for like 3-4 seconds, then flickered while it took the pic.
My Nexus One did the same thing. It is for the focus, since we have an auto-focusing lense.
the back camera doesn't have any focus moves, when taking pictures close up, it doesn't do macro even if u set it to. bar code apps do not work at all. please help. currently running Ota 2.3.4, did not try the camera before the update.
Hold yr finger down on the camera button, it then focuses, release to take the shot, well that's how my i9023 works.

thanks, sure I did that all the time.
I have a i9023 and the camera works perfect. Try to restore your camera settings.
Or maybe you have a broken camera!
The button is so freaking sensitive. Camera took 186 pictures of my ceiling last night while I was sleeping because the pillow on the seat barley touched it. Last night I put my feet on the table and from the vibrations the camera turned on and took pictures. One point it came on and I switched to video camera to see what it's doing, and with out pressing the button the video camera would start and stop recording. I got the phone yesterday :-( I put on the pattern lock to stop it somehow but the screen still turns on and I know from my G2 that it will kill the battery no matter what you do on Android. Any help?

Interesting...I haven't had this issue with the camera button.

oright cool, thanks guys. Thought it was the whole "phone built around the camera" concept that they thought it was a good idea to be able to take picture quickly. Thanks guys.
Yeah, there's definitely something wrong with your phone.
One of the MyTouch 4Gs issues is one of it's features..
you can activate the camera, even with the screen locked by holding down the shutter button. Sure it's good for those quick shots, but it's giving you an issue.
However to have a button that sensitive is not normal, please return it and get yourself one that works.
OP, just to be clear, which button are you referring to when you say, the camera button?Do you mean the silver one on the bottom right side of the phone?
Yeah I hardly touched it and it would start the camera. I'm back to using my G2 till T-Mo loyalty sends me another new one. Thanks for the help guys.
Why can't HTC fix this? They are blurry because the shutter is too fast and the light doesn't stay on long enough, whereas the galaxy s3 turns the light on, focuses, than takes the pictures.
Seems like an easy software fix

i am also having the same problem did you manage to find a solution
I have no idea why but I seem to have problems on my Z3 nobody else has, it's weird. But anyway. This happens everytime and it does happen whenever the front facing camera starts, regardless of the app including the stock camera app. Whenever I try to take pictures with the front-facing camera in bed (with my phone facing down) the screen shuts itself a few seconds after the camera starts.
My phone is totally stock, has Apex Launcher installed. I don't know if that'll help find out the issue. Thank you for helping this noob.

Hahaha I should! But it just leaves me wondering why it happens!
I just checked, mine does not do that....
I don't know why it's happening to you, I'm guessing Sony's "adult content filter" must be active.
Try clearing camera app cache or a restart.

Haha, I only did it once and I promise my face wasn't that inappropriate!
Anyway, I have yet another issue on this problem, and that it doesn't do that only when the front camera is on, I was laying in bed watching a video on Instagram and I put the Z3 closer to my ears to hear better, and yes the screen turned off again. I promise I didn't touch any button, it just did it on its own.
