Have an sgh I747 att galaxy 3,
My issue and question, i have had this phone for a while it has seen a LOT of abuse, have replaced busted screen 2 times!
with that in mind latest issue and yes did factory reset and have 4.3., camera shows nothing on screen and says a error, also wifi will not turn on at all slide to turn never connects goes to off position, ni assume due to many drops the board had said enuff, !
now my question if i buy a new logic board / mother board will i have issues connecting to my provider? AT&T, imei # and so forth, or will popping in my sim negate that issue?

hey guys!
I have a bit of a puzzeler on my hands, hopefully you guys may be able to help me out!
I have the Htc sensation 4g from Vrigin canada
A few days ago i noticed that my signal strength was at 0, and i was unable to make any calls or surf the web.
So i go to virgin, and they set me up with a new sim (or three) to no avail.
I then call tech support, and they inform me that, simce my phone is over one year old, i cannot have the phone covered under the warrenty , no insurance me must fix the phone myself.
some information about the phone : I am s-off, running the latest radio (from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202867 ) on android revolutions's stock ics.
I believe i have tried everything, but maybe i missed something, here is what i have tried:
remove battery
factory reset
new sim
update radio
update ril
update firmware
lift connectors on back of phone to insure proper connection to back cover
try new back cover
remove old sim/sd reader replace with new sim/sd reader
return to stock rom
So that's that, what do you guys think? Do I have a bad radio transmitter/receiver? bad main board?
Every thing else on the phone works, even the wifi and fm radios.
I have noticed that occationally the phone will show a couple bars, but upon calling it says that i am not registered on the network. most of the time the phone reads no signal no network provider under settings->about phone->network
I really appreciate any insight that you may be able to offer!!
Thanks!

So your provider is not willing to help? If you are paying your provider monthly and your device isn't registering on there network I would give them a call. Simply state your device is no longer registering on there network and ask them what are they going to do about it? I would be furious if they refused to help me because device is out of warentee! Sounds like your kind of stuck . You have tried everything. Perhaps give your provider one more call and see if they can at the very least trouble shoot your device. Just because your device is out of warentee don't mean you still don't pay them monthly for service. By chance have you tried a new sim card? Just a thought....I do hope you get this issue solved soon. Best wishes
sent from HTC sensation, soff, 3.33 firmware, viper Rom, sense 4.1, mugen battery. please press thanks if I helped in anyway.
thanks for the advice, I believe that I will give them a call tomorrow and see if there is anything that they can do for me...
ok guys, I managed to get my phone signal back up and going once again, but it was no easy matter. for those who may happen along from Google or what not, here is the solution:
Buy a sensation with a busted screen, remove guts, place in your phone, re assemble, make phone calls again.
I initially just swapped out the main boards, thinking that the problem was with the antenna connections or something. I put my phone back together and still nothing. deflated.
I took the phone back apart and swapped in the flex cable, antenna connector cable, and the board at the top of the phone. after putting it all back together everything worked, I'm thinking that replacing the top portion of the main board was all that needed to be done; I replaced everything just to be safe.
so there you have it, i hope this helps anyone who stumbles upon this with a similar problem. my problem was a hardware problem.

Good day, today I dropped my phone don't know if it lost signal after this didn't notice until I tried to make a phone call but now there no signal, can't make or receive calls, I notice that at the bottom of the screen it shows my service provider name and next to it says no service so don't know it its hardware related or sim, do you think that if I reset the phone it might work again? Thanks. Right now can't test because I'm at work, but in general information on service it says disconnected

Flash stock with fastboot, if it's the same, it's hardware I'm afraid.
Thanks a lot did already, tried everything seems hardware related, noticed that it also lost nfc connection wondering rich part should I replace to fix it, if only has to do with antenna or the whole mainboard
The NFC radio and antenna are connected to the back cover. Try popping your back cover off and on again.

Thanks already did and nothing, could it be related to some other piece?
go to your dialer app and type in #*06*# and see if a number pops up (your imei number) (dont post the number here)
Did too, also the *#*#4636#*#* and checked if signal was turned on, tried sim in other phones works without problems, I noticed that nfc is not working too, guess it has to do with a piece of hardware as far as I know both antennas are in the back of the phone. Took it to service and they told me it has no problem physically, this is driving me crazy
Also checked that it has no reports of being stolen, imei seems correct and legit checked it also on a site to see if it's valid and its working, it starts with a 32.
My phone wouldn't connect to any network after being in airplane mode on vacation for a week, acted like no signal - empty triangle instead of bars. I called my cell provider (T-Mobile) and after a new SIM and a factory reset they did something on their end because my phone was trying to connect to a tower that didn't exist. I'm a little fuzzy on what they actually did, but it worked. I actually had to do it twice over a couple weeks before it stopped giving me trouble.

Hello
Hello guys, I am on the same boat as Valholy described.
My phone fell on the ground from my hands. When I took the phone from the ground... it was still working(it wasn't shutdown nor restart), I only noticed that there was no more signal. Tried to restart/shutdown, factory reset, different sim card but no luck at all... As Valholy described it shows provider's name on the bottom of the screen, but there is no signal yet.. It seems like hardware issue. Any recommendation to fix this issue?
Did you fix your phone yet, Valholy?
Thank you
bump...
any help please.
thank you
Hello all, this is my first post and also please move if in wrong place.
I have had a off the shelf, not locked to a network Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 for a couple of years now without issue except that it would take sometimes 5 minutes to join the Orange network and get a signal, other times it might be a minute, or then it might be on the network as soon as the phone booted. I just lived with this "little pain in the bum" problem.
I rooted the phone so I could remove un-needed pre-installed apps, to free some space, which worked, but I already had the signal issue before this so I don't believe this made it worse. Last few days I sold it on ebay to be told by the buyer that it would not connect to the network no matter what sim was installed. I now have the phone back with a view to fixing the problem. They basically were not waiting long enough for it to connect to the network, which is fair enough as it should connect quickly.
I have used the following sims, all connecting to the network eventually: Orange, O2 and Vodafone. - This is the same behaviour as before I sold it but just lived with it, but it is clearly a problem.
My findings are that when I first turn on the phone and *#06# the IMEI is null / null. Leave the phone and it will show the REAL IMEI which is printed under the battery and once the IMEI is shown, it will connect to any network. So I don't think it is a fake IMEI problem as it will find the real one. I have also always had a issue with GPS being very poor.
I have tried to backup / restore the EFS folder but it made no difference. I unrooted to the stock ROM before I sold it, re-rooted etc but nothing changes. The IMEI eventually is found and the phone works without any issues.
Hopefully someone will have an idea of where to start to try and fix this issue.
Many thanks in advance.
Woosh
I have also found that the baseband version is also not available to start with. Everything happens together, the IMEI number, the baseband version and connection to phone network all appear to happen at the same time.
I have just re-flashed to stock rom with no change to the delay in getting the IMEI etc. KIES also does not recognise the phone until the missing details are found and then KIES is happy.
Anyone?
I have a nexus 5 "hammerhead" running the latest version of android marshmallow 6.0.1 .
My issue is, the device wont detect any network signal. At first i thought it was a software issue so I downgraded to lollipop and kitkat but the same issue still exist.
All I see is the network provider name, and beside it 'No Service'. I really dont know what else to do, unless this is a hardware issue. Anyone here had experienced the same issue and have it solved? Or am I just going to have to turn this device into a tablet. -___-
p.s. The screen broke and was replaced, and after return of the phone this happened. Is it that the phone repair guy damaged my device?
Plz help!?
Is the imei okay? Are both of the antenna wires properly connected?

yes i can clearly see the imei #. ..and about the antenna wires, yes both are connected but just that the white wire seems abit off. but i tested the continuity and it seemed to work.
The imei is the same before and after the repair?
Did you remove the motherboard and examine it for signs of damage or alteration?

Yes I did. Motherboard checked out ok. Just can't understand why no signal tho. Wifi and Bluetooth works well. And to answer your question, yes imei # is the same.
Also, I was told that the phone fell before the screen replacement and that's when the issue started.
Even if the antenna wasn't connected, it should be able to pickup some amount of signal. If that's not the case then I'll just have to replace the cables and the lower PCB also the speaker area.
Maybe the drop caused a loose connection on the motherboard?
Did you try pressing against the antenna connection points on the motherboard with the back removed?
Well not entirely.. All I tried was checking the antenna wires (which I realized are just the WiFi antennas) and also, tried placing a copper wire in one of the testpoint area that's dedicated to GPRS.
Is it possible that the transceiver may be damaged? Or that's not possible from a simple fall.
Imei is not blacklisted?
Nahh I doubt it. Phone was purchased unlocked was working for a while.. Fell, signal went ..broken screen.. Then once the screen was replaced, inserted sim and it detected sim and also the network but won't gain any bars (service) nor will it detect any other providers.
I would check the imei just in case.
What would I compare that to, apart from what the phone telling me?
I'm registered on the cell network, but no service despite the adjustments of changing the network type or by dialing *#*#4636#*#* and making alterations there.
You can check the imei in swappa.
same problem

Yeah pretty weird if you ask me. But if you do get a solution to that issue please share :good:
According to Rameeze87, possible hardware issue. Here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/nexus-5-network-signal-wifi-ok-t3310047
Had no idea couldnt duplicate threads, then again it did help to justify the issue.
same
Mine is doing the same thing. Once in a blue moon it will show full bars upon first inserting the sim for maybe three seconds and show provider then drop all the bars and say no service. Dont think there is a simple fix.
Having this issue right now with my wife's phone. Power button broke and was going through endless power cycling so I removed the power button. Got the phone working but will not connect to network. I have checked everything 20 times.
Any solutions?

Yup.. same issue. Phone fell and no mobile signals since (sim gets detected). Everything else is working fine, checked the antenna wires and they are connected properly... Anyone here who was able to get the signals back?
similar issue here in the uk.
N5 phone worked fine for 2 years with a 3 sim.
i changed the knackered battery and that all works and charges ok.
but the 3 sim now wont work(but it does in my motorola moto g), the only sim that will work in my N5 is an O2 sim ???
why does one sim work but not another, the phone isn't locked to a carrier?....
Hi
I have a rooted Galaxy note 5 phone SM-N920C model.
Some water got into my phone and i had to take it to a phone shop to get it fixed its was working fine after the water damage but the power button had to be pressed hard to work.
the repair guy told me he had to replace several some parts i think some cpus.
After i got my phone my sim would work and then randomly stop working and i couldn't make calls nor will mobile data work. Then randomly it would work again and stop randomly.
i tried my sim in another phone and it was working fine, even tried my friend's in my phone and it had the same problem.
An important thing that i found is that the model in my device info has changed from SM-N920C to SM-G935T Aka Samasung S7 Edge.
after a couple of days i figured out that outside the house the mobile network works fine but inside it it doesn't might have to do with the signal i'm getting from the device. So im thinking of this an error from the guy who fixed it so i'm going to return it to him.
Things i did trying to fix it : flash all kind of different roms, unrooted, rerooted and also tried to install S7 Edge roms also tried the S7 Edge stock rom.
