[Q] Rooting S5770 with Jelly Bean - General Questions and Answers

Hey all
Problem: I installed clockworkmod, gapps and 4.2 on my s5770 without rooting the device. I was messing around with play store trying to download apps but it turns out my internal memory is pretty much full so cant download. I've tried changing the download location to the SD card but didn't work. I found a few websites that say its possible to expand internal memory but the device needs to be rooted and here lies the problem. Im not sure how rooting works but I have tried using a 4.2 method but didn't work and I've also tried a 2.3 method but still didn't work.
Ill list the specs for you guys based on the about device section in phone settings. I want to know how to root the device because so far, everything ive tried hasn't worked or if their is a method to expand the internal memory without rooting that might help too.
regards.

Does anyone know how to mod this thing? Or at very least get thee google apps n market working
Attached is some picks of the internals of the tablet, if that'd help any...
I have been able to root using z4root. Figured the button combo for bootloader, but as it's booting to recovery it gives me an error in chinese and restarts, booting to OS
Sent from my HTC HERO cyanogen7 2.3.4
I got the same Kudee about a week ago in HK and I was able to rooted it with z4root too. When I keep pressing the 'home' + 'return' buttons while powering up the tablet, it go through the recovering process sucessfully without errors.
From your pics, I can't see the usual internal micro sd card slot found in other tablet so you can upgrade the internal storage. I was hoping to upgrade the rom from 2G to 8G.
Also, I was trying to dump the firmware using dd but no luck coz I still couldn't figure out the device name used under directory /dev.

[Q] Help me identify this tablet.

Why hello there.. I recently got this tablet from my friend The problem is this tablet model is unknown to me.. Therefore making me unable to find suitable ROM to flash. So, can anyone help me determine it's model?

I am interested to see if that can be fixed by an update or a new ROM.

i know how to root it! I have the exact same SoftwinerEVB Tablet which i bought off of eBay.
Some guy on android central or something said in a forum that if you factory reset the tablet (back everything up so you can restore after reset) it will be rooted, i followed the instructions AND IT WORKED!! to make sure I had done it I used SuperOneClick to try and root it and a message popped up saying i had already been rooted. Try this method to root it and tell me how it works out
P.S. It won't automatically get the superuser app so you'll have to download it off Google Play or something
this tablet comes rooted if you need to check to make sure all you have to do is get root checker from the play store.

Any idea on how to flash this device with CWM Recovery and is there any suitable Rom for this device?
There's an app on Google play which can check whether phone is rooted or not!
As for cwm and rom, u r gonna have to do a Google search!
Antutu benchmark can give full details of ur device with model no... Try that too!

Hi, I ordered the same tablet from Ebay and was also looking for info. Looks like I found it...
I ran "Root Checker" and by root access it states "access granted", so I am assuming it was delivered with a rooted Android OS.
MY question is, how do you install *.apk files to it?
...and by the way THANKS FOR THE HELP!

The way you download apk files to it is:
1. Plug in tablet to computer
2. Enable the usb file transfer thing
3. Download apk in file form
4. Transfer the file to anywhere on the internal (or external) memory (I prefer to put them in the download folder)
5. Disable usb file transfer thing
6. Open File manager
7. Navigate to the folder you placed the file
8. Tap the file listed
9. Press ok
10. Done
P.S. make sure installation of non market apps is checked in the security section of settings.

Mtk6577 Root, build-120920.ics v13 -problems

Hello all,
I have been a reader of work on here for sometime when needing help with a problem, mainly with mine and my wifes Galaxy mini due to it's low built in memory..
Anyway on to this little problem, I have been toying with the idea of rooting my china import hero h2000+ So over the weekend I started collecting information/bits towards it.
Tried the easier route with unlockroot.com free version that couldn't unlock the shells.
Then tried one from Youtube but there's was a new version (phone wise) using MTKdroidtools v237 That one went though okay and had the super user there then when you reboot it, it was gone.
Then tried, sorry can't remember the person/user but was Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v17. Press one for normal all goes though fine just nother there at the end again.
Then tried Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18 all the same as the v17 but once rebooted and back on there's a little problem..
It seems that all the apk files have been wiped, but on closer inspection they seem like they are there after managing to install the apk for ES File Explorer so I've managed to in still other apk files to keep me going for the moment But it will not reinstall google play. as I can't get it back to 'as before'. I also noticed that the recovery mode no longer works the screen will come up as if it loading it but just turns off.
In an ideal world I would like to either get back to fully working or rooted & working, but read there a bit difficult to.
Other detail are:
Android Version 4.0.4
Baseband Version: MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V7,2012/08/20 16:49
Kernal Version: 3.0.13 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT Zed Sept 19 05:06:34 EDT 2012
Build number: 120920.ICS.V13.FWVGA.CN.COM.4P4.MT6628
Also just found that it does not Reboot Recovery from about phone.
Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated :fingers-crossed:
Thanks
Anyone? please.

Need Help With Root! (Lenovo Tab 4 8)

Posting this to see if I might be able to get some help. I have intermediate knowledge of Android OS, so I'm looking for step by step help. I currently have no PC access which makes all of this much harder. Device I'm currently on is ZTE Zmax Pro, (no root on marshmallow 6.0.1)which probably won't be any help in this situation. I've looked through several threads but haven't found something I can really use. I even looked into a couple 1 click root apps, but they didn't work. Not only that but I'd rather do it manually anyways.

Try with #King_root
https://kingroot.net
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I've tried that a few times already. First time was after I unboxed the device(stock firmware I believe?). Went through 3 software updates while trying in between each one as well. I'll go ahead and try again though. I'll post update.
Kingroot Update: Ran root process, hangs at 01% for about a minute until jumping to 15%. Got to 16% and process stopped. Was prompted to either Reboot or release memory. After reboot, the root process went up to 23%. Third time around it goes to 19% and keeps doing it. Do I keep this process going or am I wasting my time? Does the software try a different method each time? There's only 18 root requests too. Not sure how popular this tablet is but that means it's being rooted easily or nobody has one lol
Is it the lenovo tb 8504f you want to root because we have the same device and i know how to root it very easy please answer me i also need your help

Nobis 9" Internet Tablet (Model NB09) - Custom ROMs?

Hello,
I've had this Chinese knock-off tablet running Android 4.1.1 for a few years now. I haven't really used it, since it doesn't have enough installation space, even though it says there is over 5 GB of space. However, I was able to root it the other day using the KingoRoot tool, and change the install location to my SD card using a terminal emulator. I would like to also add a custom ROM to my tablet, to allow for added customization, but I have found very few resources online covering this tablet. Are there any compatible ROMs from other devices that could work on this device? I apologize if this a bit of a newbie question, as I am relatively new to Android modding/rooting.
Additional Info:
Kernel Version: 3.0.8
Build Number: NB09.20130929.v005
