Mtk6577 Root, build-120920.ics v13 -problems - General Questions and Answers

Hello all,
I have been a reader of work on here for sometime when needing help with a problem, mainly with mine and my wifes Galaxy mini due to it's low built in memory..
Anyway on to this little problem, I have been toying with the idea of rooting my china import hero h2000+ So over the weekend I started collecting information/bits towards it.
Tried the easier route with unlockroot.com free version that couldn't unlock the shells.
Then tried one from Youtube but there's was a new version (phone wise) using MTKdroidtools v237 That one went though okay and had the super user there then when you reboot it, it was gone.
Then tried, sorry can't remember the person/user but was Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v17. Press one for normal all goes though fine just nother there at the end again.
Then tried Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18 all the same as the v17 but once rebooted and back on there's a little problem..
It seems that all the apk files have been wiped, but on closer inspection they seem like they are there after managing to install the apk for ES File Explorer so I've managed to in still other apk files to keep me going for the moment But it will not reinstall google play. as I can't get it back to 'as before'. I also noticed that the recovery mode no longer works the screen will come up as if it loading it but just turns off.
In an ideal world I would like to either get back to fully working or rooted & working, but read there a bit difficult to.
Other detail are:
Android Version 4.0.4
Baseband Version: MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V7,2012/08/20 16:49
Kernal Version: 3.0.13 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT Zed Sept 19 05:06:34 EDT 2012
Build number: 120920.ICS.V13.FWVGA.CN.COM.4P4.MT6628
Also just found that it does not Reboot Recovery from about phone.
Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated :fingers-crossed:
Thanks

Anyone? please.

SD Card Permissions

Hi all.
I'm not really sure if this is the right place to put this, but it's driving me right crazy. Here's some background:
I have a G2 Touch (Hero) on T-Mobile.
I was running T-Mobile Android 1.5 on it, build 2.73.
A while back I did the goldcard thing, but never updated the ROM, as I heard a rumour that 2.1 was coming soon enough.
I got the "prep" update for 2.1, which broke my phone (hazard triangle screen). I read on forums that I needed to reflash the T-Mobile ROM and then it would work fine.
I took a ROM I'd downloaded which I thought was the T-Mobile ROM... you can see where this is heading... I have no idea what ROM it was or where I got it from, but it was probably one I'd downloaded in the goldcard setup.
Anyway, the mystery ROM loaded fine, as did the prep update. I then got the 2.1 update, which also loaded fine.
There's the history - I'll apologise now for that.
Currently my phone is running as follows:
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Baseband version: 63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.11
Kernel version: 2.6.29-063c4d24 [email protected] #1
Build number: 3.32.405.1 CL191507 release-keys
And so to the problem:
Since updating, I seem to have no permission on my phone to write/delete files. For example, putting an ebook file into the books folder of my sdcard just won't let me. I can do it via my PC using the sdcard as a drive, but I need to be able to do it on my phone so the book reader picks it up.
Can anyone help with my stupidity?

[Q] One last request for help updating

Ok, so, I'm now officially out of ideas. I simply cannot get this thing updated to 3.2. Here's my current details, everything stock:
Model number: TF101
Android version: 3.1
GPS Version: V1.3.2
Wifi version: V5.150
Bluetooth: V6.17
Kernel: [email protected]#1
Build: HMJ37.US_epad-8.4.4.11-20110711
No OTA to 3.2, and downloading the update from Asus's ftp site and trying to run it (turn off, hold power and volume down, followed by volume up to enter recovery mode) doesn't work - I get the exclamation mark right away. Tried renaming it to EP101_SDUPDATE, that didn't work either. Tried both the US and WW versions (even though it's the US version I have) and nada, nothing. Tried putting the file into the root of the SD card, didn't work, into the update folder, didn't work, into the root of the internal memory, didn't work.
Am I doing anything wrong, or is there just something wrong with my device?
I think it needs to be on a microsd card to install
Personally I wouldn't waste my time. I see more harm than good from the update. Now I can't even type a simple reply on this site using the default or Dolphin browser. In the text box sometime I cannot backspace to delete characters. You can't open browser short cut from you desktop without rotating the screen after every shutdown. Hopefully Asus will fix some of these issues. If these promblem occur with all Honeycomb devices the Google needs to pull their heads out of there asses.
Don't waste your time with stock 3.2. I'm running Prime1.7 and for me it's much better and malso more stable.
can you root it nd get it by using CWM ?
or do you really want your TF complete original?

Lenovo A656 MTK6589 Quad Core 1.2GHz Android 4.2

New here - so Hi for everyone and greetings from cold Poland!
Here is so many experienced users of Android so maybe you could give me some support to resolve my issue.
When I was on the business trip in China I bought phone which is not so familiar on the market. It was interesting for me with the design and speed of working so I decided to take it for my wife.
Here are some short details of what is inside :
Lenovo A656
Android 4.2.1
Kernel 3.4.5
Software version A656_S116_130828
Hardware H401
and here is full description of the phone : 2lenovo dot com and A656 model in the search engine - red one (I can't paste full link cause I'm new here)
My issue is following.
1'st thing is that I do not have Polish language, but that is not a problem EN is also fine.
2'nd thing is that I can't run Google Play Store. It just closing after 1 sec.
I made deep research how to resolve that problem and tried many solutions - nothing work. Still app is closing without any info.
In the process list Google Play store is listed as working. I can stop it, clear cache, clear data, restart etc. - still do not work.
Checked if Download Manager is working - is working - not disabled as this is most common solution of this problem.
I installed latest version of the app GP 4.5 - nothing. Still app is closing. I patched phone to get root and installed also modified version of GP - nothing Than restored to the factory default and still same situation.
What I found when I compared that device with other OS is that apps : Download Manager and Download apk are processes controled by the oryginal Lenovo soft A656_S116_130828 and I think here is the problem located. Someting is wrong what do not allow G.P. store to run ok.
If you will look at my link 2lenovo.com on the one screen this phone present some interesting for me soft.
It include both - Polish language and preinstalled google play store.
Details are following :
Android SDK Version 17 (Android 4.2x)
([email protected]) (gcc version 4.6.x-google 20120106 (prerelease) (GCC) #1 SMP PREEMPT
Wed Aug 28 18:59:21 CST 2013
Is there any way to get such rom ?
What is strange - rest of apps working OK like youtube, google services, google maps, opera etc.
Im not pro user in the android system so thx for your undestainding
I will be glad to have your help.
------------
EDIT
------------
I moved subject a little forward and I'm little closer to the solution.
Seems that this phone do not have important elements of google services necessary for the Google Play Store run OK.
I installed some packges and shop opened but returned with info that there is no connection.
When I unistalled GoogleFrameworkServices It just closing as described previously.
Seems that everything is connected to the well instalation of the Google apps.
My maybe more simple question is - how to find our which packge would run on that phone ?
Tried few ready from other phones and some of them retur error during installation, some install but not all of gaaps apk packge etc.
Would be glad to have your feedback.

Whole day searching, PhotoRec, DiskDIgger, Rooting, Knox, ROM, UMS ... getting dizzy..
Boils down to: no root no chance.
I have searched and found for my phone a reasonably simple way to "root it", but it says "Beware, this is risky, know everything before proceeding, knox will be tripped and brick could hit you." just before the download button. (here: desktop.firmware.mobi/device:403/firmware:16678/cfar )
And then if I take this risk, I could still see nothing in PhotoRec, as nothing is certain in this realm.
Is there a guide somewhere for this avail?

yes, this does really boil down to "no root = no chance" sadly. The only thing you can do is turn it off like said above to avoid the phone writing 1's and 0's in the spot where the picture data physically resides as the directory manager doesnt know its there anymore since it was "deleted". You have the 920F, so you should be able to root it. Its out of warranty anyways, so IMO, its worth a shot

MediaTek T906 Tablet(Made in China!!)

Good Evening All(or whatever time it may be there),
I'm new to XDA and Rooting, etc. etc. I purchased a MediaTek T906 Tablet(Made in China!!). After I received it and charged it, the first thing noticed it wasn't allowing some apps to download and install. Keep in mind this is suppose to be Android 9 and 512Gig 8Gig ram device.
Below is what MTK Droid Tool v2.5.3 says about it(and yes I Root it, am fully aware that it voids warranty):
Hardware : MT6582 (MT6797 is Fake!)
Model : T906
Build number : T906_vEN52S2_TB_20191205
Build date UTC : 20191205-085910
Android v : 9.0
Baseband v: MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V54, 2018/01/02 15:01
Kernel v : 3.4.67 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.7 (GCC) ) #1 SMP Thu Dec 5 16:56:01 CST 2019
Too root(successfully)it I used KingoRoot and Got SuperUser Status/Privileges. I did a lot of reading on root and other root apps(to be used in conjunction with). Long story short, I'm trying to get a specific app to download to this tablet and am not sure how to go about it. I did the dump data/cache thing in Play Store and Google Play Services and reboot. Didn't work. Did all the steps before I root the device. I even used Root Essentials Editor to mod the device name and manufacturer, that didn't work. And the time zone is set to right time zone. So, I'm making this post asking for some guidance and/or help on what I can do? Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!
I am in the same situation as the previous poster with the same Version, Kernel, Baseband, Build and my experience with this should be considered at a beginner's level. In researching this and came across a post that indicated that the tablet is not actually Android 9.0 but suspected to be KitKat. Please, if anyone knows how I could get this setup with Android Oreo, I would be grateful.
Hi guys,
just got the tablet too, it also seems to me it has this config:
- MT6582
- 1GB RAM
- 16GB Storage
- 1280 * 800, 7.19" display
- Android 4.4
Not sure what options there are, but I hope there are some newer Android builds that would work on this?
I'm following
So far....
I have been successful in rooting my device and hope to find a ROM that will move it up to a level that will allow KODI -Leia to be installed. I will let you know what my findings are. I'm just afraid as I don't want to brick the device.
Hi guys . Same problem. But. Works to me. Go in accounts remove account. then try loggin again.
uncheck all boxes. Unynchronize the two options in the account. Agenda and contacts. Deselect the check options. If it doesn't work restart and turn off the wifi. then rewire. Do it again. good luck
A brother in distress
I've got the exact same issue with my T906 Mediatek. I downloaded the Root app (Thanks!) and kept trying to get the things to load and run. I'm specifically having the issue with Alexa app. I can find it but I get that the app isn't compatible. It runs on my Samsung phone that's running A9.0. It keeps saying the app is already installed, yet it isn't . I went into the Play Store and Play Services apps and deleted the updates and caches as suggested on YouTube. No difference. I'm sort of at a "What Now!?" POINT.
Any help would be appreciated.
Be safe out there and for goodness sake, wear your masks until this crap is beat.
The REAL OldGeezer
you can't upgrade generic android devices until version 9. Android 9 seperates the drivers with the treble abstraction layer allowing you keep the drivers and upgrade the rest. The T906 has android 5.11. If you run CM lite scan you will see a huge Opera beta file that is always 3 times your storage. This is how they fake the RAM and ROM sizes. If you take off the back and look at the board you will ussually see printed on the board 1GB ram 16GB rom. They have also faked the CPU by using the ROM for the upspec version with better camera, screen resolution and CPU which uses the same drivers. Thus these are also falsely reported. Sadly Google no longer supports android 5 for things like Google sheets so your apps will soon stop upgrading. I love this machine because the screen size makes it cheap for 50 USD
Help to get ROM image to restore same model
I have the same model but when trying to get root access managed to brick it. I have got SP Flash working and managed to get some T906 firmware on it so I get the Mediatek logo and battery charging symbol on screen however the boot options i.e. Fastboot etc just gives an error message when selecting any of them.
I've got a development background but new to Android and scatter files but is it possible for anyone on this thread with the exact same model to help get back to a working system? I assume there is a way to back it all up using SP Flash ?
hi everyone are in the same problem boot error !!!
how to solve it I have tried in all ways but I find myself as soon as I turn it on boot error !!!! you can not even go into recovery?
Help!!!
These manufacturers need to be found and dealt with cause they are robbing customers. They are giving fake specifications. They need to be sued asap.
I got a Mediatek tablet and try put it in recovery mode and now I got black screen with blue bar with SIM and Chinese Characters. Any way to fix it
Hali!

Hello guys.
I have a different problem with my T906. It works fine and it is fast and reliable but I had problems downloading apps from the Google Play Store. When I checked it said that the Device is not certified under the Play Protect Certification. I remembered that it came without the Google Play app and I installed from another APK store (apkmirror.com) and it installed without issues. I've tried to download another Google Play app but can't find the correct match for my version and OS (64-bit - Android 8.1).
Any help will be truly appreciated.
I've just created a dump of this tablet with flash tool, maybe you can try to revive yours

MediaFire is a simple to use free service that lets you put all your photos, documents, music, and video in a single place so you can access them anywhere and share them everywhere.

Btw I'd welcome any kind of rom that would make this device more usable
