Got this nexus 5 unit and trying to fix here, when I try to unlock the bootloader they stuck on this
what should I do?
Yes, erasing can take a lot of time sometimes. I wouldn't suggest you to terminate the operation.. Wait for another 15 mins and see if it gets erased.. If not, start over. Don't forget to reboot bootloader...
Have you tried rebooting recovery (power button/volume down)?

Ok, so what's the issue now? Is the bootloader unlocked or locked?? Are you in a bootloop?
yes... but no good

What do you mean by the recovery won't work?? What happens when you select Recovery from the bootloader??
To sum it up, here's your scenario..
Stuck in bootloop, Can't access recovery, can't unlock bootloader as it gets stuck on "erasing"..
I don't think you have much of a choice m8 other than RMA'ing it.. You need access to the recovery or to "unlocked" bootloader if you want to fix anything.

Let me explain, I enter in recovery mode, and I get the options : restart bootloader, recovery mode, power off, and start, it is that recovery mode that I told you that not work, the phone becomes ON but whith black screen, and if I power of and power on again, GOOGLE logo in white appear on the center of the screen and stays stuck on that

Yeah, I got what you meant the first time you explained...
Getting stuck on Google Logo means a bootloop..
Since, you can't access recovery and also unlock the bootloader, you're out of options.. I can't think of anyway to fix this.
My advice would be to switch off the phone.. Let it cool down for 15 mins.. reboot your computer or use another computer.. Try to unlock the bootloader now or try accessing the recovery.. If you still can't, I would RMA it..
Might i suggest flashing the stock google images again, a simple search in the forum or on google will help you with that, they come with a flash-all file that will do all the work for you. just need to download the files to be able to do it and will need to be in bootloader mode for the stock images to flash
If you have tried everything then try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...orial-how-to-flash-factory-images-lg-t2713833

I went out partying last night, woke up to a crack on my nexus 5 and wouldnt turn on but the led would flash red. I figured it lost its charge. Charge the phone for few hours, phone would turn on and off right away as if it still were not charged. It would than shut off but restart to a screen that said Firmware Update- Please wait while it installs- B100. Nothing would install, it would stay at 0%. So I held the power button and now, it only turns on to the google sign and keeps looping from there. I tried to turn it on in recovery mode but that doesnt work either. My phone was never rooted, bootloader never unlocked and I never put it in debugging. I dont know what to do!
so the ol' 3-button combo doesn't get you to the bootloader?
Yes, it does. Forgot to mention that.

I don't know what you did, but your phone is not bricked. Hope you have a recent backup. If you can get into the bootloader I'd try a factory reset in recovery. If that doesn't work then you're going to have to unlock the bootloader and try to flash the factory image. None of this may work as idk what you did to your phone, but this is what I'd do.
Is flashing a factory image/unlocking bootloader possible even tho I can't get into the settings menu to turn on debugging option?

Alright, here. The catch-all solution: flash the factory image as in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513701.
Just remember to cd to your adb directory, I made that mistake and almost fainted because I thought my device was totally broken when fastboot devices listed nothing.

If that's the case it sounds like you may have knocked something loose internally when whatever happened that caused the damage to your screen. Possibly a solder point or a cable coming loose.
Opened up the back cover, looks like condensation.....ill leave it alone for a few days and try again.

Did u do another factory reset after last flash as this may need doing on some phones from what I've watched on good old YouTube...Good luck..
^Why would he factory reset when the phone is wet? You'll short circuit it that way..
The only method of a factory reset I've read about was turning on in Recovery, waiting for the little android, and holding Vol + and Power. Thing is my phone would never get to the little android, just loop on the GOOGLE introduction. Is there another method to factory reset?

Turn your phone off. Then hold power + vol down. It should boot into the boot loader. You'll see a "start" Then use the vol rocker to toggle to recovery. Once there push the power button. You should be in recovery. Then use the vol rocker to toggle to factory reset. Then use power to select it.

Try
fastboot reboot recovery
Edit, sorry that's not going to work. Find the stock recovery image. Then try

So I was able to boot in recovery and factory reset, although the problem still persists. I will try and flash all images tomorrow. Thanks for all the help! Happy holidays!
My nexus 5 froze during use so I forced shutdown. When I turned it back on it stuck and the google logo. I tried to factory reset from fastboot but when i select recovery the screen just goes blank (i don't see the android robot with the exclamation) and I have to manually shut it down. I also tried to unlock the bootloader to flash the factory image but when I select "Yes" to unlock the bootloader the same thing happens (the screen goes blank). Can anyone help with this?

Hey there,
I am Nexus 5 user. Recently I updated my phone to Lolipop 5.0.1. At first the phone worked fine. A few days later the background apps started restarting. That was still manageable. A week back the phone started restarting. So I read about in a Google Forum, it advised to delete partition cache from the 'Recovery Mode' . I did so. It worked and phone stopped restarting. Now a week later the problem started again. So I wiped partition cache. But during the process the battery ran out and the phone switched off.
Now when I try to switch on the phone, the Google logo appears and then the phone freezes in the boot animation.
The phone boots into bootloader(power button + volume up + volume down), but when I try to get into Recovery Mode, an android is displayed with a red exclamation mark.
The bootloader is locked, so I can't flash the original image.
Need help to get the phone back.
Additional info about the device:
a. Nexus 5 32GB
b. Lolipop 5.0.1
c. Locked bootloader/ unrooted
d. Still in warranty.
The dead android is recovery mode. When you see that press and hold the power button then press and release vol up. Try a factory reset in there. Note, it will wipe your device so backup first if you can.

If it doesn't turn on there is nothing you can do. You need to be able to boot into the bootloader. Usb debugging doesn't matter. You don't need it on to run fastboot commands.

You don't need to get into recovery. Boot into the bootloader, unlock it, then flash the factory image. All that is done in the bootloader, not recovery.
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
There is little confusion here @ShobhitJethani. Let's make things clear.
Bootloader mode (or fastboot mode) is when you press and hold volume_down+power keys.
Recovery mode is when you select the recovery mode with the power key in the bootloader mode.
To enable the menu options in stock recovery you have to PRESS and HOLD the POWER key and while you do that you just PRESS the VOLUME_UP key and then you RELEASE the VOLUME_UP key and then you can RELEASE the POWER key too.
What you did is starting to press and hold volume _up and power keys at the same time which is wrong.
Also, to unlock bootloader you just have to put the phone to bootloader mode. You dont have to do anything special before that.
I hope you now understand.
I somehow managed to remove the tamper flag and then gave it to the service center. They flashed KitKat on the phone. And now I also have updated my phone to 5.1 OTA. Thanks to everyone for trying to help me.
Hi Guys, My Nexus 5 is stuck in a boot loop where it wont even get past the Google logo.
I have been searching around and have tried a number of things but nothing is working for me. Here's what I have tried so far:
- I thought the power button might be stuck down so I stripped and cleaned the whole thing. Button seems to be working OK but still in loop.
- Tried clearing cache through recovery mode. Once in recovery mode the power+vol up button will not bring up menu. It then reboots after 5 seconds and the loop starts again.
Currently I am trying to flash an OEM version onto the phone but the Bootloader is locked. Working through the guide here. I can connect to the phone. Execute the command 'fastboot oem unlock' but then when I attempt the reboot I get stuck back in the loop.
So yea that's where I am at so if anyone has any solutions for me that would be much appreciated.

Do you mean the Android SDK Platform-tools or maybe the Nexus Root Toolkit? In either case the result is the same. As soon as the phone needs to reboot to unlock the bootloader it goes back into the loop and hence can not complete the unlocking.

It's your power button then nothing to do with nexus root toolkit.
I'm having the same problem, power button seems to work as it does not reboot itself
It stops in the Google logo for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which it restarts and does it again
When I do unblock the bootloader by adb and I will execute the command to reinitiate it back again to the screen with the Google logo with the bootloader blocked and thus be infinitely with the logo for 10 to 15 seconds
Anyone have any idea what that might be?
Sorry for my english.
Hey there,
Tldr bottom
While trying to apply unlock bootloader, root, and custom rom my phone, I encountered a few problems. I bought this phone in china and this gave me so many headaches. Firstoff no gapps so that's why I'm doing all this, but twrp and firmware is a pain in the ass. I unlocked the bootloader and installed twrp. But I couldn't get my phone to boot into twrp, it would only go to erecovery.
I have tried installing twrp and not booting but going straight to twrp, as to avoid the overwrite. It did not work. I tried many many flashes with different twrp, none worked. Not even the Chinese ones. So I figured it might be because I'm running emui 5 on Nougat.
I tried to downgrade, which was a hassle. Dload did not work and finnaly I found that the pc huawei suite had downgrade avaliable. So I tried that but got stuck at the screen in the attachment. I encountered this before so I went to fastboot and flashed twrp and booted up.
Still cant boot into twrp, only erecovery. I Thought I had downgraded, but when booting up I saw it was the old UI and in the 'about phone' it still said emui 5, android 7. So I did it all again. But this time I first locked my bootloader. So I locked my bootloader and tried to downgrade... This time it booted up without problems but it was still emui5 android 7. Odd.
So unlocked my bootloader again and now I'm stuck at this screen. It won't let me boot recovery or fastboot. It does not even respond to vol up+vol down + power. Force update. Nothing works. It boots to this screen everytime.
imgur.com/gallery/gOJ9E
Tldr: unlocked bootloader for second time after failed downgrade. Now its bricked.

It takes sometime to enter fastboot mode when your phone is powered off. Try again.
Switch off the phone
Press volume down button
While pressing it plug your phone
Keep the volume down button pressed.
It takes around 10-15 seconds to show up. Sometimes it takes even more time but eventually you'll be able to enter
