(Activity)CPU binning still strong check your score. - AT&T LG G2

Yes this started with nexus 4 everyone was running back to swap if they found they had a slower binned cpu. Lol
Anyway I got my 6 on cpu and 2 other. The main one here when you run the test is how well your cpu will respond to clock speeds. Higher or lower. I've also noticed a faster binned cpu runs better in my own real world experience with nexus 4. But you'll need to study up on it. Dont take my word for it...have at it.
OK so you must be rooted.
Open terminal right after you reboot.
Type this in exactly.
su
dmesg | grep PVS
After su hit return and likewise with the script.
Enjoy. And no running off to get that faster binned cpu. You will be upset running that direction. Lol.
You'll see a line of code. I'll post a pic here.

Means your rocking the fastest cpu bin..very good. Just as i,..however i mau me confusing the numbers. Its different than nexus 4. I posted this for fun. Many people love little tricks and such to find deeper info on their product.

My binning is 3.
Users above me have 2.
It is the one next to PVS
I think

Yes indeed bro. You have a faster binned cpu. Yours if im still remembering correctly will underclock lower and more stable. I picked up another g2 since trying out the m8 and sold m8 for another g2. Lol. Yes i know im nuts. But g2 is much much faster. In my use.

3 here as well. Im d800 and i believe the latest manufactured g2 has threse faster binned chips. But im not certain. I was heavily involved with kernel and mods last few years but have been writing music on keyboards. But ill get back into the groove. Google lg cpu binning. Youll find knowledge on this.

Curious about the current roms and what to expected from each, from reviews the infuse averages 1100 to 1300 on quadrant which is OK I guess I get around 2200 on my streak , just curious of the infuses speed on custom roms vs. Stock.

don't put too much faith in benchmarks. fun to compare but otherwise should be left to fine tuning settings and finding a devices strengths and weaknesses for figuring out how to best exploit its power for things like game programming . it has little relevance to every day activities.
the lowish benchmark numbers come from the slow file system and the somewhat poor floating point performance. I don't know how much floating point you run on you device (crunching numbers) but being that these processors have dedicated fpu's it is not a general measure of performance. qualcomm just has a better fpu. samsung has the best gpu. play h.264 movies @1080p on both devices and see which fairs better! with 2.3.3 the video decoding gets even faster increasing quadrant score by up to 1000 points as seen on my captivate beating even the xoom tablet with a score of over 3000 which is just as irrelevant as the infuse/streak quadrant comparison.
I might even skip the SGS2. Loving the phone and the big screen.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
I also came from the Streak. The screen and camera quality are enough for me to never look back.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
And another convert here. Very happy with the phone. Only thing I'm missing is the little extra screen size.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
I absolutely love my Infuse. The one thing that bothered me for about 5 days was the relatively low DPI of the screen, but between LCD Density tweaks and a new font... and perhaps just allowing my eyes to get used to it, I never notice the pixelation that plagued me at first.
EDIT: Oh, and to me the SGS2 would be a downgrade. Dual-core procs don't make up for a smaller screen.
If you're coming from the Dell Streak to the Infuse, not much difference except slightly faster processor and 1/2 an inch smaller screen. Battery life is the same. Samsung has it's Touch Whiz on top of android. However, rooting and unlocking this phone was easy.
Why would u compare quadrant from a stock infuse to a modded streak? Pointless.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
Ya i know my quadrant scores are pretty irrelevant even with my scores im sure the infuse is much smoother and faster even with lower scores? I think i might stop by my at&t store and check 1 out
Looks like there is 1 or 2 roms already what are your experiences with them? Any overclocking to come?
Thanks
Yea oc is on the way...and voodoo lagfix shoots the quadrant up to 1700-1900.

I beg to differ on the cores being utilized efficiently, now with the update everything runs pretty efficiently. Battery life will show that. Its so hard having grown up in the 1970's -1980's to understand how younger generations appreciate nothing and expect perfection. It has to do with the internets. When I got my Atari 2600 in 1980, I was sooooo happy with it. There was no forum to chew the Developers asses. Not to mention, its just rude. Well for one I care about the "benchmark shizz"
But its always been about how the phone runs. That's why they invented benchmark programs to score each phones performance so you can compare how the hardware/software combination you are using performs. Using that tool you can actually get a tangable number for each setup you run therefore giving you the higher number for higher performance. So think about what you say before you go contradicting yourself in public.

Once OC is possible how much could CPU be pushed?

I'm just curious does anyone have an educated guess as to what this CPU could be pushed too? I know with my G2 stock clock was 810 mhz and was easily doubled. Does this mean potentially pushing both cores to 3 GHZ ?
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
You can't push a device from 1.5GHz to +3.0GHz I doubt it.
It'll just overheat if you attempt to.
1.8/1.9GHz will be fine.
Well i assumed as much, but if the stock clock is already this high i would assume we could get it to go quite a bit more

That wasn't the question, and is completely irrelevant. I'm just curious as to what the theoretical peak frequency for the S4 CPU is.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
with the sensation (also snapdragon 1.5gz) it was safe to use at around 1.8ghz max...
I wouldnt push it much further than this as the risks triple. The last thing you want is a fried processor.
Thats if you feel you need OC anyway, I dont think this devices needs it at all. But hey, each to their own i guess
Good question. On my g2 I was able to go from 810mhz to 1.9ghz stable. I don't see why we wouldn't be able to push it up to there if the first gen spandragon could do it.
Also yeah, there isn't a point in doing so. Some people are overclockers for the pure hell of it. If you have to ask "what's the point" then you shouldn't even post on here anyway.
The dev that made setcpu posted his one x pc'd to 1.8ghz stable and said the script should soon be integrated into the app. Also commented it will be available for the one s too. It was on Twitter (forgot Twitter tag).

I would want pure power for benchmarks and enough power for games and heavy processes. I would also love to undervolt and underclock for battery gains.

OverClocking HTC One x

Hey guys,
Had a question regarding overclocking. I have root n installed setCPU. The max limit is 1500Mhz. However with max settings the performance is the same. Is there a way to go above this limit with root + stock Rom?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Do you really need to overclock it? It's the most powerful phone out there, with a processor that is ridiculously fast as is. What do you expect to get out of overclocking?
I am jus looking to see the phone operate at max capabilities. And also the responsiveness is really good after setting it to max values currently so just a bit of curiosity as to how far can I stretch the limit of the phone
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Have you tried the dual core mod? I have noticed an increase in responsiveness after flashing it. Right up your alley methinks.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
FYI
Until we get custom kernel overclocking isn't really an option even with the mode that OC's you to 1.8ghz there's little to no difference. Cheers.
This may be off topic but why 1.8? Was that value chosen arbitrarily?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
The overclock speed is determined by what voltage we can get the CPU up to safely without burning it.
1809mhz (1.809ghz) is the fastest we can go right now though this could easily change with the kernel source.
And 1.8 does feel faster, but it really isn't necessary. I haven't come acorss something yet that makes this phone skip a beat.
Yes but how did you decide that this was a safe value? Is it from stress testing and monitoring the temperature? Or is it like in the HTC Aria where the CPU in the phone was actually spec'ed to run 200Mhz higher than what the phone shipped with? Or something else?

Little to no difference? It's either overclocked or not. The heat parameters are one thing but it is overclocked.

From what I've read about the CPU and the archetecture the processor should run 2.5Ghz I dunno at what voltage. Also can handle 64gb memory and 2gb ddr2. Personally I'd never run the CPU to 2.5Ghz seeing how that'd result in about 1.75x the amount of Mv's the chip is getting at stock and no internal cooler.
They designed the CPU to run at 2.5Ghz btw. But a phone doesn't need to hit that.. a laptop yeah. Tablet maybe? A phone, no, to small. Also not every phone will hit the same overclock no two dies are the same. The closer you get to the center of the silicon the more stable chip. The very out side chips aren't as stable so also 1.5-2.0ghz seems the best trade off for this variance.

[Q] Nexus devices take forever when "android is upgrading"

This is just an observation. Wondering if anyone else has noticed. I've had a Gnex, Nex4 then an HTC One. Now I'm back to Nexus with the 5. I only noticed this because I had the HTC One for a little bit. That things flies through this process. I just assumed it was because it had a faster processor and faster in general. But now that I've had the Nex5 for a few weeks, I see the slow "upgrading" process. The Nex5 has a faster processor with the Snapdragon 800. vs the 600 on HTC One. Of course, this is not life altering stuff. But does anyone have some insight?
