I recently purchased a RAZR maxx HD xt926 and boot loader locked and version 9.30 on jb wanted to know what Roms are so far compatible using ss 3.12 and I am rooted
Thank you and appreciated

Not many unfortunately, you may search around. For start look here.
That's really really unfortunate cause I would love to have cyanogen on my phone would any versions be compatible with my phone at the moment
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
Probably not. I read that it was CM compatible rom for stock kernel but then bootloader exploit was found and developers happily started building kernel rather then adjusting CM to stock.
Nexesque looks like CM. Make backup of your stock slot, create new one and try. Or just restore backup of your stock rom to new slot, start disabling apps and processes you think as unnecessary.
Again, make backup of your stock slot/rom and never try to change stock slot or try to restore it. You may brick your phone.
Thank you sir for all your help and advise

You're welcome. Read and understand before you start customization. If you don't understand something, better ask or search for answer before you try
If you haven't already, try to boot into fastboot. Turn off your phone, press and hold volume down, volume up and power at the same time until the screen turns on. Press Volume down until you reach the AP fastboot in the list and press Volume up to select. Check phone status. Maybe you will be lucky as me do discover status: unlocked
I'm not unlocked I am running nexesque but without cyanogen my life is incomplete thats just how it is every phone of android I own needs cyanogen on it I purchased the maxx because of the battery life that's my priority so I'll be hunting hopefully a developer helps put cyanogen out for us. The good news is 4.4 update will be pushed to maxx HD just hope we get it

Tucstwo made a one click flash. Read below.

Like mentioned in the OP. I made a 1 click for the HD that removes all the necessary files that would over write you custom recovery AND then flashes either CWM or TWRP for you. Just need windows and a phone. No fastboot, no nothing. Just plug in and click.
Here if you want it

TWRP will work on any XT926 with an unlocked bootloader.
Download the latest version of TWRP from here: http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/vanquish/
I believe someone has created a tool that will install this for you in a "one-click" fashion. I would recommend that to anyone not really familiar with fastboot or has lesser confidence in using this method.
Here are instructions: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/twrp-and-clocworkmod-cwm-recovery-for-motorola-droid-razr-hd-xt926/ (Ignore the TWRP download links from that article because they may be old.)

Would these work with the XT925 as well (unlocked bootloader obviously) ?

+1, would like to know it too
Thank you
No, these are only intended for XT926 Developer edition. Check the other development area. You guys have a recovery.
Edit: if you want to be 100% sure message @dhacker29 on twitter.

Greetings,
I've just moved up to the XT926 from the Droid X2 and I have a basic question concerning use of these recoveries. I flashed a lot of ROMs on the X2 but I knew I always had the battery pull "safety net" available in case of soft brick or boot loops...and I had to make use of it several times.
This is my first "no battery removal" device and since the battery pull is not really an option on the XT926 (well, not without a lot of extra work), I was wondering if its always possible to get the phone booted into one of these recoveries from say a boot loop, or if some other "disaster recovery" method is needed for such events. I'm looking forward to flashing some ROMs on this awesome phone (once they get a bit more stable), but I'd like to know what I might be in for before I start.
If this is a more complicated topic than should be addressed here, I'd be happy to go look at a different forum/posting if someone could point me to it! Thanks in advance for any help!
Ok just to start the recoveries in this thread are for the developer edition only. The safestrap recovery for all the other versions is in the other development section.
To your questions there should be a reset combination for resetting the battery (like pulling it.) Also you should almost always be able to fastboot flash back to stock if something goes wrong.

Thanks for the reply and yes, I have the Dev Edition (I was going to buy @ full retail anyway to preserve my unlimited data on VZW; figured the DE might provide more possibilities down the road for updates once the developer community started working with it).
Good to hear that there are HW methods available to recover. I'll do more google research before I embark on any major changes. Thanks again!
I'm in the same boat as Kevlar. I'm buying at full retail to save my unlimited data. Debating between RAZR HD Dev Edition or the RAZR HD MAXX. My GNEX battery just sucks and so do the radios.
So if I get the Dev edition I can use the CWM or TWRP but they won't work on the MAXX. Only safe strap works?

That's correct since they don't make a Dev Maxx.

I had the same debate and people on Rootz assured me that the non-MAXX has a great battery too. So I just ordered the Dev Edition.
You wont be sorry at all. Its a great phone.

I've been using the dev HD for two weeks now and the battery is right on par with my old RAZR maxx.
Can someone please answer my noob question.
I've been reading up on flashing ROMs for the RAZR HD but all directions are for the regular RAZR HDs not the Developer Edition so they all talk about Safestrap.
Does the SD card need partitioned if using TWRP or CWM when flashing ROMs onto Developer edition.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I installed TWRP but I think I like CWM better. Is it possible to switch? Just delete all TWRP files and then install CWM?
I tried flashing two ROMs.. CM10 & Vitreous but got errors on both using TWRP. Want to try CWM.
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
Quick question.
The directions make it clear that renaming recovery.sh is a fairly important step in the process. However, when I went to browse the /system/ect folder I could not find the recovery.sh file. I could find install-recovery.sh however. Is this the same file?
Thank you.
Edit: Got it all worked out and it seems to work flawlessly so far. Thank you for all of the hard work.
If you use TWRP it should rename the file for you like the directions say. If you are in system/etc then yea it should be the same file.

iii love keeping a razr around because I love that Webtop! Too bad IMHO the devs destroyed the design for the 4.04 webtop, which is really the main reason I keep a razr in my arsenal
Anybody ever tried fastbooting the ics firmware back to gingerbread? Would there be another way to get the old webtop...a custom gingerbread rom with working webtop?
Any experiences or ideas would be great! thanks fam:highfive:
This phone was never made for that old of software... maybe with a dev edition.. only cause the radios could not be signed being they would have to be edited

are the any gb custom roms i could put on a safestrap boot slot that run working webtop? maybe that would be an option?
I just flashed the latest slim bean to my Vzw RAZR HD and was wondering if it was worth switching to the Xenon? What do you all think?
I miss my voice text, is their a way to get that back??
Slim Bean is a great ROM and I don't mean any disrespect. If I could figure out how to get voice text/keyboard back I will do it.
Thanks for any ideas.

I really enjoyed slim bean but after trying xenon latest I plan on using for some time. Some people including myself are having a random blue flashing screen but they are on top of it. Having my camcorder on 4.2.2 and the new halo feature is sweet!

Hey what is the best way to flash from 4.2.2 to another rom? Im not able to get Safestrap to work on 4.2.2 for some reason.
Thanks for any help man!
I use TWRP from mattlgroff utility 1.20. I think he has 1.21 out now.... Is a must have!

I like it too. Somewhat... Im on the XT926 though. But I am having a few issues. My network shows up as 3G when I know im in a 4G network area. Also my screen brightness is non adjustable, and I cant seem to flash anything else.
Do you know what is the best way to flash from a custom rom to another? Clockwork seems to not support the HD.

Most developers tell you what to use in their descriptions which is usually TWRP.

Hello I just upgraded to a RAZR HD on verizon and it came with ics. I'm wondering if I should root and unlock before the update to official jellybean?
And if I can make a nandroid of stock ics or stock jb, do I need to root and unlock before I can backup?
I also noticed some weird static in my skullcandy ear buds when listening to YouTube and Google music anyone else notice this?

Root and unlock is available for jb so no worries there.do it sooner rather than later in case an update comes out that disables the unlock exploit. You can't do a backup that way unless you unlock and install a custom bootloader.once you unlock you forfeit your warranty btw.have never noticed a static issue.
sent from my xt926 RAZR maxx hd
Static issue seems to be gone once I disabled the audio eq in settings, trying the motochopper root exploit hangs in ics so I guess I will be updating to jb after all then.
Got the updates from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 but when I try to run the motochopper exploit my PC reboots and due to "DPC_WATCHDOG_ something” I can't remember the last part of the error. My PC is win 8 x64.
Edit- Turns out the DPC Watchdog Violation errors I was getting is due to a faulty usb port on my laptop, I used a different usb port and now my razr hd is rooted. *Sighs relef* thought I screwed one of my machines for a minute.
I have too. Its rather annoying. My iPhone never had that issue. I haven't tried it since going to A new ROM though. I'll let you know if it is better in the next day or so.

My wife's got an XT925 non-rooted.
Helium was my go-to app for backups for non-root users, but since Motorola phones are no compatible (Motorola's fault) I need another solution. She has a lot of games on her phone and doesn't want to lose her progress.
Thanks in advance.

For a non-root phone?
Well root it? That's the only way apps can backup system type data.

I was trying to avoid that, but it looks like it's my only option.
I was hoping there was a RAZR HD specific alternative to Helium.
Why avoid rooting it? You can always unroot after backing it all up if it's such a big deal.

It's my "wife's phone" and she's paranoid or something. I've root/ROMed every phone and tablet I've owned, but this is her phone and it's an argument I'd just rather not have.
She's on 4.1.2 (I'm pretty sure it's the June OTA update) so I have motochopper ready, can you please link me to the un-root thread? I haven't seen it.
If you download super su after your rooted there's a unroot option within the app. There's also a few other apps made to just unroot in general. Search the play store.

Thanks for the info.
I got the phone rooted, and I backed up her data, but now I have a new problem.
After the factory reset through the Settings menu, I am in a boot loop where the phone looks like it's trying to pull a firmware update.
Two steps forward, one step back.
Why did you do a factory reset? Flash the stock rom with rsd.

I did end up having to use RSD to flash the stock ROM. After the factory reset the home softkey stopped working, and no notifications were showing up in the pull-down-from-top thing (whose name I clearly forgot).
We got an unlock code, but couldn't actually unlock the phone because it was giving us a "SIM is perso locked" message instead of a "oh that's a foreign SIM, please put in the code" screen. XDA and YouTube both seemed to say that a full reset was in order to get it working. It did, but everything else got ****ed up. RSDL fixed the rest, but it turns out the phone was NOT compatible with her new cell provider afterall. :\
