Gingerbread webtop? fastboot back to 2.3.6? - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

iii love keeping a razr around because I love that Webtop! Too bad IMHO the devs destroyed the design for the 4.04 webtop, which is really the main reason I keep a razr in my arsenal
Anybody ever tried fastbooting the ics firmware back to gingerbread? Would there be another way to get the old webtop...a custom gingerbread rom with working webtop?
Any experiences or ideas would be great! thanks fam:highfive:

This phone was never made for that old of software... maybe with a dev edition.. only cause the radios could not be signed being they would have to be edited

XXJVS 2.3.5 (port candidate?)

Note: official XXJVS 2.3.5 version of gingerbread was released for I9000 on September 11, 2011. CWM flashable deodexed version has been posted in the Vibrant forum (see link.) Candidate for porting to 4g? I've downloaded it and I'm looking at it...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1258224
Just an fyi for those that may be unaware. DO NOT FLASH THIS ON YOUR SGS4G!
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
no of course not, it has to be PORTED to 4g first. I figured everyone knew that you can't flash raw Vibrant roms to the 4g because we don't have an internal SD card. But someone has already taken care of the button mappings by porting it to Vibrant.
It's also an almost stock rom with no fancy additions, just gingerbread 2.3.5. Maybe Samsung will issue this for 4g soon but if not, a PORTED version might be a nice base for new custom roms.
I would never do such a thing, but reading through the brick threads, others have tried and will try to flash a non t959v ROM.

Yes i seen it happen to people thinking because they look the same they are the same..completely diffirent

Yeah and not just Vibrant roms either, if I remember right. This is just a heads up in case anyone wants to try to modify the rom or mine it for possible apps, or something.
I decompiled framework.jar and took a look at it, but here is the interesting problem about trying to port this rom. It's 2.3.5 gingerbread and we don't have a 2.3.5 kernel or modem for the 4g so we'd have to use a kernel and modem from gingerbread 2.3.4. So would that not work? I don't know. We haven't seen any gingerbread leaks from Samsung for a while and this rom was leaked for the I9000 on September 11th so do you suppose there may be a 2.3.5 rom coming out for the 4g?
I ported this using the gb kernels and got stuck on the boot animation screen. I'm going to probably work on it after I'm done with 2.3.5 miui port and release it.

Tried looking for 2.3.5 on samfirmware.com but they don't have it.
EDIT
Went to the website that twitter account links to. Found this:

Looks like Samsung beat us to it. I was wondering if they might. And I picked today to leave my phone at home.
Great news. Thanks for all the info

Message from AT&T to update Rom! rooted, unlocked bootloader

Ok people, Here is a couple of Questions for you. My AT&T One X is rooted with an unlocked bootloader however, I am running a stock Rom. I just started getting this AT&T message that is giving me the option to update my software. But! It gives me a choice of 1, 2, 3, 5, and 8 hours to remind me if I do not do it now. If I let the update happen, will it crash my phone? Will it take out my root? Permanently ?? I am afraid to update because I have been reading that AT&T has been trying to fix their back door.
Also, How can I stop the reminder from coming back???
Flash a custom rom cleanrom 2.5 se is nice. Its really the best way. It blocks ota.

If you haven't installed an custom recovery you would need to with this tool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26528640
Getting links.
Then CleanROM 2.5 SE (stock debloat performance and battery mods)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26119274
Or CleanROM Lite (very slim speedy rom mostly everything stripped out install own apps from market)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27048708
And then kernal from (general consensus is 1.82 is the best for performance and battery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26933428
And finally a radio from (will have to try them and find out which works best for you with data speed and signal)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27022095
I made this from mobile app. Had to edit to add links, lol.

I will do that. I have to get up early for work so I will be back on tomorrow night. One last thing though, you said to flash the Rom then the Kernal? I thought the Kernal came first.
Oh and what if I flash the Kernal without updating to the new Rom? The reason I'm asking is that My wife has the same phone However hers is Rooted but not BL un-locked. so if I flash just the Kernal would it work? Then, would it solve the AT&T reminders to upload their Rom?
Sorry for all the Questions, Gary
These kernals are recovery flashable. Meaning from CWM so ordet doesn't matter, technically the Rom will flash a kernel, but some users say one is better than another so just throwing out options. I don think there is a way to get rid.of.the notification unless you could.freeze the updater app with something like titanium backup, or go custom Rom route.

I want to thank you for the recomending this Rom it all went in beutifully! I ended up flashing my wifes phone also.
Today AT&T sent us messages that stated that there would be no more reminders and that if we did not choose to update they would update anyway. So I shut down the phones until I got off work and took out our access cards then turned off Wi-Fi. Finnally when I could this afternoon I started flashing.
Nice, I'm glad it worked out for you. CleanROM lite is nice too, if you want a leaner Rom.

I have flashed two custom ROMs now and both have been glitchy and slow. (stuttering, freezes, FCs, etc)
I found my original nandroid from just barely post unlock/root, and restored it. I'm on 1.7x and would like to stay that way if at all possible.
Does anyone know what to freeze in TiBa in order to get this to stop? I just want to stay on stock/rooted for right now.

Try cleanrom now, you need to give it a day to build up caches, but it was rebuilt on a more stable Rom.

Or use Rootkeeper from the market and update to 1.85 and keep root.

Is there any reason I'd want to keep my 1.7x and NOT update (if I can help it)?
Every time I flash something on this phone, it seems to slow way way down. I just want it to stay where it is.
Trust me, It's worth the trouble of doing it.

Been running CleanRom 1.1 lite for about 12 hours and its WAY better than stock by far! Flashed the battery percentage and dim 3 led's and dual core mod. Couldnt ask for anything more
thanks!
So if I have 1.73 rooted with bootloader unlocked. Can i just install clean rom to update to 1.85? or do i first have to update? If i have to update first is it better to use the Peter's guide post or can i just use bootkeeper and to the ota update?
Thanks!

Kernel Switcher

Devs...any chance that this could work for us or be modified to work for us? This is from the Atrix HD forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1815639
I'm no developer, but i don't see why it wouldn't work. But here's what you got to understand, the hd's bootloader is locked also. All they are doing its flashing stock kernels back and forth.
Which wouldn't do us much good seeing as how we only have one ics kernel right now.

Help please

I have a rooted razr maxx. I am thinking about using a jb. Appalachian wireless is my provider. My question is, can i ise any rom, or would i have to have one geared for aw?

Just an update. I am currently running cyanogenmod 10.1 on my aw xt908. Works like a charm. It does change the name to xt912 while cm 10, but so far everything is working great.
I have tried to flash jelly haters and solar eclipse as well, but all i get is a black screen. I have used a couple other roms successfully, but those two seem out of reach. Anyone have any pointers to get one of the two running on my phone?

I am on Appalachian and was thinking about rooting and installing Cyanogenmod on my RAZR MAXX too. Was just wondering, did you stick to the regular Cyanogenmod instructions or did you have to deviate at all because you were on Appalachian rather than Verizon. Also, did you have 4G when you installed? How did that work out?

Xenon vs Slim Bean

I just flashed the latest slim bean to my Vzw RAZR HD and was wondering if it was worth switching to the Xenon? What do you all think?
I miss my voice text, is their a way to get that back??
Slim Bean is a great ROM and I don't mean any disrespect. If I could figure out how to get voice text/keyboard back I will do it.
Thanks for any ideas.

I really enjoyed slim bean but after trying xenon latest I plan on using for some time. Some people including myself are having a random blue flashing screen but they are on top of it. Having my camcorder on 4.2.2 and the new halo feature is sweet!

Hey what is the best way to flash from 4.2.2 to another rom? Im not able to get Safestrap to work on 4.2.2 for some reason.
Thanks for any help man!
I use TWRP from mattlgroff utility 1.20. I think he has 1.21 out now.... Is a must have!

I like it too. Somewhat... Im on the XT926 though. But I am having a few issues. My network shows up as 3G when I know im in a 4G network area. Also my screen brightness is non adjustable, and I cant seem to flash anything else.
Do you know what is the best way to flash from a custom rom to another? Clockwork seems to not support the HD.

Most developers tell you what to use in their descriptions which is usually TWRP.
